[Acne] Has anyone healed their moisture barrier/dehydration and seen a reduction in acne?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
TLDR: Acne occuring worse than it ever has only on my right cheek and forehead, the areas where I've used actives to try to combat acne. Never used to drink water, used glycolic acid daily and more recently benzoyl peroxide. Now trying to re-hydrate and heal barrier to hopefully stop breakouts. After some reflection and research through reddit, I think I may have severely dehydrated skin/damaged moisture barrier. Background:In my late teens/early 20s I hardly drank water, usually diet soft drink. About 1.5 years ago I also started using Pixi Glow tonic (5% Glycolic acid) everyday as a toner in an attempt to heal acne. This would sometimes dry out the pimples so I would keep using it but then id still get more in the same areas. The breakouts started to get really worse on my right cheek all in the same area and after a while I thought maybe i was over exfoliating so I cut it back. Eventually i stopped all together and just used a Neutrogena sensitive moisturiser. I would wake up with dry tight skin which always got oily in the day. Then more recently tried 2.5% Benzoyl peroxide gel every night. My skin was red, flaky and inflamed. And now im here, drinking atleast 2L of water per day and using Avene's Cicalfate repair cream and Vaseline. Maybe not drinking water, combined with the prolonged use of AHA and then BP recently has maybe stuffed by skin barrier? Maybe my skin is dehydrated causing acne?Has anyone repaired their hydration/barrier and seen an improvement in acne? Please let me know!
