I am currently trying to make up my mind about arbutin, I searched but I come across older links so I thought restating the question could be helpful. It really seems like a very controversial ingredient in cosmetics. Some say it is safe, others that there isn't enough research and it is too close to hydroquinone to feel safe. There are also people pointing out hydroquinone is not actually bad if you apply it topically and I am just so incredibly confused. Is it safe and is there enough data to support that?Also, my understanding is that unlike niacinamide, I can use products with arbutin with acids without flushing (a huge issue for me), right?
