[Skin Concerns] Does anyone else’s face get really oily AND dry from wearing masks?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve been wearing masks to school daily, and it’s taken a toll on my face. I can always feel the condensation building up, and it’s making my face look extremely shiny. It’s also irritating my skin and making it dry. Any help?

[Hair Removal] What kind of products for dark spots (caused by ingrown hairs )? some help for a total newbie please ?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone ! so I have fairly pale skin and I am very hairy, naturally I wax as frequently as possible and this often leaves me with ingrown hairs ... that later leave dark spots , and its very noticeable on my skin. Right now I have a big spot on my butt (for +2months now) and another one on my stomach and it makes me hate looking in the mirror :c .I have never used any skin product (except for sunscreen), so I dont really know if there is anything that can help with preventing ingrown hairs. If not I would just like to get rid of the dark spots they leave behind .I guess my question is what kind of products could I get for my problem ?and by the way, I will probably not find the exact product in my country so what is the actual component I should look for in order to get a similar product?? ( does that make sense ? )Additional ( and kind of embarrassing ) question : would these skin products be safe to use on my bikini area ? is this something people do ???

[Misc] Unpopular Skincare Decisions
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was thinking about this recently because I am running out of both my cleansers that have fragrance. One is the Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel Cleanser that I use at night and the other was recommended by my esthetician and has citrus in it and use in the AM. I am not sensitive to fragrance and I actually prefer it when cleansing even though I know its not recommended. I was in CVS and was super close to purchasing the La Rosche cleanser for normal to oily but at the last minute I went and repurchased the hydroboost. My skin has looked better than it has in months recently I am not changing something that is working.TL;DR - I like cleansers with fragrance. What are your unpopular skincare decisions?

[Product Question] Moisturizers WITHOUT hyaluronic acid
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi hi! F, 26, USA here. I have very dry, peeling, and raw-feeling skin on my face. I am on a variety of medications that undoubtedly make it worse, and it’s gotten to the point where it’s painful and uncomfortable.Like the title says, I’m looking for moisturizers that are ok for the face for VERY DRY skin that do not contain Hyaluronic Acid or Sodium Hyaluronate. Unfortunately, it causes deep, cystic breakouts.I’ve basically put my whole routine on hold because my skin is too dry to handle anything.Previously I was using (and LOVING) the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream but it causes blackheads, rip. I’m open to practically any brand or price point, USA availability.Help me, ScA-Kenobi, you’re my only hope.

[PSA] ulta raising prices for 40% off sale? la roche posay.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
i was very excited to see the 40% off la roche posay for platinum and diamond members but disappointed that my fave sunscreen was $3.50 more than usual. doing a quick search online it’s still $33.50 everywhere else. makes that 40% off not as nice. still a good deal but not 40%! i know it used to be the same price as everywhere else, just not sure if they raised prices just for today or everyday.https://www.ulta.com/anthelios-50-mineral-ultra-light-sunscreen-fluid-spf-50?productId=xlsImpprod4350455https://www.dermstore.com/product_Anthelios+UltraLight+Tinted+Mineral+Sunscreen+SPF+50_39190.htm

How/when do you exfoliate flaky skin? [Skin Concerns]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Info:0.1% Tret cream user, for acne/anti-ageing purposes. I put it on every night and my skin is tolerating everything well, as I avoid any products that would cause irritation, I also wear sunscreen on my face/lips every day, and use vaseline on my lips during the night and sometimes during the day.Luckily my skin isn't irritated/breaking out. I do however, get flakes around my mouth area. Also, a new layer of dead skin falls off my lips every single day, so ofc I have a lot of flakes on them as well. I want to remove them off my face, but I'm worried it would cause irritation. Do you think a short contact acid or a washcloth would be safe to try?

[PSA] Something we all know, but that I have to re-learn every now and then: the skin in your face is far more delicate than you think, even if you don't have sensitive skin.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Like many of you, I've been on a long skin journey, littered with many products I should have known better than to use, at least as frequently as I did. I wish I could tap my past self on the shoulder and whisper "be gentle" so many times. To name just a few:- Clean and Clear acne wash (the purple stuff) every day and night on my 12-year-old skin: why was this ever ok?- Clearasil pads, scrubbed across my face twice a day: NO.- PanOxyl every day, even when my face was red and burned: who told me I could burn my acne off of my face?- Witch hazel toner with 14% denatured alcohol: absolutely not. What was I thinking, that it's normal for skin to suddenly feel "tight" at 18?- Weekly masks. That promised to peel the top layer of skin off my face. And did.- Weekly Aztec clay masks, that caused teeny tiny scratches all over my face: I used this AFTER the memes started about apricot scrub - how did I think this was at all better?- Nizoral masks for ten minutes, twice a day (you can't have fungal acne on your face if you don't have a face!)- Peeling solutions and acid exfoliants. My most recent conquest. It was only after I said out loud that "It just feels like my skin is unhappy" that I reconsidered my frequent use of "gentle acids."If you know your products work, keep using them! But if your skin seems like it just isn't healing when it seems like it should, please consider that if you are "fighting" acne, you are also fighting your face. Instead of "fighting," I now focus on "healing."

Gothamista might be 500IQ-ing the influencer game by staying humble and not trying to be a derm [MISC]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hear me out. I am not here to make any points about sponsorships, products and who was in scandals. But here is what I have noticed about Gothamista compared to a lot of other skincare gurus. She approaches things from the perspective of an enthausiast, and isn’t trying to be an expert on formulations and anatomy. And not JUST by saying that she’s not a skin expert... but by also practicing it.. by NOT preaching. She has her biases, like her preference for certain ingredients, or organic sun blocks over physical ones. But she will never say “you should be doing THIS”, instead she will always elegantly say how it’s her preference/her skin likes it more, or state that IF something is a concern for YOU, you might want to skip a product. One example of her presenting data without being preachy is uplifting modern organic filters in sunscreen.Or praising chemical exfoliation and double cleansing, without yelling at her audience on what they should do Or ELsE.And in her review of DE she never specifically stated anything about the effecacy of their sunscreen, but just cleverly mentioned how US regulations regarding UVA protection are lackluster and how she personally prefers organic sunscreens. She also states how she would be unconfortable mixing things into their sunscreen despite the brand’s claims. She gets her points across subtly and stays in her lane of expertise, and once you see it- you appreciate that about her.

[Misc] How are we supposed to reduce eye wrinkles when tretinoin and vitamin C serums are not recommended to be used around eyes?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'd love to reduce the fine eye wrinkles I have below my eyes (the ones that start in the inner corner and extend below the lashline). But:I saw Dr Dray saying she avoids tretinoin around eyes.So I wanted to buy a vitamin C product from The Ordinary and with all their ascorbic acid products they state that we should avoid the eye area.Am I missing something? How are we supposed to non-invasively and gently target fine eye wrinkles? Of course, sunscreen is for prevention, but what about actually fighting those lines?

[Review] A comparison of 5 AB acne pimple patches (COSRX/SOME BY MI/Etude House/A'pieu/Mizon)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all, I hope my post is within guidelines. Over the past years I've been battling hormonal acne and Sahara level dry skin so I tried a few different acne pimple patches and wanted to share my experience, hopefully it might help somebody.Type of acne: Hormonal + some from sensitive skinSkin type / concerns: sensitive and very dryI'm going to rate them by adhesion, absorption, staying power, amount of patches and overall feel.Patch sizes: 7mm & under - tiny, 10mm and under - medium, above 10mm - big.[COSRX] - Acne Pimple Master Patch 5.75/10Adhesion 7/10: adheres nicely but could be better with dry skin, some corners might come off, average thickness.Absorption 7/10: takes a while to get everything out.Staying Power 5/10: these tend to fall off me by the morning.Amount of Patches 4/10: 10 tiny + 5 medium + 9 big (24) - the tiny ones are useless to me to be honest, I wouldn't use patches on the kind of tiny pimples these would cover and they don't stay on well.Overall these patches are alright, but for their price I only get to use 14/24 patches so not worth it. Average price ~$3.50 (I bough mine from 3 different sources over time, all were the same, be careful though because it seems there are fake versions on Amazon.) These patches are overhyped, there are better out there.[Etude House] - AC Clean Up Spot Patch 6/10 (small package version)Adhesion 7/10: not bad adhesion, these were thinner than other patches, less visible.Absorption 6/10: average absorption, nothing out of the ordinary, meaning there was still some left under the skin.Staying Power 7/10: stayed well overnight but pulled easily in the morning.Amount of Patches 4/10: 8 medium + 8 big (16) I got the small version so it had the least amount of patches of them all, it's a bit confusing because they keep updating the packaging and the different patches inside.Overall not bad but nothing that made me want to repurchase, none of that added "medication" did anything for me. Average price ~$3 for 16 patches compared to others is not good.[Mizon] - Bye Bye Pimple Patch 9.75/10Adhesion 10/10: great adhesion, these are the type that have a thick center and thinner edges, best design.Absorption 9/10: great absorption, filled up and got fat overnight.Staying Power 10/10: stayed on very well, sometimes it was a bit painful to peel it off, that's how you know it's good lol.Amount of Patches 10/10: 24 medium, in my experience with cystic hormonal acne this is the best size of patches that you're going to use most of the time if not all the time so that was a winner.Overall these were great and I'm getting more, there are pricier than others with an average price of $4, they seem to be getting more expensive nowadays though.[A'pieu] - Cica Clear Spot Patch 9.25/10Adhesion 9/10: great adhesion but with an even thickness. While still somewhat thick they seem to become invisible on my skin.Absorption 10/10: great absorption, they get real fat.Staying Power 9/10: stayed on very well, they're thick but very flexible.Amount of Patches 9/10: 10 medium + 10 big (20), good assortment of patches but wish there were more.Overall these are great patches, my current go to is between these Mizon when it's in stock. They work great but are a bit expensive with an average price of $4.[SOME BY MI] - 30 Day Miracle Clear Spot Patch 9/10Adhesion 10/10: same as Mizon, thick center with thin edges design, best designAbsorption 10/10: best absorption of all the patches I tried, they get pretty fat.Staying Power 10/10: stayed on very well due to the design, same as Mizon.Amount of Patches 6/10: 9 medium + 9 big (18), however because the thin edge is bigger than the Mizon ones you would rather count these as 9 small + 9 medium and I wish there were more in the packaging.Overall these were great but the average price being ~$5 is super expensive, most expensive of all and they have less than the average amount of patches. Are they worth it? well that's debatable, I would take Mizon over these if they were in stock any day. For less or a similar price (depending where you buy it) you get 6 more patches of the same great design and quality. And lastly I want to add a western brand I tried from Amazon as a warning, "Le Goushe" Acne Pimple Master Patch 72 dots" for $12, these were just plain bad, no absorption, no adhesion, and to top it all off, when I left a 3 star review on Amazon I got harassed by the vendor to the point of deleting my Amazon account. No thanks, next.

[ROUTINE HELP] Cerave wrecked my skin, I need help with a gentle cleanser.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have oily, hormonal acne. I’ve been using black soap since I was 13 (I’m 22 now) but because it’s so drying I cant use it on my face every day. I started using cetaphil and my face was getting slightly worse, so I tried Cerave hydrating facial cleanser and it ruiiiined my skin. Horribly cystic acne all over my face, I went to the doctor and they put me on 0.025% tret. Only a week or so off of Cerave and my skin looks so much better but I need a new gentle cleanser. My routine is pretty silly, it feels like, would love some advice!AM: Black soap, TO Niacinamide , Cetaphil oil absorbing moisturizer (with 30 SPF)PM: Black soap, Cetaphil oil absorbing moisturizer (with 30 SPF), Tret (once a week for now, TO Niacinamide on other days)EDIT: formatting was wonky lol

[Routine Help] After three years of infertility, four miscarriages, deep depression, and one very complicated pregnancy (also being a teacher in the time of covid), my skin has never looked or felt worse. Please help?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am hopeful that you can help and would be so grateful for product and routine suggestions. My concerns are the redness around my nose, hyperpigmentation and sunspots everywhere and the tired, sallow looking skin around my eyes. Also, I have very sensitive skin.I would normally say I have combination skin, but I tried curology for the past 8 months and unfortunately, it didn't work for me. My skin is now itchy and dry. (Curology was 4% Niacinamide, .02% tretinoin and 5% Azelaic Acid). My routine is mostly just wash with Kiehl's ultra facial cleanser or the noble formula 2% pyrithione zinc bar. I do use elta MD uv clear spf 46 daily.I can't seem to find a good lotion for my face, I have Cetaphil moisturizing lotion and cerave renewing sa lotion, but both just glob on so heavy and never really soak in my skin. I feel it on my face all day.I would be grateful for any help you can suggest and don't mind spending some money for products.

[Skin concerns] Keloid steroid injection, is this normal?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi Reddit, this is my first post so I’m sorry if I have not posted in the correct subreddit or if I make any mistakes.I had a few keloid scars on my forearm from self-harming. They formed earlier this year and I instantly regretted doing it. If I could go back I would not have dealt with how I was feeling in this way. Anyway, I did some research and found something called a steroid injection which could reduce the appearance of the keloid scar. I found a clinic that was offering to inject them for a decent price so I booked an appointment. I had my first keloid injection on 05/06/20 and my next one on 03/07/20. The first time round the area around the keloids was bruised but it subsided. However, with the second injection while the bruising disappeared after a few weeks, the area around the scar is really red and looks sore. It’s been almost two months since my last steroid injection and in a way I feel like it looks worse now than it did before.I have messaged the clinic and they have told me that apparently the Doctor has said that the keloid can be active again because of the injection hence why it is red but I feel like that’s not true and this is an excuse as the keloids are now flat, it’s just the area around the scars which have turned red not the actual keloid scars themselves. I have cancelled my next appointment with the clinic because I’m scared they’ll want to inject it again and it will become even worse. Is this a normal side effect of steroid injections and will the redness go down? Or have I had some kind of reaction and is there nothing that can be done?I have attached a few images of the keloid scar but please note that it does look worse in real life than in the pictures. I would really appreciate any help/advice because I cannot speak to anyone in real life about this as I have told nobody about my self-harm.Thank you so much and I'm sorry if this is the wrong subreddit please let me know which subreddit would be best for this sort of questionhttps://preview.redd.it/6raxoro3pjj51.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=454e0dcef329255c2755eab58b3457eca99c83fehttps://preview.redd.it/9zkso1p3pjj51.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80d9bf1bb262e7abc6421ab13fa77b71d30e89ca

How I got my horrible KP under control with a rock and urea 20 cream. [Routine Help]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have had KP for 20 years and nothing ever touched it, it’s super hard to get rid of and keep it off your body. I have spent a gross amount of money on skincare products to get it sort of presentable.Last month I was obsessively trying to figure out some way to get it under control, this summer has been particularly awful for me with it, and after going down some rabbit holes I discovered two things- it’s common in Asia to exfoliate with a river stone and urea cream is a gift from the skin gods.I began looking online at skin exfoliating stones and was shocked at how expensive these rocks on a rope are. I wasn’t gonna pay 20 bucks for a dermastone. I took a few geology classes and after a bit of research (people who sell exfoliating stones will not tell you what type of stone it is), turns out the dermastone and others like it are sandstone. It just so happens that the common garden decorating stone is sandstone from a river, aka river stones, and I have about 10 tons of them outside around the perimeter of my house. So I went outside and with the help of an online guide to picking out the correct stone for exfoliating based on the opinions of someone from the Philippines, I found a good one. I bleached it and began scrubbing nightly with it (along with Purpose brand soap), and applied the urea 20 to my skin (something I gleaned from the sub).It has been three weeks and my skin is NOT the same. At all. No strawberry legs, no more ingrown hairs, not one new mark on my arms or back.A free rock and an 8 dollar tube of pee cream. If you’re having a lot of issues with KP and are at a loss what to do, try it!

[Routine Help] Does a very low percentage of BHA require you to wear sunscreen on cloudy days?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My toner has Salicylic acid as one of the last few ingredients, but doesn't say how much the percentage is on the bottle. It's a cheap brand and I doubt if it's potent because it hasn't had any drastic results (I've used it for at least 2 months). My question is if I should wear sunscreen because of the BHA even when it's not sunny outside? My location is the UK, if this helps.Edit: I don't use it every day so I'm not exfoliating too much.

[acne] my skin is finally clear for the first time in 13 years
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I started getting acne pretty early on, I was around 11-12.From then till now, I have tried it ALL. EVERYTHING. I became the go to skincare person with my friends and family. I knew all about acids, which mix with what, how to tell the difference between if my friends and family had dehydrated skin, or dry skin, a compromised moisture barrier. Which ingredients would suit them and what they do.I have changed a lot of people's skin with my knowledge, and to this day they are grateful and come to me and I keep improving their results. But the catch was my acne never got better, only progressively worse. My acne was moderate to severe at times, but it was always there. I can't imagine never having acne besides when I was a small child. I have spent probably close to tens of thousands of dollars on routines, ingredients, from high end to drugstore. I even went to my doctor and got prescribed Minocycline which didn't help much at all.All this knowledge I have, and it took me this long to realise my skin hates. Everything. My routine was accidentally discovered via being a tired full time student with two jobs and pondering to myself, what skincare did they have way back when? They probably had acne too but I convinced myself they didn't.My skin now is crystal clear, seriously. Not a blemish, when I run my fingers along it it's like a baby's bottom and I never, ever thought I would live to experience that in my adult life.My routine?Am: Splash with water Maybe jojoba oil (like once a fortnight if even? Sometimes not even then) Sunscreen if going outPm Splash with water or super basic oil cleanser if wearing makeup or sunscreen A tiny tiny amount of prescription tretinoin every 4-5 daysThat's itThat's literally it???????Yeah not using a moisturizer goes against EVERYTHING I have learnt about the moisture barrier and healthy skin but my skin is just so supple and smooth and there is just absolutely not a single need for me to apply it. I've been doing this for months at this stage.I'm not saying this will work for everyone, but I know what it's like struggling with acne and even healing everyone around you with all the knowledge you've been banking throughout the years and never seeing it work on yourself. But holy heck I feel FREE and confident for the first time in my life. I don't wear makeup anywhere anymore. Most of my scarring is disappearing, I don't have a single active pimple or clogged pore on my face???What I'm saying is, listen to your skin. Don't let people tell you you need certain products or ingredients if you really really feel you don't. Every single post emphasises that you NEEEEED a moisturizer, and yeah if your concern is that your skin is dry or dehydrated or tight then absolutely!!! I believed all my life you NEED at least a moisturiser or hydrating product for healthy skin and now, unless my skin asks or shows signs of needing it, I won't apply it.

[Skin concerns] Never done skincare before, listened to a friend's advice to clear up my acne and now my face feels like I rubbed it in sandpaper.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm a guy whose skincare routine up until this week has been rinsing with water and occasionally moisturizing after I shave. My skin isn't terrible but it isn't clear, so I asked a friend who always seems to have nice skin and she messaged me a list of products to use. Cleanser, peroxide gel, rettinol at night, moisturizer and rosehip oil.Been using it since Monday and at first my skin looked alright. Some of my spots started disappearing and my forehead wasn't as greasy during the day. It was a bit redder and felt sort of tight but she said that was the retinol doing its thing so I kept going. This morning I woke up and my face was itchy as fuck and covered in hundreds of tiny bumps, specifically my forehead and chin. My forehead feels really rough and bumpy.I've spent two hours scrolling through here and I'm realizing now this is probably not normal. My skin feels so bad. Have I wrecked it completely? I'm not going to keep using any of the products until I know what went wrong. Ahhh I feel like an idiot.

[Skin Concerns] Sunspots V/S Freckles?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey, so i have a bunch of light brown dots along the side of my face and a few on my cheeks. some are a lot bigger than others and they've only become more visible within the past year or so. im not sure whether they're sunspots or freckles but what's the difference between the two? im assuming both are caused by the sun.

[Acne] Niacinamide on spots?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys, I’ve been using Cerave cleanser SA smoothing cleanser for the past two months and have found my skin breaking out quite bad.I’ve recently got Paula’s choice Pore reducing toner with Niacinamide for oily combination. I only use it on my t-zone and the area of my cheeks near the t zone.I was wondering whether this product would help with a breakout of three spots i’ve had on my cheeks near my hairline?Any tips appreciated.

[Skin Concerns] Stretch Mark Microneedling Progress
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone!I’ll try to keep this short. Embarrassed to post this, but I hope it helps others in my situation. I rarely see stretch mark progress pictures. With that being said, I have lots of stretch marks and a belly button scar from a rejected piercing that are ~10 years old. Was feeling hopeless, because a dermatologist told me I’d need to get a plastic surgeon consult for a tummy tuck and that laser and microneedling wouldn’t produce any results for me. I didn’t want to go the surgery route unless I had exhausted less invasive options. This is a comparison picture taken before and after 2 microneedling sessions. There’s still a little hyperpigmentation/peeling because we’re shortening treatments to 3 weeks between (Moving soon and want to complete 4 treatments). I will update once I’ve completed all 4.Also, there is NOTHING wrong with having stretch marks. This is something that has personally bothered me, because some of us are just really hard on ourselves. But I want to be clear - Everyone has their own body acceptance journey that they’re on, and I’m not here to make anyone feel anything less than great about their bodies!Link:Stretch mark progress

[Product Question] Desperate to find a Dr Jart Ceramidin cream dupe
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Tl;dr: Dr Jart ceramidin cream formula in the metal tubes is a hg. Reformulated(?) product in the plastic tubes irritates my skin. Are there any og cream dupes? So I started using Dr Jart ceramidin cream last year, and I've been purchasing it from different apps since then. Depop, Mercari, etc. Can't afford the full price.Anyway! I was pretty regularly purchasing the ones with the metal tubing, and it became a hg for me. Pores shrunk. Oil production decreased. Acne cleared. Life beautiful. More recently I've been receiving the newer plastic tubes and didn't think anything of it. My skin has been horrible lately, even with my same routine and curology topical. Oily, huge pores, angry acne. I just recently found an old metal tube and slapped it on at night. The next morning every spot I went to bed with, disappeared, and my face felt moisturized, instead of being a greasy mess. I thought not much of it until I put the product in the plastic tube on my face during the day. Pimples. Pimples everywhere by the end if the day. I used metal tube again last night, and everything cleared up again.New formula is definitely pissing my skin off and I have no other moisturizer. Are there og ceramidin cream dupes? I saw that the new formula is "cleaner" and "more natural" now, and apparently has better ingredients. What gives?Edit: I've tried Cerave, Vanicream, Youth to the people, Belif tcmb, yes to tomatoes (used to be my favorite, suddenly started breaking me out), and tons more, and everything pisses my skin off. Does my skin just hate the "clean" products?

[personal] stressing about uv protection at age 14...?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I need some help to stop stressing about sun protection...I’m still a teen, 14, but I’ve become stressed about wanting to stay looking young. I don’t even think it’s about wanting to look good, I think I’m scared of growing up when I feel like I haven’t been a kid yet.I’m seeing all this stuff about uv films, upf clothing, reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours, and it’s stressful cause I can’t even buy this stuff and I’m scared what will happen without it. I see people who are thanking their younger selves for protecting their skin and they look so young for their age.

[Skin Concerns] Differin 2 month purge w pictures
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Combination skin. Hyperpigmentation. Been on Differin 0.1% consistently for about 6-7 weeks. Started applying every 3 days, now I do every two days depending on how my skin feels. The purge is real my friends. I’ve been purging specifically on the right side of my jawline/chin (the only place I ever break out normally). It comes and goes in waves. Similar spots, mostly new whiteheads frequently emerge near the older ones. A couple painful under the skin ones but those tend to go away quickly. The rest of my skin is pretty much blemish free, my skin is glowing besides the purge and noticed a big difference in texture so far. I didn’t have bad acne before so my self esteem has taken a hit but I have to remind myself it’s temporary. Guess I’m making this post to motivate someone the same way I’ve been motivated by the journey of others. I noticed mild purging at about 3 weeks.———————————————————— AMCerave Hydrating Facial CleanserKlairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop (after this bottle is finished I’m switching to Paula’s Choice C15 Booster) and Hadalabo hyaluronic acid serum to damp face after cleansingCerave AM Facial LotionPurito Centella Unscented SPF50Benton Fermentation Eye cream ———————————————————— PMdouble cleanse with Heimish All Clean Balm Cerave Hydrating Facial CleanserDifferin 0.1% on dry skin, I let it sit for 20 minutes(For nights that I don’t use Differin I apply TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% to damp skin and follow with my moisturizers)Dr Jart Ceramidin CreamCerave Skin Renewing Night creamBenton Fermentation Eye Cream ————————————————————I use Hydrocolloid patches frequently. [skin concerns] What is your Skin care for non-facial skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have marks from ingrown hairs, mosquito bites, etc on my legs and bikini area. I get ingrown hairs in my armpits. I’ve been using an exfoliating toner on my skin and wondered if other people have advice, or what their non-facial skin care might look like?Thought it would be interesting to ask :)

[PSA] Android users (and possibly others) can't view wiki pages
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys! There's been a bug affecting android users that makes wiki pages inaccessible. Clicking wiki links hits you with an infuriating “This page was not found. The page is either disabled or doesn’t exist".This is a reddit-wide bug so it's not something that we can fix, but the Admins are aware of the issue and it will presumably be sorted out soon.Unfortunately I have no workarounds to offer, other than using desktop or stealing someone's iphone. Edit: and you can try using your mobile browser! So if you see someone wondering why the heck all the links are broken, please point them to this post :)(I'll be stickying this post after the Hyperpigmentation HG Thread has had some more time to get replies, assuming the problem isn't fixed before then!)

Recommendations for moisturiser for sensitive skin ? [product question]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello fellow skincare enthusiasts! I’ve been looking for a moisturiser similar to Cliniques moisture surge one. I absolutely love that one but mine is almost empty now and it’s so expensive so I’m not too keen on buying another one.I’m wondering if you might have a suggestion for a moisturiser similar to the CMS or someone you might think is even better ? I have dry skin that is prone to acne. It’s sensitive to a lot of fragrance but a tiny bit is fine. I’ve been wanting to try klairs midnight blue calming cream but it’s quite expensive and hard to get. Would appreciate any and all recommendations! Please also add a few sentences on why you like X moisturiser as well :)Thanks ♡︎

[Skin Concerns] How to treat PIE (not PIH)?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
There’s plenty of resources for PIH, most of the trending ingredients like niancinamide, many kinds of acids, vitamin C, however I can’t find a solution to treating my PIE (before I’ll be able to afford laser). Did anyone have any success with topical treatments? Tretinoin, silicone scar sheets? Maybe something less obvious like massages?

[Sun Care] Sunscreen recommendations for acne-prone combo skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone! So I’ve struggled with acne ever since I was 11 or 12 (currently 17F), and usually I get super oily during the summer and super dry during the winter. Since quarantine I’ve simplified my routine and my skin looks the best it’s been in years. Still not perfect, but pretty good by my standards. One of the things that gets preached in this sub is the importance of wearing sunscreen daily. So, I decided to hop on that train. For about a week I’ve been using Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost City Shield sunscreen (SPF 25) in the morning. I’ve noticed my skin feels much drier than before. It’s not peeling, but the texture is definitely not as smooth. I’ve also got tons of small, skin-colored bumps on my forehead and the sides of my cheeks. Usually these areas are smooth aside from pimples.Does anyone have any recommendations on sunscreens I could use that are effective, moisturizing, and non-comedogenic? I’m also willing to update with my routine if anyone wants it for clarification. Thanks!

[misc] How bad is St ives apricot scrub? What are good alternatives?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ive been indifferent with my exfoliators and decided to change just now! I've been hearing a LOT of negative reviews on the internet about the apricot scrub so I considering switching to the pink radiant one. I tried it before but sticked to the apricot because its just too gentle for me lol. Can someone educate me why harsh scrubs are bad? I honestly like the relaxing feeling of it 😆I'm going to miss that harsh feelingg of the scrub rubbing against my skin because thats where i feel like im getting that deep total exfoliation ! I am so used to it 🤣 I only do it once a week and very gentle! so no worries .

[Misc] Unexpected (positive) effect of using snail mucin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Unexpected (positive) effect of using snail mucinI recently decided to add snail mucin to my skincare routine. So far I haven't seen changes to my face - good or bad - but an unexpected positive effect is that it seems to have really helped with the eczema on my hands!Just as a background, I have really bad Dyshidrosis - a type of dermatitis where you get blisters on your hands and feet.I've been struggling with it on my hands for months now, and it doesn't help that I seem to be allergic to soap (literally any kind of soap) and E45. My doctor gave me steroidal ointment, a soap replacement (Dermol 500 - which I found works great as a facial wash too), and lotion.I'd say they helped make the blisters manageable but they were still there and overall my skin was still quite tender.I started using the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence a few days ago, and while I don't see any noticeable changes to my face, the eczema on my hands has calmed down a lot! I use one pump on my face and because I apply it with my hands they've been getting some as well, which is how I accidentally discovered this.Overall I'm really happy because my hands have been sore for months and it finally feels like there's a light at the end of the tunnel :) just thought I'd share.(Sorry had to repost: forgot to add a tag)

[Skin Concerns] I have realized that my face isn't aging gracefully. Please give me some practical tips.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
(27-M)I should have prioritized a skincare routine in my teen years. Now, I understand that.Looking at my face, I fear what I will look like in my 40s.I don't look terrible, but my skin has some liver spots near my nose and under my eyes. My skin looks a bit rougher than it probably should for someone my age.Yesterday I realized the importance of sunscreen. Being a black person, I never had to really worry about being sunburned. but I didnt realize how my skin could be aging because of it.I own up to every bit of that shit. It was silly thinking. What are things I can do to heal the wrinkles and take care of my skin beyond sunscreen? Please treat me with gentleness. I have made a lot of mistakes in the past, and I just want solutions. It's hard not to be discouraged when every skincare article talks about how I should have been doing this stuff since I was a teenager.

[personal] does anybody else find skin care extremely depressing?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Honestly I find this stuff depressing as fuck. I’m serious. It’s just going down rabbit holes of creams from people who swear it worked for them and never does, wasting tons of money. Nothing works, trying different moisturizers. Going to dermatologist who are deadbeats who never do anything of answer anything or help you. Staying up all night literally researching shit 18 hours plus a day and literally going to sleep only to wake up and do it all again. Basically getting a google doctor degree looking up shit all the time. Learning almost nothing works and is a scam. Dermatologist trying to force cosmetic procedures on you steering your questions when you don’t actually need it. More research. Trying new moisturizers with minimal to no results. I just don’t know or understand. Skin care is so depressing I hate this bullshit. Literally fuckingn hiding from the public and staying indoors at all times so nobody will see you. Even if “yes it’s not that bad!” But if it is to you, then it is that bad. I honestly don’t see how anyone could like this shit. It just seems so damn depressing.

[Personal] Does anybody ACTUALLY reapply their sunscreen during the day?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Looking for honesty here guys - does anybody here actually reapply their sunscreen the recommended number of times during the day (on average, every two hours)?* I know we're supposed to, but applying sunscreen on top of makeup is just unrealistic and messy. I've tried the sunscreen powders, but they always leave a gross white cast on my skin (which is dark). I've considered sunscreen setting sprays, but most of the reviews say they're sticky. I need to know I'm not alone in being lax with my sunscreen application.*obviously I reapply it when I'm going to the beach of something. I'm more referring to regular, day-to-day sunscreen us.

[Personal] Yesterday I had my first ever dermatology consultation, and boy how I was disappointed...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My goals/expectations were:- general consultation for prevention reasons (check skin, moles, scalp)- talk about my type of skin and what should I use to improve its health- receive advice/recommendations about anti-aging treatments, what should I do to slow it down- I really wanted to find out about facial laser for my sun spots or other treatments regarding this. What I actually received:- an arrogant girl, in her early 30s (same as me), really proud of having 10 years of experience as a dermatologist, not in the mood to do much for me.I did my homework and entered her cabinet with a bunch of prepared questions. All she did for me was to send me to the pharmacy to buy me some retinol and vitamin C. THAT'S IT!Oh, and let me know that people who go there come with serious problems. What?! I mean, If I don't have obvious skin cancer, or bumps/pimples/sore (whatever their name is...) I shouldn't come to a dermatologist? So prevention sucks and it's not something worth a dermatologist time... OK.She also let me know that the money I paid was for a 15 min consultation, not a 30 min one (I kept asking her questions). Btw, nowhere is specified a 15 min consultation vs a 30 min one, with different prices. And I'm going to this health network (it has many clinics) for a few years now.I told her I want to get rid of 2 of my moles and after she looked at them, she told me that for what I came for, I should have gone to a cosmetic clinic, not to dermatology. Um, what? I don't want to go to a cosmetic clinic, where they have the interest to sell me expensive packages with their fancy equipment. I want professional, medical advice regarding my skin and moles. She also told me that the facial laser is expensive and not worth it. When I asked her to elaborate she gave me 3 contradictory reasons:- it could not work, doing anything for me- it could work, but until next summer- it actually could worsen the color of my spot (make them darker)She instead told me about a brand I never heard before, something like The Ordinary but high class, waaaay more expensive. And that's it.That's in Bucharest, Romania. The other consults I had were fine, and I had a bunch of them, plus lots of blood/urine/etc. tests. No problems, just a checking annual routine. So it's not about this network of clinics I'm using, just about this specific dermatologist. It sucks because I wanted for so long to experience a dermatology consultation. I had high hopes. Now, I'm asI used The Ordinary until 2 months ago when I finished the products. But even though I like the price and the way they present their products, I must confess they didn't do much for me (actually, I saw no improvement in 6 months of usage). And I had a great routine, but I think my skin needs something stronger. So here I am, ranting, frustrated... Now I have to start all over again with my personal online research and to find other products, and try them... It will be exhausting. Same problem for my curly hair... Already tried 2 brands for curly hair, bad experiences.I have a combination skin type. For the moment I'm only using my Cerave hydrating creme and Spf 50 from Avene. That it. :(If you have the same type of skin, please share your morning/night routine. I would love to take them into consideration. Or any other recommendations will be more than welcome!

[PSA] I shared my SCA before/after FIVE YEARS AGO. Fiance called and asked, "have you ever gone by the name Julia?" Apparently he saw this pop-up ad with my face on it. If you've posted, it may be worth a reverse image search to see if you've wound up as a testimonial to some sub-par product..

[Personal] Three years of skincare, summarized!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm coming up on three years of maintaining a skincare routine, and boy howdy has it been a roller coaster. I was once a naive young woman who thought that Saint Ives apricot scrub was a good product. What a sweet summer child I was.I felt, that, it be nice to share what I've learned in these three years with all of you, if to help anyone else avoid my mistakes. To start:Less is more, but more is not always less.Personally, I've shaved my skincare my routine down to four simple steps:CleanserTonerSerumMoisturizerI've found that keeping my routine as simple as possible has helped me keep up with it (and afford it), but I've also noticed that other people could achieve similar or better results with more product than I am personally using. Using fewer products can help your skin, but it isn't bad to have an extensive routine. What works, works.F*ck cotton rounds for toner.Wash your hands and apply that stuff with your hands. You'll save money and product. If you absolutely need them, get reusable ones.Wash your sheets. No, seriously.A lot of people on this sub attest to improved skin condition when they wash their sheets more often. It works, in my experience. I now have two sheet sets that I rotate between during the week, and my backne and facial acne has really improved since doing that.Alcohol is not your friend. Generally.I find that any product that has alcohol in it dries my skin out and messes with my moisture barrier. Fatty alcohols are great! Love them! Just stay away from the non-fatty ones.Find your skin type! Are you sensitive? Oily? A combination of dry and oily? Acne prone? Finding out exactly what your skin type is helps your chances of improving it. It took me a while to figure out I had combination acne-prone skin, but since finding that out I've been able to pinpoint products that help my skin type instead of hurting it. For example, I can't have fragrance in my products as my skin is sensitive, but I can use oils on my face to help with dryness. My acne is hormonal and microbial, so using birth control and disinfecting acne products (tea tree oil, benzoyl peroxide) helps a lot.Your clothes could be the problem.Booooooy howdy, I had to change what kind of clothes I wear because of skin problems. I noticed that fabric that doesn't breathe (spandex, stretchy stuff, ya know) made my acne worse. Cottons and polyesters that let my skin breathe keep me from breaking out as much.Progress is a tango that never ends.I will likely be working on my skin care routine for the rest of my life. Eventually my skin will change. I'll get older, develop fine lines. I'll make a step forward and then two back. But that is okay. Progress is not always linear in skin care, but it will happen. Embrace the tango, my friends. Don't be afraid to research new things, and try different methods to get results. In the words of the Great Miss Frizzle, "Take chances! Make mistakes! Get messy!"That's all I have for now. I hope this testament will be helpful for someone on here.
