Beauty Tips For Body Care
For some background: 30/F. I struggled with severe acne that only went away with Accutane (and even now, I get some breakouts). I’ve tried every product and process under the sun, and I actually worked in corporate for a major beauty company for several years so I had access to lots of info and products.Over the years through lots of trial and error, I’ve learned that less is more with my skin. A few months ago, I purposefully stopped cleansing my skin in the morning with a cleanser and now just use water (plus a serum and SPF moisturizer). I shower at night and do a full-on makeup removal/cleanse/serum/night moisturizer. It seems to be working well; my skin looks and feels as good as ever, and I feel less dry.I had a facial yesterday and when I told the esthetician that I don’t use cleanser in the morning, she was aghast. She told me really condescendingly that I need to cleanse in the morning (“think of your skin touching the pillow and all of the grime that’s accumulating on your skin”) and she “urged” me to reconsider. I just smiled and said “okay, thanks for the tip.”Again, I’m not doing this out of laziness. It’s a purposeful decision I made as I continue to maintain my skin after having grown up with really traumatic acne.I’d love to hear some other opinions. What do you think? Is washing my face with only water and not a cleanser in the morning totally gross and ineffective? And the cleanser I’ve been using is Purpose wash, so it’s super gentle; I don’t even know if there is a step down from there in terms of something more gentle to try in between that and plain water.
