Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve been struggling with cystic acne for more than a year. Due to my busy schedule, I can’t see a dermatologist in-person. So I tried different online dermatology services because it’s convenient and I don’t have to wait for referrals to see a dermatologist. If you don’t have time to see a dermatologist in person, you might wanna consider these services.Curology: I heard some good reviews from people and decided to give it a try. My provider from Curology initially prescribed me with a custom formula (0.01% tretinoin + 4% alezaic acid + niacinamide). I used it consistently for 6 weeks and didn’t see any improvement. I asked for an increase in tret % and they changed it to 0.018% tret. Still no improvement after another 6 weeks. I canceled my subscription. The formula itself didn’t help, and the service was ok. They typically response within 48 hrs. Shipping took a long time though.Apostrophe: More expensive than Curology but better service, IMO. My provider prescribed me with topical clindamycin + benzoyl peroxide and doxycycline. I didn’t use their topical treatment, but I took doxycycline for 2 months while using my own benzoyl peroxide cleanser and clindamycin gel. Some improvements in inflammation but I still got new acne weekly. I got my medication within 1 week. They charge $20 for every visit, but you get $20 credit to use when you order your medication.GoodRX: This is a bit different than the other 2 platforms. After communicating with my provider via messages, she prescribed me 0.025% tretinoin cream. I picked it up at a local pharmacy (which is faster than shipping). I used it for about 4 months. I saw significant improvement in skin texture after 6 weeks. However, I still get 2 or 3 new cystic acne every month. I really enjoy tretinoin because it helps my skin look better overall, but it doesn’t keep my skin clear.SkyMD: Very similar to an in-office visit. I had a video call with my provider to go over some options. She recommended accutane since I’ve tried all the other options and also because I get scars very easily. I had to fill out paperworks and she ordered some labwork for me (can be done at any LabCorp). Then follow up visit every month to check in with her. Medication can be picked up at local pharmacy. If you struggle with more severe acne and want to try online derm, I highly recommend SkyMD because you get to talk to your provider via video call to discuss in details about your goals and treatment options.
