There is significant power in this community to demand change.Please use this thread to post links to contact your favorite skincare brands and demand they start using eco-friendly or zero waste packaging. I would also appreciate if people posted brands that are currently using reduced plastic-free or reduced plastic packaging.You can use the following as a template for your message:Dear [COMPANY],I am a loyal and regular customer of your skincare products, specifically [PRODUCT YOU PURCHASE]. However, I am deeply concerned with your current use of plastic packaging. Plastic has been known to cause serious damage to both human health and the environment. Your use of plastic packaging deeply concerns me for the following reasons:Plastic is created with harmful chemicals that are absorbed by our bodies and can negatively impact our hormones, causing serious disruptions to our endocrine system.Plastic is not biodegradable and will remain on this planet forever, breaking down into small microplastics that can contaminate sources of our drinking water.Plastic has created massive amounts of garbage in the ocean and in landfills, poisoning and injuring the wildlife that live there and leeching dangerous chemicals into our groundwater.Plastic is created using oil, a non-renewable energy source that is produced using harmful methods that pollute our air. Transportation of oil has been known to break and contaminate water supplies.Half of all plastic on this planet today was created in the past 15 years. Your company is directly responsible for a significant amount of this waste. As your customer, I urge you to find an eco-friendly and/or zero waste alternative to your current packaging. If you do not comply with this request I will be forced to seek out a new brand that is more aligned with my personal ethics. There are a significant amount of skincare brands that are adapting to zero waste and eco-friendly packaging. Many of your customers are concerned with your practices of using plastic packaging and will stop purchasing your products in favor of brands that are more aligned with their values.Please own up to your responsibility for the harm you are creating for both your customers and our planet.
