[acne] [psa] Olena Beley routine review service - my experience

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I wanted to publish a recent experience I had with a Olena Beley so that people in the ScA community have some more information before investing in her routine review service.I want to preface this by saying that Olena has a unique perspective when it comes to skincare and it is clear that she has done a lot of research on the topic.I reached out to Olena earlier this year and purchased her Routine Review service ($850) with the goal of clearing up my acne. After meeting with her and implementing her routine, my skin flared up and got worse. When I contacted her to get guidance, she said to give it time.I gave the routine four months at which point my skin was the worst it had ever been. I was at a loss, especially given the price of the service, and attempted reaching out to her again to troubleshoot. She did not answer my emails.I realized that she was not going to help me further and that I would need to take matters into my own hands. This was, admittedly, very disappointing because her Routine Reviews are extremely expensive.I started analyzing the products recommended and realized many of the products have algae (Jane Iredale powder, the ordinary hylauronic acid, the bioderma moisturizer she recommends...) which can be acne-causing for some. After eliminating these products I was still breaking out (not nearly as bad), so I switched to a much simpler routine and ended up clearing up although I still have pretty intense scaring from the whole experience. In my current routine I do not use any of her recommended products.Ultimately, I take responsibility for investing a large amount of money in someone who does not have a medical background in skincare or any concrete credentials to be giving skincare advice. Although she has before and after photos on her Instagram, this is not proof that her routines work for everyone. There are a lot of people on the internet that offer similar services, claiming they can cure your acne by recommending certain products. I know the people in this community are very smart, but it’s worth communicating my lesson learned: there are no quick fixes when it comes to skincare. You know your skin and you will likely be able to tell quickly if a product is working for you or not. Please trust your intuition.
