Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys, I don't know but recently I've felt peeved by a lot of YouTube skincare "experts" like hyram and such so I feel like I've become almost unjustly hyper critical of these influencers. One that kindve rubs me the wrong way is Cassandra. In particular I noticed how in her videos from the last 6 months to a year she has started prefacing videos calling herself a medical estheticIan with 10 years in the industry working alongside with dermatologists and etc. This seems HIGHLY suspect after I started to dig deep into her channel. Before this year she did not mention ever being an estheticIan (that I could find), several videos from 2-3 years ago mention some sort of school, so my sneaking suspicion is that she went to esthetics school probably last year as a bump to her youtube channel. Is there anyway we can check her license somehow? I know for doctors you can just look them up and see theyre certified with the state to practice medicine. Dunno if it's the same with estheticIans too.My problem is that she makes it seem to the audience disingenuinely that she's been a practicing estheticIan for 10 years. No. From what I can gather is that she's done modeling (in and around the skincare industry SORT OF) and YouTube as her career so far. This sucks if true, bc it's not the school that truly makes an estheticIan a professional or trusted, it's the experience they gain from actually WORKING on tons of different people's skin every day. 4-8 months of school is not what I'd call an expert. An estheticIan w no experience shouldn't really be presenting themselves as some sort of expert. And before this year she seemed to primarily focus on lifestyle, diet, misc.,makeup, and her journey with extreme acne. I dunno guys, is there anything out there where she talks about estheticIan school, being an estheticIan, giving peels/facials to people. Bc you would THINK she would talk about any of the things that estheticIans usually do on her channel but I can't find virtually anything on performing treatments on people. All I could find is her going to a dermatology conference one year and interviewing people and another video where she interviews an estheticIan 2-3 years ago about whether you should see a dermatologist or esthetician. But in that video Cassandra very obviously is NOT an estheticIan, asks a lot of questions she should already know as an estheticIan and frames the whole interview as if she's just a patient dealing with acne who has trouble going to derms. And then there is a video from 8 years ago where she refers to estheticIans as "beauticians" which no one who actually worked as an estheticIan would ever say. Which leads me to believe that her estheticIan title is either a complete lie, she went to school just recently for added "legitimacy" to her channel, or she really has been an estheticIan for many many years but for some reason anything past a year ago has ZERO substantiation fo that fact. Her Wikipedia page has no mention of her being an estheticIan, she is famous for being a model for pretty much the first decade of her adult life then being a youtuber. Where does practicing estheticIan fit into that? This all came up for me recently, as I just made the decision to goto esthetics school soon to get a estheticIan license and laser certification. Hopefully will become a registered nurse in a few years and be able to perform botox and filler injections to further my career. So I went to check out probably the MOST POPULAR "ESTHETICIAN" on YouTube for advice about school, the career path, what it's like, and she has virtually nothing on it. Not even virtually, literally nothing besides blurbs at the beginning of videos now.Done. Sorry for the rant. Getting a bit too worked up over skincare influencers, GEEZ. I dunno, from Dr. Vanita Rattan not being an actual dermatologist, to all the drama with hyram, to non skincare influencers like Dr. Berg being a doctor of chiropracty, but talks all about diet as if he's a full doctor, I am just fed up.
