[PRODUCT QUESTION]: Does anyone know what is transpiring chemically/physically when you put kaolin clay on your skin?

I know that kaolin clay is marketed as "drawing out impurities" but what is actually happening, is there some part of it that is binding to something in the sebum and drying it out -- just curious. Can any science-oriented people shed some light please?
