Beauty Tips For Body Care
Sunscreen is important, no one is saying it isn't. So don't come at me for that. But over the years I've seen the idea of "sunscreen is important" morphing into "you must have a one inch layer of sunscreen at every waking moment and reapply every hour or you'll turn into a wrinkly ballsack and no one will love you". I exaggerate, but not by much.I've seen people both on this sub and off freaking out because they didn't wear sunscreen for the 5 minutes it took them in the morning to let their dog out to poop. I've seen people avoiding the sun like the plague to the point it affects their daily activities. Staying out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day? Common sense. Refusing to be outside in sunlight for any amount of time, even when the uv index is low? Insanity. You won't turn into a wrinkly prune because you decided to have some fun at the beach with your friends, and you shouldn't limit the activities in life that make you happy out of fear of looking a little older. Wear sunscreen, and go to the beach when the sun isn't blinding and the uv index isn't extreme. A little bit of sun isn't going to kill you, and is especially important in colder months to ward off SAD.I'm just so frustrated, and this mentality of "you must look no older than 30 years old forever and even a single wrinkle means you become unattractive" is getting so old, and it affects young girls the most.I've seen my teenage sister's friends worrying about whether sun exposure during PE (they already wear sunscreen) will damage their skin. Teen girls on insta telling other teen girls to not go swimming at a daytime pool party because it might give them freckles. Panicking and freaking out because they forgot sunscreen for a couple of days. It's also turning the desire for bright, clear skin into a competition for who can look the youngest and just....ughIt's just so disheartening. Sun damage is a thing, sunscreen for skin cancer prevention is necessary, but when did sun protection turn into a paranoia that keeps people from enjoying their lives to the fullest? What's the point of being smooth and young looking at 60 if you spent your youth locked away in a windowless room?
