[Shelfie] Mostly holy grail, mostly drug store, dry skin savior routine

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Here are all of the products I use on my skin, head-to-toe, and a selfie of what my skin looks like on an average day: https://imgur.com/a/VE7g2Vc (I can't get links to work properly with formatting)I am physically incapable of making anything short, so buckle up friends!!TL;DR (づ◔ ͜ʖ◔)づ AQUAPHOR (づ◔ ͜ʖ◔)づSkin Type: DrySkin Concerns: Reducing redness due to dry spots, occasional acneSkin Goals: Moisturized, even textureI'll preface my routine with a full-disclosure statement: I've really never had what anyone would call "bad" skin. The worst it ever got was when I went off birth control, then joined the SCA community and my skin was adjusting to a new routine. So, if you're new and feeling frustrated - give it time! The basic SCA routine is solid: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/sca_routine I found that it took about two years to find the products that worked consistently for my skin.AM RoutineSplash face with water - I used to cleanse in the morning but have found that only cleansing at night works best for my skin. If I workout at an awkward time in the middle of the day, I'll wipe my face down with micellar water, then rinse off with water.Neutrogena Hydro Boost Serum - HG and a great replacement for Drunk Elephant's B-Hydra. I also think it sort of smells like Smarties which is fun!Drunk Elephant Protini mixed w/ The Ordinary Squalene - HG moisturizer, worth the money as I have seen a definite "firming" of my skin and smoothing of the texture. I mix it with Squalene as a replacement for Drunk Elephant's marula oil - $5 vs $40? No brainer.Biore Watery Essence Sunscreen - HG sunscreen. I see a lot of posts on here talking about how great it is for oily skin, and for my dry skin it also works really well. Dries relatively quickly without drying my skin out and keeps a nice, matte finish.PM ROUTINERemove makeup (if wearing any) with Garnier Micellar Water - Not much to say about this one. It takes makeup off without drying out my skin.Cleanse with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser - HG. Cleanses well and doesn't leave my skin feeling stripped.Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence - Solid snail boi that has helped with redness. I don't know if I'd call it a HG because every time I'm almost out, I consider switching to a different one, but I keep buying it because it works and is affordable.CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream mixed w/ The Ordinary Squalene - HG night cream, can't say enough good things about it and recommend to anyone who has dry skin! It's got a nice, thick consistency that my skin just drinks up. Mixed with squalene, my skin is no longer thirsty.Aquaphor - #1 HOLY GRAIL OF ALL TIME Y'ALL. For me, Aquaphor is to skin as Windex is to everything according to that one guy in My Big Fat Greek Wedding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPCIsIJ7nhY I layer this on over my night cream after it has sunk in and enjoy that sweet, sweet, slug life. It does stain my pillowcases but I change them every day anyway. I also use this throughout the day on my lips, on my knuckles/elbows when they get dry, on my feet... I slap that shit on anywhere that needs healing!WEEKLYSaturday: Drunk Elephant Babyfacial - HG. Really does feel like I'm revealing a new, baby-smooth, healthy layer of skin after I wash it off. Since it's pretty much the only exfoliant I consistently use, my dry skin doesn't mind it, and you better believe that I follow it up with my night cream/oil mix and some M'FKN AQUAPHORSunday: Aztec Secret Indian Clay Mask (mixed w/ ACV), followed by La Pure Snail Sheet Mask - If my skin is really dry, I will skip the clay mask and only use snail. I find that the clay mask helps keep acne at bay while the snail re-hydrates and gives my skin a hydrating, glowing boost. Plus, finding new ways to sneak up on my boyfriend looking like a goblin and/or Leatherface keeps the routine fun & interesting.BODYVaseline Essential Healing Body Lotion - I love this stuff for the winter, not so much when I'm sweaty though.Aveeno Daily Moisturizer - HG, have used this since high school.Trader Joe's Hand Cream - HG! I am a slut for expensive hand creams but at $5 this one is my go-to, and it comes in an aluminum container (because that's how you know it's legit)Burt's Bee's Cuticle Cream - I put this on before bed and it helps keep my nail beds nice & soft.MISCDrunk Elephant Marula Oil - Won't buy. My boyfriend bought me two of the DE sample packs for a birthday gift, so I'll use them occasionally. As stated above, The Ordinary Squalene works just as well as this for me. I'll sometimes use this after Babyfacial or mixed in with my night cream if I'm feeling fancy.Drunk Elephant B-Hydra - Won't buy. Also as mentioned above, I think the Neutrogena HydroBoost works as well or better than this. I'll use this when I do a workout at a weird time in the middle of the day and have to wash my face but don't feel like re-applying HydroBoost for some weird reason.Drunk Elephant Glycolic Serum - Won't buy. I really only use this if I see that I'm developing acne, and never within two days of using Babyfacial.Drunk Elephant Vitamin C Serum - Vitamin C is really the only thing I'm missing in my current routine, so sometimes I'll mix this in with my day moisturizer. I used to use Vitamin C in my routine but it did its job at fading acne scars, so I don't really have a need for it. I'd consider buying this one if it didn't smell like an old leather purse and wasn't $80.Kroger 10% benzoyl peroxide - Used to treat acne when it emerges. Paired with pimple patches, blemishes typically fade within 2-3 days.Corsx Pimple Patches - I follow the ol' "stab whiteheads with something sharp and cover it with one of these babies" approach, so these are definitely HG status for getting rid of acne fast.LIFESTYLE/OTHERI have found that items in this category have been the true game changers in going from treating my skin to maintaining it, so worth mentioning.Makeup - 95% of the time, I only wear mascara and some brow color, if anything at all. I wear face makeup on the occasional fancy outing, such as a wedding. This has been a huge factor in my skin's health. I can be a sweaty lady and I think that foundation getting sweated all into my skin led to some nasty junk, so I have gone barefaced for about two years now.I am on birth control - I broke out pretty badly when I went off of it several years ago, so this definitely is a factor in my skin's appearance. Eventually I would like to go off it again so pray for meChange pillowcases daily - Until I started doing this, I always had one of those big, deep, painful cheek pimples. Now I get one maybe every 3-4 months.I workout 5-7 days/week - Not sure if this contributes to my skin's health other than being part of an overall healthy lifestyle.Drink 4-5 L fluids daily - I drink 3-4 Nalgene's worth of water every day, plus tea. HYDRATE OR DIEDRATEMostly healthy diet - Dairy, gluten, etc. don't seem to have any affect on my skin, and I basically eat what I want while keeping nutrition in mind. I do notice that I always break out when I eat a bunch of high sugar candy such as Skittles, Smarties, etc. so I try to avoid those.I change the towel that I use to dry my face weekly - Should probably do this more often than weekly, but I have enough laundry as it is.Therapy - Seeing a therapist has helped me with my anxiety and greatly reduced my stress level, which affects my skin. My skin care routine is part of my mental health routine, so it's important to make sure the latter continues to be in good shape!I hope you enjoyed reading this monster, and that it's helpful to see how these products have helped keep my Sahara-ass skin hydrated! When in doubt, AQUAPHOR.
