Long time lurker first time poster: 411 on my skin: dry/mature (aged 49)/not allergic, reactive, or acne prone. I'm on Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3, and I only acid I use is BHA in the AM. I have a seriously hydrating mostly AB routine, and I am a side/stomach sleeper + I wear an eye mask to sleep. For what I have tried see below!Shea butter - a product I love but honestly wasn't occlusive enough/sank in too fast. If I doubled up it just wound up on the pillow. Too liquid for me once it melts.Pyungkang Yul Moisture Ampoule & Balancing Gel - putting these together on the list b/c almost identical results. A nice product but not occlusive enough/didn't do the job on its own. Silicone based but I still woke up with dry patches. If you decide to try these I'd recommend you try a smaller quantity first. MAJOR YMMV factor here.Bepanthen Nappy Care - lanolin based diaper cream from Germany. This stuff is great. Definitely works better for me than most of what I've tried. Occlusive, but sinks in enough to not just wind up on pillow. I use a thin layer, wait a bit, and go to sleep. Could have stopped here, but I wanted to keep trying other stuff.Aquaphor - really does the job, but for me it's too wet. It just doesn't dry down enough to not wind up mostly on the pillow, which is of course, also why it's so great! Totally occlusive enough, but even with a t-shirt covering my pillow it was too greasy b/c stomach/side sleeping. I DO use this for my cracked heels w/socks, and man do I love the results.German Nivea - I just tried this last night and HOLY MOLY this was so much better than I thought it would be. It melts and sinks in some, but to my GREAT surprise, when I woke up in the morning it was still on my face/doing the job VERY nicely. I imagine some is on that t-shirt covering the pillow case, but since so much was still on my face, I assume it's doing the job. I loved the nostalgic enjoyment of the smell and the blue tin. FYI German Nivea does have paraffinum liquidum which is a mineral oil, so you decide how you feel about this. US version has mineral oil. I couldn't find much on the diff b/w these 2 ingredients.Addendum: I often wait a couple hours for whatever slug product I am using to dry down/sink in a bit and THEN top with one of the PKY products mentioned above, and it does seem to help the sticky on the pillow factor. Also, I have tried heavy moisturizers (LRP Cica Baume/Cosrx Rice mask), but they just don't do enough for me on their own. I need major TEWL help.Hope this helps! Long live the slug!
