[Sun Care] Need help chosing a sunscreen for sensitive skin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have really sensitive skin (oil based moisturizers such as FAB Ultra repair creme will break me out) and use Squaline and Aloe vera gel to moisturize.I have not had any luck with any sunscreens from CVS and was hoping somebody could recommend a product that is effective and won't leave my skin oily or sticky. The less ingredients the better! Thanks!

[Misc] Seeing what people look like under a UV camera always re-motivates me to apply sunscreen
Beauty Tips For Body Care
To me sunscreen is one of the most important yet underrated step when it comes to skincare. I never forget to put on moisturiser but sometimes forget or am simply too lazy when it comes to sunscreen. I rationalise it by thinking I won't be in the sun for too long and can't stand the greasy feeling some sunscreens give you. But after watching this video ( https://youtu.be/yrs3_F5uzJI ) on what we look like under a UV camera, I got the sudden urge to put on sunscreen even though its night time!) It's so easy to underestimate the effect of UV rays but hopefully I'll be more diligent with sun protection especially remembering to apply on the ears and neck area.

[Acne] Should I stop taking oral BC?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I started staking TriSprintec in November for my acne.I have my wedding coming up in April and wanted to take bc primarily for acne. However, TriSprintec has messed up my skin. I had mild acne (I would get 1-4 cystic pimples before period and during ovulation) but now it’s like 8-10 pimples before period and mid cycle. Everyday a new pimple appears, maybe I get 1-2 days of no new pimples.I’m wondering, when I should stop taking this BC? Or is this typical and I should just keep going?I’ve been too busy to take time off of work to schedule an appointment with my doctor (and tbh last time I went I had an NP who was not helpful at all, so I’m not remotely inclined to go again).I’m just starting to freak out at the possibility that I might have damaged and made my skin worse a few months before my wedding.....

[Product Question] What should I use between washes??
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am a time poor 27 year old who has a bad habit of only washing my face every second day when I have a shower. I know this is a terrible approach but I really want to start 2020 off right by finding something that is quick and easy but also fits into what can be a rushed routine morning and night (I've got a 40min commute to work/home and volunteer every evening, some days I dont get home until 1130pm to leave at 6 the next day) Currently using clean and clear foaming cleanser every second day in the shower and Simple skin quench sleeping cream at night. I have combination skin with intermittent chin and jaw acne. Any and all products are on the table but a note, I'm in NZ where it can be hard to source some products.

[Miscellaneous] Switching out my skincare obsession for a budgeting obsession ...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I lost my damn mind a few months ago when I discovered this sub and spent mumble dollars. I found my mind again and discovered You Need A Budget and feeling a lot better about this as a new obsession.I’m left with a ton of moisturizers that were meh for me. I have a band of super reactive / sensitive skin on my cheeks, nose and forehead but can tolerate basically anything on my hands, neck, side-face area. Anyone tried using up meh moisturizers on your hardy real estate and saving pricier options for your fussy real estate? No actual allergic reaction or anything. Will that just make my hardy skin turn fussy? Want to stretch the budget as far as possible and use up what I already purchased.

Dark circles. I'm over it. Help? [skin concerns]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Does anyone have any advice on how to actually do something about hereditary dark circles? Whether it's a cream, home remedy, or lasers.. I'm open to it - IF IF IF it's worked for you. The only thing I'm not willing to do is fillers. For reference I'm 32, healthy, very fair Irish skin. I've been checked for any medical reason; it's simply heredity. I've had them since I was little. I appreciate any advice, thanks my dudes.

[Acne] Purging vs. product not working for you?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
How can you tell the difference between "purging" due to getting used to a new product and the product actually not working with your skin?Do purges only happen with some ingredients or can it happen with any?I recently added both (I know, I know...) an oil cleanser (palmers) because I kept reading you should double cleanse if you use sunscreen, and cerave baby lotion as a nighttime moisturizer.I've since started to get tiny pimples and bumps that I didn't have before...nothing crazy, but noticeable. My face also itches a bit. I generally have really sensitive skin and many products irritate it and cause redness, but this is different. Is there a way to know if it's normal and I'll adjust, or do I just need to wait and see? And if it's a waiting game...how long is appropriate to wait? Thanks for your insight!

[Product Question] Dry climate ScAs: What layering hydrating essences *without* hyaluronic acid do you love?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Desert dweller with very dry skin, Fitzpatrick Type 1, low humidity climate. No issues with breakouts. Looking for hydrating products for pat-pat-pat layering that don't contain hyaluronic acid.I have Tatcha Essence (for now), and may add in Paula's Choice Moisture Boost Hydrating Toner.I started layering recently, and was including the lovely and affordable Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Milky Lotion and Kikumasamune Sake High Moisture Skin Lotion Toner. Sometimes it feels amazing, and other times I suppose I'm not sealing it all in properly and the HA ends up drawing what little moisture is in my skin into the parched air.I can grease/occlude myself up properly at night, but for the day I'd like to just use non-HA essences/toners.I'd love to hear what works for low humidity people!

[Misc] How I became free of acne after suffering for more than 10 years.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Male, 27 years old. I had been affected by acne for so many years, I figure a good 10 years or longer, and I honestly felt I was cursed. It got to the point where I was so frustrated with how acne had affected my life over the years, I wanted to write an autobiography of sorts, or a memoir, initially as a way to vent out my frustration, and it was cathartic too (this post isn’t that memoir, I’m merely writing about this other thing I wrote). But since so much time had gone by to where literally every facet of my life I could think of acne somehow had sunk its claws into, I thought it would also be interesting to write a piece that shows just how much a bullshit affliction like acne can affect a person. It would just be for me to reflect on and read in the future so that I could remember how much it dominated my mind. It affected how I acted, how I ate, my relationships with friends and family, my education, work, and so on, but these are broad topics which doesn’t even begin to cover the full story. But the thing is, I refused to tell anyone about what I was going through because the very act of bringing it up and making my acne a talking point I found unbearable. Because then going forward whenever I would be seeing the people I told, I would be worried they would then be thinking, “I wonder if he’s feeling down right now because of his acne”. So then I would have to force myself to be happy around these people and make them think it’s not bothering me? I know it’s good to talk to people about difficulties you may be going through, and I’m sure that is helpful for other people, but I chose to not tell a single soul (except for a dermatologist, but I will get to that later). It was a personal battle I fought alone, and yes it was incredibly lonely. So for that reason, I felt that all my friends and family didn’t really know the real me. They only knew the me I was presenting to them. They didn’t know what I was going through. They just thought I was shy or antisocial, or maybe they even thought I didn’t like them, or I was just an asshole because I was always declining spending time with them or going to events. That’s why I wanted to write an extensive piece that reveals everything, so that in case I died they could read it and finally know what I was going through. Or if I was somehow free of my curse in the distant future, like if finally the day came where my body stopped producing acne (which I hoped for every single day), and I knew for sure it was gone forever, only then would I reveal my book and be able to go “look, this is what I was going through!” And in terms of them seeing what I was going through, I mean how it made me feel, how it controlled my life. Visually I’m sure over the years they would have noticed it on my face (and hopefully were kind enough not to bring it up, which for the most part they were), but there is absolutely no denying I let acne rule my life and let it have more power over me than it should have. I wish I could have just not cared about it and been able to live my life despite it, but the fact is it really fucking crippled me mentally. I just couldn’t escape from always being self-conscious about it. For anyone who has had big glaringly obvious red spots on your face I’m sure you can understand the feeling of not wanting to look at anyone or go anywhere. I was so terrified of talking to someone and noticing their eyes do a quick dart to look at one of my spots that I simply never made eye contact period. And that’s how I lived my life. The purpose of this post is to inform how I was freed from acne, but the reason I’ve been going on about this book I wrote is I guess I’m trying to demonstrate just how insane I had become from acne, to give a better idea about what exactly I was freed from. Surely if I felt compelled to pour my heart into this other thing I wrote, which has eclipsed 100,000 words, (and trust me I did not add unnecessary padding to make it longer, nor is it repetitive in the things I was writing about. And I never once had to think about what to add in order to make it longer, because it just kept flowing through me endlessly) that you would understand that acne affected me deeply. Not that I feel I need to defend my claim that I suffered greatly from acne, but maybe if there are other acne sufferers out there it will make you feel like you’re not alone. And I must also say I absolutely in no way intend to gatekeep acne suffering. I’m not saying I have suffered the most and that you don’t know suffering unless you write a fucking book about it. I beg you this is not a smug "I'm free from acne and you're not" kind of post. I guess I just wanted to say where I was coming from, how deep the hole I was in before I was finally able to climb out. So all that being said, what was the thing that finally cured my acne? What broke the so called “curse”? Well it wasn’t a dietary adjustment. It wasn’t eliminating stress from my life. It wasn’t finally reaching an age where my body decided enough was enough. It wasn’t anything interesting at all, because of all things it was as simple as going on Accutane. I know this could be eye rolling, or if you were hoping for some secret thing you could try that isn’t known already. You might be thinking, well why did you wait so long to try Accutane? Well there was several reasons. In my research, while yes there were posts of people who had success with Accutane, it seemed like there was always an equal amount of posts of people saying they regretted going on Accutane, or how it made their acne worse, or how it fucked their body up, or how afterwards their acne simply returned once the treatment was over. It made it impossible to know what the real deal is with this treatment. For starters, since you know my mind was crippled by the acne I was already dealing with, the notion of my acne getting even worse was absolutely a risk I refused to take, because I felt I had my hands full as it was dealing with the level of my acne’s severity. And also, even if it was only a temporary period of more severe acne before the treatment does its thing and it all clears up, I was worried during that "temporary" period it would push my depression to a dangerous level to where I would kill myself or something. With this being the major reasons, add on top the other worries that my body could get fucked up from the treatment, and you have your answer as to why it took me so long to try it. The first time I went to see a dermatologist, it was more because I was looking for answers. I wanted to know why as a male in his 20s why my body was still producing acne. I thought that if we could pinpoint the reason, that then knowing what the cause is would give a better idea as to how to prevent it. And I suppose I was also naive to believe surely there was other treatment options available instead of Accutane which could get rid of it my acne forever. So after trying to vent my thoughts and frustration out to the dermatologist, which was hard because I was nervous, he simply cut to the chase and said “well you should go on Accutane”. I was disappointed there was no discussion, that my answer for “why am I getting acne” went unanswered, and he defaulted to this treatment which I knew in the first place going in that I did not want it. His alternative suggestion was a 3 month antibiotic of some kind which he admitted the acne will probably return once it was done. I opted for the temporary relief, and boy was it amazing. For the first time in forever I was finally clear, and I got a taste for what life could be like. But then of course my acne returned after the 3 months, and things went straight back to how they were. Years went by. Eventually my frustration and desperation became great enough that I was willing to go see a dermatologist one more time to try and get my answers. But I didn’t want the same experience I got last time where I had the vibe that the doctor was just trying to get through his patients (and the reviews for hic clinic online certainly reflected how I felt about him too). So I literally searched what the top Dermatologists were that were even remotely near me, because I didn’t mind travelling far to see them, and it didn’t take long to find one. I looked through countless websites and reviews to make sure I had found the best, and one of the comments from someone that sold it for me was they said something along the lines of “I went to see my doctor to get a referral to see a dermatologist, and he recommended me this doctor, saying ‘If he can’t clear your acne, NOONE can’”. So here I was thinking, this man is the last stop. I would make pilgrimage to this man, for he is the master of curing acne apparently, and if he is unable to cure it, I could die knowing I did all that I could. When it was all said and done it took about half a year going through the hoops to get the point of being able to sit with this doctor and talk to him. Once again, I was nervous, but I gave him my account and prayed that he had some miracle cure for me, or the ultimate answer, the truth at last as to why I was still suffering from acne. But unfortunately, while he may have been more considerate towards me than the other doctor I saw, he ultimately arrived at recommending Accutane, and I couldn’t help but feel disappointed once again. But then he said something I didn’t expect. After he finished talking about the details of the treatment, he said “if you were my son I would prescribe this to you.” I feel like I wouldn’t have said yes to going on the treatment had he not said that. I felt there was incredible power in this statement for some reason. So I left the office with his prescription, and a week later I had I acquired the drugs from my local pharmacy. The drug itself was called Epuris, which I guess is a form of Accutane. Now those drugs sat in my room for a full year before I had the nerve to take them. Isn’t that crazy? After all that work to see this master doctor, and even with that thing he said which got me to say yes and pay for the drugs, I still couldn’t bring myself to go through with it. Then after that year had gone by, it was one random day I was so depressed and frustrated, with tears in my eyes I said fuck it and took the first pill. It was one of the scariest things I had ever done, since I firmly believed I was taking a huge risk. And yet…it was completely fine. My acne didn’t get worse. It was a 3-month treatment, and after it was over my acne didn’t come back. It disappeared after the first month to a month and a half actually, but I still made sure to take the pills for the full duration of what was prescribed. The biggest side effect the drug caused was it made my lips super dry and chapped, so I just had to make sure to use lots of Chapstick, which was a joke really in terms of the worst-case scenarios I was fearing. So that was it. I must say my experience with Accutane was shockingly easy and problem free. After all the methods and strategies I had tried over the years, including endless recommendations and posts on this subreddit for skin care routines and various products, things to eat, things not to eat, vitamins to take, ways to alter your life or daily habits, etc, it was fucking Accutane that did it. I’m forever grateful for the results, but I can’t help but wish it was something else, because I don’t necessarily want to run out and recommend Accutane to everyone, because what if it gives people a negative experience? Of course, now that the fog has lifted and I’ve been living life acne free, I have thoughts of “I shouldn’t have let acne control me like that”, but that’s a lot easier to say when you’re not suffering from it and no longer depressed. Snap your fingers and put all the acne back and I’d probably revert right back to how I used to be, despite that enlightenment. (Now when I say I’m acne free, I’m talking about my face. I still get spots on my back, but I can live with that since it can stay perfectly hidden with clothing). So there you have it. If you’re desperate, maybe give Accutane a shot, but at the same time, I totally understand why you would not want to take it, because I’ve been there. Never in a million years did I think I would ever go on Accutane, it just seemed absurd. The last thing I want is people taking it and it resulting in their own personal disaster of some kind. Before I went on Accutane, I swear I saw improvement from cutting out things like dairy from my diet, or changing my pillow case often, and other lifestyle things like that, but these weren’t enough to make it go away permanently. Acne took some of the best years of my youth away. For example, my years in High School and University are but a shadow for what they could have been had I been willing to soak them up more and not shut myself off from everything. I just want you to know, anyone reading this if you are lost or suffering, I feel you, my heart goes out to you.

[Acne] What products do you use for PIE and congested skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello~ Every time I get a pesky pimple, it leads to a post-inflammatory erythema. I suspect my acne is caused by closed comedones that worsen to inflammatory acne. If you have/had similar issues, what do you use??? Any suggestion is welcomed!

[Product Question] Does anyone find pot/tub skincare gross?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It just seems so unsanitary imo. I’ve tried to use sanitary measures when using products in this packaging format, but still feel like it’s got a bunch of thriving bacteria. I quit using the Banila Co Clean It Zero because of this even though it’s my favorite :(

[Routine help] I’m desperate to find a moisturiser that actually works.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all! At the moment I’m using the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion but I used quite a few in the past, from la Roche Posay to Neutrogena. But I always get super dry skin around my chin area, with white, flaky skin. Also that area is where most of my spots are focused. And when I use foundation you can see those awful white bits of dry skin. What’s the best moisturiser you ever tried?? I’d pay anything to get rid of these dry patches!

[misc] Do you have a ‘travel routine’?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a well working routine and my skin finally looks great. I am planning to go to a weekend spot event what is kind of nomadic. (Like 10 person for 1 bathroom kind of nomadic.) I am afraid if I can’t do my routine for 2 days I’ll break out and it will be months again to get back my nice skin. I was even considering not going for this reason. How do you deal with the same issue?

[miscellaneous] Broken capillary treatment?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
From what I’ve heard, laser treatment seems to be the only permanent solution for broken capillaries. Has anyone here had success with such a treatment? What are the risks with this type of laser treatment? Any advise is much appreciated, thanks!(Also, would these laser treatments have any improvement in discoloration from acne scars?)

[Review] A testament to Khiel's Calendula and Aloe Soothing Hydrating Masque
Beauty Tips For Body Care
TLDR: it does an amazing job at soothing, decently hydrating. I would recommend keeping it around if you test out lots of actives/products. A little goes a long way and you can potentially use it just to spot treat irritated areas.Texture and packaging: It comes in a jar, and has a jelly-like consistency with what seems to be bits of calendula in it? I recommend putting it in the fridge for optimum soothing, but it works very well without being kept in the fridge and has amazing cooling properties on its own.Im not sure about my skin type: Im quite oily because I live in a really hot and humid country (I'm talking like 80% humidity constantly) and I wouldn't call my skin sensitive per say, but reactive when it comes to actives like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide etc. I'm also currently battling clogged pores/white heads/closed comedones (not sure which) and sorta have some regular acne.My mother's experience with a minor burn on her hand: My mother and I purchased it in Valencia, Spain after she had burnt her hand on a paella dish at lunch and while adventuring around the khiel's store, she found that it really soothed her burn (it was a minor burn that healed with no scar so I'm not sure whether this is medically safe, but it worked fine on her).Situations it has helped me in: 1) Once I stupidly applied 2.5% benzoyl peroxide all over my face that I later found to be expired. My skin was red, and as an Indian it's really hard for my skin to turn red so that's how you really know I messed up. I washed my face and applied this mask 2-3 times (I kept layering it on after it "dried", and all the redness was gone.2) I've also been testing out a 2% salicylic acid face wash and found my skin sensitive after using it twice daily for a few days (again, stupid) and I applied the mask and again, all the redness gone.About its hydration properties: Since its a rinse off mask, I wouldn't say it's super hydrating but my skin feels really thick and full after using it, likes it's filled with water. It's like it hydrates the inner layers of the skin but not the outer layer if that makes sense.Cons: it's not that hydrating since you rinse it off, resulting in the top layer of your skin being dry. It also may sting a little on broken skin but it will soon quickly stop and soothe the area (in my experience).Thank you for reading my review! It's my first time doing something like this, but I really love this subreddit and it has really helped my skin. Let me know how I can improve my rating/descriptions (apologies about the formatting, Im on the mobile app and also just simply do not know how to bold words etc.)

[Acne] Need advice for 10yr old daughter
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My daughter is 10 and has a pretty bad case of OCD. Last year she has started getting tiny but multiple black heads all over her forehead and only there. She doesn't have any bangs. I want to help her with this as she's starting to wash her face with bar soap, but I told her no, it's going to dry out her skin a lot faster. She used to spend 15 minutes or more washing her hands 5 times a day. She's getting help controlling her anxiety surrounding OCD.I don't want her to damage her fragile skin with some of the rough products out there. I use biore charcoal scrub and cleanser in the shower myself, and Advantage moisturizer after. I feel these could still be too rough with her.Could I get some suggestions on what she could start with that will help but not dry out her skin?

freaked out and had her use a cleansing balm and some actually good foaming cleanser. She complained that her face felt greasy afterward. Honey, no, it ain't greasy, it's just not stripped to the bones by LITERAL 90% ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL. she is 21 years oldanyway when she told me her 'routine' I instantly took 10d6 psychic damage and didn't know who else to scream my pain to but sca. there's really no point to this post other than 'if i had to suffer knowing this so do all of you'. you're welcome

[Routine help] Looking for a cheap sunscreen that works well with makeup
Beauty Tips For Body Care
The options seem overwhelming so I thought I'd ask for recommendations!I have very fair, acne prone, combination skin, leaning more towards dry. I've never used sunscreen as a part of my routine. Even after looking through the help section it still feels a little overwhelming.Does anyone have any good recommendations for a cheap/affordable sunscreen that works well under makeup? I wear makeup most days, and am not in a position to spend a lot, so any recommendations are appreciated!

[Product Question] TO Vitamin C powder: what time to use and what can I mix with?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello Everyone, I currently use Melano CC every morning as my Vit C serum. I mix it with my Good Molecules Niacinamide serum and it works good for me but I know that Melano CC is not that strong of a Vit C product and that's why I've been thinking about the powder version from TO.But my problem is: on their website it says to not use it during the day (I thought Vit C was more effective during the day) and to not mix it with niacinamide. So how do you guys use the powder. I just want a good concentration of Vit C without it being unstable like most serums.

Hey everyone!I apologise that there wasn't a thread last week; I'm still figuring out whether I want to post these myself every time or whether I'm going to transfer the posts over to Automod at some point. Automod is more reliable than I am, but he's also way less chatty! Maybe we could do these threads once every other week? Idk, let me know what you'd like!Let's check in: how have the past 2 weeks been for you? Did you have any urge to spend money that you weren't planning on spending? Have you found a good tip to help you stay on budget? Share it here!

[misc] If you started washing your face with just water in the morning, how long did it take for you to see a difference in the overall health of your skin?

[Personal] Cerave doesn’t work for everyone and that’s okay.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
We all love Cervea here , because it’s an excellent product and an affordable one with real science and results. I wanted to love it so bad and I used an entire jar before I realized that it wasn’t for me! I know a lot of people recommend it so I tried to make it work but it stung and caused nasty closed comedones. I thought the stinging meant that it was “working” but it was really just irritating the shit out of my face. So last night as I stepped out of the shower I reached for my cetaphil and I was shocked , no stinging no burning no tight feeling no new pimples just smooth healthy looking skin this morning. No tightness I usually experience nothing. I couldn’t even believe I used Cervea for so long and I think it’s a great testimony to that everyone’s skin type is so unique and personal it’s almost impossible to say. If your having problems with it just repurpose it for your body or give it away (that’s what I’m gonna do) listen to when people tell you a product shouldn’t sting (and it really shouldn’t).Good luck :) also check out cetaphil moisturizing cream if you haven’t it’s absolutely lovely.

[misc] the worst part of skincare...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
At least for me...Is having to use up products that just. Aren’t. Working. but aren’t so offensively bad that you have to throw them out.Like oh. This moisturizer is okay, but I’m still kind of dry afterwards. Guess I’m stuck with it for the next month+ until this entire tube is gone :/Right now I’m in a spot where every part of my routine needs to be replaced. Like honestly, I really want to throw some of them out, but I just can’t bring myself to be the person that throws away product if it isn’t actively harming my skin. I already have the new products I want to try waiting, but there’s still days if not weeks before I’ll get to use any of them, and I definitely don’t want to overload my skin by trying to use both.Oh well. At least it gives me the time to spot test on my neck. Silver linings haha.

[Product Question] Can I still use an exfoliant if I am using finacea (Azelaic Acid)?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My dermatologist prescribed my finacea gel or 15% Azelaic Acid for my hyperpigmentation. She told me to use it AM and PM with moisturizer. Can I still exfoliate 2-3 times per week using an AHA on the nights I don't use Azelaic Acid or do I not need to exfoliate since azelaic acid is a keratolytic?

[Misc] cheap scar treatment and skin tone, my new thing to always have on hand.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have some nasty looking scars, those dark purple ones, that I was really self conscious about and finally got fed up accepting I have them.. I was trying to find alternatives to expensive creams and stumbled on an article that said Burts Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream worked well at fading scars and could even help tone skin. It's a small container but was only $7 so I figured why not try.. OMG it works so well, I still have visible scars but after a few weeks of applying just this in the morning and evening they have faded significantly, they are a pinkish working towards returning to more of my skin tone. I'll definitely always have these scars but it's nice they aren't so obvious. I don't have very uneven skintone but I get a little red on my cheeks under my eyes and it's worked really well at soothing that too along with my regular skin care, plus it keeps your cuticles soft. I've been using it daily and it's clear that this little $7 container is going to last me a good amount of time, it's also not goopy or overly fragrant.

Product obsession as a result of mental health issues [misc]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Offshoot of the thread about excessive shelfies.Has anyone else besides me had a moment of realization that skincare obsession was the result of the transference of other unhealthy habits as a means of "self-care"? Don't get me wrong. I have now registered the importance of sunscreen and am aware of how to handle my acne issues, both of which helped my skin and self-esteem. I'm more referring to when things get out of control beyond once major issues have been resolved...ie: bleeding out paychecks in the name of impulse buys of Drunk Elephant serums every other week.

I'm more referring to when things get out of control beyond once major issues have been resolved...ie: bleeding out paychecks in the name of impulse buys of Drunk Elephant serums every other week.

[Misc] Based off feedback on my comment on the skin cancer thread, I've created a subreddit for people to post pics of their skin cancer. /r/SkinCancerPics
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Would anyone like to help moderate it or take over? I've never personally had skin cancer, it would be great if someone who has would be interested. My ideas for the subreddit are that people who have had skin cancer can post pictures of the lesions that ended up being cancerous and they could let everyone know what made them seek medical attention, what it ended up being, what the treatment was, etc.I think we are all aware of the ABCDEs of skin cancer, but sometimes there are lesions that aren't really following those rules as much, so I would love to help spread awareness!/r/SkinCancerPics(Mods, please let me know if this breaks the rules of this subreddit.)

like I almost cringe at them. how do you find use for even half of those products? you could probably get rid of 75% of them and your skin wouldn't change. people keep up voting those big shelfie posts bc "omg look at all those products yes queen a true addict" when imo it's probs largely unnecessary and probably intimidates new skincarers and makes them think you need a huge routine.

[Review] Sometimes Expensive Things Are Worse/A lot of Product Reviews
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is a list of product reviews from things I’ve tried, mostly from 2019. The theme is disappointment with a lot of them because when I was first getting back into skincare I made the mistake of falling into the trap of getting products from Sephora and believing into the hype around them. General idea is that more expensive doesn’t mean it’s a better product. Throughout 2019 I really learned a lot about skincare, going into 2020 I’m feeling a lot happier with my choices than the beginning of last year. Each product I used until empty, unless stated otherwise. For reference, my skin is sensitive and dry while being prone to redness.Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream - One of the worst things I think I used to believe was the hype around pricier moisturizers. This is one of those. The texture and feeling of it is luxurious, as is the packaging. But that’s the bulk of the positives. This has a lot of silicones in it and does go on smoothly, but it can pill if you put too much on. The Ingredients aren’t particularly special and while this did leave my skin feeling moisturized, it didn’t outperform any cheaper dopes. Overall rating: 2/10Tatcha Water Cream - Worse than the Dewy Skin cream in every way and v gimmicky. The only part of this that I would say is a positive is that it had a unique texture. This one was not nearly enough to keep my dry skin feeling moisturized and I always had to add extra oil on top to even feel like it was worth using. I do have dry skin, but for the price I think this one falls really flat. I tried to use this in the summer when I wanted something lighter but all it did way make my skin feel kind of greasy while still not leaving it feeling moisturized. It has things advertised like gold being in it and honestly I could do without. Overall rating: 1/10Drunk Elephant Lala Retro original formula - This product has been reformulated since I tried it so this is for the old version. I bought this when I wanted a more moisturizing night cream. This is so thick it’s almost hard to spread, and while it did definitely deliver in it’s promises to keep my skin feeling moisturized, it also felt very heavy and made me look greasy. Nothing felt special about it other than the container being an airless pump and sometimes I felt like it mildly irritated my skin. I think cheaper alternatives also outperform this one. Overall rating: 1.5/10Drunk Elephant Protini moisturizer I tried this one from the Sephora birthday gift last year. The texture and feeling of it is neat. It’s light but still feels like a moisturizing cream, and it provided a nice cooling sensation when it went on. Past that though, I wasn’t impressed because it seemed to absorb right away but then leave my skin feeling just as dry. With prolonged use I think it irritated my skin a bit, but I really just think that pricy moisturizers are mostly about cosmetic elegance vs a better product. Overall rating: 1.5/10Sunday Riley CEO Glow Oil Vitamin C + Turmeric- Yikes. Got this before I knew about the practices of the company. This was my first higher end product advertised as vitamin c. I wanted something gentle and I did not find it here. The formula was very irritating and left my skin red every time after using. At the time I thought it might be normal because it had vitamin c, but looking back I should have stopped using it sooner because it was just hurting my skin. Very oily, takes forever to sink in, the smell is S T R O N G and something that belongs more in the kitchen than in skincare. A huge fail and something I wish I hadn’t tried. Overall Rating: 0/10Indie Lee COQ-10 Toner - When I first tried this I thought I had found a HG. So much so that I did repurchase it. I bought this originally when I wanted a gentle, hydrating toner that wouldn’t irritate my skin. It does come in a beautiful glass spray bottle which I did enjoy using. The spray makes it a lot more convenient to apply and it felt really high quality. The smell was another thing I enjoyed, it was very fresh and almost floral without being too much. This did what it claimed in terms of providing my skin with hydration and not irritating it, but there are SO many cheaper and better toners out there. I didn’t realize it at the time but this one is grossly overpriced for what it is. Yes, it feels luxurious and does what it says, but other products do more. Overall rating: 3.7/10Youth to the People Komucha 11% AHA Toner - I only used this up to about half of the bottle then switched to using it on the legs+arms. I bought this when I wanted a stronger chemical exfoliant. You put it on a cotton pad and swipe it on like that. The feeling was surprisingly mild, it didn’t sting at all like i expected it to. It did, however, leave my face a lot more red for a while after using it. It didn’t feel like it was irritating my skin though. One of my main complaints is how sticky it left my skin after I used it. It went away a bit after i would do the rest of my routine but for the price I did expect better. This did exfoliate my skin and make it softer, but in the end I felt like the formula was too harsh to keep using. This is on part my skin being sensitive, but I also think there are cheaper alternatives for this. Overall rating: 1/10Youth to the People kale cleanser - Oh no. I bought this during pride month when they were donating to LGBT charities and had a special label on the bottle. This dried out and stripped my skin so badly. It foams and it’s runny and I can’t name a positive thing about it. I stopped using this within a week or two because it was just wrecking my skin. Overall rating- 0/10Youth to the People Superberry Oil - Just to start, the smell of this oil is divine. The feeling of it is also nice, it absorbs into the skin quickly and easily mixes into other products. I layered this over and under my moisturizer and it worked well both ways. It never caused any pilling and did what it claimed in terms of hydrating the skin and locking in moisture. It did leave my skin with a bit of a glow as well. I don’t actually have anything against this product and I think it’s well formulated but it is still a lot for an oil. I didn’t repurchase due to price and cheaper alternatives but I did enjoy it while I used it. My favorite of the YTTP products that I’ve tried. Overall rating: 6/10Sunday Riley Juno Oil I did repurchase this oil once after using it but never again. The smell is something that’s hit or miss, I personally didn’t mind it but it is very strong. The thing I liked about this oil is that it sunk into my skin easily, absorbed fairly quickly, and left my skin with a slight glow. In the end I think it was causing some minor breakouts on the sides of my cheeks though, and the price just isn’t worth it for what it is. There are so many great oils are there for significantly less, and even for a luxury oil I don’t think it’s quality matched it’s price. Some oils really irritate my skin and this one mostly didn’t, so I did like that. But when you factor in the company itself, the price, and the alternatives, I feel silly for ever buying this. Overall rating 1/10Caudalie Vinoperfect Glycolic Essence This was the first essence I ever tried. I got a sample of it in a beauty box then bought a full sized bottle when I ran out. What impressed me about this was that it really did leave my skin looking brighter and seemed to help other products absorb better. It’s lightweight and the consistency is similar to water. With consistent nightly use of this I did have a brighter, more even toned complexion. It’s really gentle while still bringing some results. However, it’s super expensive for what it is and any glycolic acid product will produce the same results for way less of the cost. I was impressed when I first tried it but that was before I tried other essences and chemical exfoliants. Now I think it’s a more mediocre product. Overall rating: 3.5/10First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads These were my introduction into chemical exfoliation past the Caudalie essence. I honestly dislike these mostly because I think they’re almost useless. I also don’t like that they aren’t upfront with the amounts of lactic and glycolic acid that they contain, probably because it’s so low. These did nothing but manage to irritate my skin. They didn’t seem to exfoliate but did leave my skin redder and less calm. They’re also pricey, too much so for what they actually do. A 5% lactic acid from TO is a much better and more solid starting place imo. Overall Rating: 0/10First Aid Beauty Cleanser - People rave about this and I fell into the hype. This is a creamier cleanser and I did like that about it. Past that though, it dried out my skin and made my redness worse after using it. I may just be sensitive to one of the ingredients, but this just didn’t work for me. For a brand marketed towards sensitive skin I’ve actually found most of their products to be at least somewhat irritating. Like the pads, this also didn’t feel like it even did what it promised. While it didn’t leave my skin feeling super stripped, it also didn’t make it feel cleaner or fresher. This just isn’t a cleanser for me. 1.5/10First Aid Beauty Cannabis Oil I got this when I was really searching for products to calm my skin down. It claimed to reduce redness and soothe skin. I didn’t find either of those claims to be particularly true, but it did make my skin feel more moisturized like an oil would. It’s marketed as a dry oil but it still took a fair about of time to absorb into my skin. I’d put a few drops in my palms, warm it up a little, then pat it on. After I stopped using it I realized it had been the cause of my breakouts during the time, and once I stopped using it my skin went back to being clear. Another huge problem I had was with the packaging. The top of my dropper broke off, and when I emailed the company about it I got really rude customer service and no resolution. It was after this that I stopped buying from First Aid Beauty in general because I think they’re overpriced and ineffective. Overall rating: 1/10Tatcha Violet C mask - Aka my biggest regret in terms of a purchase. I bought this because I wanted a higher end mask and fell for the marketing. This mask claims to leave your skin glowing and softer but I literally think it does nothing. Good or bad, my skin looks and feels exactly the same after i use it. I still have a fair bit left and I got it last September. It’s thick and purple, feels kind of nice going on but that’s about it. Overall rating: 0/10Farmacy HoneyMoon Glow AHA Serum This is one of the only pricey products I’ve tried that I think might actually be worth it. This is a gentle but effective blend of AHAs. What I love is that it absorbed into my skin right away and didn’t leave it feeling dry at all. It would cause some slight tingling but nothing that indicated a lot of irritation, more just felt like it was working. The real win would come the next day though, because my skin would reliably look smoother and more glowing the day after I’d use it. I haven’t repurchased because I wanted something more gentle for the winter and as I started a retinoid, but this is a very nice formula and I might repurchase in the future. There may be cheaper and better alternatives but it is also a unique mix of things. Overall rating: 7.5/10Fresh Black Tea Kombucha Essence - This really irritated my skin. Honestly I just shouldn’t have tried it but I fell for all the marketing and reviews. Every time I used this my skin would feel worse in every way. Texture was worse, redness was worse, and there were pretty much no positives. The consistency is similar to water and it did absorb into my skin easily and well. It didn’t make my skin feel hydrated or better at all. I ended up using it on my neck and décolletage because my skin is less sensitive there. This might just be a YMMV, but I honestly think there are a bunch of way better essences out there that would do more. Overall rating- 0/10Fresh Seaberry Oil - This is another oil that smells good and does leave my skin feeling calm and moisturized, but that probably isn’t worth it. The bottle you get is big considering you only need a few drops each time you use it. This actually does a decent job of calming down my redness and making my skin feel calm. I mostly layered it under my moisturizer because that’s what the instructions said, and I liked how quickly it absorbed into my skin. It also mixed in well with my moisturizer. It’s nice oil blend, but probably not nicer than other oils that cost less. Overall Rating: 7/10Peter Thomas Roth Cloud Serum with HA I got this at the very beginning of getting back into skincare after not having done it for a while. I had no concept of the fact that a basic HA serum should cost nowhere near what they charge for this. It comes out as a thin, clear gel but it does feel kind of sticky once you put it on. It doesn’t feel nice at all and it doesn’t sink in well like other HA products that I’ve tried since. It didn’t irritate my skin but it also didn’t feel like it did much at all. Definitely something I regret trying, in retrospect. Overall Rating:0/10Caudalie S.O.S Thirst-Quenching Serum - This is another product that I tried more at the start of getting back into having a routine. I wanted a nice, hydrating serum so I got this one based on good reviews I saw. At the time I didn’t know about sites like cosDNA and I wasn’t as aware of what ingredients to look out for or not, so I definitely didn’t realize how much of a mediocre serum this was. It has fragrance in the middle of it’s ingredient list and other potentially irritating things in it as well. I did like the milky feel and consistency of this serum, and that smell was nice, but it doesn’t compare to cheaper alternatives. It left my skin feeling fairly hydrated but not particularly soothed or calm. It didn’t make my skin look any different either way. I think it’s another overpriced product that mostly is different because of it’s cosmetic elegance. Overall Rating: 3/10Glossier- HA and vitamin C serums, rich priming moisturizer, Milky Jelly Cleanser, and Sunscreen - I’m packing all of these reviews into one section because a theme with Glossier products is they just don’t work well. The vitamin C literally did notice for my skin and there’s not much to say besides I feel like it’s a waste of a product. The HA serum is very thick compared to other HA serums and products. It doesn’t sink in well and isn’t as easy to layer. It’s also on the pricier side and I feel like you’re mostly paying for the label of the brand here. The priming rich moisturizer was one of the first ‘nicer’ heavy moisturizers that I tried. I say nicer because I thought for the price it would be higher quality. It has things like lavender oil in it which I think irritated my skin. It’s a thick, heavy moisturizer like advertised. It left my skin feeling greasy and never seemed to absorb fully. The smell was strong, like lavender, and I wouldn’t recommend it. The sunscreen made my skin red and feel like it was burning so I only tried it once but it definitely wasn’t for my skin. The milky jelly cleanser was the nicest out of all of their products that I tried. It’s a jelly like cleanser that can be used on dry or wet skin. It gently cleanser and is a little harder to rinse off than some other cleansers, but it didn’t leave a film or anything behind. It didn’t make my skin feel dry but it also didn’t make it feel any better than any other cleanser. I wouldn’t rate anything over a 1/10Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen - I did enjoy this product and I repurchased several times until I found a cheaper alternative that I like more. This sunscreen feels more like a primer than anything. It has a slight yellow tint which goes away as soon as you put it on. It has no white cast and would always leave my skin looking like it had kind of a glow. I liked how easy it was to apply, it didn’t take any extra rubbing in or anything. The price per ounce is pretty crazy though, especially if you reapply your sunscreen and use a fair amount everyday. I wouldn’t actually recommend it but it isn’t a bad product by any means, I just think there are lots of other options out there. Overall rating: 7.5/10Belief True Cream Moisturizing Bomb - I’m still going through this because I got it to replace my nighttime moisturizer when they had their holiday kits out. I do enjoy this moisturizer a lot. It has a slight lemony scent but it doesn’t cause my skin any irritation. It’s thicker but spreads easily and absorbs into my skin fully in a minute or so after being applied. It’s great to mix a drop of oil into to boost even more. It does a good job of keeping my skin feeling moisturized. I haven’t notice any negatives personally, I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase but I definitely am liking using it for now. Overall Rating: 8.5/10Belief Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask - I got this before I tried their moisturizer, I wanted it because the Cosrx rice overnight mask broke me out and I had heard great things about this one. This is easily one of my favorite products in my routine. It’s such a unique consistency, very much like jello. It’s light blue and has a dreamy cooling feeling when you put it on. It says to only do a thin layer which I think is important because when I do a thicker layer it tends to pill a bit. With a thin layer there’s no issues though. It isn’t moisturizing but it’s excellent at locking in your layers of moisture and hydration underneath it. It dries down quickly and really feels like it helps my skin not get dry overnight. It’s pricier but you only use a tiny bit and it lasts forever so I do think it’s worth it. Overall Rating: 9.5/10Stratia Liquid Gold - Everything that’s good that people say about this is true. So good, a true HG. This is a versatile product that could act as a light moisturizer or more of a heavy serum under a thicker moisturizer. It’s easy to mix with other products and has a wonderful silky consistency. It absorbs into the skin fully and quickly, and the only thing about it is that it does have a bright yello/orange color to it. A little bit goes a long though so it mostly isn’t a problem. It leaves my skin feeling so soft, moisturized, and soothes. I usually put a thicker moisturizer on top of it but I definitely don’t always feel like I have to. One of my absolute favorite products for sure and would recommend forever Overall Rating: 10/10Stratia Soft Touch This has a clear gel consistency and is easy to spread and pat on. It absorbs quickly and I’d usually give it a 20 minutes wait between using it and moving on with my routine. My biggest complaint is how dry it made my skin. It literally left it with dry spots of skin that were almost flaking off and my skin usually isn’t to that level of dry. On the other hand, it did reduce my redness every time after using it, and it did left my skin softer. It was gentle enough to use a few times a week, and I love that it didn’t sting or cause any redness like other chemical exfoliants that I’ve tried. I just ran out and got TO lactic acid to replace it, but I wouldn’t rule out repurchasing in the future. It’s super gentle but it does exfoliate and the formula is nice. Overall Rating: 8/10Stratia Rewind - I have about half a bottle left of this. It’s a basic niacinamide serum but it does it’s just and the consistency is great. It’s on the thinner side of a serum, almost like an essence. It’s a runny, lightweight gel serum that is a little sticky after you apply it but that fades once you move on to the rest of your routine. So far I’ve noticed some gentle brightening effects and it just makes my skin feel soothed when I put it on. It reduces my redness a little bit and I think like all the Stratia products that I’ve tried, the formula is top notch and the results are there. Overall Rating: 8.5/10

[Shelfie] Preface: I think I gave myself carpal tunnel writing this "book-long" review. I am excited to finally share after learning and lurking and reading all the amazing content on this subreddit!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My Skin: Combo/Dehydrated/Redness & Acne ProneIn a routine I am looking to: keep acne at bay, fade dark marks/even skin tone, try and prevent flushing/rednessAdditional skin info: I am on birth control and while that did help my acne; I would still break out around my time of the month. These products and this routine has practically eliminated acne. I used to get a few pimples around my mouth was the most common spot, and every now and then cystic acne, which is the worst. I am really happy with where my skin is now and not only does it look good, but it feels good.A.M. Routine:Pixi Glow Tonic 5% Glycolic AcidLRP Toleriane Double Repair MoisturizerSunscreenP.M. Routine:Micellar Water, rinse with water.Either Differin or AACorsx or Hada Labo, mist with evian, during this step.LRP Toleriane Double Repair MoisturizerLRP Lipikar Balm AP+Vaseline on lips(This is the basic routine, and other products are added depending upon how I feel)shelfieLets dive into the reviews!Cleansers**Simple Micellar Water-**I use this at night, most nights. Take of my make-up, or to lazily clean my face. I used to not rinse it off, and it kind of sucks that rinsing is the better thing to do as this is my “lazy” clean, but now I will throw some water on my face afterwards. No problems or issues with it. I'm on my second bottle and WRP**Vanicream-**bought this cleanser when I had perioral dermatitis. Its very gentle, won’t take off makeup effectively, but it cleans the skin. I have no issues with it. I am a little over halfway done with it. I'm interested in oil-cleansing, as well as finding a cleanser that is hydrating, so if you guys have any recommendations, I'm all ears. WNRP, not because its bad, just because it is so basic, I’d like to try something different.PanOxyl Benzol Peroxide 10% Creamy Wash- “The Atomic Bomb Acne Killing Machine”. This got my acne under control; I use this maybe 1x every 2 weeks in the shower. Never experienced any eyebrow bleaching, and I have been using this for years, at least 4. I like to let it sit on my face while I have conditioner in my hair. I use this more frequently on my body, works great. This is very drying (on the face) and if you combine it with any other active you will burn your face. I will always have this on hand because it is very effective.**Albolene-**Takes off makeup well but leaves a residue that makes it hard to continue a skin care routine, if you don’t wash it off. I don’t use this often, because I think it’s a little bit of a pain. I would use a liquid oil than Crisco. WNRPNizoral- shampoo. I use this about 1x a week or every 2 weeks. best thing i have found to fight dandruff. works way better than using head and shoulders multiple times a week.ActivesPixi Glow Tonic 5% Glycolic Acid- have been using this for about 3-4 months now. I didn’t use it that often in the beginning, but I have started using it in the mornings to address dark marks on my skin. My old acne marks have been fading, which is a positive. I think this is very gentle and haven’t had any issues with it. WRP**Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster-**this will be a brand-new product for me. I have used things that have had niacinamide in them and didn’t have any adverse reactions, so I am looking forward to using this. I will definitely be going slow. I need to see what can and cannot be mixed with this. WRP**Paula’s Choice 15% Azelaic Acid-**have used this since the end of last summer, around 6 months. I purchased it to help with flushing. I have to be honest, I use this maybe once a week. I am almost out of this, so I just purchased another one, and am going to start using this more consistently, and alternate it with Differin. Now that my acne is pretty much under control, I want to address: Redness. WRP**Differin Gel Adapalene 0.1%-**My tried and true. Use this almost every night, at least 4x a week I would say. I have used Differin lazily and in combo with bad routines for about 2 years, but this past year I have delved deeper into skincare, checking COSDNA & skincarisma, and everything together has given me skin THAT RARELY GETS A MF’N PIMPLE! WRP….ALWAYS.**Stridex Pad Salicylic Acid 2%-**Holy-Grail. Cheap. Effective. It just makes sense, Capeesh? I don’t use this on my face, maybe 1x a month, but after every shower you can find me rubbing these little pads all over this body. This along with washing my body with PanOxyl, has made a WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE in not only body acne, but KP. My arms are wayyy less blotchy. I used to more often than not, have a pimple or two on my shoulders, especially where my sports bra sat, and doing this has eliminated that. Rarely I will get a pimple there, but I think that’s when I don’t use the PanOxyl frequently, or don’t change out of my workout clothes fast enough. I am getting my fiancé to do his arms, back of his elbows, and it has made a big difference for him too. Takes time, so you have to be patient, but it does work. WRP**Clean and Clear Salicylic Acid 0.5%-**I used to use this as my only moisturizer before I knew about skin care. And yes, I was doing physical exfoliation, the dreaded St. Ives to scrub off my heavy makeup, PanOxyl, Differin, basically nuking my face. My skin has less acne and looks better now, unsurprisingly. I’ve stopped using this on my face, I was mixing it with my Cerave Sunscreen to thin it out, but I haven’t done that in a while. I do apply this on my body after a shower. On my shoulders and backs of my arms as I have KP. I WNRP as I think it is unnecessary with my current skincare routine. I purchase Eucerin Advanced Repair and similar lotions so why buy the Clean and Clear?**Sulfur-**used sulfur for that rash. Originally purchased sulfur bar soap. Was fine, I have used sulfur mask in the past, so I do like the product. I purchased not too long ago the sulfur mask, and I use it less often than I would use the soap. Partially because my skin has been needing moisture, my cheeks are/were dehydrated, sulfur is drying, and if you leave it on too long, I would get burning. I definitely want to use this more, maybe not on my cheeks, but to try it on my body. I am thinking of repurchasing the bar soap though! WRPMad Hippie Vitamin C Serum- I wanted this stuff so bad, finally purchased it, and then there was a lot of talk about how vitamin C “may or may not work”. Well poopy. So I haven’t been using it. maybe 2x a month. A lot of it is because I have other actives that I like more, so I don’t always see the value in it, but I need to use this up, so I'm going to try to get it into rotation. As of right now, WNRP. Anybody use this, or Vitamin C? What are your thoughts?Moisturizers**Corsx Snail Essence-**I think this is pretty well known. I enjoy using it out of the shower, or before moisturizer. Surprisingly my fiancé has taken a big liking to it as well. I find this very gentle and I appreciate the fact that it is supposed to help with healing, that’s why I originally purchased this, as I was dealing with a rash and needed gentle products, and it is good for sensitive skin, or times when everything stings. I actually just ran out and bought a new bottle when Ulta was having their sale, so it was perfect timing! WRPPurito Buffet Serum-this guy sits in the fridge. I may or may not forget about him and apply him only when I'm experiencing flushing or I'm hot. I do like the product; I enjoy keeping it in the fridge. Not too much to say about it as I don’t use it on a regular basis, but it hasn’t caused any acne or made anything worse. WRP (I am interested in trying other things from this brand)**Hado Labo Plumping Gel-**On my second jar of this and it is actually empty, I need to order more. this is one of the products I got when I was dealing with perioral dermatitis and starting my skincare journey. I used to apply it dry and as my only moisturizer….the horror! I know better now. J I am going to repurchase this, but I am playing around with the idea of getting one of their “toners” the tall bottles, with the more liquidy solution. Idk. No particular reason expect to try something different. I may get 2 things, reorder this, and try a new one. Any recommendations? WRPDr. Jart Cicapair Cream-I really really like this stuff! I got it just a few days ago at TJ MAXX. (Yes, I checked the dates J) The consistency is thick, it is a little hard to describe, it reminds me of a non-greasy ointment. It has a centella smell, but I enjoy it. What I love about this is how hydrating it is. I used it the other night as my only moisturizer, and I woke up with my face feeling supple, and moisturized. But like the moisture really sunk in and was just bathing my face and sticking around. Very very nice. I don’t know if its intended to be a all over the face cream or more of a treating sensitive areas cream, but its good! I may switch to using it only on my cheeks. Disclaimer: It will cause piling if you apply anything on top. 100% WRP**LRP Cicaplast B5-**Got this when I again, like an idiot, couldn’t help myself from using PanOxyl and Differin and my cheeks were stinging and sensitive. I have learned my lesson enough times now that I won’t do that again anymore. Very thick consistency. I don’t use it on a regular basis as my face is fine now, but it was very hydrating and protecting. WRP**LRP Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer-**My Holy-Grail Moisturizer! I love this formulation. Goes on smooth, feels like it is just hydrating my skin up! Great consistency, not heavy or greasy. it’s a little pricey for the amount in my opinion. Y’all, even my fiancé commented that he really liked this product. And he normally just puts on the stuff because I tell him to, so for him to say that means that this actually feels very nice on the face. I recommend 100%. WRPLRP Lipikar Balm AP+ A more recent purchase, 3 weeks max. I wasn’t sure about this at first because I had a few really tiny, like 3 pimples one day, shortly after starting to use it. But I kept going and no issues or other acne. I purchased this because my cheeks were sensitive, felt a little dry, and like they weren’t moisturized enough. This has solved that. it has a thick consistency, but not too heavy. It definitely takes a little while to absorb, but I am not experiencing the cheek sensitivity anymore, so I’d say it’s doing its job. I would buy the “regular” version of this, and not the AP+ next time, as I think this could possibly be too heavy for summer, but then again, I might stick with this. WRP If you have tried both or even the non-AP+ version, how is it? Thanks!Cerave (in the tub)- [not pictured] bought this when I had that rash. I also had really dehydrated skin at the time, because like a dumbass I used PanOxyl and Differin and burned my face, and this stung. I ended up returning it and haven’t tried it since. I would be willing to give it another chance, but I don’t foresee myself repurchasing as I really like LRP moisturizers.SPFElta MD Sunscreen UV 46 Clear- [not pictured] My Holy-Grail sunscreen. Why tf is it so expensive?! This is formulated for Redness-prone/sensitive skin. It also contains niacinamide, fyi. I loved the consistency, very light, liquidy, no white cast, or shine, it just “absorbs”. My fiancé wanted in on this magical goodness and we went through it really quickly soon after. We went to a waterpark this summer, and I applied it on all of our faces, probably like 3 times on the way there, because I believe in overkill, and with no reapplications, we did not get burned at all. And I'm super pale, my friend is white with freckles across the cheeks, and no one was even a little red. Great stuff. Once I finish my 2 sunscreens mentioned below, I WRP.**Eucerin Redness Relief-**I really like this. It has a green tint that helps conceal redness. Not “I'm having a flare-up” redness or “acne marks” redness, but it WILL cover/even out normal pink-y cheeks. This is more of a watery consistency and goes on smooth, very slight shine but not bad. If you use too much, it will show, as the excess dries in a green smudge line. You have to make sure you don’t let any excess settle in your creases (think nose area) or people will be able to tell. But it does what it is supposed to. Makeup goes over it fine. I wish it was a little higher in SPF (this is only SPF 15) but it's not the end of the world.**Cerave A.M. Lotion-**Not bad, not great. Good: The product does what it is supposed to, it is a little shiny, but didn’t cause any acne or reaction. (This does have niacinamide btw) I don’t like the consistency, it is very thick, yet it dries very fast, so you have to have a little bit of technique in applying this. Bad: The worst part about it is that it DOES NOT PLAY NICE with anything you may want to put on top of it. If you try and put foundation over it, especially if it is still tacky, it will look awful, cause pilling, just overall not attractive. WNRPExtrashttps://preview.redd.it/xizrszai0ed41.jpg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7822276cce3f44d7d23387633592525c010a47b3Burt’s Bees lip oil (Sweet Almond)-[not pictured] Think this is just a tube of oil, it actually “dries/absorbs” pretty quickly, and I don’t find it to be overly hydrating. At least not for long term moisture. It is a thin, liquidly, consistency. WNRPVaseline Lippies- Pretty obvious. Just seals the lips. I put this on as a last step. I got it because my lips get so freaking dry. Like I woke up and they were bleeding kinda dry. It is like my skin is thin and dry and easily cracks. This is okay. I recently started applying my LRP Moisturizer over my lips as well, so we will see if that helps. I would be open to hearing any hydrating lip products. WRP**Diaper Rash Cream-**Last spring I had Perioral Dermatitis, that what actually kicked off me getting serious about my products and starting a routine. Was the absolute worst, itchy, red, scaly, moustache rash, omfg. It’s super embarrassing too, and my dumb ass was using cortisone cream to treat it, which if you don’t know, makes it worse!!! It was awful. Once I finally figured out what was going on, I got this, and it cleared it right up. I would use it as a spot treatment, like an occlusive. WRP**Evian Facial Water Spray/Mist-**Love! Recent purchase from TJ MAXX. I would always see these tall beautiful bottles mocking me, and I finally broke down and bought it, and I'm so happy that I did. Not only because it is great when applying something like Hada Labo and it helps with wetting my face. But I can spritz my face whenever, and it is really refreshing! But also, I feel super fancy. It adds the “oomph” to my routine. Even my fiancé liked it for that same reason. Troop Beverly Hills, here I come. #spritzle-ditzle WRP**Face Icepack-**Recent purchase from the “TJ”. I really the concept, it doesn’t stay cold for too long, ice cold for maybe 5-10minutes, and cool for up to 20minutes. I know you’re not supposed to ice for too long but if you are in the middle of a: “hot red face flare-up” then dammit you need it to stay cold, not cool.**Metal Facial Roller-**From the dollar store, I keep it in the freezer. Like the idea of it, but don’t like this one as it stays cold for about all of 2 minutes. I will probably purchase a nicer version one day, but its not a priority.Holistichttps://preview.redd.it/twt4f02tzdd41.jpg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a131460e46a58001c97250b096344e5a4c5e351**Sleepytime Celestial Seasonings Tea-**This is a new brand that I am drinking. I normally purchase: “Traditional Medicinals Organic Nighty Night Tea”. That one has more in it, but the version I have now, was A-cheaper and bigger box, and B-had Valerian. Both blends have an undisclosed amount of Spearmint so that could be helping my skin as well.**Honey-**I finished a bottle of the Probiotic one, this is my new unopened replacement. My fiancé spoiled me and bought that expensive ass honey, so I have been using that one, I think pretty conservatively, and it is going quick! *sad face* I think the manuka honey has a better softer taste, but I'm not sure if it is worth the price. I know it claims to do something and I don’t know if it actually does or if it is just smart marketing. Anybody know more about this? I'm considering doing a honey mask, with the cheaper one, but I don’t know if it is worth the sticky mess?? Thoughts?**Fish Oil-**Half the size because I cannot swallow horse pills J lol. take these because I heard they are a good source of Omega 3s which the SAD lacks, and they can help reduce inflammation, and by hopefully extension, facial flushing.**Probiotics-**I specifically take this brand because it has 10 strains. But not just any strains, a lot of the ones the blog “skincarescience” recommends. A big plus is that it is only like $10 for 60pills. I have only found this brand at Walmart. I wish they sold a bigger bottle but what can you do?**Multivitamin-**I appreciate the fact that it has a few “beauty-boosters” in it. ie-collagen, argan oil, ect. Not sure if it does anything, but I do like it as a multivitamin and it’s a good price for a big bottle, so I would buy it regardless, plus it’s a soft gel.**Diet-**I have tried to incorporate a few “anti-inflammatory foods” (berries, salmon, ginger/turmeric/garlic) but I don’t religiously eat just that. I still eat processed meals, ex-lean cuisine is a solid lunch, and I eat chocolate almost every day, and for a few months I ate an ice cream every night, or a small glass of milk with dessert. Coffee with milk everyday also. (On an unrelated note, since May my fiancé and I have lost a ton of weight! He’s down 100lbs and I went from around 220lbs to 150lbs; So, kids, it’s all about the calories!) I would like to one day eat a “cleaner” diet and cut sugar, processed food, and caffeine, and see how I feel and if I notice any changes. Conclusion: I would be interested in hearing your suggestions if you have them on: Hydrating cleanser (preferably a jelly), a toner or essence (I will re-order hada labo skin plumping, but I'm considering the kikasame one or other hada labo ones), and if there is a good gentle mask (wanting to put them in the fridge) for a good price, and finally if you guys use a specific facial ice pack or anything “cooling” as in a roller or whatever…Thanks!
