Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi SCA I'm an ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) in Australia. I've found SCA incredibly helpful in making my own routine for my own sensitive combination skin so thank you all very much. The question I get asked multiple times each day by my patients is what would I recommend as an eye cream or treatment for the sensitive skin around their eyes. The biggest concerns are puffiness and fine lines. I try my best in all aspects of my practice to be very evidence based as this is what I was taught at medical school. In general, with eyecare, I have learnt a lot from this forum and make sure that my patients are aware of hydration, diet, thyroid levels and allergies to optimise their skincare around their eyes but I also have learned that there are a few products that can help further. These include topical caffeine for puffiness and retinol and sunscreen for fine lines. Otherwise, I believe botox is the only other product with a good deal of evidence for preventing and reducing fine lines.Being asked about the best skincare to use around the eyes has led me to do a lot of research into different eyecare products. Personally, I like The Ordinary Caffeine solution as well as both The Ordinary Retinoid solution and Indeed Labs Vitamin C solution. I like Dermalogica Oil Free Matte sunscreen for my face as I can be quite oily. A lot of patients would like to have one or two simple products to use around their eyes that I would recommend and I am now starting the process of producing one.I would greatly like the help of SCA to give me advice about the following queries: 1) I currently am in favour of making a daytime eye cream with Caffeine for puffiness and a sunscreen as well as a night time eye cream with a retinol product. Do you think this is a good combination that you would be interested in? 2) As a man I am less certain about whether to incorporate sunscreen into the daytime eyecream as I am not sure if applying makeup or a primer over it would work or leave skin too greasy. 3) Are there any other active ingredients other than caffeine and retinol that are evidence based to be helpful and that you'd like to see included into either a daytime or night time eye cream? 4) What kind of base would you most like to have in an eye cream. I like the dropper application of The Ordinary products but would also like something moisturising so that I can use one simple product especially at night. I would therefore prefer them to be more of a thicker cream rather than a solution. Would you feel the same or prefer something lighter? 5) Do you think it would be better to have a daytime eye cream and a night time eye cream and a separate sunscreen so they can be layered more easily with makeup?Thank you so very much. SCA has helped me so much and I hope you will help me make this product for my patients and perhaps help all of you in the future too. It would be quite cool if all the input from SCA led to an amazing product for eyecare.
