[PERSONAL] My skincare issue turned out be not related to ingredients or the products but something else entirely

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Background - I've been having really super sensitive and burning skin around my lower eye area and in general around the orbital bone. Sometimes it would extend downward to my cheekbone area. Didn't matter what products I used, even plain basic Avene or Embryolisse or even Cica products, it was red, sensitive and burned. At first I thought it was tied to overuse of Retinols or even BHA/AHAs. I cut back on them completely and still had the issue. I thought maybe it was my eczema, so I lathered on occlusives at night and really went to work trying to tackle that as a potential issue. Then I received a product in a beauty box (DHC face wash powder) and I realized that when I used the powder, I could easily wash my face with my hands and running water. I really liked the powder and kept using it for a week. The burning went away as did the sensitivity. I thought it was the product, but again I was wrong.I found my culprit - a microfiber face cloth. Like this one, but there are many brands/types: https://www.sephora.com/product/the-original-makeup-eraser-makeup-remover-cloth-P396033 You know, those kinds used to take off makeup and claim to be soft and sensitive to the skin. After using the microfiber face cloth - the same area around my eyes and cheeks were sensitive, raw, and burning again. I wash the cloths constantly, so I know it's not bacteria, and I rotate them out. I was basically super exfoliating my face while using these. While great for taking off eye makeup in conjunction with cleansers, I liked that I didn't have to bend over the sink to wash my face completely.Going back to bending over the sink to wash off my cleansers remedied the problem. I went back to using an eye makeup remover and soft cotton rounds to help with the eye area when I wear makeup. I found holding a soaked cotton round (with micellar water or eye makeup remover) over a closed eye really helps loosen up the makeup. Also going back to old faithful cold cream has helped too.
