[Misc] Splurge vs Save: What's worth the extra money and what to save on?

With makeup, there's often discussion about what's worth extra money (foundation, for example) and what to go cheaper on (often mascara). I'm wondering if you have any opinions on this when it comes to skincare. What's worth it? What is great on a budget? Does it depend on skin type? Either specific products or general product types.For example, in my personal experience, I've found it easy to cheap out on a cleanser ($5 or less for 150 ml) because I can find a gentle one and it does about the same job as an expensive one with comparable ingredients.But I've never been able to go budget with moisturizer for some reason. Acne treatment too. I have to reach for Avene or La Roche Posay--not sure how expensive that is for you, but it's a little pricey in my country. I've also never found a budget-friendly but effective rosacea treatment.What are your experiences?
