[Anti-aging] Retinol - should I give up, continue, or try a different brand?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been trying to add Retinol to my routine recently. My purposes are anti-aging, and fighting occasional breakouts and closed comedones.I was using Paula's Choice clinical retinol 1% treatment for the last 2 months ( or even more). The problem is my skin still cannot adjust to it! How long does it usually take to be able to use it every night without any irritation? What I was doing: I put moisturiser first usually, then small amount of retinol on top of that. Next day my face is peeling, red, irritated, even gentle moisturizer stings. So I give my skin 2-3 days to recover, then do same thing again. Same reaction. And this continues for 2 months already. I was hoping to slowly build up tolerance, but it's not happening. Not sure why.In the meantime, I stopped using bha, aha, oil cleansing. I try to be as gentle to my face as possible.Should I give my skin to more time to adjust? How much more? Or maybe try different brand? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?
