Beauty Tips For Body Care
Before I begin I must apologise for not having photos, at the start of trying them I wasn't even thinking about reviewing! After using Frownies for around 8 months continuously, in order to treat a targeted problem, I think I have sufficient experience with them to weigh in on their use and effectiveness and write a review for others.TLDR/Short Review: I used Frownies between my eyebrows and at my top forehead to specifically address wrinkles caused by face scrunching in my sleep. After 8 months of continuous use I found them to be an effective and affordable alternative to botox, but they do require continuous use and would only work if your wrinkles are from face movement and not age.Extended Review:My skin problem/goal: I used these for a targeted problem. I'm a face scruncher at night, and was getting pronounced lines in 3 key areas, 1) 11s (ie. just at inner corners of eyebrows, 2) in the middle between the eyebrows, and 3) one horizontal line at the top of the forehead near the hairline. There's nothing retinol and moisturizer can do to fight that degree of scrunching, so it was either botox or these to prevent the problem (freeze the muscles). The oldest wrinkles are the top forehead and middle eyebrow. 11s ) are just starting to form.Exact product tested: Frownies Facial Patches For Forehead and Between Eyes. ~$35 CAD, available at numerous retailers. Comes with 144 patches so its basically a 5 month supply, which is why I chose it over botox (student budget). My use: used almost every night since I began using them. Used one just between eyes, and cut another into a long strip to place at the top of the forehead near the hairline, where I was getting the other wrinkle. Only took breaks for a few camping trips. I used them only when asleep, so applied right before bed and took them off first thing in the morning. Applied and removed with normal tap water. I applied all skin care products underneath it and it still stuck fine - only face oils would impair the adhesive.Other products used during trial: No new skin care products introduced during 8 month period. My routine is simple - wash with water in morning, & with combo of Lush Ultrabland and AquaMarina at night, rosewater as toner, aloe vera, and a heavy natural moisturizer at night. SPF 30 also used every day year round. No retinols or serums used so that wouldn't impact my assessment of Frownies.8 Month result: 11s have disappeared, and line just in the middle between eyebrows (which was the older/longer developed and more deep line) is significantly reduced but not eliminated. If you look close you can still see it, but not from a normal conversation distance. If I scrunch my face in the mirror it does linger for a few seconds, but the 11s don't anymore. Top forehead line pretty much gone, however like middle brow if I scrunch my face it lingers a bit. If I stop using them for a period of time (like when I camped) the middle brow and top forehead lines do return, however not as bad as before starting Frownies. The newer 11s do not return if I stop using Frownies for a few days.Final Assessment: These are a targeted solution to a specific problem. I see them being very useful if you suffer from face scrunching at night, or are a side sleeper and your face gets mushed. I don't see how they would be effective at reducing wrinkles if thats not the source of your problem (aka your wrinkles are age/gravity based). They were very effective at halting further development of old, deep set wrinkles, and reversed newer fine lines. They required continuous use, and after a break you'll find the older, deep wrinkles return again, however it's definitely not "back to square one", they're still reduced. I see these as being a great, natural stand in for botox. While botox is probably safe and is certainly effective, not everyone is comfortable with injections, not everyone has the budget, and people with dismorphia may be concerned about botox being a "gateway drug" to never ending filler/injections/surgery. These are an excellent, natural, reversible, non-invasive, and cheap ($35 CAD for a 5 month supply) solution that act in a nearly identical way to botox - basically preventing wrinkles by "freezing" certain muscles, as long as use is continuous. I did not find applying them any more burdensome that applying any serum, and I did not find them uncomfortable to wear.Do I recommend?: Yes
