[Product Question] Difference between Adapalene 0.1% and 0.3%

This is probably a dumb question, but I was wondering what's really the difference between those two concentrations. I mean, what differs in the way they work? Will the 0.3% give you clear skin quicker? Is it used for more severe acne? Because I have quite a lot of acne and my derm suggested that I use 0.1% instead of the 0.3% I had been using even though my skin wasn't particularly irritated from it and I wonder why. I've also seen people on here with not that much acne say they have just been prescribed the 0.3% and I don't really understand why. Just trying to learn!
