Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been fighting closed comedones, unevenness, and hormonal acne for... forever. Even though I'm religious about washing my face, using AHAs and BHAs, vitamin C, running my products through comedogencity checkers, and sunscreen, facialists would always comment that I have a bunch of clogged pores.I've tried glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, retinoids, and spironolactone... nothing. No changes....Until I tried Azaleic acid on a whim. In 3 weeks, my skin looks better than its ever looked. What I thought was sensitivity and closed comedones, I now believe was rosacea. The degree to which it lightened my acne hyperpigmentation is marked. I've been using the 10% azaleic acid from Paula's choice and I'm never going back.Upon further research, azaleic acid is used for closed comedies, acne, brightening dark spots, and rosacea. It's sold as a prescription under the name Finacea in the US for rosacea and used as an off-label treatment for acne. It also is shown to be safe for darker skin tones. Keep in mind that it can cause some peeling, sensitivity and dryness (although I haven't experienced any negative side effects), so always spot test.Tl;dr: if you haven't had success with other acids or topicals, you can give azaleic acid a shot!
