Beauty Tips For Body Care
TL;DR Dermaplaning was a painless experience that made me look and feel years younger. My skincare products and makeup absorb much better!I was very curious about dermaplaning for about a year, and after doing extensive research on it, I got my first session done a few days ago!I went to a local Medspa in Austin, TX (where I go for my botox [forehead] and juvederm [lips]) where it was on special from $105 to $69.I washed my face thoroughly and left the house with absolutely zero product. When I got there, they asked me when was the last time I had washed my face. I told them 10 minutes ago and they took me back! The first step was a thorough layer of alcohol to sanitize. She turned the room lights low but had a very bright light shone on my face. She explained the entire process and asked if I had any questions. The scalpel they use is small and single use (was sealed in plastic). She then told me to let her know if I had to sneeze or scratch my nose or was uncomfortable at any point. She then put a face mask on over her mouth and had me close my eyes. The scraping: I was worried that this would hurt or be uncomfortable but it really wasn’t. My gal did small even strokes that actually felt pretty cathartic. She would consistently check in to make sure I was comfortable. The entire face took about 15 minutes and she checked numerous times to make sure she got every spot. Toward my hairline was a bit ticklish, but overall very relaxing. After that, she put on a cooling eucalyptus mint mask (it was a jelly consistency) that stung a tiny bit at first (which she gave me the heads up on) and then quickly felt very refreshing. She then used a laser tool (can’t remember the exact name) that used pulses to seal in the mask. This didn’t feel like laser hair removal (which I get and sometimes hurts me). In fact, it didn’t really feel like much at all! All I could feel were the vibrations from the machine.Last but not least was a warm towel treatment. This removed a lot of the excess mask. She “sealed” my face with a vitamin c serum and eye cream and then let me see my face in the mirror.I looked incredible! All my blonde peach fuzz and dead skin cells were gone and my face was baby butt smooth. I have a few flesh colored moles that are slightly raised (they drive me crazy but luckily can only be seen in certain lights and if I point them out) and maybe I’m imagining it but they seemed more flush my skin. My skin FELT incredible. She told me I could go about my skincare routine as normal and could even use tret that same night (I didn’t - it was an off night anyway).Flash forward a few days....I’ve been doing my normal routine and have experienced ZERO pain, itching, bumps, redness, or rash. My products and makeup absorb so much better and my skin is literally glowing. I was worried about the peach fuzz growing back prickly. So far (5 days later) nothing has grown back, but she assured me when it did, it’d be soft. For those curious, I have normal/dry skin that is fair with lots of freckles. I have been blessed with zero acne, but have quite a few fine lines I’m combating with skincare and good ol botox (I’m 29).Sorry for the long post, but I hope someone finds it helpful! Happy to answer any questions anyone may have :)
