Beauty Tips For Body Care
NOTE: I'm talking about the one with the green and yellow packaging, NOT the one with the white label on the front.WHY I BOUGHT ITThis is my first time trying an oil cleanser - I was reluctant to try one for a while because I don't wear makeup, so I thought it would just be a waste. However, I was really interested in the potential to unclog pores, which is what really attracted me to this. This oil cleanser is a cult favourite and it seems to be loved by so many people, as well as being fragrance-free and affordable.MY SKIN TYPE/CONCERNSI have pretty dry skin most of the time, which was dehydrated but since finding Curel Intensive Moisture Cream acts pretty normal most of the time, although I do have to be speedy about putting skincare on once I cleanse my face. I'm prone to clogged pores on my chin and nose as well as inflammatory acne on my chin, but this has all been massively improved by Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid. Fragrance and essential oils cause acne for me.HOW/WHERE I BOUGHT ITPurchased on Stylevana, you can see my full haul here for ~£12 for 200ml.HOW LONG I'VE BEEN USING IT FORI've been using this oil cleanser for 3 weeks exactly, once a day in the evening as a first cleanse.INGREDIENTS LISTEthylhexyl palmitate, triethylhexanoin, sorbes tetraisostearate-30, PEG-20 glyceryl triisostearate, olive fruit oil, water, sodium acetyl hyaluronate, hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate, jojoba seed oil*, (palmitic acid / ethyl hexanoic acid), dextrin, butyl carbamate propionyl iodide, BHT*As you can see, it's a pretty basic ingredients list. Fragrance, essential oil and alcohol free, which is great if you're sensitive to any of those. The main oil here is olive fruit oil - not really much to say, it's quite nice and basic. There's also jojoba seed oil and two types of hyaluronic acid for some extra hydration, although this is a cleanser so there most likely won't be many hydrating benefits.SCENTNone at all, as you would expect. Does not smell like focaccia or pasta, unlike some other olive-oil based cleansers (according to what people say).TEXTURE + EMULSIFICATIONThis has a very light, fluid texture. The colour is a pale yellow, as you would expect. It spreads really easily over your face and I only need one pump, meaning that it will most likely last me ages. This cleanser emulsifies super super quickly, so whenever I wash my hands before cleansing I have to make sure they are fully dry, as any moisture on them starts to emulsify the cleanser. As it emulsifies so well, it rinses off super quickly.EFFECTS + CLEANSING POWERI don't wear makeup, nor do I have a Sunscreenr :( so I can't prove how well it removes thick sunscreen or heavy makeup. I have tried it with 3 layers of P20 Kids SPF50+ which it removed really well though. After cleansing my skin feels really soft, plump and hydrated, so I think it's pretty gentle. Due to the fluidity, you also don't have to tug or rub to remove it, which is great.I don't think it's massively improved my clogged pores but it's pretty hard to tell. I haven't broken out at all this month which is pretty amazing, so maybe it has done it's job. Equally, it could be that the BHA has finally fully cleared up my skin after 2-3 months.PACKAGINGThe packaging isn't cute or fun, but it is really functional. The pump is great - it dispenses the perfect amount of cleanser and it's very easy to use in the shower. The bottle is plastic so it's very shower-friendly and they also sell refills so you can save money and re-use your pump bottle.OVERALL THOUGHTSI love how it makes my skin feel so soft after cleansing, and it really does cut through layers of sunscreen. Coupled with the easy application, great price and quick emulsification it's a winner in my eyes! It may not be the most exciting cleanser, nor does it have the most fun, cute packaging, but it does what it was supposed to really well - I couldn't ask for more at the price point.9/10 - I recommend this product if you want an affordable, fragrance-free and very effective oil cleanser that emulsifies quickly. Definitely WRP, although I might branch out and try a cleansing balm. Does anyone have any fragrance-free suggestions?
