Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have dry, eczema-prone skin, some light rosacea, and a couple of diagnosed skin allergies. Here are reviews of the empties that have been in my bathroom recycling bin for the past few months:La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 - At the start of winter my skin went crazy. I picked this up in a moment of desperation. I'm so glad I tried this stuff. It was a great night time occlusive. It also made a great daytime moisturizer/primer on makeup days. WRPInkey List Snow Mushroom Moisturizer - The first time I tried this my skin was tight, dry and itchy by late afternoon. It's probably fine, but it's not for me, it's probably better suited for oily skin types. I used it up by adding an oil to it. The lesson I learned here is that I need to stop being enticed by pretty sounding ingredients. WNRPMay Coop Raw Moisturizer - I picked this up at TJ Marshall's just before I was diagnosed with a number of allergies (fragrance high among them) in 2018. The amount of fragrance in this stuff is eye watering. I used this up on my feet and lower body. After being fragrance free for over a year, I can't believe that once upon a time I would have used this stuff on my face... WNRPCeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream - I've been through numerous jars of this cream. It's a good stand alone product for my dry skin, it doesn't require the addition of oils or anything else to make it work. I wish it was a little less pricey, but it's totally worth it to me. I pick it up when it's on sale. WRPPaula's Choice Lip & Body Treatment Balm - It's a great lip balm. But there are lots of great lip balms out there. I probably wouldn't have purchased this on my own, it was a free gwp, and I'm glad I tried it. It's nicely moisturizing and fragrance-free. Once I go through the million other lip balms I have laying around I'll probably circle back to this one. WRPBenton Cacao Moist and Mild Toner - I picked this up when I was having moisture barrier issues. It really is nice and mild, not particularly moisturizing though. I'd say it's on par, maybe a step below, the Etude House SoonJung Toner. WNRPMissha Near Skin Phyto Azulen Cream - This was just ok. My skin didn't feel particularly calmed by this moisturizer, but it wasn't irritated either. The packaging was annoying, it's an old school aluminum tube. I may have liked it more had I tried it during the summer. WNRPCosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - I will buy this stuff as long as it's being produced. It really is soothing. This makes a good mixing medium for cocktailing serums that are too irritating to be put directly on my skin (vitamin C's and some retinols) and other random (mostly TO) serums that I'm trying to use up before expiration. WRPCSI Collagen Nourish Anti-Wrinkle Serum - The ingredients list looked promising: Chondrus crispus (seaweed) extract, purified water, hyaluronic acid, pseudoalteromonas ferment extract, hydrolyzed wheat protein, hydrolyzed soy protein, tripeptide-10 citrulline, tripeptide-1, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin. This was ok at first. But something irritated me while I was using this. I stopped using it (and nearly everything else) for about a month, when I went back to try it again, it had gone cloudy, so I didn't finish it. There are other peptide serums that I know and love. WNRPMissha Time Revolution Night Repair - I've been using this stuff for years, it's something I always come back to. It's a good basic all around serum. I use it both day and night. Missha has a number of sales throughout the year. WRPThe Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F - I gave TO's 23% Vitamin C a bunch of chances, but it totally messed me up. This was a much friendlier alternative for my skin. I didn't usually use it neat, since it was and oil I usually added it to a moisturizer or a moisturizing serum. WRPThe Ordinary 100% Organic Virgin Chia Seed Oil - I have really dry skin, and this winter was especially bad. I use a lot of different types of oils. I went through this one very quickly, it was nice. I'll probably pick it up again in the future after I finish everything else up. WRPThe Ordinary "B" Oil - I wanted to like this. But I had some irritation while I was using this. I'm not sure if this was the culprit, but it does have rosemary. I did finish it, mixed in with moisturizer. But there are plenty of other oils that I like and that I'm 100% sure of. WNRPLotioncrafter Neossance Squalane - I've tried The Ordinary, Acure, and a sample of Drunk Elephant. I can't say I noticed a major difference between any of them. This one is cheapest and works just as well as any of the others. I'll stick to this one or The Ordinary. WRPVMV Hypoallergenics Red Better Deeply Soothing Cleansing Cream - I picked this up when my skin was recovering from an allergic reaction. It's just ok. Nothing from this brand has been worth the high price tag in my opinion. The CeraVe non-foaming cleanser works just as well. And the Paula's Choice Moisture Boost One Step Cleanser is even better than the CeraVe. WNRP
