[Product Question] What is the main difference between tretinoin and a BHA?

They are both chemical exfoliants, right? So I'm wondering, do they both basically do the same thing or is there any benefit to using one over the other? I know tretinoin is stronger but I'm wondering if BHAs are better at treating/preventing acne?I would also like to know if it's okay to use tretinoin some nights and a BHA on other nights, or would this be too much for the skin?
