I've been frustrated with my acne scars for years and took action last year by getting lasers (some sublative something-or-other crap the derm sold me on) that of course barely made a dent in my overall scar improvement. I've scoured the internet and only come across the rare anecdote here and there on improvement on ice-pick and box scars (my type of scars) through a combination of treatments.I settled on going for subcision, to me it made sense, scar tissue is tethering my sunken scars down and breaking this up underneath the skin would promote collagen production where surface laser treatment wouldn't. So I went to my consultation today, at the same place that did my lasers since I seriously could not find one place in my area that did subcision. They basically told me that subcision wouldn't be effective on ice-pick/box scars and that they're primarily only effective on rolling scars. They then recommended TCA cross. I'm just...skeptical, and so so tired of trying to find some resources and reliable information from people that have had success in their ice-pick and atrophic scar reduction journey. I currently have an appointment setup but please /r/skincareaddiction, any insight into stories of your own, whether it be success through subcision/fillers/chemical peels for atrophic scarring, please help. I'm at my wits end and simply don't think that TCA cross, or any surface treatment, can promote collagen in any meaningful way.
