Beauty Tips For Body Care
[Skin Concerns] [hair removal]Hey guys, I've always had problems with bumps from shaving. It's caused scars, wrinkles on my neck from wounds and scarring, uneven tone, hyperpigmentation, etc. 😟At this point, I don't know what else to do.Growing a beard is not an option. I work in an ultra-conservative field with very few blacks (even in America) and while shaving is not officially banned, it's definitely frowned up and may hinder career mobility. I obviously don't want that.I recently started shaving with an old school single edge razor to combat the bumps (based on advice I got from a paid "shaving specialist" recommended by my derm). It's been ok, but the bumps remain (and may even be worse than when I shaved with a clipper). Apparently, my hair is curly, coarse, and grows parallel to my skin. As a result, by 5pm everyday (after shaving at like 9-10am), I already have bumps and ingrown hairs starting to form.I think I just need a good exfoliator and possibly something to lift the hair off the skin (or maybe something to inhibit hair growth). I use a brush to apply my shaving cream and also pre-wash with the clarisonic device, but apparently that's not working so well. Can anyone out there recommend a GOOD daily exfoliator for black skin (i.e., African skin)?I asked my derm for salicylic acid, but he recommended against it because it "darkens" the skin and creates uneven skin tone.Is tazorac any good?Is retin-A?What about a benzoyl peroxide wash?Do tried and tested daily exfoliation regimes for African skin even exist? Are there any OTC creams for inhibiting facial hair growth?Am I wasting my time trying to get this under control?Any advice would be truly appreciated!
