Yes, I know this isn't a serious question but I'm really curious!Mine would be Sukin's SPF30 Untinted Sunscreen - cause there's no point having clear skin if it's completed destroyed by the sun.

[Misc] ROUTINE MEGATHREAD - share your skincare routine here!! (July 2020)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Welcome to the Routine Megathread!!This is where we share our routines, talk about how they've changed, and maybe get some ideas on new things to try :)New Routine Megathreads are posted quarterly on the first Wednesday of the month (March, June, September, & December). If you want to be updated when a new Routine thread is posted, click the 'Follow' button above this post! All routines are welcome here - minimal, extensive, cult faves, hidden gems. Whatever your routine is, share it!Reviews of products are highly encouraged. What do you like and dislike? What's the consistency like? Does it have fragrance? Does it do what you wanted it to do?We also encourage you to talk about how your routine has changed - have you added a new moisturizer to combat colder weather? Have you made more eco-friendly choices? Or maybe it hasn't changed much at all because you're on a no/low buy! Your experience will be helpful for those who are going through a similar situation :) Here's how it worksTo keep the thread organized and to help you find users with a similar skin type, we have a template for you to use. Simply copy and paste the template into your comment, then fill it in!You certainly don't have to use this format if you don't want to - do whatever works for you! We just figured it'd be nice to have a template available.Depending on how you're browsing reddit (desktop, mobile), there are different formats to use. We've included both types to hopefully make formatting easy :) Template notes:'Other' is for weekly masks, facials or peels, oral medication, or anything else that doesn't fit into under an AM/PM routine!'General thoughts' could include how your routine has changed, what you like and dislike about your routine, etc. 1. If you're on desktop and the comment box looks like this (Redesign), copy this:Skin type:Skin goals:Season & climate:AM:PM:Other:General thoughts: 2. If you're on desktop and the comment box looks like this (Legacy), copy this:**Skin type:** **Skin goals:** **Season & climate:** **AM:** **PM:** **Occasional/Other:** **General thoughts:** Make sure there are two spaces at the end of each line! 3. If you're on the mobile app, you use the above format. But since the app won't let you copy & paste text, you can copy it from this google doc.(Sorry for the extra steps!) Don't forget to have fun!!Of course, this thread isn’t just about listing lots of routines - it’s also about sharing experiences! So feel free to chat about your routine with others, or ask someone a question about the product they like, or share your experience with a product someone else uses. Let’s make this thread both informative and fun :) This thread is part of the routine megathreads. To see past threads, click here.To be notified when a new Routine Megathread is posted, click the 'Follow' button above this post.Is there a problem with the thread that needs to be fixed asap? Okay, proceed to shipping, enter your address, click next, shipping costs calculating... calculating... Here are your options: $26.54 USD, $27.78 USD, $43.21 USD, $56.21 USD. Ummm okay, so with shipping and currency conversion, an item that would cost an American citizen is 40 bucks. Nope, not for us ye ol cancuks, we be paying $90 for one product. Ugh!!!

[Miscellaneous] I can’t believe that companies like Glossier advertise lavender oil as a selling point
Beauty Tips For Body Care
What got me thinking about the excessive inclusion of essential oils was looking at Glossier’s rich moisturizer, and then seeing that under the few ingredients they push as being beneficial, lavender oil is listed as being known to “have skin calming properties”. Modern science have revealed that’s absolutely not true in terms of skincare. Here’s just a couple links talking about it- https://www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/natural-skincare/essential-oils-for-skin.htmlhttps://www.marieclaire.com/beauty/a23622314/essential-oils-for-skin/.A direct quote from the bottom link is “Lavender oil is a popular kind of essential oil: It’s in every diffuser, detergent, mist, and bubble bath, and its revered for its stress-soothing, itch-fighting, anti-inflammatory properties. And yet, despite all of its street cred, lavender oil is a known skin allergen, even in a super-diluted form.”And no matter what, even if your skin personally isn’t sensitive and you feel like it could handle it, there’s still no reason to be putting a potential irritant into a product. That’s inviting more trouble for the user rather than fixing any original skin issues. I just think it’s really irresponsible of companies to be using essential oils like lavender in skincare at all, but to advertise it as a selling point is next level. I know Glossier doesn’t make super great skincare to begin with, but that’s no excuse for them not to try harder and be held accountable for bad advertising and false claims. And really I’m just trying to bring up my frustrations on the essential oil trend in skincare products in general. Does anyone else wish there were less potential irritants in products?

I have recently used salicylic acid and my forehead has now broken out in tiny little lumps (no whiteheads) and the skin is now scaly and almost wrinkled looking. I used the product all over my face but it has only reacted badly on my forehead. Does anybody have any ideas on why this has happened and how to fix it? [Skin Concerns] Keratosis Pilaris Treatment that works!!!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve suffered from KP since I was about 14 (10 years). For the longest time, I didn’t know what it was and pretty much ignored it without trying to treat it. I honestly didn’t even start moisturizing it until a few years ago (terrible, I know)! Anyways once I took accutane, my KP flares up uncontrollably. I used to have a moderate type on my legs and an extremely mild occasional type on my arms. After accutane, my legs became severe and I started getting it chronically on my upper arms. This is when I became self-conscious of it and tried every type of treatments and I mean EVERY treatment (anyone with this knows how hard it is to control). I’ve tried basically every type of exfoliant (shower wash, lotion, and mechanical form), a long with all of the “holy grail” lotions. NOTHING would control it.... at best slightly minimize it. A few days ago, I started using the Cerave Renewing SA lotion and I’M SHOCKED. I figured this would be another KP product that yielded little improvement, but my arms have never felt so smooth and the KP plugs I’ve had on my legs for 10 years are starting to disappear. This is ONLY AFTER 3 DAYS. I can’t wait to see what a month looks like. I’m also going to order the Cerave Renewing SA body wash and try it out. As you can tell I’m excited and figured I’d share it on here!

[misc] [acne] To anyone struggling with acne.....
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I just wanted to address acne and the mental strain it comes with. I have struggled with acne for the longest time ever. I’ve had acne since I was 12. I’m currently 25 and in medical school. Although acne was one the worst things that has happened to me, it has brought many blessings. I wouldn’t have wanted to study dermatology or medicine if it wasn’t for my acne. I wouldn’t have educated myself in skin care and skin science. Because of acne I learned from a very young age to always wear sunscreen. I have used sunscreen 2-3 a day for more than a decade. But that doesn’t mean i loved my acne nor it made me more confident. Acne made me feel dirty and like a monster. I’m mexican so I don’t know how society in the US treats people with acne but in Mexico people are made to feel ugly even though a majority of Mexico has dealt or is dealing with acne. Acne is extremely common yet many people are uneducated on skincare and are treated horribly because of it. Acne is rarely because of hygiene. It’s mostly genetic or hormonal. Both my parents had acne and my 3 siblings have dealt with acne. But none experienced it like me.Suddenly, my life revolves around my acne. I tried the most I could to cover it up with makeup or avoid eye contact. I would love to say that without my acne I would have found love or been more social, but that wouldn’t have been true. I had tried everything. I had been to many dermatologists. I had tried only a cleanser and sunscreen. I’ve tried just splashing my face with water. I’ve tried antibiotics and birth control. The only thing that helped control my acne was tretinoin. But it didn’t completely get rid of my acne. And because I have ethnic skin, dark spots plague my skin.It wasn’t until a few years ago that I finally made peace with my acne. I embraced it. It was what made me, me. I remember resenting people with clear skin. I remember hating people for telling me to wash my face. I tried to deal with my depression alone. Worst mistake ever. And concealing my acne with foundation made me even more socially anxious. it wasn’t until I went to school with only fierce eye makeup that I could finally feel a bit more confortable in my own skin.I remember watching a woman with the most sexy and fierce energy ever walking down the street with acne on her cheeks that made me happy of who I am. It isn’t up to society to force us to WASTE time and money to “fix” our skin. It isn’t up to other people to decide whether we like ourselves or not. And acne isn’t something unappealing that we have to “fix”. It’s a condition that will scar if left untreated. REMEMBER: We want to prevent acne so we don’t scar and so it doesn’t physically hurt. Not because others are bullying us into looking appealing.I HAD FOUND THE CURE FOR ACNE!!!!!! The cure for acne is to normalize it. If all of us with acne stood up to society and it’s beauty norms we could finally eradicate the harassment and self-harm that comes with acne. If we all went outside and felt comfortable in our own skin we could tell the world that we are not ashamed of our skin. Covering our skin in makeup and sobs will just tell the world that having acne isn’t a normal thing and it has to be avoided at all costs.I know that it seems scary at first but remember there is a whole community here that will support you! r/acne and r/skincareaddicition are both great communities. No one will harrass or bully you here. This is a safe environment!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hello SCA. I’m desperate for help clearing up my butt. My problem is 3-fold:AcneKPScarring from picking the 2 aboveI don’t know which issue to treat first, or what products will help without possibly making the other issues worse. Is YTTP worth the $$$? [Product Question]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It's sooo expensive. I figure if they work well, I won't need other supplementary products, but idk. It seems like an overhyped fad for the price.I just ordered a few samples because I ran out of my old crappy products. Are there other products that work just as well for less $? I would be willing to pay a little more if it was high quality and worked well.I have blackheads I absolutely can't stand and my skin is kind of normal-dry. I've got a little hyperpigmentation/scarring/redness that I'd like to calm/repair too. Tbh this skincare stuff is so overwhelming I don't know what to trust.

[Product Question] It seems like I'll never find a simple, fungal acne safe, non-clogging moisturiser.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I currently have Simple's Thirst Quench Sleeping Cream and I use it AM and PM; it's not bad, but it has a few things like Stearic Acid and other similar ingredients. It seems impossible to me that there is something out there that's a basic moisturiser without these kinds of ingredients (fatty acids/alcohols and oils). CeraVe has them, that very popular Neutrogena one has them... The only moisturiser TO has seems like fungal acne paradise. I don't know what to do.I have very oily skin, acne prone, and I used to have fungal acne/closed comedones, which I have mostly gotten rid of thanks to TO's acids. Since I still use them I want a very basic moisturiser. Any suggestion/advice would help!

Recommendations for moisturizers with SPF(30 or more)? [Product Question]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I will be honest, i am a lazy person. I do care about my skin but slapping on 10 different creams, especially in the morning, is kind of too much for me sometimes. My moisturizer AND sunscreen ran out yesterday, so i wanted to ask if any of you could recommend a two in one product for me which you had good experience with?

I am looking for a cleansing oil similar in feel to Rice Water Bright Light Cleansing Oil by The Faceshop. I love it, but the fragrance is too much for me. [Review] Be careful of this skincare brand.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
You guys need to be careful of this brand, "So Fresh So Clean." It has this product that claims to self-heat and says it's for all skin types. I used it one time and it burned me so bad that my skin was red and hot to the touch after I got it off. I've seen other reviews from people confirming it can burn your skin badly. It feels like fire on your face, so I wanted to let you guys know about it.

Does blue light age your skin and cause wrinkles? [Anti-aging]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Recently I've been researching causes of premature aging of the skin and how to prevent these. The common causes are UV Ray's and plain aging.I recently came across articles ab how blue light eminating from a lot of modern devices can be worse for your skin than UV Ray's. I find using blue light filter helps tremendously reduces the amount of blue light but doesn't completely remove itNow back to the og question: Should I really be worrying ab using a device that emits blue light everyday and how could it affect my skin as an avid phone user.

[Acne] I messed up my forehead
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I damaged my skin barrier back in March, all my products were causing burning. I stopped using Differin that I'd been on for over 2 years.I tried repairing it with all sorts of things like LRP Cicaplast Baume, CeraVe tub, CeraVe PM, LRP Lipikar, washing with honey, drop of glycerin in moisturizer, vaseline... then bumps started showing up. At the time I thought it was awful but looking back at pictures, it wasn't so bad.Switched to a FA safe routine in case, started Differin again on May 21st. Along the way I also tried Nizoral, Head & Shoulder, De La Cruz (my skin hates it), Clotrimazole 1% cream, Salicylic Acid spot treatment. Felt that the FA-like acne was better in the middle of the forehead, but then inflamed lesions showed up on both sides. Face was getting worst, but purging, you know. Realized the Differin was expired, a year over, stopped using it.The lesions are empty, no white stuff or hard sebum. They kinda look like bug bites. Is this acne, purging, irritation or fungal acne? I'm 35 and at my wits' end... Been going back and forth and doing a 'it's FA, no it's irritated, no it's acne, no it's purging' dance and clearly wrecked it along the way :(I asked my husband to hide all of my actives, masks, etc. I can't be trusted! This is my basic routine:AM: Rince, Uriage Bariederm moisturizerPM: Uriage Bariederm moisturizer and Bioderma Micellar, LRP Dermo Care cleanser if I had foundation on, which is rare latelyHow can my forehead recover from this?Beginning of the forehead acne in April, you can't really see but it was bumpy all over, similar to FAEnd of May (before Differin and DLC mask)June 23rd. Bumps have spread down. Stopped using Differin on that dayJune 28th, after a De La Cruz 5 minutes mask and skin picking :(

Bumps have spread down. Stopped using Differin on that dayJune 28th, after a De La Cruz 5 minutes mask and skin picking :(

[Routine help] When you apply moisturizers and or oils at night, and you apply Vitamin C serum in the morning, will the serum get through those layers?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I want to use Vitamin C in the morning for the sun protection and also because it would conflict with other products I use at night, but I feel like it would have a tough time getting through the silicones and oils from the night before. I don't want to do another cleanse in the morning, it's too drying for me. Thanks for any advice!

I can never seem to get a clean shave in my underarms. They look like chicken skin but I don’t pluck or wax them. Does anyone know what this is and what I can do? Also, do I have ingrown hairs?edit: here is another photo. I’m sorry, I know it’s gross. I don’t have anyone else to ask so I appreciate all the help I can get☺️

In Defense of Dermatologists [PSA]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone! I used to be a frequent peruser of this sub for product recommendations, but that's tailed off after the amount of dermatologist-focused criticism I've seen around. So I'm here to provide a defense. I'll refrain from going into detail regarding my background, because I don’t want to open myself up to anything.1.) I've seen people say frequently that dermatologists are just trying to get as many patients in and out as possible, and that they don't know what they're doing. But dermatologists aren't bottom-of-the-barrel doctors who couldn't cut it in the big leagues with the surgeons; they're amongst the best and brightest each medical school has to offer. Dermatology is one of the most competitive specialties each and every year, and requires substantial research and some of the highest percentile test scores to gain entry into residency. After that, it’s five years of training specifically centered around dermatology (to be fair, two years are more generalized and three are highly specific, in most programs). Derms are smart, and know what they're talking about! Some derms' bedside manner might be lacking, but their expertise is not.2.) I recently read someone cite their uncle (?), a doctor who said that no physician can ever be 100% well-versed on everything as they necessarily need to know about all diseases pertaining to their specialty, not just the one you came in with. This statement got a ton of upvotes and supportive discussion, and I've seen similar statements made in the past. Now I don’t want to make a broad strokes generalization here, but I'm entirely in disagreement- perhaps in family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics this is true, but it is absolutely not the case for any of the more niche specialties, and it is why referrals exist at all in those general specialties. There are academic conferences. There are widely-read journals. There are discussions with colleagues. If in an academic center, there are constant (and I do mean constant) morning and afternoon seminars on the latest and greatest in research. Most dermatologists are well aware of what’s going on. Derms may not see SJS often, if at all, but every single dermatologist sees acne and facial lesions (the bread and butter) day in and day out. The good news is, that's what everyone in this sub is dealing with! :)3.) “But my dermatologist wasn’t aware of this random article I found online!”Okay, I hear you. Reasons why your derm may not have considered the article:— One article does not evidence make. Few physicians are going to change up their treatment regimen based on one article.— If it’s published in a reputable journal, it’s likely to get noticed. If it’s published in a foreign country with a sample size of 25... probably not. Most physicians don't scour the web for original research but, like I said, do look at guidelines and journals. This means that if an article wasn't good enough to get picked up by a reputable journal or be presented at a conference, it's probably not as robust as you think it is.— There were/are flaws in the study methodology or analysis that were picked up on by the scientific community, which is why the study has not gained traction.4.) “But my dermatologist treated me for x even though I told them it was y, and then it turned out to be y after all!”Have you heard the phrase “common things are common”? In a field where so many conditions present so similarly, and testing is either costly, invasive, or no testing to differentiate exists, you treat the condition it is most likely to be first. Yes, patients know their bodies better than physicians do. Yes, it’s entirely possible the patient is right. However- literally hundreds of people come in having decided that they have rare condition y, when 99% of them are successfully treated as having common condition x. Of course those who end up being diagnosed with y are upset, but that’s the way it works. It’s the way all medicine works when testing isn’t feasible.I know I've made generalizations. I know every field has their bad apples. But the attitudes we have and often encourage in this sub are on a small scale reflective of the anti-"scientific authority" wave sweeping the nation. Please: if you can afford it (which I know is a big IF) and if you've been dealing with significant acne in your adult life, go see a doctor. There's no guarantee it can help (but again, common things are common...), but I promise you it's a step forward compared to slathering 12 different products on your face every night.

There is significant power in this community to demand change. Please use this thread to post links to contact your favorite skincare brands and demand they start using eco-friendly or zero waste packaging. I would also appreciate if people posted brands that are currently using reduced plastic-free or reduced plastic packaging. You can use the following as a template for your message:Dear [COMPANY],I am a loyal and regular customer of your skincare products, specifically [PRODUCT YOU PURCHASE]. However, I am deeply concerned with your current use of plastic packaging. Plastic has been known to cause serious damage to both human health and the environment. Your use of plastic packaging deeply concerns me for the following reasons:Plastic is created with harmful chemicals that are absorbed by our bodies and can negatively impact our hormones, causing serious disruptions to our endocrine system.Plastic is not biodegradable and will remain on this planet forever, breaking down into small microplastics that can contaminate sources of our drinking water.Plastic has created massive amounts of garbage in the ocean and in landfills, poisoning and injuring the wildlife that live there and leeching dangerous chemicals into our groundwater.Plastic is created using oil, a non-renewable energy source that is produced using harmful methods that pollute our air. Transportation of oil has been known to break and contaminate water supplies.Half of all plastic on this planet today was created in the past 15 years. Your company is directly responsible for a significant amount of this waste. As your customer, I urge you to find an eco-friendly and/or zero waste alternative to your current packaging. If you do not comply with this request I will be forced to seek out a new brand that is more aligned with my personal ethics. There are a significant amount of skincare brands that are adapting to zero waste and eco-friendly packaging. Many of your customers are concerned with your practices of using plastic packaging and will stop purchasing your products in favor of brands that are more aligned with their values. Please own up to your responsibility for the harm you are creating for both your customers and our planet. I know you can do better.Thank you for your consideration,[NAME]Edit: Click here to see the similar post I made in r/MakeupAddiction. Click here for the post in r/HairScience. [Miscellaneous] Susan Yara's apology video and what to learn from it.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello to the beautiful ScA community. I just watched the apology video posted by Susan and I am having so many thoughts right now. Basically she apologized for not telling us earlier and hopes we support her. You can watch the video here.https://youtu.be/WI_Wrmu2DpkWe as consumers have become so gullible and that can be seen from her comments section. Why do we need to forget the fact that she or anyone irrespective of gender should be held accountable to the standards of the law and especially in the industry where The product interacts with your skin. I am happy she took the first step and apologized and I agree about people being so hateful sometimes but companies need to understand and prioritize the customer. Few points I'd like to point out:She mentioned in her pinned comment that some products were her personal concepts and others had evolved with her input yet in her video she mentions she wasn't sure about her role. Legally, it might be true as she wasn't a co-founder on paper but she still didn't tell the consumers and thus contradicting her own statement. If you are developing a product and still don't know your role, I am sorry either you are too gullible or think we are as she herself said she gave too much time into it.The comment she made on her Facebook group about haters using women taking women down disguise to pull her form was wrong on so many levels. This not only harms other entrepreneurs and your credibility in the industry. You are showing that you are not taking good at taking criticism. She didn't say anything about that in the video. Using this way hurts women who actually suffer from that. Companies need to be able to take criticism and grow. Also, this affects the credibility of the other influences in her video. She even deleted people from the FB group a with comments saying they were haters. Since when did criticism become hating? I still don't see this as an apology but more as a get out of it asap thing. Though she said she'll learn from it so let's hope. All the best to her.Don't get me started about the comment section. People are so gullible and they forget easily. I am not in favor of cancel culture and I truely believe you learn as you go but putting words like 'I don't care about anything as long as the product is good' is what's causing such behaviours by the company making them think they can do any wrong and get away with it. Be mindful of what your are putting on your skin but also where the product is coming from. This kind of attitude is harmful to you as a consumer more than them as a company. This gives the companies the freedom to think they can get away with anything. I sincerely hope consumers will be more mindful and aware and not be so much gullible because in the end it's a business and what you don't realize is they'll earn from it and you are not getting anything from it so all you can do is create awareness and raise your voice. We don't need more companies coming out like this. We already have a bunch of them and if you want to come out as a company, stick to what you know, be as transparent as you can and quality of products and you'll succeed. TO is a great example of success even without fancy names like bio this and bio that. People will buy it if it's good. All the best to her company and hope she learns from this. The action is not important than the apology. Also, I appreciate her to donate her revenue generated to 3 organizations.

[Misc] Diaper Rash paste with 40% zinc oxide has gotten rid of my stubborn cysts in 1/4 the time it usually takes.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I rarely get cysts, but once every couple months or so, one will pop up on my chin. It’s huge, red, and painful. They disappear after a good month or longer, and I’ve tried everything on the internet to get rid of them faster: Ice, crushed aspirin on it, a hot spoon, benzoyl peroxide, OTC acne spot treatments, acne patches, differin, salicylic acid, AHA/BHA treatments, clay masks, etc.During my crazed search of literally anything to help get rid of my cysts, I came across a bunch of reddit posts about the Zinc Oxide. I went to Target last year and made my way to the baby aisle and saw the 4oz generic diaper rash paste for less than $5. You can opt to get the 2oz one, I regret going for the bigger size since I have hardly put a dent into this. The most important thing is to look for the paste/cream that has 40% zinc oxide as the active ingredient. Any less, and it won’t be as effective. Brand doesn’t matter either. This apparently works on all types of acne as well, and zinc oxide (in smaller amounts) is a common ingredient in some acne skincare items. Now to the good stuff. I recently felt a cyst coming in Saturday night. By Saturday morning, it grew to about a little under 1/2 inch and was very noticeable, red, and painful. This was the first time I’ve tried using the zinc oxide consistently and by Thursday morning I saw a dramatic decrease in size and redness, now it’s just a tiny bump 1/12 inch if that. Other times, I put it on overnight once and didn’t see a difference so just sat in defeat and waited for it to naturally go away. You have to be incredibly committed to spot treating it daily to see a difference. Here was my method:spot treat primarily at night, it gets difficult sleeping with it on because it will rub off. The paste doesn’t really dry and harden at all due to the ingredients in it.double cleanse in the morning with an oil based cleanser (due to the vaseline in the product) and a normal cleanser. additional spot treatments during the day if you’re able, luckily I was able to do it while I worked from home due to the COVID-19 crisisdon’t be shy with how much you put on. It should cover the acne and a little around the perimeter. I put about 1/4 a pea size and patted it on nice and thickHow it works according to /u/WAKEUPFUCKEDUP:The zinc oxide itself is an anti-inflammatory, and what it's mixed with (usually white petrolatum, aka vaseline) acts as nothing more than a vehicle to deliver the zinc and act as a barrier. Strong formulations (ie 40% zinc oxide, 60% white petrolatum) are used as diaper rash creams since it not only soothes the burn and itching, it also dries the area which helps prevent further irritation from rubbing. So the zinc oxide will work its magic (by that I mean science that I can't quite explain) and calm/neutralize whatever it is that is irritating your skin and causing the redness. This paper has a lot more information on other benefits and uses of zinc oxide topical and oral. Also, you should always patch test, because you could have a sensitivity to it which can cause hives, itching, rash, etc., which may not be life-threatening but are annoying as shit.Other Reddit posts that inspired my purchase:[Review] Diaper Cream is my HG for cystic acne!!!!!!Does anyone else use diaper rash cream on their face?[Acne] I used Diaper Rash Cream on my very stubborn PIE for 5 nights..Insight comment from /u/e1g53th on their personal experience with Diaper cream and helpful tips

I’m hesitant to shell out the $54 though, so I’ve ordered the sample size set for $7.I was just debating buying the full size when I noticed something.... Biossance lists the sample size as 4ml for $7 (plus you get the 3 oz eye cream). The full size Eye Gel is $54 for 15 ml.If you divide 15 by 4, you get the equivalent of 3.75 sample sizes. By their pricing, I could just buy 4 of their sample kits for $28 and have more than the full sized bottle for half the price. Also, perhaps sneakily, they do not list the full size at anywhere on the site that I could find. I had to google the product and check wts on Sephora and other sites that sell it.How does this make sense? I mean, it’s annoying to have all the little sample bottles lying around, but it’s not inconvenient enough for me to pay double!I feel like this is a huge oops on their part. So frustrating.

Starting a skincare line [Personal]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am in the VERY beginning stages of starting my skincare line, and I wanted to share what I've learned so far in case any fellow skincare addicts are interested in doing the same. I've sifted through many resources (including r/SkincareAddiction and found tons of information)! I thought I'd add my take on things to the mix.DISCLAIMER: I am by no means and expert, and I am learning more about this process every day, and I'll continue to come with updates with my progress if you are all interested in following along!STEP 1: Find your niche- For me this was one of the easier steps. I'm centering my line around travel, and I knew that if it was something I was passionate about, I would be able to clearly convey my message.STEP 2: Business name/entity/trademark- Before firmly settling in on a name PLEASE check to make sure the name is not already associated with an active trademark. Names are easy to change, but once you start making money with someone else's name, it can get very expensive with legal fees: [https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks-application-process/search-trademark-database](https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks-application-process/search-trademark-database)- Aside from skincare, this was a big step business-wise. I created my LLC and ensured that I filed my taxes as an S-Corp - this was my personal decision as I am the only member of the LLC. But, I'd recommend reading this to decide which one suits you best: [https://www.rifkindpatrick.com/Blog/2015/November/The-4-Major-Business-Organization-Forms.aspx](https://www.rifkindpatrick.com/Blog/2015/November/The-4-Major-Business-Organization-Forms.aspx)- Request your EIN from the IRS. This is absolutely necessary if you want to open a business checking account or credit card. My preferred way of financing has been to open up business credit cards with the 0% intro APRs. That way all I can pay the minimum without being charged interest for a certain amount of time. CAUTION: if you go this route, know there is a big risk if you don't pay off these credit cards before the introductory APR is up.STEP 3: Find manufacturing- This has been the most time consuming process, and you can definitely find yourself ripped off if you don't do your due diligence.- Decide if you want your product contract manufactured (this offers a lot more of your input and is completely custom designed) - OR- if you want to use private label (this is a formula the manufacturer already has that you can buy and put your name on it). Personally, I decided on the contract manufacturing route because there is a very specific feel and ingredient list I would like within my line.- Research and reach out to as many manufacturers as you can! You'll soon learn who you vibe with. Since I am BRAND new to this, I ended up choosing the manufacture that walked me through every cost, so I was never blind-sided. There was an added trust and in my comparisons, they were the middle-of-the-road price-wise. But, everyone will have their own preferences. Here is a basic list of questions I'd have for each company:* How long have you been in business?* What are some clients you have worked with in the past?* Do you assist with finding packaging/labeling? Do you have any packaging/labeling manufacturers you'd recommend?* What is the approximate timeline for production?* What kind of testing do you do?* What is your formulation fee?* What is the minimum SKU (units)?* After formula development, do you own the formulation? If so, do you have a process to buy the formulation from you at any point?STEP 4: Pricing- This step is actually more in line with manufacturing rather than after. It is VERY important to know what you want your product to sell for. That way, you can reverse engineer and find out how money you can put into that product to maintain that price. I ended up making an excel spreadsheet that compared all the manufacturers I was considering. It helped me get an idea of the differences between them that may not have been readily apparent.- Additionally, when pricing, skincare has a HIGH mark-up that I was initially not aware of. When selling retail (on your own website or store) you mark-up is 80%... this allows for a buffer when selling to wholesalers down the road where your mark-up is 60%. (I have it outlined in my spreadsheet, so if you're interested in seeing that then just PM me because idk how to post here).STEP 5: Research, Research, Research (Maybe this shouldn't be step five because it continues throughout the entire process)- As I said before, I am still learning. I can't tell you how often I frequent this sub to get ideas and learn about new ingredients. My main item on my line is sunscreen and there is a TON of information about good ingredients and how the stack up. It gets me excited to read about how I can make it betterSTEP 6: Design/Packaging/Labeling- In all honesty, I can't speak to this quite yet because this is where I am currently! If you're all interested, I'll continue to update my process and what I'm learning. IN ADDITION, if ANYONE has gone down this road before and has any further to add, please let me know!

Anyone else have skin that’s drastically improved but still looks “bad” because of dark spots? [misc]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This might seem like a weird question, but I wanted to see if anyone else is dealing with the same thing. I’m still recovering from a bad breakout and bouts of hormonal acne that’s been going on for the last couple months, but my skin isn’t totally clear yet. However, I’m on medication for it and I expect it to clear in the next month or two. But even though my skin has improved, it still looks like I have bad acne because of my dark spots (PIE/some kind of hyperpigmentation). Idk when they’ll fade but if I don’t wear my tinted sunscreen, they’re extremely noticeable. It’s so so annoying and disheartening, especially considering the best treatment for them is time and patience... anyone else dealing with the same thing?PS. I’m planning to start using niacinimide, alpha arbutin and vitamin C once my breakouts have totally stopped because I want to solely focus on dark spots and not have to worry about breaking out anymore. But I’m worried that the longer I wait to treat these spots the harder it’ll be to get rid of them. It’s just so frustrating ugh!

[Routine help] help me start a routine for my 13 year old niece!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My brother’s daughter(single father) is 13. She asked me to help her with a beginner’s skincare routine but our skin is wildly different so I don’t want to give bad advice. Her skin is fairly oily but she doesn’t have a ton of acne, just normal teenage acne. I’m thinking simple is better because she’s so young and I don’t want her to strip her skin so early in life so maybe a few products daily and then something she can do 1-2x a week. Does anybody have advice?

[Misc] Should all your skincare products be the same brand?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm starting to run low on some of my skincare products and was wondering if sticking with the same product line is the best way to go?I spoke to a friend who says yes, because the products are all tested together, so you don't have to worry about unusual reactions from mixing different products. However, she's also a rep for a skincare company (that has good but expensive products), so I'm worried she's a bit biased. What do you think?

[SUN CARE] Is this sunscreen too good to be true? (ClearChoice Sport Shield)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My mom got ClearChoice Sport Shield Sunscreen SPF from an aesthetician and introduced me to it, and I’m obsessed with the way it goes on and feels on my skin—it’s completely transparent (I have dark skin; this is translucent even coming out of the tube and goes on like a clear gel) and feels like an aloe gel or light moisturizer, not greasy in the slightest. It’s so nice that I’m scared it’s not actually protecting my skin (so I’m using a different sunscreen while I figure this out). The ingredients on the back say it contains 14% micronized zinc—does anyone know the difference between this and zinc oxide in terms of sun protection? (When I look up the product, some websites that carry it say it does contain zinc oxide, while others say micronized zinc.) Any insight would be welcome!

Anyone else who is just loving the sun? [Misc]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know that this sub can be quite anti-sun sometimes, but i just wanted to get out that im just so glad to have some warm and sunny days finally. Yes, i do apply suncreen when going to the beach or sit on my patio, no worries. But the point is that i just love the feeling of sun on my skin and sometimes im just a bit worried when scrolling through this sub that people get so much anxiety over a few minutes of sun without sunscreen applied, or even when in the sun for hours with sunscreen on. Please remember people, the sun also good for our body, so enjoy the sunny days!

[Misc] I found the cause of my suddenly terribly chapped lips and it’s the dumbest “Aha!” moment I’ve had in a while.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was not rinsing Differin off my fingertips before applying my lip balm, which is Cerave Healing Ointment (large tube). Started using a q-tip to apply lip balm, and my two weeks’ worth of painful, bleeding lips healed in two days. Lesson learned: Retinoids really do dry out EVERYTHING and even minor transfer can be an issue.

[Sun care] Ombrelle anti-shine face sunscreen is really keeping my forehead matte.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I just got a tube of the new Ombrelle anti-shine face sunscreen. It’s spf 60 with Mexoryl (great UVA filter). It dries matte and keeps my face shine free all day. Most sunscreen leaves on very greasy finish on my face that I powder down, but not this one. I’m in love! There is only one very poor review on the website and I don’t understand why. I plan on writing one myself as I am so happy I found this product!Edit: a typo

[Sun Care] Under UV Camera: Purito Centella Green Level Unscented Sun
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Product page: https://puritoen.com/product/purito-centella-green-level-unscented-sun/54/UV Filters: Uvinul A Plus & Uvinul T 150All pictures: https://imgur.com/a/7PC6rz3PreparationI applied the sunscreen on my left arm, wait for 20 mins and take a photo using UV camera (Sunscreenr). For experiment purpose, I'd just cover from back of my hand to somewhere around my wrist. I'd leave my wrist area as comparison. No white cast on me. Takes time to set, and on my arm (and face), it doesn't dry down matte as you can see from the photo.Initial application: https://imgur.com/Mh25kzeShine level: https://imgur.com/V6LXX9yUV Camera - Initial vs After 20 mins: https://imgur.com/zW3gijLPowdered OverSo since it doesn't actually dry to the touch, I tried to powder it with RCMA Translucent powder with make up puff like thishttps://imgur.com/cjPRbIjPowdered section looked less shiny under UV camera: https://imgur.com/lXNuhL6I don't think it disrupted anything? But I do see the powdered patches under UV camera.Rubbing under Running WaterI put my back of hand under running water over the sink. Figured since it's not friction resistant based on my experience, so I tried rubbing lightly and vigorously to see the difference.Rubbed lightly under running water (honestly it's hard to describe how much pressure I did, maybe like when you are washing our hands?):https://imgur.com/aDQaqqaRubbed vigorously under running water:https://imgur.com/wa5SoD3Not surprised, the sunscreen faded significantly vs the undisturbed swatch (wrist area).Removal with foaming body washI tried with my foaming body wash from Shokubutsu. It can remove the sunscreen thoroughlyhttps://imgur.com/583NR7IReviews / Thoughts:I use this as my indoor sunscreen since it's like a moisturizer with SPF for my oily skin. It's not matte and it takes time to set. But it's not shiny or greasy looking (say, like the La Roche Posay Shaka Fluid - you can see it from my post how shiny it was). It will just look like my skin.I live in humid tropical southeast asia and I have oily skin. Rarely sunscreen can dry completely matte on me. The only sunscreens that totally dry matte on me from the bunch of sunscreens that I have tried are: Skinfood Sunflower No Sebum gel (my post here)and Anessa Perfect Milk (2018 formula - my post here)For reference, my morning routine, I use benzoyl peroxide > timeless synthe6 / matrixyl serum (one drop only) on my whole face, and top up with sunscreen. So it's definitely not due to my skincare interfering with the sunscreen dry down time. I use around 2 fingers length, with the thickness on the photo I showed on initial application.I also use this as moisturizer underneath my usual sunscreen when I'm going out; as it somewhat helps my other sunscreen to not pill around my hairline. I just use ~3 pea size of the purito when I use it as moisturizer underneath my sunscreen. This sunscreen doesn't have oil control at all. Pretty much like after an hour, my face will get oily. You can literally see my pores 'holes' get filled up with oil haha. Oh, this makes my face sweat too (you know the sweaty sensation below your nose when the weather is hot? or is it just me haha). I can feel the 'coating' on my oily skin. That being said, I don't mind wearing this since I know I'll be indoor. I actually have repurchased it many times. It's good for calming down redness too; which I welcome it since I started tretinoin 3 months ago; so my skin has this tendency to get red every now and then.About UV cameraDisclaimer: I only use this to see if a sunscreen disperses an even layer (or patchy and spotty); and if I miss out a spot during application. It's not by all means to measure the sunscreen protection level. Got mine from sunscreenr.com. It's compatible with android phone.

[PSA] If you have serious acne, buying a couple of products from The Ordinary probably won’t solve it.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don’t know who needs to hear this but I am sharing my personal experience. If you have moderate to severe acne you probably need prescription actives or the help of a dermatologist. I’ve had moderate acne since I was a teenager and it was under control for a while but it had been getting worse in my mid 20’s. I went in curology for a while and saw significant improvement but since it’s kind of pricey I quit it to see if I could just replace it using products with similar ingredients from The Ordinary. My curology formula that worked the best for me was 4% niacinamide, 8% azelaic acid, 1% clindamycin, so I bought The Ordinary Niacinimide & Zinc serum, TO 10% azelaic acid, AHA & BHA peeling solution, Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.... my skin just got worse. So what did I do? Bought more products from the ordinary! I have the glycolic acid 7%, Ascorbyl glycoside, granactive retinoid, buffet serum, alpha arbutin (most of these I don’t use regularly anymore). I even tried some Paulas choice azelaic acid products (PC 10% azelaic acid and PC defense pore purifier) and they made me break out. I also tried some Cosrx products and other things that are commonly recommended on this sub. (I worked each product into my routine gradually, I didn’t start a bunch of new things all at once). Nothing made my skin better and a lot of things made my skin worse. I got fed up and now I’m recently back on my curology prescription. I think the clindamycin (prescription antibacterial) and azelaic acid really made the difference. TO azelaic acid has a stronger silicone texture that I think my skin hated. It will take some time for it to improve the damage I’ve done to my face but I suppose I learned a lot about what my skin responds poorly to. I still occasionally use TO niacinamide but I never really saw it make a positive difference. I just got the Alpha arbutin + ha serum recently to see if it would fade my acne scars but haven’t been using it long enough to tell. I’m sure The Ordinary products have helped a lot of people, I’m just saying don’t get your hopes up for their products or other trendy products to be a “miracle cure” for you.
