Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin loves honey. It does not care if it is raw and thick or thin and filtered; it makes it glowy, soft, tones the pimples down and fades my red marks. But I forgot about it and discovered that benzoyl peroxide is what keeps me 99% clear after trying out so many things. And I only use it for 5 to 30 minutes before rinsing it all out, so that it does not interact with my routine. After that, I can slather my moisturizer freely without it balling up/ not soaking in and without worrying about getting BP on my eyes, lips on top of it bleaching all of my stuff.I remembered that last year I used to put one part of honey to two parts of my aloe vera based toner (Babaria brand, if it matters) in a separate bottle. I would then apply it to my face with a cotton ball before bed. It was a little sticky but not nearly as much as a honey face mask. I could sleep without worrying about waking up with my face glued to the pillow and insects coming for me (I live in a very “green” area. If I heat up something sweet all of the insects come by to say hi lol). When I finished the toner I would mix it with some Nivea in the white tub and it would work just as well. My acne was a lot better but what I liked most was what it did to my complexion. And it was way more practical than using it as a face mask. Also, because of the stickiness, I found that rubbing pure honey was a bit irritating for my skin.I don’t advise using it under foundation/powder because every time I tried it balled up and was very sticky, it made my skin look flaky for some reason. The best time for me is before bedtime or at least not under makeup.Today I thought I would use honey because it’s been a long time. I mixed one teaspoon of it with a teaspoon and a half of my moisturizer (allantoin, vitamin e and sweet almond oil based, pharmaceutical, if that matters) and put it in an empty small jar. It mixed perfectly, and applies smoothly on my face. Dries into a dewy finish but not greasy looking, the stickiness is minimal. It’s been two hours and my face already looks soothed.I’ve never had any problem with it going bad when mixed with commercial products; I think they contain enough preservatives so it does not really oxidize. I only mix enough to last me a few weeks. It does not matter if it is raw and thick, it will eventually dissolve in a toner and it will mix with moisturizer (I mix with a cotton bud or my fingers). For me, this has been the best way to enjoy some honey infused skincare without the tackiness/texture problem and I can let it do its magic for hours.
