Beauty Tips For Body Care
31/M struggling with new skincare routine for beardFirst time I’ve posted here—I had acne in my teens, and always struggled with shaving/beard care. Essentially, I would shave every 3-4 days to avoid the inevitable red patchy, itchy irritation that shaving would reveal. Acne cleared up in my early 20s.Fast forward to March 2020, now 31, when I introduced beard oil (mix of jojoba and argan oil) to my routine and it kept the redness at bay for at least a few more days. But a few months ago, I got on here and read all the advice and products and decided to do something about my skin care routine.I was convinced I needed a cleanser, toner, moisturizer—at the very least. I tried Avene Tolerance Cleasing Lotion, Avene Tolerance Emulsion, LRP Cleanser, Hada Labo Toner, Cerave PM, Cerave in the jar, LRP Toleraine Double Repair Moisturizer, Cetaphil Oil-Control Moisturizer, and probably more. I introduced them one at a time, and ALL of them broke me out beyond a normal “purge” anywhere I applied them. When my beard would get longer (3-4 days), I’d add beard oil to the routine.I should add that I have eczema and apply cetaphil cream to my entire body every day (not to my face).I’m left now with a broken out, red face every time I shave (chin, mustache area, cheeks). My skin is soft AF, but looks awful. You can see the acne and redness developing beneath the beard…My routine rn is Avene cleansing lotion in shower, pat dry, Avene emulsion, and then beard oil if 2-3 days into beard growth. Same at night. Is there something obvious I’m doing wrong? I didn’t have acne until I started with all these products, so I don’t think I need an acne treatment… Should I go back to just the beard oil? Help!!!
