Beauty Tips For Body Care
So, this has been keeping me up at night, and if there’s anyone with inside info I would love to have it!Last year, before the start of the pandemic, I went to a physical location for The Ordinary to buy more Salicylic acid. It’s a staple in my skincare routine and I get lots of blackheads without it. Proceeded to have the strangest conversation of my life.”Hi, do you have any of the salicylic acid?””No, we don’t do it anymore””oh, ok...””they’re reformulating it, they do that sometimes with the most popular products”*confused face**confused face back as he realised what he’d been told to say made no sense*Fast forward to today, over a year later, the product is still being reformulated...My main question is, what’s the business tactic here? Like there are infinite brands copying the Ordinary’s business model now (purchasing active ingredients individually) so I’ve already moved on to an alternative that I’ve found I actually prefer. I like to have a very consistent skincare routine, so once I find a product I like, I want to be able to repurchase it indefinitely. For that reason, I don’t see myself ever purchasing from the ordinary again, since they’ve proven unreliable.Reasons like “there’s a pandemic, they can’t exactly reformulate it!” Don’t make sense because other copycat companies have been able to release salicylic acid solutions during the pandemic. At first I thought they were taking it off the market, so that when they brought it back people would be willing to pay triple the price for it, but with all the copycats, I can’t imagine there’s anybody still willing to wait for their reformulation.Does anyone have any tea? Or maybe there’s some big obvious reason I’m missing? If you also used to use this product, this could also be a thread to share alternatives
