[Sun Care] REVIEW of 14 Sunscreens on Medium-Dark (ethnically Indian) skin!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I’ve been taking notes on all the sunscreens I’ve tried over several months and I’ve compiled a series of mini reviews if anyone’s interested! I have very warm, medium-dark skin. I tend to use different sunscreens for different purposes (I have a preferred sunscreen for liquid foundation, powder foundation, no foundation, and quickly getting out the door). I don’t wear face makeup often, so my preferred products for under makeup are on the pricier side because they are used so infrequently. I also prefer to wear all-physical sunscreen under face makeup because I don’t get to reapply. I’m still on the hunt for a holy-grail sunscreen (preferably physical or combo) I can slap on and hop out the door on a rushed morning because I don’t particularly love the eye-stinging avobenzone so generously provides. I’ve found that I can kind make a slight white cast work for me if I continue the whitecast down my neck and chest so it all kind of looks uniformly lightened, but it takes effort. Also, I have neck wrinkles/creases/whatever you call them that apparently people are supposed to get as they grow older, but I’ve had them for as long as I can remember (I’m 24). Sunscreen really seems to like to settle into these things. For reference, I was matched to an NC42 in the studio fix powder but it honestly looks terrible on me because my skin is much more yellow. I’m between Toasty Toffee and Cashew in Estee Lauder’s Doublewear depth wise, but I’m much more yellow in undertone than either of those colors (and most fondations TBH). In the Bare minerals BarePro powder foundation, I’m between Camel and Honeycomb. Sorry if all those foundation references were excessive, just trying to be thorough!I don’t burn that easily but I tan super easily. I’m sensitive to oxybenzone, and my face doesn’t seem to love alcohol anywhere in my skincare. My skin is very combination – if we could mine my T-zone for oil, we could power a small country, but the lower half of my face is drier than California in the summer of 2016. I’m determined to find a western sunscreen that meets all of my needs! For reference, my current routine is:AM : Cleanse with either LRP Toleriane Foaming or CeraVe SA renewing cleanser, Paula’s Choice Resist Super Light Antioxidant Serum, CeraVePM, SunscreenPM : Cleanse with either LRP Toleriane Foaming or CeraVe SA renewing cleanser, Either TO 5% LA or PC 2% BHA Liquid (once every 3 days), TO 10% Niacinimide + 1% Zinc, CeraVePM, TO Marula Oil on my dry areas.I’ve listed below the sunscreens I have tried out so far. The white cast ratings go from 0 (no whitecast) to 5 (fairly opaque and looks terrible). In the future, I would really like to try out the Glytone Sunscreen lotion, Bare Minerals Prep Step SPF 50, and the Obagi Sun Shield, and the Dr. Dennis Gross Physical Sunscreen Spray. If you have any insights on these products please share!Alright, here we go…1) Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30Price: $12.99Volume: 4 ozPrice / ounce: $3.25/ozType: ChemicalIngredients: Avobenzone (3%), Octisalate (5%), Octocrylene (7%). Water,Isopropyl Lauroyl Sarcosinate,Glycerin,Dimethicone,Diisopropyl Sebacate,Silica,Polymethyl Methacrylate,Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate,Sucrose Tristearate,Dimethiconol,Pentylene Glycol,Polysorbate 61,Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate,Phenoxyethanol,Caprylyl Glycol,Tocopheryl Acetate,Glycyrrhetinic Acid,Panthenol,Triethanolamine,Allantoin,Carbomer,Potassium Sorbate,Zinc Gluconate,Xanthan Gum,Disodium EDTA,Hydroxypalmitoyl Sphinganine.Repurchase: YesWhite Cast: 0Opinion: This is currently my go-to on days when I just couldn't be bothered to deal with all the blending, rubbing, and waiting that combo sunscreens/mineral sunscreens require. The only reason I don't use this daily is because I'm just not the biggest fan of avobenzone. It takes about 3 pumps of this product to get 1/4 teaspoon; this isn’t a complaint though, just an observation. It doesn't keep oil at bay on my skin, but if applied in layers, it is matte upon application. If you gloop all 3 pumps on at once, you're gunna look like a hot greasy mess. This sunscreen doesn't play very well with makeup at all (I've tried it with EL Double Wear, Bare Minerals Bare Pro, Nars radiant creamy concealer, EL Doublewear concealer, NYX HD concealer, Loreal infallible matte, literally NOTHING likes this sunscreen). But since I rarely wear more than mascara and brow product, I'm fine with that. Overall, I like that this product is cheap and fuss free, and I will continue to buy and use it unless I find something better within the same price range.2) EltaMD UV LotionPrice: $34Volume: 7 ozPrice / ounce: $4.86/ozType: CombinationIngredients: Octinoxate 7.5%, Zinc Oxide 7.0%, Purified Water, Petrolatum, Isopropyl Palmitate, Octyl Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Dimethicone, PEG-100 Stearate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polyisobutene, PEG-7 Trimethylolpropane Coconut Ether, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyether-1, Citric Acid, Oleth-3 Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Butylene Glycol, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane.Repurchase: NoWhite cast: 3.5Opinion: I bought this because I fell in love with the price. If you're fair skinned with a dry skin type, I expect you might love this. On me, though, it was greasy, and very white when I use the recommended .25 teaspoon amount on my face. I never used a moisturizer under this because it's quite moisturizing on its own for my combo skin, but it's become the sunscreen I only use if I'm staying at home studying all day and nobody important is going to see me. I struggle to get an even application with this, and on my darker skin, it ends up getting quite streaky. It also settles into the neck creases within 5 minutes, and no matter how many times I wipe it away throughout the day, it constantly settles into the neck creases.3) EltaMD UV PhysicalPrice: $30Volume: 3 ozPrice / ounce: $10/ozType: PhysicalIngredients: Zinc Oxide 9.0%, Titanium Dioxide 7.0%. Inactive: Aluminum Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Dimethicone/Methicone Copolymer, Hydrated Silica, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Iron Oxide, Isopropyl Palmitate, Lecithin, Linoleic Acid, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Octyl Stearate, Oleth-3 Phosphate, Perfluorononyl Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylate 13/Polyisobutene/Polysorbate 20, Purified Water, Quercetin, Sodium Hydroxide, Thioctic Acid (Alpha Lipoic Acid), Triethoxycaprylylsilane.Repurchase: NoWhite cast: 5Opinion: Back when I was just a naïve cherub in the world of sunscreen, I was under the impression that tinted physical sunscreens were the way to go. How else would I manage to avoid the dreaded white cast?! Every review I read about this sunscreen at the time was complimentary, and the little sample squiggle of color on the sunscreen’s promo pictures looked like it would match me quite well. So I took the plunge and splurged on my first “expensive” sunscreen, and it was HORRIBLE! This looks like I just tried to slather my face in the wrong foundation shade, and this stuff is ridiculously opaque. I learned my lesson: the words “universal tint,” actually mean “DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, YOU’RE TOO BROWN FOR THIS.”4) EltaMD UV ShieldPrice: $48Volume: 7 ozPrice / ounce: $6.86/ozType: CombinationIngredients: 9.0% Zinc Oxide, 7.5% Octinoxate, Purified Water, Isopropyl Palmitate, Octyl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Oleth-3 Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polyisobutene, Polyether-1. Butylene Glycol, PEG-7 Trimethylolpropane Coconut Ether, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citric Acid, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane.Repurchase: Maybe?White cast: 2.5Opinion: This is currently my go-to aside from the Cetaphil. There is a white cast, but as long as I bring this product down my neck, and use the neutrogena sheer zinc on my chest area (this product is too expensive to waste on my decollote), I can make myself look acceptable. I'm not sure this product would be too friendly on darker skin tones though. The UV Shield takes longer than any of the other product's I've tried so far (except the replenix products) to settle into my neck creases, and even so, the settling is comparatively quite minimal. It's not super greasy and doesn't make my T-zone look horrible, and it doesn't dry out my already dry-as-the-sahara lower face region. If I can't find anything better within the same price range by the time I finish up this giant bottle, I'll repurchase this product, but if I manage to find another product with less of a white cast, then I'll probably ditch this one. I try to intersperse my use of this with my Replenix spray just to make that last a little longer because it is a more expensive product. This is also the sunscreen I use to reapply over my Replenix spray if I’m going to be out all day, so long as I’m not excessively perspiring or doing anything water related.5) EltaMD UV SportPrice: $23Volume: 3 ozPrice / ounce: $7.67/ozType: CombinationIngredients: Zinc Oxide 9%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%, Bees Wax, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Purified Water, Sodium Chloride, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane.Repurchase: NoWhite cast: 4Opinion: So I'm pretty sure this would break me out terribly if I tried to use this as a daily sunscreen. I currently only use it for working out/hiking/doing something where my appearance doesn't matter at all because this stuff is really greasy and really white. It has the same amount of zinc as the UV shield, but looks 10 times worse. It settles into neck creases very easily as well. As a sports sunscreen, it does stay on quite well. It does it's job, it's just really ugly.6) EltaMD UV ClearPrice: $34.50 (managed to get it on sale for $28 when dermstore was running an EltaMD sale)Volume: 1.7 ozPrice / ounce: $18.82/ozType: CombinationIngredients: 9.0% Zinc Oxide, 7.5% Octinoxate, Purified Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Niacinamide, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Butylene Glycol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polyisobutene, PEG-7 Trimethylolpropane Coconut Ether, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Lactic Acid, Oleth-3 Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Octyl Stearate, Iron Oxides, Triethoxycaprylylsilane.Repurchase: NoWhite cast: 2Opinion: I’m still in sticker shock with that price tag, and it’s the only reason I’m not sure if I would purchase this again, esp for a combination sunscreen. It seems like a nice sunscreen, but I haven’t tested this for 2 weeks straight because I don’t want to waste this product on days I don’t actually have to look especially good. I decided to splurge on this product to see what the hype is about, and I get it. If you’re fairer skinned, I’m sure this looks amazing on you. If you’re darker than me, don’t waste your money (because this stuff is a LOT of money for very little product). If you’re around my skin color, you could make it work if you continued with white-cast-y sunscreen products down your neck and chest. This wears beautifully under powder foundation and concealer, so days that I’m wearing makeup are the only days I would bother to use this. I don’t have any other sunscreens that work well with powder foundation, but since I don’t reapply throughout the day when I have this on, I’d much prefer to find a physical sunscreen that works well with my makeup rather than a combo one, esp for the money this costs (I’m not in the sun much, but I do walk to and from school/work and there are windows around me during the day). I’d like to try the Bare Escentuals Prep step in the future for this purpose. I can’t comment on whether or not this settles into neck wrinkles because I’m not about to waste such an expensive product on my neck and chest. All in all, it’s a good sunscreen, it’s just too expensive for me to splurge on again.7) Jack Black Sun GuardPrice: $21Volume: 4 ozPrice / ounce: $5.25/ozType: CombinationIngredients: * Zinc Oxide 8%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 3.0%, Artemisia Ubelliformis Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Buddleja Davidii Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower Extract, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Leontopodium Alpinum (Edelweiss) Extract, Peucedanum Ostruthium Leaf Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Retinyl Palmitate, Sodium Chloride, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Water.Repurchase: YesWhite cast: 2.5Opinion: This is the least white-cast-y of the under $10/oz combination sunscreens I have found, especially considering that this is a sports sunscreen. It is, however, very, very VERY, silicone-y, and if you're sensitive to silicones (I suspect I might be), stay away from this product. I noticed a few CCs coming up when using this as my daily sunscreen for 3 weeks straight, but there might have been other confounding factors (diet, travel) during that time that could have swayed this. I haven't tested it again as a daily sunscreen since, because I've found better options for daily wear, but I'm loving it as my sports sunscreen! I'm not ashamed of leaving the house with nothing but this on, however, you will get a slightly greasy, or "dewy" finish with it. The white cast looks pretty ok on me if I follow the sunscreen all the way down my neck and chest. It will eventually settle into neck wrinkles/creases, but not nearly as quickly as the ELtaMD UV lotion or UV sport. If you have a drier skintype and are not sensitive to silicones, you might love this. I can't say I'm completely in love with it, but I do like it very much, and I will repurchase this as my water-resistant sunscreen to wear when working out/hiking/beach days/etc.8) Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Dry Touch SPF 50 for FacePrice: $11Volume: 2 ozPrice / ounce: $5.50Type: PhysicalIngredients:Repurchase:YesWhite cast: 4.5Opinion:* This wasn't opaque white, but it is white enough that I will never wear this on my face again. I only tested it out on my face for one day, and that was more than enough. However, I will still repurchase this sunscreen, because I find it's perfect for my chest right up to where my shirt is (basically, all the visible area above the neckline of my shirt) when I'm wearing a combo sunscreen on my face (mainly to save money b/c this sunscreen is cheaper than UV shield). I often use the same sunscreen on my face and neck, purely because I hate sunscreen settling into my neck creases (this sunscreen DEFINITELY settles into my neck creases). My skin tone on my body is very very warm (really, really yellow toned), but I do have some redness on my cheeks. Somehow, when I put a sunscreen with a minor white cast on my face vs neck and body, it ends up looking way ashier/whiter/cooler toned on my face than any other part of my neck/chest with the same product on. So I prefer the product I use on my chest to have a little more of a white cast to it to balance out the resulting cool tone that my facial sunscreen imparts, and this is my favorite sunscreen for this. I'll be purchasing the body version of this next time, as opposed to the face, to save a little money.9) Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 55Price: $11Volume: 4 ozPrice / ounce: $2.75Type: ChemicalIngredients: Avobenzone (3%), Homosalate (10%), Octisalate (5%), Octocrylene (2.8%), Oxybenzone (6%), Behenyl Alcohol,BHT,Butyloctyl Salicylate,Caprylyl Methicone,Diethylhexyl 2,6-Naphthalate,Dimethicone,Disodium EDTA,Ethylhexyl Stearate,Ethylhexylglycerin,Ethylparaben,Fragrance,Glyceryl Stearate,Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate,Methylparaben,PEG-100 Stearate,Phenoxyethanol,Propylparaben,Slim,Sodium Polyacrylate,Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer,Trideceth-6,Trimethylsiloxysilicate,VP/Hexadecene Copolymer,Water,Xanthan Gum.Repurchase: NoWhite cast: 4Opinion: 1) HOLY CRAP THIS THING BURNS 2) Why the heck does a chemical sunscreen have a white cast this terrible? -- So after experiencing the hell that is this product, I learned that I am very sensitive to oxybenzone. My skin burned like nobody's business. I tried to keep it on for 15 minutes to see if the white cast would go away, but it didn't, and the stinging only marginally died down during this time. I can't provide any review beyond the stinging and the white cast, because I washed it off as soon as I hit the 15 minute mark on this product.10) Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid-Lotion SPF 30Price: $10Volume:3 ozPrice / ounce: $3.33Type: ChemicalIngredients: Avobenzone (2.5%), Homosalate (5%), Octisalate (4%), Octocrylene (3%), Oxybenzone (4%). Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Dimethicone, Silica, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Steareth-100, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Steareth-2, Dimethicone, Chlorphenesin, Polyester-7, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Bisabolol, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Acrylates/Dimethicone Copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Diethylhexyl 2,6-Naphthalate, BHT, Xanthan Gum, Mannan, Capryloyl Glycine, Trideceth-6, Sarcosine, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Cedrus Atlantica Bark Extract.Repurchase: NoWhite cast: 1Opinion: This product burned less than the dry touch (less oxybenzone), but it still burned. Trying out this product confirmed, for me, that oxybenzone was the ingredient my skin can't tolerate. The burning on this one went away after a while. I wore this sunscreen one day to a pool party on my face, arms, and legs (I figured I'd just bring one product to make life easier), and it made the eczema on my arms flare like nobody's business. I never used this product again.11) La Roche Posay Athelios Clear Skin Dry Touch SunscreenPrice:$ 20Volume: 1.7 ozPrice / ounce: $11.76/ozType: ChemicalIngredients:Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 15%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 7%, Water, Silica, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Styrene/acrylates Copolymer, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Nylon-12, PEG-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Perlite, Beeswax, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-8 Laurate, Behenyl Alcohol, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Chlorphenesin, P-anisic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Disodium EDTA, Arachidyl Alcohol, Diethylhexyl Syringylidenemalonate, Propylene Glycol, Cassia Alata Leaf Extract, Maltodextrin, Stearyl Alcohol, T-butyl Alcohol, Caprylic/capric Triglyceride.Repurchase: NoWhite cast: 4Opinion: WHY THE HELL DO ALL THESE CHEMICAL SUNSCREENS LEAVE A WHITE CAST?! DON'T THEY KNOW WE ALREADY HAVE PHYSICAL SUNSCREENS FOR THAT?! The white cast is STRONG on this one. On the plus side, this didn't burn my skin (no oxybenzone!), but I can never make it look decent on its own. I've now begun using a tiny bit of it it over my cetaphil spf for some added protection. After I've let my cetaphil sink in for 15-20 minutes, I'll take a small pea sized amount of this product, dot it around in small dots all over my face, and rub it in. A light layer doesn't seem to make me look too bad, but that's obviously not enough protection on its own. On the plus side though, this does help keep my skin more matte.12) Bare Republic Mineral Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30Price: $15Volume: 1.7 ozPrice / ounce: $8.83/ozType: PhysicalIngredients: Titanium Dioxide- 3.2%, Zinc Oxide- 1.7% , Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Alcohol, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Algae Extract, Allyl Heptanoate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dodecane, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Gamma Decalactone, Gamma Octalactone, Gamma- Nonalactone, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Heliotropine, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Isopropyl Myristate, Polyamide-5, Polysilicone-11, Propylene Carbonate, Raspberry Ketone, Silica, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Triethyl Citrate, Vanillin *Certified Organic IngredientsRepurchase: NoWhite cast: 3Opinion: This product smells like fruit loops and I couldn’t bring myself to put it on my face. It has now become my very expensive chest/shoulder sunscreen. I saw a glowing review about this product here on SCA once, and I bought it on a whim at Target one day with high hopes. It’s very oily and simultaneously very silicone-y, and the texture is just weird to me. It’s a weird product to describe, so I don’t have much else to say about it other than that I really really don’t like it.13) Replenix Sheer Physical Sun Cream SPF 50Price: $32 (but you can buy it for $26 on dermstore with a discount code)Volume: 2 ozPrice / ounce: $16/ozType: PhysicalIngredients: 13.75% Zinc Oxide, Acrylates Crosspolymer-4, Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Biotin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Polyphenols, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteth-10 Phosphate, CetylPEG/PPG 10/1 Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dicetyl Phosphate, Disodium EDTA, Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract, Glyceryl Isostearate, Lauryl PEG/PPG-18/18 Methicone, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Phenoxyethanol, Phospholipids, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Potassium Hydroxide, Purified Water, Retinyl Palmitate, Resveratrol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q-10), Xanthan GumRepurchase: YesWhite cast: 1.5, but it's weird, please read on.Opinion: I bought this product because I saw reviews raving that there is no white cast. If you are dark-skinned, there is absolutely a white cast, but it's weird. My skin didn't look obviously white, but it did look a heck of a lot cooler in tone/ashier without seeing any visible whiteness. Without makeup, it looked ok in some lights, and atrocious in others. My skin looked quite off in every picture I ever took with this sunscreen on (without flash, just in natural light). I labeled the white cast as a 1.5, even though it's not really a "white-cast," but just an "ashy-cast?" Again, cast on this product is just weird. This product also feels quite heavy on the skin, but dries down semi-matte and doesn't look heavy on the skin. The finish is slightly tacky, and if you try patting on powder foundation with a brush, it will come off on the brush, but it's the first product that didn't feel like it was coming off when I applied liquid foundation with a beauty blender. Like I said, this is a weird one. I will continue to repurchase this, however, because I LOVE the way it works with my liquid foundation! This is mainly going to be a special occasion sunscreen that I wear to outdoor events that require me to wear a full face of makeup with liquid foundation, or for days when I’ll be outside a lot and I’m afraid I won’t have a chance to reapply regularly. My liquid foundation of choice is Estee Lauder Double Wear, and it stayed on like a dream over this sunscreen! Keeping in mind that this sunscreen is just kind of weird on its own, I absolutely LOVE this under makeup. I wore it to Disneyland and Universal studios a few weeks ago, and hardly tanned at al with it (I tan super duper easily no matter what I do), so I can testify that this stuff stays on and works!14) Replenix Sheer Physical Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50 + (spray) [THIS IS WHAT BROWN GIRL DREAMS ARE MADE OF]Price: $40 (but you can buy it for $31 on dermstore with a discount code)Volume: 4 ozPrice / ounce: $10/ozType: PhysicalIngredients: Zinc Oxide 12%, Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Biotin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Polyphenols, Cetyl PEG/PPG 10/1 Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract, Glyceryl Isostearate, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Purified Water, Resveratrol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q-10).Repurchase: YesWhite cast: 0!!!! Like actually 0!!!!Opinion: If you are a darker skinned girl looking for a 100% physical sunscreen, THIS IS IT! I tried this on my friend who’s an NC45, and it didn’t cause a white cast on her either, and I expect this will work well on skintones darker than that too! Twelve spritzes makes 1/4 teaspoon. The only somewhat major downside, though, is that this takes a long time to dry down. I’m talking like 30 minutes of dry down time if you’re using the full ¼ teaspoon at once. And because it’s so liquidy, every 10 minutes or so, you’ll have to redistribute the product and make sure it’s not clumping up on any baby hairs. I’m willing to deal with that for a physical sunscreen that looks like nothing on my skin, but it’s just not great for those super rushed mornings where you need to be out of the door. It’s not a cheap sunscreen, but it’s certainly not as expensive as you can get. The finish is demi-matte, and this stuff really stays on so you need an oil cleanser / double cleanse to wash your face at night. It didn’t work great under my liquid foundation, but truthfully, I didn’t really test that out as well as I could have. My intent was to wear this product more on my makeup-free days. All in all, I’m in love with this product, and I will continue to repurchase it.*Edited for formatting
