Beauty Tips For Body Care
My dad recently came back from a weekend away with a terrible rash on his face, focused on his chin and jawline. He thought it was a razor burn, which made no sense - the man is an expert shaver at this point after more than 50 years of shaving daily. It looked like an allergic reaction. After a bunch of questions from me, he finally recalled he had a new shaving cream called "Magic shave cream" that he'd bought because it was a smaller size, non-aerosolized for travel. I asked to see the label - it was super difficult to read in extremely tiny text. At this point, I find out my dad has been using a depilatory cream as a shaving cream on his face for a few days - yikes! It was worst on his chin and jawline because, due to the way he shaves, that's where the product sat the longest. The product, IMO, is very badly labeled and not clear at all that it is a depilatory. He tossed the tube of the product he had and is using a hydrocortisone cream for a few days. (This wikihow article "How to get rid of a rash from Nair" was helpful.) We had a discussion about the importance of patch testing and asking for help if the product label is too small to read. And he's grounded from shaving until Wednesday.I hate to think how bad it could have gotten if I hadn't noticed and asked a lot of questions. I think I saved him from an expensive medical bill which may have happened if he'd continued using this.P.S. My dad did *not* use the product according to the directions, because they were printed so small he couldn't see them. I think even the larger text is confusing for a person unfamiliar with this type of product. The product may work just fine for folk familiar with this item who use it according to the directions - I simply don't know. I did write to the manufacturer to request that they improve their product labeling readability.
