[Review] [Sun Care] Supergoop! Bestsellers & Multitaskers Mini Sets

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I bought the Supergoop Multitaskers & Bestsellers mini sets so I could try some different formulas before committing to a full-sized sunscreen. The formulas in the Multitaskers set are:Mineral Sheerscreen SPF 30Mattescreen SPF 40Glowscreen SPF 40Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40The formulas in the Bestsellers set are:Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40Superscreen Daily Moisturizer SPF 40PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50Glowscreen SPF 40Shipping for mini sets was free and my order came with a bonus mini Mattescreen, so I ended up with two each of the Unseen Sunscreen, Mattescreen, and Glowscreen. The cost plus shipping for a total of 90ml/3 oz of sunscreen was $40 plus tax.For reference, I have sensitive, dry-to-normal, congestion-prone skin and a medium-light complexion with warm undertones that tans easily.MINERAL SHEERSCREEN SPF 30This is a formula with a high percentage of zinc oxide that claims to be sheer. It had the slightest white cast on my skin tone and would probably be a nonstarter for people with medium-to-deep skin tones. Like other sheer zinc sunscreens I've tried (Maelove, Burnout Kids), it was shiny and sticky to the touch even after drying down and I could feel it caked on my skin the whole day. Despite not being labeled water resistant, it was difficult to remove completely. I'm very sensitive to smells and there was no discernible scent. Unfortunately, the texture was a deal breaker for me.TL;DR: slight white cast on medium-light complexion, sticky even after a full day of wear, hard to removeMATTESCREEN SPF 40This is a tinted, mattefying mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. The tint is a good match for my skin tone, but I could see how it could be too dark or light for other complexions. It comes out of the tube in what looks like a lightweight mousse. After finding the "hydrating finish" of Zincscreen too greasy, I really enjoyed how this felt and looked after blending in and drying down. It didn't dry out my skin when used on top of moisturizer, though it did settle slightly into nose creases and dry spots. I am very sensitive to smells and had no problem wearing this under a face mask. It is water and sweat resistant, but seemed to come off more easily than the Sheerscreen.TL;DR: tinted, non-drying, lightweight, and mattefying mineral formulaGLOWSCREEN SPF 40Tinted, shimmery formula with avobenzone, octisalate, and octocrylene. I get closed comedones in reaction to niacinamide, so I wasn't able to use this on my face, but from swatching it on my hand, I can say it is VERY glowy/shimmery. Since I ruled this one out due to ingredients, I unfortunately don't have much more to say about it.TL;DR: extremely shimmery, contains niacinamide, for better or worseUNSEEN SUNSCREEN SPF 40Translucent, lightweight formula with avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene. This is a clear gel and has a velvety finish that makes you wonder if you even put sunscreen on. The formula is very dimethicone-heavy, which informs the texture. The smell out of the tube is almost offensively chemical-y to me and I think it dissipates eventually, but I haven't tried wearing it under a mask because it would probably give me a headache. Unfortunately, this is the one formula that made my eyes sting. From a cosmetic and wear standpoint, I understand why this is one of the most popular US sunscreen formulas out there.TL;DR: a transluscent formula with a natural-looking finish but a very unnatural smell out of the tube and made my eyes sting after a whileSUPERSCREEN DAILY MOISTURIZER SPF 40Moisturizer with avobenzone, homosalate, and octisalate. (This was the only chemical formula in the mini sets without octocrylene.) This formula feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen and goes on really easily. It has a slight sheen after drying down and sits on the skin like a heavy moisturizer, but doesn't have that heavy sunscreen feeling. The main drawbacks for me are the strong scent, which reminds me of Ponds cold cream, and the packaging, which is a tub rather than a tube. I have enjoyed using this on my hands and think for someone with drier skin and less sensitivity to smells, this could be great on the face and neck.TL;DR: dewy, smells like cold cream, looks and feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen.PLAY EVERYDAY LOTION SPF 50This is a no-frills sunscreen with avobenzone, octisalate, and octocrylene. I found that it needed to be worked in a bit more than the other chemical formulas, takes a while to dry down, and is slightly shiny and sticky. It has a citrus-y smell that leans a bit more pine-sol than botanical. Seems like a good all-purpose/sport sunscreen that could also work on your face. This is the original Supergoop sunscreen, so it makes sense that it isn't as refined as their other chemical formulas.TL;DR: Long dry down time, slightly shiny and sticky, mildly chemical-y citrus scent, takes a bit of work to rub in.Overall, I would say these are all good sunscreens; depending on your needs, your skin type, sensitivities, and complexion, some will work better than others. I had negative experiences with chemical sunscreens in the past and was only using mineral formulas until getting these mini sets; pleased to report that only Unseen Sunscreen made my eyes sting and none of them dried out my skin.I've enjoyed trying these and it's been fun to have little tubes I can easily take with me for reapplication throughout the day. I'm going to keep all but the Mineral Sheerscreen and Glowscreen in rotation until they run out and figure out which formula is going to become part of my daily routine.
