Beauty Tips For Body Care
Recently, I have seen a lot of Instagram photos of people wearing under eye patches. What do you guys think of these? Have you tried them? If you have, what brand did you use? Where did you buy them? Did you see any results?

[Routine Help] Ordering Vitamin C/BHA/AHA/Tretinoin (all the actives!)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Edit: here are pics: http://imgur.com/a/pUGm0yZHi all!So, my skin texture has improved a lot, pores have gotten smaller, fine lines minimized, etc., but I'm still suffering a good amount of acne on my chin and nose area. I feel it's a problem of having too many actives in my routine so I plan to go cold turkey for a bit, see if that helps. BUT, I need to reorder things in my routine.Skin Type: DrySkin Concerns:SF's on nose and chinhormonal acnerecurring acne along nose and chin, with occasional zit on cheek (all white-heads)blackheads on nose (which go away when I use my BHA and peels)Current Products:Banila Cleansing Balm (only used when taking off makeup)Laneige Foam Cleanser Moisture.025% TretinoinCOSRx BHA Blackhead Power LiquidCOSRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power EssenceThe Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling SolutionFresh's Black Tea Firming Overnight MaskTimeless 20% Vitamin C + E-Ferulic AcidLa Roche-Posay Sunscreen** I've been using all these products for a while now (Tretinoin for 8 months, though I used it for a year back in 2015/16, just couldn't fulfill my prescription again until 2018). Have not introduced anything new except the Peeling Solution back in June.My AM routine:Rinse with waterVitamin 20% Vitamin C + E-Ferulic AcidCOSRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power EssenceSunscreenMy PM routine:Cleansing Balm (if makeup)Laneige Foam Cleanser, physical exfoliate with konjac spongeEither COSRx BHA OR TretinoinCOSRx Advanced Snail 96 MucinFresh Black Tea MaskOnce a week, I'll cut out all actives for the day and do the The Ordinary AHA/BHA Peeling Solution. This makes a HUGE difference on my pores and skin texture.Plans: I think I'll be dropping the Advanced Snail 96 Mucin because while it does moisturize, I think it's clogging my nose a bit. I just purchased a Hyaluronic Toner that's currently on the way, and I'm hoping that can replace Snail 96 in my routine. The Fresh Black Tea Mask is my HG --> it moisturizes SO WELL, and my skin seems to love it. My skin looks noticeably fresher on days I use it than I don't.Help: I need help reordering my actives. I've tried reading other posts on here, but I'm getting confused. Some say that I should do the tretinoin before my BHA, but other posts say they shouldn't be on the same day? And then I read I should wait 30 minutes before applying moisturizer after tretinoin, but then others say moisturizing isn't necessary? I'm just confused...

[Research] A couple of studies using ALA 5% twice-daily (rather than once 2/week like The Ordinary recommends)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
(That should just say 2/week, the 'once' is a mistake)Came across this:"In one study published by the British Journal of Dermatology, 33 middle-aged women were treated twice daily for 12 weeks—half the face with a 5% ALA cream, the other half with a control cream. Skin quality improved significantly—by about 50%--in terms of smoothness and wrinkle reduction." https://www.truthinaging.com/review/what-is-it-alpha-lipoic-acid - study referred to is https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14616378And a similar one with 20 subjects: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27873449Obviously these are small studies but they're both using 5% twice a day rather than twice a week. Some people find TO's 5% ALA sensitising and would have no interest in using it more often. But some people don't find it irritating at all and wonder why they're asked to use it so infrequently. I'm wondering if, like AHAs or retinol, it's okay to use it more often if your skin can handle it? And people should start out infrequently and then adjust as they figure out the effects? It's possible that TO's is 'stronger' than the cream because it's in a propanediol base (a penetration enhancer).I don't really have a conclusion here - I just found it interesting. If anyone can weigh in on why the huge discrepancy between TO's instructions and these studies, I'd be keen to hear it.(And obviously: be careful, don't stop following the instructions on your skincare just because of a random redditor)

[Skin Concerns] Spearmint tea drinkers and evening primrose supplement users: what has your experience been in using them to treat hormonal acne? If you use both, do you prefer one over the other?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys! I've been looking at ways to treat my breakouts during my period -- my skin is pretty clear now thanks to the use of retinoids and a consistent skincare routine but I always break out during my period. I've been reading up on spearmint tea and evening primrose oil supplements to treat hormonal acne but I'm conflicted on which option to start with first and would like to hear about other people's experiences in using spearmint tea and evening primrose oil.Did it work for you? Did your skin react terribly? I want to know! Thanks everyone!EDIT: I've never taken/ currently don't take birth control and don't plan to while drinking the tea or taking the supplements. I also don't plan to use these at the same time because I think that might be too much.

[Product question] Do you think CeraVe Moisturizing cream for malassezia/ fungal acne is a good choice?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I found out I have fungal acne thanks to reddit and skincare science website and I'm putting together a routine and I need to know if cerave worked for you. Here's the products I use :Cleanser - Simple kind to skin refreshing facial wash and la roch posay effaclar sometimes.Sunscreen - Biore perfect face milk.Moisturizer - ? Right now I use hydroboost by Neutrogena .Treatments - Sulfur 7 % soap once a day, at night and I use it as a mask letting sit on my face for 10- 15 minutes and Azelaic acid spot treatment.Ointment - once a week Aquaphor.I also have other stuff like bha, aha, niacinamide, bp but I'm recovering skin barrier right now and I know that bp for example wouldn't be good for malassezia.

[PSA] The 6 fragrance, irritant, and sensitizer free essences at Sephora
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello again ScA! I'm back with a list of 6 essences that are for sale at Sephora that should be great for people with very sensitive skin. I've been around for a few posts now, working through each skin care category and compiling a list of products that are free of fragrance, known irritants, and known sensitizers. I don't want to sound like a broken record, so if you haven't seen me around on this subreddit yet, you can read a little more about my background and the analysis process on my posts about makeup removers, cleansers, and toners.Unfortunately, most of these items are ridiculously pricey. Trust me, I'm as disappointed as you are; please don't down vote the messenger!*pH levels were tested with pH strips. Skin's pH is around 5.5 for reference.SK-II Ultimate Revival Essence - $305 for 5.07 Oz (lolz) - pH 6Amorepacific Vintage Single Extract Essence - $145 for 4.05 Oz - pH 5Tatcha The Essence Plumping Skin Softener - $95 for 5.1 Oz - pH 6Estee Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion - $98 for 5 Oz - pH 6SK-II Facial Treatment Essence - $179 for 5.4 Oz - pH 6Boscia Sake Treatment Water - $46 for 1.85 Oz - pH 5Have any of you ever tried any of these? I'd love to know your thoughts, or you could leave a review of the product for others to reference on my website here! I would also appreciate you recommending any brands or retailers that might have less expensive options I could analyze, because wow are these expensive.Thank you and have a nice Sunday =)

[Acne] Finally found my holy grail product!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So after roughly 9 months of trial and error, I think I’ve finally found the solution to my skinMy skin is incredibly oily, but at first thought it was dehydrated since it “felt dry” underneath. Thats when I realised the tons of CC’s were what was making my skin feel rough. Most of my acne are CC’s turning into tiny pustules. I had the occasional cyst but this was rare. I’m thankful they are small but I had a shiton of them. Like they were basically all over my face.As I originally thought my skin was dehydrated I used soooo many hydrating products. This made my CC’s worse and made me look even greasier. Due to people constantly saying not to exfoliate I didn’t until I gave in and tried it out.I noticed areas where I flaked were areas where I had recent breakouts. First I thought I had Seb derm but it turns out I flaked a lot because I had a shiton of breakouts constantly. The areas that I thoroughly got rid of the dead skin flakes had significantly less breakouts. So I got Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion 1.0. I didn’t go for the clarifying lotion 2 since it contains alcohol and have used it before and it was quite irritating. The Lotion 1.0 didn’t sting at all and has 0.5 % salicylic acid. It gets rid of all of my skin flakes and overall cleans my face incredibly well. My reddish flaky spots are now disappearing and my CC’s are shrinking. I am also getting significantly less breakouts! My skin is still oily though. It just tells me this is my normal skin type. People on this sub seem to think that oily=dehydrated. Not always, people can just have naturally oily skin no matter what. Obviously don’t be incredibly harsh on your skin as this does lead to more oil from experience. Remember to moisturise too!

[Product Question] I'm looking to treat my son by buying him some nice mens care stuff for his bathroom.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I want to get my son a nice bathroom system that covers things like shampoo, scalp care, face wash, body soap, Etc. I kinda want to do it in the vein of a gift set but I also want it to be stuff that is actually good for your skin and not just a bunch of crap in a basket. If that makes sense. In fact it doesn't have to come in a basket, I can put in a basket.I'm just a basic Irish Spring and Head & Shoulders kind of guy, I use both of those all year-round and do just fine, so I have no idea what is good versus what is trendy nor what's just gloop. But I noticed that he likes to experiment with different shampoos and things like Biore, and different deodorants, some other, nicer stuff. He doesn't buy a lot of it and doesn't have much cash often, I just notice once in a while he has something nice on the counter, so I'd like to get him a rig that he'd like but would probably never buy for hisself.Anyways he has slightly oily skin and hair with mild acne and an under productive beard. If anyone would care to direct me towards some mens' product lines I might could gift him with, let me know.Special thanks to /u/scumteam14

If anyone would care to direct me towards some mens' product lines I might could gift him with, let me know.Special thanks to /u/scumteam14

[Acne] Remember to clean your sunglasses
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My glasses happen to touch my cheeks if I smiled while wearing them. So I noticed some tiny pimples where the sunglasses touch them. Also on my temples from putting them on and taking them off. I usually forget to clean them but I started noticing some difference after I started to clean them regularly. I'm trying to remind myself every day to do that. It's such an important task to do that we usually tend to forget. So I'm trying to remind myself by posting this here.

I had a pimple forming on my cheek. As soon as I noticed it and I iced it for a good 3-5 minutes. This morning, it's literally gone. I have some slight redness around the area where I iced (probably iced it a bit to long) but the pimple is completely flat and no PIE! I wish I knew about this sooner!!

[Routine help] I think using hair removal cream has darkened the skin on my upper lip. There are so many choices out there-can anyone suggests the best? The irony - trying to remove my mo got me a permanent mo :(
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So yeah - I thought the skin darkening was melasma but now I think it could be from the hair removal cream.I can get most The Ordinary products in Australia- so I am thinking their Vitamin C? Or the Lactic Acid? The issue is I want to introduce only one product at a time- so any recommendations on which to buy first?I am thinking to use the new product in the morning and the retinol at night? I have retinol at home already (stevia-a)Or perhaps someone can suggest a more suitable product to try first? It doesn't have to be The Ordinary I just haven't tried them yet and they are so affordable!I am lost and would appreciate any advice :)

[misc] how long does it take for your skin to react badly to a food?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I've been looking into recently, and am very interested in the correlation between diet and skin. I see a lot of information that states that poor diet choices can cause acne to flare up and skin to become inflamed etc, this makes sense to me.Does anyone know how long actually it takes for your skin to mess up from food? Say someone ate dairy how long would it take for their skin to causw inflammation and cause spots, or someone ate something really greasy how long would it take for this to have an effect on the skin..Does anyone have any answers to this or do we still not have the research for this?I for one think that one of the biggest causes of acne personally is from nutrition

[Misc] Cleaners - HG status?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I used to feel pretty indifferent about cleansers, until I started using the Heimish All Clean Balm as a first cleaner, and I immediately knew it was "the one". My skin felt soft, not stripped, it removes everything and even seems to help minimize SFs.I've never felt that way about a second cleanser, though. I've used both Cerave Foaming and Hydrating, the COSRX cleanser, and I'm just running out of my Cetaphil (can't remember which one, specifically). Each one, I feel completely indifferent. Nothing has wowed me.For reference, my skin is oily, a bit acne prone, and I use Differin, which can make my skin dry and flaky if I'm over enthusiastic with it.So, my question is this - how did you know when a cleanser was your HG?

[routine help] scars and cysts on back
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So before I found this forum, I just washed my face with whatever drugstore acne wash (so mostly Salicylic acid products) and that did nothing for my acne (hormonal acne from Hashimoto's thyroiditis). After playing scientist with my face, I have deduced that I have dehydrated oily skin that becomes normal the more I use moisturizer. I have also deduced PEG-100 sterate and fragrances agravate my sensitive skin, causing redness and burning.AM- Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser, vanicream moisturizer, sunscreen through the dayPM- same as morning, go heavy with the vanicream, then dot 10% benzoyl peroxide.I love these products for my face. A dermatologist told me once that nothing topical would work and I would have to start accutane, but the benzoyl peroxide is making a noticeable difference. But putting stuff on your back can be awkward, and I'm not sure how to sleep with treatments on unless I covered it with a bandaid?I will probably use benzoyl peroxide to treat active cysts, but what do you like to use for scaring on sensitive skin? I appreciate any and all help!

[Review] finally perfected my routine!!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I found this sub about two years ago and it seems like I’ve tried everything. I usually break out on my chin and my skin scars pretty easily...it seemed to be mostly hormonal but I couldn’t find anything to help it stop. Once the active acne subsided, the scars would last until the next round of pimples came and it was a continuous cycle.UNTIL....I discovered that less is more with the amount of products I put on my face. It seemed almost overnight that my skin cleared up and the acne and scars have faded and not returned. It’s almost too good to be true.I attribute it to two products: Sunday Riley Good Genes and Skinceuticals Phloretin CF (vitamin C serum). In the morning, I cleanse with Cosrx good morning pH cleanser, tone with thayera witch hazel and then pat on four drops of Phloretin. It’s a bit pricey but I was ready to try anything. It has the consistency of water but dries really fast (20 seconds) and it leaves just a tiny tacky feeling that I actually kind of like because it makes my skin feel bouncy. I don’t use any moisturizer on top of it but it doesn’t pill under any products or sunscreen which is good. The fading so so dramatic. I’ve always been skeptical about products people rave about because none of them have ever had that “overnight” fix, but I’ve never seen results like this before. Scars from months ago faded within a weeks use and the blotchy redness was completely gone. Basically it’s a miracle worker and I can’t rave about it enough. The Sunday Riley Good Genes is a perfect evening complement to the work the Phloretin does during the morning. It’s moisturizing and gives my skin a baby soft glow without stripping it of moisture. It also doesn’t pill. I’ve noticed a huge difference in the smoothness of my complexion, the bounciness of my skin, and a big decrease in the sebaceous filaments around my nose. I double cleanse with the Burt’s Bees oil cleanse and then the Cosrx one, tone with witch hazel, spread a thin layer of the Good Genes over my face and then add a layer of Bio Oil and that’s it.I used to use six to seven products at night and three to four in the morning and I never got it right. Now I use one serum during the day and one acid treatment at night and I’ve never been happier with the results. Less is more!!

[Review] Hydrafacial.. personal experience
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I had the Hydrafacial done. I saw a bunch of Youtubers doing them, so I wanted to see what the hype was about. It was $195 for a treatment. I have A LOT of clogged pores, like if you squeezed anywhere on my face, you could probably extract a sebum plug. It's weird. You probably couldn't tell just looking at me. I deal with skin-picking, so it is great to be clogged lol, but also my skin is pale, so any picking stands out. I used to have cystic acne, but it calmed down and I rarely break out now. I deal with red marks left over from old acne. I have pock marks too that I fill with filler. She first did some suction with glycolic and lactic acid. Felt like nothing. Wish it lasted longer. No tingling or burning, thank goodness. I opted out of the salicylic acid treatment because my skin gets easily irritated by that. She then steamed my face and did manual extractions, which I hate. I had a facial once and every stinking pore they extracted turned into a little white head. Ugh.Of course, it was painful to get your face squeezed 50 times. After that, she used a red and blue light on my face to calm it down. Oddly enough, the red light felt like nothing, but the blue light felt strangely warm. She did one more round of suction, but with antioxidants in it for a total of 2 suction rounds. She included a calming mask also, which I pray does not break me out. She put on a calming mask, lotion, hyaluronic acid, and SPF on my face. Of course, I check the ingredients of one of the products and it had petroleum in it. Needless to say, I went home and removed all the skincare items quickly. HA actually breaks me out and one esthetician told me the molecules are too big for my pores (?).How does my skin look immediately after? It is just speckled with red dots from the extractions. It isn't bright red all over due to the peel like I worried about. I have a "strawberry" nose, which just means it has a ton of sebaceous filaments in it and they're still there, sadly. She showed me the dirty water from the procedure and it reminded me of carpet cleaner water lol. She said I should come back once a month. I'm good with that.. if it doesn't break me out. Please say a prayer to the skincare gods that I don't break out from this!!

[Personal] My skin was just fine until I came across this sub.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is probably going to get downvoted, but I need to vent a bit. My skin was always quite clear, maybe a little bit dry, occasional pimple or two, but nothing out of control. This sub made me think my skin is not good enough, I thought it needs to be healthier and with glow, so I hopped on the train of this so called addiction. I don't know what got into me, but my policy about cosmetics has always been to use as few products as possible. I know that it's my fault that I started to experiment on my skin and I deeply regret it, because I fucked up my skin. So my advice to newbies, who are browsing this sub and thinking they need to change something about what they currently do, please rethink, if you really need it. Don't make the same mistake as I did. Don't change stuff that works because you get caught up in some kind of skin care hype.

[Acne] Only thing that’s cleared my acne in 10+ years is a course of Augmentin (antibiotic)...what can I learn regarding my acne with that info?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don’t get sick much but I am a bit susceptible to sinus problems and have had a few ear infections over the past decade (I’m 25 now, acne started in high school). When that happens and it gets bad I’ve gone to the doctor for a 10-14 day course of Augmentin (amoxicillin / clavulanic acid)...for the 10-14 days, I don’t get new acne and my existing acne clears up. This is the only thing that’s ever cleared me up...and I’ve tried A LOT of stuff...Is there anything that can be garnered about the type of acne I have based on this info, or how I should go about replicating whatever the Augmentin is doing that works? Any information or ideas y’all can help me with would be great...I’ve tried seemingly everything! And for the record, I’ve seen many other people on the Internet with similar stories regarding Augmentin.Btw, I probably will go a dermatologist with this info in the next week or two. This most recent round of Augmentin confirmed it for me. Still would like to get Reddit’s opinion first!

[Product Question] [Acne] Frustrating of searching for acne friendly sunscreen. MyChelle seems to be my last hope. Does anybody know how is it?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Acne/oily. I've bought so many sunscreens and it seems like articles and pharmacies don't know what they're talking about as they are all greasy/clog poring and it makes me really frustrated so I just go out without putting any :(Next week I'm going to be in the sun everyday and it seems like I should really use one.It seems like MyChelle's nude sunscreen is silicone and oil free but i'm no expert and I don't want to spend money on another clog-poring, greasy white casty sunscreen. Does anyone know if it's okay for acne/oily skin, how's the product? Thanks ahead!

[Misc] For anyone who might find it useful I made public my chrome extension that highlights comedogenic ingredients + helps you search products on common beauty sites :)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I use it to paste in ingredients and then it highlights them by comedogenic rating. I know those ratings can come with a grain of salt but if anyone else is interested I put it on the chrome store (its free)! There's also a tab that acts as sort of a bookmark for popular beauty sites - you can search a product name and it will open up new tabs or windows for you, nothing fancy just a side effect of my habit where I tend to scour those sites for reviews before I purchase anything :DI hope this post isn't inappropriate since it is my own work, but I just wanted to share in case someone actually finds it useful!Link to the chrome extension!

[Skin concerns] Dry Eyelids
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I noticed that the past 1-2 weeks my eyelids have been weirdly dry, like dry, rough, flakey skin. Has anyone experienced this before and know how to fix it? I use witch hazel toner, yes tomatoes charcoal acne face wash, and l'oreal hydra genius moisturizer for oily skin. I use yes tomatoes in the shower and the other two outside of the shower (I avoid my eyes when using these two). I tried putting on the moisturizer on my eyes and it burned like crazy.

[Routine Help] What product can replace The Ordinary's Marine Hyaluronics?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
With all the controversy surrounding DECIEM back in April, I no longer want to buy products from The Ordinary. Now that the ones I already have are running out, I need to replace them. However, I have absolutely no clue as to what I could replace my Marine Hyaluronics with. My skin is typically combination, but now that it's starting to get colder, my skin is becoming dry. So I need a pretty hydrating... hydrator?Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been struggling with acne since I hit puberty and finally found a routine that works for me around a year ago. My skin was not great but much much better and I was feeling good. Then I tried a new vitamin C serum a few days ago that broke me out and now my skin is back to square one. I just kind of feel hideous now, and it's not just because of the acne. I also have really thin hair that is most likely genetic, back acne scars, ingrown hairs, and discoloration on my body. Idk, at the end of the day after I take off my makeup and look at myself in the mirror I just feel hideous. I'm also so jealous of all the people with clear skin and thick beautiful hair that don't even have to think about it while I'm sitting in a pile of products and still look like crap, lol. Anyways, I know there are much worse things in the world than skin and hair problems, but I just wanted to rant. Does anyone ever feel the same?

[Misc] The most important thing I’ve learned about acne
Beauty Tips For Body Care
IS that regardless of the type of blemish (blackhead, CC, whitehead, papule, pustule, cyst, vellus hair cyst, etc.) it is absolutely NEVER a good idea to touch it, pick at it, squeeze it, extract it — NONE OF THAT STUFF.For me this is simply the case. I don’t know if it’s true that some people are more prone to PIE than others, but I’m realizing more and more how sensitive my skin is in general. The slightest squeeze will leave a red mark that lasts several days, and although I’ve gotten much much better about leaving every little clogged pore alone, I got down the rabbit hole yet again yesterday, and am left today with like four new spots that need healing. It is a shame and a failure every time, and I will literally stand in the mirror touching my face while my conscience is screaming at me not to. Just wanted to say this to you guys for what is probably the millionth time. It’s so hard to not touch, but we have to do it. For me it’s the last step in achieving clear skin. There’s a chance it could end up being that way for you too if you don’t knock the habit. Lots of love and best wishes in your skincare journeys!!! :)

[Misc] Aging is treated like a disease in marketing and It's stupid
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I swear where ever i go there's going to be an advertisement saying ''stay young using this!'' and im so tired of aging being treated as a bad thing. Like can we stop treating something that is inevitable as something avoidable if we ''just do this one thing''?I want to see people being ok and happy with aging and i don't want to see fucking botox being advertised to like 25-30 year olds. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH LOOKING ONES AGE, literally nothing. we need to stop with the idea that women shouldn't age and that men get better with time, we need to stop thinking that we need to smile less because god forbid we get a few lines from enjoying life!!Also what good will looking 30 at 50 do if you spent your entire life up to that point obsessing over staying young?Smile lines and wrinkles are a part of life and should be treated as such and not like some fucking skin disease that need fixing.Well aging not anti aging!

[review] Microneedling with a pro-device. Concerns: open pores, texture, anti-ageing and hairline!!! - Pictures and fa ull review in the post
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Let me tell you I became interested in this sub quite a few months ago when I was lurking the internet on anti-ageing boards and have noticed that my pores have become increasingly enlarged and I even developed two open pores that looked like holes in my face, whereas before my skin was so soft that you could not even detect one pore.https://imgur.com/a/i1AcWP4 - Here is my progress and pictures of the Derminator 2Obviously I became very interested in finding out what could be done on this and I tried the 50 shades of snail technique, which made nothing but break a few of my veins on my face, so i stopped that immediately, thought I'm just going to stick with clay masks, hydrated my face with so much hyaluronic acid and ceramidin cream as possible and also used all sorts of acids, starting with mandelic and ending with AHAs. Some days my pores seemed to calm down and then the very next day they would be visible from the moon as well. This has taken a great toll on my self confidence and have rarely taken any pictures as the texture of my skin is very visible in pictures that are taken from the distance as well.Have read all the posts on the internet that mention pores and success stories and have tried what they advised that worked for them with no avail, until I started to read the general anti-ageing threads as I also had quite a few concerns with my skin texture overall, starting to be saggy, fine wrinkles around all my eye end the top end of my cheeks and in general I saw some people swearing by dermarolling for anti-ageing and a few, very little to ne honest, for pores, and I said, what the hell, let's try that too.Bought myself a dermaroller and started rolling, others started hatin' . Just kidding, have stated rolling, but my face seemed a bit immune to it if that makes sense, I mean I was barely having any signs that I have rolled my face, so started looking into something more professional and strong and I was browsing the internet for dermapens and what not. well, OMG, the price it was up in thousands or the cheapest ones in hundreds, very close to the 4 digit mark and also the replacement heads were extremely expensive. One day right on this sub someone posted their success story, basically looking around 25-27 at 40+ and what I noticed that was different in their treatment and routine was the DERMINATOR 2. They were using the Derminator 2 and I immediately googled it and was surprised of how cheap it is compared to other similar items and just read everything there is on the internet about it for few days, before I was convinced I need to purchase this. And so I did and boy I am glad I did.It is so easy to use, honestly they do not need those long documents on instructions of how to use it, but I understand, they need to get themselves covered from every angle.I first tried to use it at 0.5 mm with the 9 needle head at medium speed, but again, I think I have skin of crocodile because I could not feel anything so i slowly progressed up until 2 mm, same speed with the 9 needle head and that is where I started to feel the pinching and also see the blood. I was extremely happy to see all that redness and small blood spots, as it meant it was working. After I finished my programmer, I cleaned my face with vitamin C ( it hurt a bit, haha ) and was very anxious to see the results. My face was red for the whole day, looked like a very bad sunburn, but it did not sting anymore, just looked very sore, which I could not care less as it was over the weekend, so I did not have to go to work, and I could not believe my eyes the very next day, my hugest open pore, that literally looked like a hole in my face was considerably smaller. I am so happy and so pleased with it just by this aspect that I could not recommend this product more.I am sure that other professional dermapens or dermawhatevers probably would have had the same beneficial results, although the tearing point of this machine is very small, but how can you compare and justify the price point of the Derminator 2 to something that costs in the realm of thousands. I could never afford that and I don;t even have to.And another very happy story: I also use it on my hair as I am using Minoxodil and want to thicken my hair around my fore-head line, well, take a good look at these results.AMAZING.My coworkers at work have already asked me why is my face so glowing, i think they noticed to change in my skin texture but can't just pin it down to what is is that made this drastic change to my face, so i started recommending the device to everyone, even if it's just a simple anti-ageing or any unevenness of the face, or for stretchmarks as that is my next mission.I am more than happy to answer any of your questions. My current routine is only Cleansing and sunscreen +50 for AM and in the evening Ceramidin Cream and loads of Vaseline on top of that.My previous routines were consisting of 6-7 steps, I am just so glad I found the answer to my skin, hopefully it will help others as well.

[Product Question] Using a moisturizer with Retin-A Micro
Beauty Tips For Body Care
There’s lots of information about how to use moisturizers with regular Retin-A, however there isn’t much info on how to use them with Retin-A Micro.Because Retin-A Micro uses microsphere technology to deliver the medication slowly over the course of the night, common methods of moisturizer buffering for regular Retin-A cannot be used.Example: Waiting 30-60 minutes and then applying a moisturizer. This would mean that only the medicine released into the skin for the first 30-60 minutes would be absorbed, and the rest would be mitigated or blocked by the moisturizer applied over it. Normal Retin-A is released into the skin instantly so you don’t have this problem. The other option is to apply a moisturizer first, then apply the Retin-A Micro, in a process called “buffering”, which would seem to be the ideal case except that Skinacea warns against it (without providing an alternative method of applying moisturizer).http://www.skinacea.com/retinoids/use-retinoids-right-part-two.html#.W6m-EBYTGEcMany people choose Retin-A Micro because it’s less irritating than regular Retin-A, but if it cannot be (effectively) used with a moisturizer, then the microsphere benefits are essentially wasted due to the irritation caused by not wearing a moisturizer.Does anyone use Retin-A Micro and also use a moisturizer? What process do you use? For those with more technical/advanced skincare knowledge, what are your thoughts?

[Skin Concerns] 19 y/o already have signs of wrinkles and small cracks on forehead along with small bumps? (Pics)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
When I was young I used to constantly play outside, never wore sunblock and was always getting burnt and tan, mostly on my forehead since it’s so large lol. The results have been constant small bumps on my forehead that hardly ever turn into acne. On top of this I’m getting wrinkles!! I’m only 19 and I’m starting to get wrinkles!!!! The interesting part is the rest of my face is perfectly fine; I have small pores, hardly any black heads and an occasional pimple or two. It almost feels like my forehead doesn’t belong on my face hahaI come on here wondering if there’s any hope for me... I have no clue as to what those bumps could be on my head, and I’m scared I’m going to have an extremely wrinkly forehead by the time I’m thirty! I’m not that clueless about skincare but I’m overwhelmed on where to start on here. My question is is there any products or routines I should start that could help make the small bumps go away, and is there anything that could somehow help with the cracks and wrinkles?Skin background: I have mostly normal/dry skin below my on the lower half of my face, but my forehead tends to get greasy by the end of the dayMy current skincare routine: -On days I don’t exfoliate: Glossier milk jelly cleanser -Every 2-3 days: freeman charcoal and black sugar polishing mask -rose water -cerave moisturizing creammy weird forehead

A few years ago topicals with ingredients that boosted the fat under the skin were popular such as fillume by indeed labs. These were not the same as the the more popular hyluranic acid topical line fillers but instead used certain peptides to boost the actually fat under the skin.I don't think fillume is still in production, does anyone know of any other volumising skin products still available?1 comment

[Research] Sidebar Research Threads - Week 3: Sunscreen
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi there and welcome to the Sidebar Research thread on Sunscreen! This is the third post of the Sidebar Research series! [Product Question] Vegan, cruelty-free dupe of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm making the shift towards using all cruelty-free/vegan products, and my DDMG is left over from before I made this decision, but it's running low. Does anyone know of a good moisturizer I could use to replace this that doesn't test on animals and is vegan? In case this information is relevant, I have very dry/sensitive skin, and my routine is simply CVS Gentle Skin Cleanser and DDMG every morning and night.

[Misc] Anybody else have really oily skin the day after a moisture intensive routine?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Whenever I do a moisture intensive routine at night (for me, that means slathering my skin in hyaluronic acid toner/sheet mask, moisturiser, and vaseline) which I don't usually do because the vaseline is kind of a hassle, I have really oily skin the day afterwards. Of course I clean my skin with a wet towel in the morning, maybe even put on matting powder because I know about the problem, but then I go to work and look into a mirror and suddenly I'm as shiny as I was when I got up. I then try to wipe it off as much as I can with wet toilet paper and it's okay for a while but starts to become oily again after some time. It's really annoying.Anyone else have this problem or knows why that happens?

[Misc] For anyone starting skincare, start with cheaper products..
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I learnt the hard way that you don't need a 10 step 300 dollar skincare regiment and that sometimes the cheaper brands like nive will do you better than some overpriced skincare you friendly neighborhood beauty-guru uses.Learn what yous skin likes in cheaper product so that if you want to invest in more expensive ones, you know what works.( Nothing wrong with expensive products btw I'm just saying that you dont need super expensive skin for good skin )

[Acne] I've been getting this weird acne/cyst thing around my ears for YEARS (5+) that never fully heal and I don't know what to do!!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
https://imgur.com/a/myjeFsr (NSFW - gross ear stuff)What I've done so far:I've went on accutane, solved most of my acne problems.I've tried benzoyl peroxide (up to 10%)Tried washing pillow cases every couple nightsI've been to multiple doctors (3) and they said Accutane might solve it, but we tried it and it DIDN'T work. Now when I go any new doctors, they say the only thing that might work is Accutane...?I've considered surgery, but docs said it will just make it worst. Before I went on Accutane, sometimes it would get inflamed and then get really big with like fluid/puss and then it would drain and then scar over. This doesn't happen anymore. What I believe is the problem is that there are cysts just under the skin level that won't let it fully heal, but only on some parts where I can feel the cyst. Basically it looks like it is a rash and never fully heals and it is driving me mad. I need suggestions!!!!

[Review] Anyone else super underwhelmed by The Ordinary?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I got pretty excited about TO, got Deciem to help me with a routine and ordered a few things (I have pretty normal skin with my major concerns being some closed comedones and seasonal dryness due to the climate I live in). I saw immediate results with the Niacinamide + Zinc and so I ordered several more things to try them out. So far I’m super underwhelmed, if not outright disappointed. The hyaluronic acid pills so badly it’s virtually unwearable. The Argan oil smells so bad it’s 100% unusable. The squalane oil feels disgustingly greasy and doesn’t sink in. I THINK the caffeine eye serum is helping but I’m not totally sure. I’ve yet to try the Mandelic acid and granactive retinoid.Anyone else or just me? I was so excited to try this brand and I’m sad it’s not as great as I hoped. Oh well. People have said to try the Hylamide brand instead but to be honest I’ll probably just go back to sephora and try some samples.

[Review] More product reviews! (The Ordinary, Hada Labo, Sulwhasoo, Neutrogena, Biore & Heritage)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is the third one of these things I've done since I started down the path of skincare and I just wanted to share my experiences with these products for anyone who might be considering trying any of them. :)I should also point out that I've come to the conclusion that my skin is a little too hardy for its own good because I don't have much of anything good to say about most of these, but your mileage may vary. The Ordinary "Buffet". I think this stuff is meant to do all kinds of anti-aging magic and I'd heard/read people sing its praises every which way here, but I personally didn't see any difference in my complexion or wrinkles or anything after using almost the entire bottle. It does go on nicely and plays well with other products as well as cosmetics. Verdict: Meh.Hada Labo Gokujyun Hydrating Lotion. This was recommended to me as a toner to help with wrinkles. I haven't used it for long, but I don't think it really has much of an anti-aging effect (not yet, anyway). However, I really do love this stuff! For those who are familiar with TO's water-based serums, it's thinner than those, but thicker than normal water. It doesn't feel thick or heavy or sticky once applied, doesn't have an odor or fragrance, it works very well with other products as well as makeup and it makes me face feel soft and smooth. A little also goes a long way - a few drops is enough to coat my face and neck. Will definitely be buying this again! Verdict: Thumbs up!Sulwhasoo Renewing Eye Cream. Another recommendation for eye wrinkles from here. Considered one of the "holy grail" products for wrinkles, I was very excited to try this. I've been using it for a few months now and I haven't seen any difference at all. Plus, it smells like parsley. I guess that's the ginseng? Doesn't bother me personally, but I know some folks don't like smelly products. It's a very thick, buttery cream and it does play nice with all my other products, but it didn't work for me as far as renewing my eye lines. If you have wrinkles from lack of moisture/hydration, this stuff might be good for you, but it didn't do crap for me. Verdict: Fail! The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane. Used almost this entire bottle and saw zero difference. In fact, I've seen my wrinkles worsen since using retinol, even when paired with moisturizers. I think my skin is just kind of invincible to anti-aging because I absolutely PILED several retinols on the problem spots and never even got the redness or flaking that most people report. This might work for some, but if your skin is made of freaking adamantium like mine seems to be, you might be disappointed. At least TO's retinol products are cheap, so I wasn't out much money. Verdict: Lame!Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream. Retinol eye cream here, and once again, got my hopes up since I've heard many folks say Neutrogena is a pretty good brand and this stuff was made to specifically target eye wrinkles. I haven't been using this one for long (though I've been using at least one retinol product since I started all this a year ago), but so far I haven't seen any progress on the eye wrinkles. Upsides are it goes on smooth, a little goes a long way, it didn't cause any issues when used with other skincare or cosmetic products and it doesn't appear to be scented at all. Verdict: TBA, but crappy at the moment.Biore Bright Milk Sunscreen. I reviewed this before and said I didn't like it because it caused pilling, but I withdraw my previous review because I learned that it causes pilling when used with oil-based serums and normal lotions. I use it with the Hada Labo lotion I mentioned above and a couple of TO's water-based serums and it works beautifully! I'm absolutely in love with it now. I love that it doesn't feel like Crisco on my face like most sunscreens. I intend to make this one a staple in my routine. Verdict: Fantastic!Heritage Rose Water + Glycerin. A toner recommendation, I bought the one in the spray bottle. It smells very pretty and while it makes me skin feel nice and soft, I don't think it actually did anything for me. But I have gotten compliments on smelling nice when I use it (I also put it in my hair), so there's that. I suppose it's nice as a perfume or a very mild skincare item, but I question its effectiveness. It's pretty inexpensive, so if you want to give it a try, it won't hurt your wallet much. Verdict: Smells nice, that's about it.I'm also currently using TO's Matrixyl 10% + HA, TO's AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, and Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel, but I don't think I've used them long enough to be able to offer a decent review. Will review them once I'm almost done with the bottles!

[misc] 21 Day No Pick Challenge Day 10
Beauty Tips For Body Care
You guys! I have managed to not pick for two days in a row, and now at 7pm in my local time, I haven't picked at all today. Maybe it's placebo effect but I feel like it's helping me break out less, or I just have less angry red stuff on my face because I haven't been messing with it. Something I've been doing with my hands instead is Learn to cook something special it doesn't have to be a super fancy recipe (but it can be if you want it to) but doing all the prep work of chopping up vegetables, seasoning everything well, even doing the dishes after is very satisfying, keeps me away from a mirror, and gives me something nourishing for my body at the end of it. I've only recently started to cook, so if you're not good at it either I highly recommend basically for recipes that are hard to mess up and walk you through everything. How are you all doing with picking? Share a recipe in the comments if you want!Catch up on past days here Day 1 / Day 2 / Day 3 / Day 4 / Day 5 / Day 6 / Day 7 /Day 8 / Day 9

[Skin concern] These little guys showed up today on my arm just under where my watch rests. They're tender to touch and look a little like blackheads but I can't get anything out

[Acne] Already have basic routine. Would adding serums be too much?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have acne and oily skin. Have red blemishes on chicks and chin. Can get Oily after a few hours. I have a very basic AM & PM routine of cleanse, exfoliate, 2.5% water based benzoyl peroxide and moisturizer. There's an area on my chicks where the pores are a little visible. I also want to slow oil production and help renewing skin cells and I heard the ordinary has some great serums for skincare (Niacinamide, Retinoid). Thing is, I know too much products might be harmful and that some recommend making routine minimal. Should I avoid involving more products? If not, is there a way to apply them without harming skin? Thanks ahead!TL;DR: Have acne oily skin. considering using the ordinary serums but afraid it might be too much altogether.

[Sun Care] For a sunscreen to maintain the integrity of its’ water resistant or sweat resistant claim, does it have to be applied to bare skin, or can it be applied over top of other products?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was thinking about this earlier today before going to the gym. I sweat loads whenever I’m active, and for this reason I seek out sweat or water resistant sunscreens. However, I also thought about the fact that these film forming, resilient sunscreens are going over the top of water soluble, basic moisturizers and serums and whatever else that probably easily lift away with sweat or water. If the sunscreen has formed a film on top of these, and then you sweat and those underneath products start to migrate and lift, then isn’t the sunscreen being taken away with it..?I haven’t seen this question in this sub before, so I figured I’d ask. I’m not certain if we have studies to back this up, but I’m so curious! Thank you!

[routine help] fine tuning for late 30s, large pores, eye wrinkles
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Longtime listener, first time caller, etc.I've played around a bit with some of the product and routine recommendations on here with some positive effect. Now I'd love your expertise on really personalizing which steps/products I should focus on. Large pores, fine lines and wrinkles, dry & oily skin. I don't really know what I'm doing but my current strategy is basically to always use products that say "hydrating" in the name :-/My current challenges are: *feels like it takes a looong time for products to soak into my skin, like they're just kind of sitting on top and being greasy. not sure if I should wait longer between steps or use different products. I get real sweaty real fast, so I think that's a factor *feel like my skin is not well hydrated, especially with the tired, crepe paper wrinkles under my eyes...but it also feels greasy at the same time. *moisturizer with SPF in the morning makes my skin look really shiny/oily. Is it? Or is that just the product? *make-up sinks into undereye lines and looks cakey *make-up also slides right off my face by midday. I often have to use a brush and some powder around lunchtime to take down shine. My Current Routine Morning *rinse while in the shower *Dickinsons Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner most days *prescribed topical: 1% clindamycin mixed with 10% benzoyl peroxide *fan sweaty face in a panic until it seems like topical has dried/absorbed *one pump Neutrogena Hydro Boost Serum *one pump CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion with SPF30After work *remove makeup with micellar water *wash with CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser, a couple times of week using Clarisonic brush *second application of 1% clindamycin & 10% benzoyl peroxide *skin often feels tight after this and I'll use some CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing LotionBefore bed *rinse with water and use Dickinson Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner *apply prescribed .025% tretinoin cream, let it sink in for 20ish minutes *apply lots of CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion or a couple times a week this grocery store brightening overnight mask with Vit C.I have a giant tub of Eucerin original healing cream and sometimes I'll put that on if I feel really dry. But it's so heavy and I don't know if/when in the routine I should use it and what it really does.Once a week I'll usually do a deep/pore refining clay mask followed by a moisturizing sheet mask. Mostly because it's fun.Pic: no makeup post-routine/after makeup. My makeup routine could use a lot of betterment, but I don't have the time or skill to do more than bareMinerals matte foundation powder, some setting powder, and mascara.
