Beauty Tips For Body Care
Over the past couple of years, my skin has been relatively clear of outbreaks, aside from the occasional hormonal pimples. My skin care routine consisted of washing with Neutrogena Hydro Boost and whatever moisturizer I happened to grab. Nothing serious. However, when quarantine hit, I decided to do something about my dull and scarred patches from years of teenage acne. After doing some research, I bought some TO products and Mad Hippie face wash. Fast forward two weeks, and my face looked like this. What started as small bumps on my forehead, suddenly took over the entire left side of my face. It took a week of Benadryl and hydrocortisone cream to make the outbreak/rash disappear. I suspected it might have been the new face products, though all had been spot tested and worked fine together for two weeks before the breakout. I also suspected it may have been a recent switch in detergents (from Tide liquid to Tide Pods). While my face was broken out, I had scheduled a COVID antibody test at a local urgent care center. While there, I asked the doctor if she had any clue about my outbreak. She told me it was just typical acne...After that breakout, I stopped using most of my products and decided to introduce each slowly, one by one. I started with the Mad Hippie face wash. While my face did not break out all over again, the small bumps on my forehead persisted. I thought maybe it could be fungal acne and decided to stick with a water wash only for a bit. As my skin cleared, I decided to finally schedule a dermatologist appointment to get to the bottom of it and have a clear answer.Within five minutes of being at the dermatologist’s, showing her the pictures of the outbreak and my current skin, she diagnosed me with rosacea. And then it all made sense. My mom has rosacea. I have the flushed T zone when I workout. The outbreak was caused by irritants, both in the detergent and the new face products. I’m now sticking with water washes until I can do more research about products to use. The derm also prescribed me a prescription pill and cream to help.Long story short, I now have to replace all of my products with rosacea safe products (any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !) because I was too stubborn to just see the dermatologist. Save yourself time, money, tears, and frustration. It could be a simple answer.
