[Product Question] AHA for the first time and it's burning my face. The AHA also smells terrible for some reason.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone, I finally added an AHA to my routine (Paula's Choice 8% Glycolic Acid), applying it after I cleansed with CeraVe Hydrating. I am currently patch testing it on one cheek and on direct application, my cheek burned/stung like crazy from the AHA and it continued for quite a bit of time during absorption. Is this normal? And if not what should I do?Also, I don't know if this is normal, but the AHA smells terrible.
