[Acne] Acne went from under control to out of control...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
When I first joined this sub, my skin was in fairly good condition, and I was looking to take it from just fine to great. I’m on hormonal birth control, and after the first few months of transitioning (three years ago), my skin cleared up and remained that way. I was following a routine with just a cleanser and moisturizer, and while I didn’t think it was making my skin amazing, it was keeping it clear and I was fine with that. I switched to just OCM cleansing with hemp seed oil a few months ago, and saw my skin take a turn for the better — improved complexion, softer, glowing skin, but all the sudden, my skin started not to take it so well. I noticed blackheads developing in places I didn’t usually get them. My occasional spots of acne didn’t go away as they normally would after a few days, until it got to the point where I would say that I definitely had acne again. Even after switching back to my tried and true routine, my skin didn’t seem to care, so I visited a derm to get this dealt with. She prescribed me a new routine, and I’ve stuck to it for about a month now, and my acne seems… well, even worse. My acne comes and goes, but I can’t tell if it’s my skin purging for (what feels like) the longest time, or if there is seriously something wrong with my skin. I feel so lost right now. I would like to visit my derm again, but I felt like she didn’t really listen much to me last time, and kind of feel like she wants to just sell me her products… any help is really appreciated.Routine: AM – * Rinse face with warm water * Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel (have used this for years, as mentioned) * (Shower) * CeraVe PM Moisturizing Facial LotionPM – * Rinse face with warm water * Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel * Rinse face with warm water * Apply CeraVe PM Moisturizing Facial Lotion mixed with a pea-sized amount of Tretinoin Gel, 0.025% OR * Apply Glycolic Acid (10%) with cotton ball, let sit for 10 minutes * Rinse face with warm water * CeraVe PM Moisturizing Facial Lotion

[Acne] Does citrus cause cysts for anyone else?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Not sure why, but every time I have a couple oranges or something I'll get a couple painful cysts a few days later. I've tested this over and over and it always comes after eating citrus.

[Acne] Is there a non-hormonal solution to hormonal acne?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin is a mess after a recent miscarriage. I know that this is due to my hormones being crazy right now and could be solved by taking hormonal birth control but that's not an option since we are trying to conceive. The acne is a really unwelcome reminder of my body being messed up right now. Is there any way to deal with it other than just aggressively covering it up until it goes away on its own? I'm 30 and didn't really think I'd be dealing with acne for the rest of my life :(If it matters right now all I do for skin care is wash my face with cerave gentle soap and moisturize with a non-comedogenic generic lotion.

[Acne][Personal] I feel uncomfortable in my bare skin and I have anxiety attacks occasionally because of my skin.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Background story: I've been struggling with acne since I was 16. My condition peaks, then troughs. Was put on antibiotics which worked, but only when I was on the course of it. It seems that every time I experience a change in environment, my skin will decide to act up. Last year, I had a very bad bout of closed comedones problem, which then turn into a full-blown outbreak. I refused to use birth controls, or accutane (which was never suggested by my GP because most doctors think that my condition is moderate-mild). I've been trying countless products and finally found a routine which works for me. I am also currently undergoing laser treatments which have helped tremendously.BUT, my skin is still far from perfect. I still have PIH and some occasional outbreaks, and I am still very inferior about my bare skin. It honestly doesn't look THAT bad but it still doesn't look 'normal' yet. I get very panicky about showing my bare face infront of people, because I am afraid of what they'll comment about it.In the past, my SO's mum used to look at my face and asked me why was it like that, and tried to recommend me some products. I know that she does it out of concern but it definitely didn't help with my all time low confidence level. Then when my skin got better but with PIH, she kept asking why are there still so many pimples on my face when they are all PIH. I explained to her that it was PIH but she just brushed it off and said it wasn't because to them older people who isn't into skincare terms and such, pigmentation = age spot, freckles and the likes. I would've blew my temper if she wasn't my SO's mum, honestly. I tried my best to put these matters aside, but I'm actually still very much affected by it. When I'm over at my SO's place, I try to hide in his room as much as possible after dinner or what not, especially when I''m not wearing make up. Even when my complexion has improved a lot, I still feel very concerned about his mum looking at my skin because sometimes I feel her staring at my face but she just doesn't say anything.I also get very uncomfortable when people stare at my skin when I tell them I'm currently undergoing laser treatments, or just stare at my face in general. I also get very awkward and anxious and I refuse to look at anyone in the eye when I have no make up on. It sucks and I think they only solution for this is for me to get my good skin asap, which I'm looking forward to.But now, I just have to live with this awkwardness.Does anyone of you feel the same way as I do? Because at times, I'm starting to think that I am depressed about my condition and it does affect my relationship too :(
