[Acne] Differin has helped kick my hormonal acne!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Sharing in case this can help anyone else.33/F, dry skin with hormonal acne.I had to stop hormonal birth control after my little sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her tumor type was estrogen and progesterone positive and with other external factors, I had to go off it as to not increase my already high risk. This led to the worst hormonal acne ever that nothing at all helped.Decided to give differin a try. I quit a few days into differin once before, a couple years ago, because of the skin burning, but this time I committed to at least finishing an entire large tube and reassessing. Decided to jump in and use it everyday right away since my skin isn't sensitive at all. It's winter time here and my skin is already dry so I knew I was in for some dry, flaky burning. It emerged day 4, along with purging that lasted about a week then got better, and after that, my skin has just steadily gotten better. I currently have zero active breakouts on my face for the first time in forever. I've been on it about 6 weeks or so.I also landed on an amazing routine that's helped combat the dryness and stopped the burning totally.AM:Splash of waterDr. Jart Cicapair cream (helps with the redness and the dryness)Etude House Mild Airy Finish sunscreenPM:Hada Labor cleansing oil (or bioderma pink cap micellar water, depending on how lazy im feeling)Glossier milky jelly cleanserDr. Jart Ceramidin LiquidMarula oilDifferin (always after the oil, helped combat the dryness and burning without losing any potency)Kicho sheep oil cream (Holy Grail moisturizer for me... My skin breaks out badly from petrolatum products so lanolin was the next best thing... I layer extra around the corners of my nose since that area gets sensitive)Other notes:I quit all actives, even BHA. I think BHA was making things worse anyway.hydrating sheet mask once a week (depending on how my skin feels, as a final step)a hydrating/moisturizing mask once a week... Glamglow thirstymud burned the shit out of my skin but First Aid Beauty's oatmeal mask was CLUTCH.some moisturizers I used to be cool with began stinging, so I had to do some trial and errorafter a week, I stopped applying differing around my temples... That area got so red and peeled plus I never broke out there ever so I skipped it altogetherHope this can be helpful to someone!
