Beauty Tips For Body Care
First time poster and new to the thread, so advance apologizes if I missed a protocol.I'm a 26 year old female, just found out from the dermatologist I have cystic acne. She prescribed Benzaclin 1%-5% every morning, Retin-A .025% at bedtime, and 3 months of Doxycycline. Of course I want to clear up my acne, but I'm wondering if this is overkill. My acne is contained to a very small area (less than thumb length) and pretty sparse. I am very fair skinned and am hesitant to go down a course that will make me more sun sensitive if it isn't necessary. I also have extremely dry skin.I have tried Stridex pads and had some slow success in clearing it up. It's easy to conceal my acne with makeup, so I'm debating trying a wait-and-see approach with the Stridex and other OTC solutions, or adding the Benzaclin in as a spot treatment but holding off on the Retin-A/Doxcycline.My questions are: Is there a downside to ignoring my derm's prescribed course and not treating this aggressively from the start? Is scarring likely to occur? Has anyone been in my situation and had success clearing up acne just using BHAs?Also, my routine is: AM - rise face with water, rosehip oil, Yonka 28 cream. PM - remove makeup with rosehip oil, rinse with Eminence Stonecrop Gel Wash, tone with rosehip oil, Yonka 28 cream. And, off and on I've tried Stridex pads and a Paula's Choice BHA for the last month which has cleared up the acne a fair bit. Thanks for reading!
