[Misc] Does a emollient/occlusive/humectant blended moisturizer abosrb into the skin?

Since a occlusive protects the outer layer of the skin and pretty much doesn't absorb into the skin like mineral oil or petroleum. But what about those hundreds of moisturizers that contain humectants, emollient oils, with an occlusive ingredient at the top of the ingredient list like petroleum. Those any of those beneficial emollient oils and humectants such as hyaluronic acid have a chance to absorb within the skin? Also do emollient oils absorb into the skin layers, or just sit on top of your skin?
