[Personal] Is anyone else way too easily swayed by anecdotal evidence?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
[Eating/drinking/eliminating/using] ____ cured my [acne/eczema/dermatitis/PIE/scars/aging skin]!!!Every time I read an account from someone about what caused/cured their skin problems I immediately feel convinced that such changes will cure me of all my woes. I'm a scientist by trade! I know this is huge fallacy that has been around as long as modern man. For every person who swears that a product, medication, diet change, or just believing hard enough (/s) solved all their problems, there is at least one other who says it did the opposite. I have PCOS, ADHD, and major depression, so I know from experience that this isn't just an issue in the cosmetic and skincare community. So why do I ALWAYS fall for it? I can go from believing something may solve all my issues to cause them all in no time flat. It is frustrating. Those of you with persistent skin issues, how do you stop yourself from going with the persitant tide of anecdotal information?
