[product question] PC 2% BHA gel burning sensation

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys,I recently purchased PC 2% BHA gel and tried it for the first time. I have patch tested it on my jaw and found nothing out of the ordinary. My skin is fairly chill so I have never had issues with products and have been getting away with just cleansing and moisturizing my skin once a day for years. My only skin concern is hormonal acne (which I don't deal with topically) and some redness under my nostrils (which is fairly recent). My biggest concern is blackheads and/or sebaceous filaments, which is why I purchased the BHA. I also did not expect anything to happen since Ive never dealt with allergic reactions or irritation to products in my life. After trying it out full face I immediately that there was something going on. My face felt hot and some areas were prickly, especially the irritated skin under my nostrils but also parts of my upper cheek area and forehead. This kept going for about 30 minutes and then became less and less (I also fell asleep). This morning I see nothing out of the ordinary going on with my skin. So now im left wondering if this was a reaction to the product (irritation), which is weird since I patch-tested... or just a one time thing that is normal for an active since Ive never used a BHA before and 2% might be a little harsh. It might have been better to go for the 1% first, but everyone on here seemed okay with the 2% and since I was kind of overconfident I thought my skin would be totally fine :(Im kind of scared to put it on again, I was planning to wait at least a week before trying again. What do you guys think, is this a normal reaction for skin dealing with an active for the first time...can I expect this every time or is this not normal and I should stop immediately??edit to clarify: the burning was not bad, it was more that my face felt slightly warm and some areas were prickly for a while (especially the chafed part under the nose) and there was no redness. I just got alarmed since this has never happened before. The warmth subsided after 20-30 minutes and I woke up with no side-effects.
