Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! First off this subreddit has completely changed my life, I utilized the information from the sidebar a while back to completely revamp how I treat my skin and it's been a world of difference.I'm actually coming here for advice on helping my 13 year old sister. We live on opposite sides of the country now and obviously there's only so much I can do as our parents largely control how she handles her skin, but I can probably figure out how to inform them and help her out with her acne issues. Doesn't help that they are in the medical field (but not dermatologists at all) so convincing them that I know "better" will be it's own ordeal... But I suspect that's more of an r/relationships question anyway, so back to the skincare.Skin type - oily and acne prone, hormonal acne is obviously a large componentCurrent routine:1.shower and use PanOxyl soap on face2.blot dry face with towel3.apply CeraVe cream4.apply dermatologist prescribed Adapalene Gel5.apply aloe Vera all over face (note: I asked her about whether this stuff was pure aloe or what, she said no but she thinks it helps - I think it's the kind for sunburns with alcohol in it)If it's relevant - she lives in a high humidity tropical savannah environment.I'm new to all this but here is what I'm able to tell at a glance:1) pretty sure she should be starting with a more gentle cleanser, I can't figure out if that panoxyl soap is a chemical exfoliant or what2) the cerave moisturizer needs to be going on last?3) she seems to think it helps but I am convinced the aloe gel is a bad idea (if it had alcohol isn't it acting as more of a toner?) but I would need to be able to explain why beyond "I'm pretty sure it is."From what I can tell, aside from the hormonal factor I'm pretty sure all of these things are stressing her skin and increasing oil production, but I would like to hear your thoughts. I know this stuff is really affecting her self-esteem and I would like to help if I can.
