Beauty Tips For Body Care
I should preface this by saying I am not affiliated with Acne Org in the slightest. I am not being paid to write this post, nor am I sponsored. I am gainfully employed at a law firm. I created this account (strongwerks) as well as my Imgur account (also strongwerks) for the sake of anonymity. From this, I don't have any other posts on this reddit account or Imgur account. I genuinely hope this does not get taken down by moderators as I spent a long time writing this out in a way that I hope is useful for others struggling with similar issues. To the moderators, if there is an issue with this post, please send me a message and I can prove my identity or show you my alternative reddit account.Hello! The skincare regimen I am referring to is Acne Org. I found Acne Org by searching this subreddit and am SO grateful. I only felt it necessary to give back by sharing my experience.Skin type - oily/combination History - I struggled with acne off/on during and after high school. Now into my late 20s, I will occasionally get a pimple but nothing that didn't clear up within a week or so. More or less my routine throughout my 20s -2x daily - gentle skin cleanser (such as Cetaphil)2x daily - a spritz of Mario Badescu facial spray with aloe, herbs, and rosewaterErratic application of an oil-free moisturizer, usually during summer monthsSpot treating pimples with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. After the beginning of a stressful move and month of December 2016, my skin broke out in closed comedones along with a handful of zits. I had no idea what I was doing differently other than my hormones were just freaking out. I kept using my skin cleanser and facial spray but began to spot treat the pimples with the 10% BP at night and sometimes during the day. This only seemed to aggravate my skin. I switched to using Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion as an alternative spot treatment. I began to run into issues when I realized my face was covered in pink spots and I had to SCRUB my skin to get the pink off in the morning. I honestly think this made the whole situation worse. As a side note, for the occasional pimple, I do think this Drying Lotion works well. But for a whole army of them, I would not recommend it.What is more, the closed comedones starting turning into zits and new zits began to appear. I read a lot about "purging" and took it as a good sign. But, in hindsight, I think my skin was just reacting and further spreading bacteria. I do not think this was a healing process in any way.I debated back and forth about going to see a dermatologist, but hesitated as I did not read a lot of positive results from prescription drugs. I didn't want to invest more money and time into what seemed like a crapshoot. As I mentioned previously, after desperately searching the internet, I came upon Acne Org on this subreddit. Upon reading several positive testimonials on Reddit, YouTube, and Amazon, I figured it was worth a shot. They have a STRICT regimen to follow and in a way, that comforted me and gave me a direction to follow.I purchased the Acne Org Regimen Kit for about $45. It was delivered to my house in less than 5 days. I'm not exaggerating...within a week my skin was clearing up. I did have to suffer through a few closed comedones surfacing. Again, I don't think this is purging...I believe they were already well on their way to developing into zits. I followed their regimen to a t, never wavering on the time of day I applied the skincare (2x daily, morning and night - no excuses) and never applying more or less than suggested.I believe the 2.5% BP is a huge factor in helping your skin without aggravating it. Also, consistently using moisturizer seemed to be key. Just because my skin is oily, does not mean I should have abandoned moisturizing! My skin may have even developed to be more oily/acne prone because I didn't moisturize smh.I'd also like to add I made a handful of lifestyle changes as well -Change pillowcases every day - I ordered a stack of about 20 cases off of Amazon to make this task easier and reduce laundry loadsCompletely refrain from touching face and absolutely NOT popping any zitsMake sure no clothing, phone surfaces, or other people's fingers were on my face. Essentially, a HANDS OFF policy. Especially since it is winter, I was wearing scarves and big coats which repeatedly grazed my cheeks. Without washing the clothing in between uses, they became cesspools for bacteria that I believe contributed to the spread of acne on my face. When drying my face after washing it, I use toilet paper. I know it's wasteful and I feel bad, but I read too much about the downfalls of using the same towel to dry your face. Again, bacteria cesspool. With that, I am happy to report that after 3 weeks, my skin is in MUCH better shape and on its way back to being clear, apart from some adolescent acne scars. Those I just have to live with...again, do not pop your zits. That was a tough lesson for me to learn. Please reach out with any questions. I understand how horrible this experience can be and would love to be a resource for anyone struggling. I was embarrassed, did't want to leave the house, and had several cry sessions, feeling hopeless from failed attempts to remedy my problem. I will post pictures ASAP once I figure out how it works.Thank you for listening and I hope this helps.
