Beauty Tips For Body Care
Pre pandemic I had a pretty simple routine: wash am, oil cleanse pm daily, treat once am different pm and moisturizer/spf. Lockdown and masks and lack of routine my skin went haywire so I introduced like one extra thing to treat the breakouts.A bit later, I started buying...stuff...expensive stuff I don’t need. My current “shelfie” would be embarrassing on top of the “gadgets”. Even still I’m inconsistent in their use so I’m not seeing some miracle results. Most recently I decided since I’ve been taking such poor/random care of my skin, I would start the “10 step” Korean regimen which I spent another $70 on which I’m sure will last 3 days.Sorry I’m venting, but I’m because there is no miracle cure in all this that will turn back my skin clock 25 years. I need you all to tell me to quit shopping!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
If you're new to SkincareAddiction: welcome! This thread is the best place to start if you have questions about skincare products, your routine, and your skin. Our community is knowledgeable, and we want to help you have the best skin of your life!Do you have a question?Step 1: Read our resourcesBe sure to check out our FAQ and Wiki! There are a lot of topics covered in those links, but some of the most popular guides include: The ScA Routine (Need a routine? Start here!)Routine OrderHG Product Recommendations AcneHyperigmentation (including dark acne 'scars'/marks, melasma, etc.)Dehydrated Skin Or search the sub using this awesome website. You might find a solution to your problem there! If you can't find an answer, or you have additional questions after reading, please move on to step 2! Step 2: Ask for helpTo give you the best advice possible, our users need relevant information about your skin and skincare. With your request for help please include: The issue(s) you need help with. It's helpful to put your questions at the top of your comment (especially if it's a long one)!Skin type. It's OK to be subjective, how do you feel your skin is? Oily, dry? If you need help clarifying, check out this guide on skin typesCurrent routine with the full names of your products (try to separate it in to Morning, Evening, and Occasionally used)How long you have been using your current routine, or product in questionAnything new you’ve introduced or started doing that might change the condition of your skinYour location so we can recommend products/services available to you Thanks for taking the time to include your information! It's better for people to understand why something is a poor choice, instead of just being told that it is one!Once a year, we have a big thank you post for everyone who has helped out in the DHT where we give out nifty flairs & gold to exceptionally informative and kind users. Check out our list of ScA Helpers and our most recent thank you post!Whether it be in-depth responses that deserve to be their own guides, thoughtful product recommendations, or simply pointing someone in the right direction, we appreciate all the time and effort you've made to help others!Previous ThreadsThis thread is posted every day at 12:00am ET.

[Personal] One thing I feel like I’ve learned from the past few years of delving into skincare is that just because a product doesn’t work doesn’t mean that that active ingredient doesn’t work for you
Beauty Tips For Body Care
For example, I tried the burts bees salicylic acid spot treatment and it absolutely does not work on me. That doesn’t mean that other products formulated with salicylic acid won’t work on me because each brand formulates their product in a different way. Also when it comes to having a bad reaction to a product I feel we tend to assume we’re having that bad reaction to the active ingredient, meanwhile it can often be an inactive ingredient that triggers a rash or stinging sensation. I remember being terrified of using salicylic acid after using the clean and clear persagel because it burned the f*ck out of my skin, but years later when I tried other salicylic acid products I found they didn’t sting at all. Same thing happened when I got a store brand zinc oxide ointment and it gave me a red scaly rash. I thought I was allergic to zinc oxide for a year before I had the nerve to try again and find I have no bad reaction.Anyway I hope this helps anyone on here who’s feeling frustrated with their products not working, I sure know that feeling.

[routine help] huge clogged pores and stubborn blackheads won’t go away
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! Ok I’m hoping this post can maybe help me. So the last 6 months I’ve been trying to really focus on improving my skin. I don’t really break out or get pimples or anything. I just have huge pores around my nose (like on the sides) and a million blackheads on my nose you can see from a mile away. Nose, chin and T zone always have blackheads and won’t go away. My skin is also always dry but feels strong? (Like doesn’t get irritated or red easily)My routine has been: AM - inkey list salicylic acid cleanser - glycolic acid toner - salicylic acid on my nose and chin - the ordinary hyaluronic acid serum - elta md sunscreenPM - wash face with inkey list salicylic acid cleanser - glycolic acid toner - paulas choice salicylic acid on my whole face - i normally try to do the ordinary salicylic acid mask a few times a week (or I do a mud mask or Fresh Umbrian clay mask) - Sunday Riley Juno serum before bed - sometimes do cerave night cream Bc I have such dry skinI literally have to stick to this exact routine everyday, if I don’t wash my face one morning or skip a night before bed my skin looks disgusting the next day and pores and blackhead visibility are HUGE.I’ve only been doing this specific routine for probably the last month but been using the salicylic acid almost daily or every other day since November. My skin looks better-ish when I keep up the routine but I still see the blackheads literally everywhere they cover every millimeter of space on my nose and on my t zone and chin they just won’t go away.Has anyone conquered their blackheads or have any product recommendations???Thank you!!

[Misc] An alternative motivation for wearing sunscreen in winter
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin does better when I wash my face every night, but sometimes I have trouble finding the energy before bed. But if I'm wearing sunscreen, I can feel the film on my face and always want to wash it off before bed. Therefore, life hack! I put sunscreen on every day, I'll wash my face every day. Win-win! To me, tricking myself into washing my face is a more effective motivator for everyday winter sunscreen use than my desire for sun protection. Thought I'd share for anybody else trying to build the face washing/sunscreen using habit.

[misc] be careful with spearmint
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I started drinking spearmint around two months ago. It really cleared up my skin, but in the last few weeks my body has become severely out of order. I've been having insomnia, anxiety attacks nearly nightly, and I've never experienced this before. I didn't know what it was before but then I researched estrogen dominance because other parts of my body were going wack as well and I suspected hormones. (TMI warning). I was constantly bloated, had excess discharge and swollen painful breasts and cramps even though I'm nowhere close to my period. Spearmint tea lowers androgens, which leaves estrogen to be extra high in some cases.I drank the tea in loose leaf form so I probably got a higher concentration than what was safe(by accidentally drinking the whole leaf), so I'm not saying this will happen to everyone. It didn't happen to my sister who drank the same as me(although she empties the tea leaves and did not see a difference in her skin). Just monitor for these symptoms and moderate. And please, see a doctor if you can and be careful. Just wanted to share my experience to keep y'all safer!

[Anti-Aging] Does wearing sunscreen matter if you don’t go outside?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
When I go outside, it’s only to drop my kids off at daycare and pick them up. Maybe walk into a restaurant and back to the car.Does it matter if I wear sunscreen if I’m in the sun for 2 min max? What about the days it’s my husband’s turn for daycare and we don’t go out to eat and I literally don’t leave the house? Sunscreen is literally just to keep the sun from damaging your skin, right? So I can’t imagine it’d make a difference for me based on my lifestyle.Am I missing something?

[RESEARCH] Aging at a cellular level- Telomeres and why they matter!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I think it’s been said enough that stress, sun damage, smoking, etc can all lead to aging. But at the core root of this involves our telomeres. Telomeres, Otherwise known as our biological age, are the caps at the end of DNA protecting our chromosomes. As we age, these tend to shorten. We typically start off with telomeres that are 8,000- 10,000 nucleotides long. Genetics play a factor in how long your telomeres are to begin with. Contributing up to 30-40% of their length. Chronic maternal stress can even contribute to a child’s telomere length being shorter. As well as childhood stress/trauma.Our cells replenish by copying themselves. Each time this happens, telomeres shorten. When they get too short to continue their function, our cells age and stop working properly. They are essentially the aging clock of every cell. When we are under chronic stress, poor lifestyle habits like drinking/smoking, or other poor lifestyle habits, we experience internal inflammation. This speeds up the process of telomere shortening, making you age faster. Our telomere length, which is affected by various lifestyles, determines our lifespan, rate of aging, and overall health. It is the core of it all!Possibilities to lengthen?Along with the basics- no alcohol, sun care, limited stress, exercising, etc. there are a few other interesting options to look into.Nutritioncan significantly reduce impact on telomeres. Mainly ones rich in antioxidants.Omega-3’s/fish oil pills- biggest one!Nuts/legumes/vegetables/fruit/ whole grains.Seaweed and green tea (high antioxidants)Exercise/maintain healthy weightVitamin D - largely contributes to healthy telomeres.TA-65This one is controversial so I would suggest doing some research yourselves as there’s a bit of criticism but I thought I’d put it here anywaysA plant based compound from the herb astragalus which allegedly can help maintain or rebuild telomeres. This activates an enzyme called telomerase. Which helps slow down telomere shortening or POSSIBLY reverse damage.Standford studyTo be short, Researches at Standford have developed a new procedure to lengthen telomeres by up to 10%. They’ve effectively increased the number of times a cell can divide. Unfortunately the results only lasted 48 hours until the telomeres began to shorten again with each cell division. This is still a great stride to unlocking a “fountain of youth” though, and could mean great possibilities in the future for those with degenerative diseases/ genetic conditions!Side note: I got into telomeres when I took an integrated behavioral health class and learned more through various others after. As far as skincare lines go, I have researched a bit into Dr. Perricone and have read some of his books as he talks a lot about internal inflammation, telomere shortening, etc. all related to aging. I don’t think a lot of other skincare lines really go into such depth or offer what his does in terms of knowledge on that biological level. I like to use skincare that I believe in. While it’s expensive, I love the idea of his neuropeptide line and the DMAE products really peeked my interest. He creates supplement lines as well to reduce inflammation but I have not tried them yet. I don’t ever see much hype about him but I’m hoping more will get a chance to at least read a book of his, he’s an incredibly knowledgeable man!Aging starts at the cellular level and ends there. Take care of your bodies internally, that damage will soon reflect externally.I’m no expert so if you have anything you’d like to add or have some criticism please feel free to add!

Not sure if I’m just justifying the fact that I popped a pimple that’s been on my face for months, after not touching my face in 3 months :) but I have noticed that often times it’ll disappear quicker.

[Routine help] Washing face in the morning after slugging?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Is this necessary to do after applying an occlusive the night before to wash your face the next morning? I usually don't have much left on my face by morning but I'm curious if I just use water and no cleanser if by not cleansing my products I put on for the day are going to be beneficial to my skin and the ingredients will actually get to my skin?

[Misc] Does blotting remove water-resistant/water-proof sunscreen?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I apply the recommended 1/4 tsp amount of sunscreen on my face. My skin is already oily, and the sunscreen has a dewey/oily finish. Typically 30 minutes to an hour after I apply, I blot lightly since my face looks pretty greasy. Is this blotting decreasing the efficacy of my sunscreen, even though my sunscreen is a sport sunscreen and water resistant?

[Misc] Does your skin look great in the morning but then look "worse" as the day goes on?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am assuming this is something that many people do experience, but it really irks me and I actually haven't seen much discussion on it. Do you notice your face looking more blemishy as the day progresses?I have noticed that when I wake up in the morning, my face often looks much smoother and more even. Like, that peak glow, ya know? But as the day goes on, I feel like my complexion gets more uneven and any texture I have becomes more pronounced. I have combo oily skin, sensitive, mildly acne prone (mostly hormonal), so I kind of expect my skin to look a little rougher when I'm no longer peacefully sleeping after a nice PM routine. But nevertheless, I wish I could hold onto that morning niceness for longer!I am assuming this is totally natural and just the result of being a living human (much like how many people feel that their body is tighter in the morning but then as the day goes they feel more bloated from simply being a human that has to eat and drink and live). But I just hadn't seen any discussion on it and was curious if others have similar experiences.Do you feel like your skin is at its "peak" in the very start of your day, and then it loses that niceness throughout the day? Do you have any tips or tricks for maintaining that morning freshness for longer?(I don't really mean to force people to feel like they have to discuss routine here, this is more of a general rant/discussion, but in case it is helpful: AM Routine is wash face with just water, then use TO Moisturizing Factors and LRP Antihelios mineral sunscreen. PM Routine is wash face with LRP effaclar salicylic acid wash, exfoliate with stridex only 3x a week. On non-exfoliation nights, I use TO niacinamide after washing. Then finish with same TO moisurtizer.)

[misc] if I break out all the time anyways, then how am I supposed to tell if a new product breaks me out?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I struggle with this so much. I’ve had acne for years, and my breakouts are quite unpredictable. I feel like my acne is mainly hormonal, but also stress and diet related. Add into that trying to find products that work for my acne, and I’m just totally lost. I’ve tried stripping my routine down to the bare minimum: really minimal ingredient cleanser and moisturizer, and using that for several weeks, but even then I broke out because I ... well, just have acne.I know that there’s rules like that a new product will break you out in places where you normally don’t break out, whereas a product purge would be happening in an area where you had acne to begin with, but what the hell are you supposed to do if your acne is spread out across your whole face anyways?

[Acne] the relationship between food, me, and my acne.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
i need some advice — i (16F) want to stick to a virtually carb-free / low GI diet for the sake of my acne. recently i’ve noticed the correlation between carbs and my acne breakouts; namely white bread and instant oatmeal.after watching a ton of youtube videos, i’ve come to the conclusion that my acne is a reflection of my gut health.i’ve been incorporating more yummy healthy meals to my diet (roasted veg, sautés, etc) but i’m struggling to stick to this strict way of eating but i would like to try, without ruining my relationship with food.i’m not looking for any more acne products because i want to address the root cause of my acne and not just its symptoms. i currently have a super simple skincare routine and i use benzoyl peroxide sparingly (i heard you can build a tolerance to it, but it works really well for me).if you have any more realistic and helpful suggestions it would mean a lot! :)ooo! also does anyone have any good results from intermittent fasting? i did it for 3 weeks early last year but i honestly can’t remember what my skin was like.

I think it might be genetic I’ve noticed my aunts have them too. I’m only 20 though and I didn’t always have them. They’re really faint but they are there. I’ve tried the hyaluronic acid by the ordinary and I use the 30 spf moisturizer by khiels every single day along with their avocado oil toner and other ordinary serums. Any advice?

[misc] Is there any evidence that being consistent with using the same products is better for your skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a real problem with buying new products, I just love testing different brands and seeing what works best for me. I get like itchy feet if I use the same products in a routine for too long and just want to try something new. However I find my skin is probably better when I stick to the same things.

[Anti-aging] Are oils aging? Help with understanding an article
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, all. I am a big fan of using oil, such as sweet almond oil, on my face. But I came a cross this article saying that most oils are oxidizing on our skin, which actually may be damaging to skin. What are your thoughts on this article: https://alifeadjacent.com/skin-aging-causes/#:~:text=When%20using%20a%20saturated%20facial,lipid%20peroxidation%20on%20your%20skin.

[ACNE] kind of a skincare noob but can’t deal with my acne anymore, can anyone offer any tips?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all- I [f26] have been putting posting this off for a long time because I’m a bit overwhelmed by skincare but I’m at the point where I need help because my acne is starting to take a pretty serious mental toll.Throughout my teens and early 20’s I would usually have a few zits at a time but I think around spring 2019 when I was 24 my acne decided to change. I hadn’t really changed my routine or lifestyle and have never been to a dermatologist. While I have an oily forehead and nose the biggest problem area is around my mouth.Since then I have tried to improve my skincare routine but I’m not totally sure I’m doing anything right. For the most part it’s the same in the AM and PM. 1.) CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser 2.) thayers unscented facial mist 3.) the ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 4.) the ordinary 100% Plant Derived Hemi-Squaline (AM) / The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil (PM) 5.) CeraVe PM facial moisturizing lotion. I usually use Laneige Lip Sleep Mask or Aquaphor on my lips.1-2 two times a week I use the Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA Peeling Solution. And I try to use the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with apple cider vinegar once a week but I’m kinda bad about doing it consistently. I sometimes apply Clean & Clear persa-gel 10 around my acne and while I’ve been doing it daily recently since I’ve been pretty broken out I don’t feel like it helps. Also, for what it’s worth I actually just bought the Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% but haven’t incorporated it in yet. Also, I do use sunscreen but due to Minnesota Winters plus pandemic I literally never leave the house so it’s not something I’ve been using but will again once the seasons change. If anyone has any ideas, tips, tricks, advice, recommendations- I’m desperate to treat this acne. I recently heard about Differin but am nervous to try it since it’s like 30 bucks lol.Thank you all so much.

[Acne] Tretinoin 0.025% on less problematic, NON acne-prone skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Most reviews I've seen are from people starting off with more oily, acne-prone skin which gets worse before getting better. I rarely see anything about less problematic skin types (like mine, currently), so I wanted to see if others have experienced a 'purge' period and what that was like.I suffered from acne for a loooong time, and finally got it under control in my early 20s. Now, at 25, I have normal-to-dry skin and usually just have a few closed comedones or little bumps under the skin. I very rarely get active acne (i.e., actual pimples), and I do not consider my skin to be particularly sensitive. Does it sound like my skin will be more or less likely to experience a bad purge? Also, because I'm so afraid of purging, I plan to only use Tret in one area of my face at a time. I just don't think I can [emotionally] manage having bad breakouts across my entire face at once (I am traumatized from my teenage years), so I'd rather just deal with one small section at a time until the purge period ends. Has anyone else tried this method? My routine is very simple and non-irritating. I use an OTC retinol (CeraVe) every other night, so I'm hoping my skin is already semi-acclimated to it. The only other active I use is salicylic acid on alternating nights, which I plan to stop while using Tret. Other than that, I use a basic, fragrance-free cleanser, moisturizer and SPF.

Best Bacne busting products/ practices? [Routine Help]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My boyfriend has gotten really into self care recently, and now he’s finally showing an interest in skincare. He’s not quite ready to build his own routine yet (though recommendations there would be appreciated), but he has specifically expressed that he wants to try something that would help with the acne he gets on his back. I struggle with this too and have no go-to product to lend him. He mentioned wanting to try a mask, but any products advice would be sorely appreciated!

[Review] Battling KP? This is my current holy grail product (and it's so cheap!)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://imgur.com/gallery/0FOYJQySo this is heel care cream from Dermal Therapy. Available at Walmart for $10 CAD, looks like it sold at Costco at some point. It's my mom's and I had been using it to treat my sad, sad feet. One day I was looking at the tube as I was applying it and thought huh,I know urea has been recommended before to help treat KP, so I decided to try it after further looking at ingredients and seeing it also contains lactic acid. Lo and behold I am in love with it; it goes on hella thick with a white cast but sinks in surprisingly quickly and doesn't leave my skin sticky (unlike Eucerin, which I tried and absolutely abhor). Alongside my routine of glycolic acid, this cream has really helped settle my arms down which were doing very badly this winter 🙃 they aren't completely smooth but they are so much less irritated and angry looking since I've started using this.Highly recommend, either for heels or KP (or both)!

[Sun care] Korean spfs with correct spf value?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all, so I wanted to ask here about Korean sunscreens that haven't been announced as having an incorrect spf rating. Since Purito was the first one to be pulled into retesting and dear klairs followed and then there were some rumors (not making any conclusions from those, just mentioning for the context) about other brands too, I am really quite unsure whether to be 100% trustworthy or not about the rest of the Korean sunscreens. Were there any posts from other brands that were 100% reassuring that their spf is as stated? Can you guys suggest some Korean sunscreens that are spf 50 with no doubt? I don't want to stir any negativity about the brands here, I am just genuinely curious since I'm not sure if I missed any other info regarding spfs. From all the spfs I tried, my skin really only tolerates the Koreans formulas so I would like to feel protected 100% when applying an spf without worrying that maybe spf is not enough. Thanks in advance for any info!

[PSA] The spray top of the Mario Badescu facial spray bottles fits perfectly on to The Ordinary's glycolic acid toning solution!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was recently researching on this sub about how I can better my overall body routine. I currently use a gentle cleanser, I moisturise everyday + use a Korean exfoliating cloth once a week but I want to be even-toned, smooth and glowing ALL over so there's always room for improvement! I saw this post here whilst doing my research and it prompted me to try find a spray top for my glycolic acid, too. Luckily the first one I tried fit perfectly, and it's from the Mario Badescu facial spray which is something I think most of us have owned at some point LOL. The "stem" part of the spray top (i.e. what the liquid travels through before being sprayed) is longer than The Ordinary's bottle but it just kinda bends around like a snake once inside. I thought I would share this semi-serendipitous finding in case anyone here would also like to be able to spray their AHA :)

[Product Question] Does your Hyaluronic Acid become foamy when applying?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Does any else’s HA (from TO or any other brand for that matter) become slightly foamy on the cheek while applying? It doesn’t happen to me anywhere else on the face, only on the far sides of the cheeks and chin area. It goes away after blending it further, but surely it’s not supposed to happen to begin with. Could it be that my face cleanser hasn’t been completely washed off and some residue remains? But most importantly, will the HA be ineffective due to the slight foaminess?

[PSA] VASELINE/JOHNSONS body gel is WONDERFUL for lazy bones who don’t wanna do the lotion process post shower.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am silky smooth and smell bomb and I didn’t even have to apply it outside the shower and stand naked and cold and miserable. Oh and tryna pull up pants on greasy half wet , half dry skin is just miserable (first world problems I know). But if your a lazy bones like myself it’s literally the BEST thing I’ve ever invested in and it’s like 3 dollars for the aloe baby Johnson’s stuff. After body wash I rinse soap this on as a “body conditioner “ then hop on out and pat myself dry. The gel is extremely hydrophobic so it LOCKS in hydration.

[PERSONAL] My skincare issue turned out be not related to ingredients or the products but something else entirely
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Background - I've been having really super sensitive and burning skin around my lower eye area and in general around the orbital bone. Sometimes it would extend downward to my cheekbone area. Didn't matter what products I used, even plain basic Avene or Embryolisse or even Cica products, it was red, sensitive and burned. At first I thought it was tied to overuse of Retinols or even BHA/AHAs. I cut back on them completely and still had the issue. I thought maybe it was my eczema, so I lathered on occlusives at night and really went to work trying to tackle that as a potential issue. Then I received a product in a beauty box (DHC face wash powder) and I realized that when I used the powder, I could easily wash my face with my hands and running water. I really liked the powder and kept using it for a week. The burning went away as did the sensitivity. I thought it was the product, but again I was wrong.I found my culprit - a microfiber face cloth. Like this one, but there are many brands/types: https://www.sephora.com/product/the-original-makeup-eraser-makeup-remover-cloth-P396033 You know, those kinds used to take off makeup and claim to be soft and sensitive to the skin. After using the microfiber face cloth - the same area around my eyes and cheeks were sensitive, raw, and burning again. I wash the cloths constantly, so I know it's not bacteria, and I rotate them out. I was basically super exfoliating my face while using these. While great for taking off eye makeup in conjunction with cleansers, I liked that I didn't have to bend over the sink to wash my face completely.Going back to bending over the sink to wash off my cleansers remedied the problem. I went back to using an eye makeup remover and soft cotton rounds to help with the eye area when I wear makeup. I found holding a soaked cotton round (with micellar water or eye makeup remover) over a closed eye really helps loosen up the makeup. Also going back to old faithful cold cream has helped too.

[skin concerns] since almost completely stopping skincare, my skin has cleared a lot.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I (17F) had been dealing with a lot of inflamed acne on the sides of my cheeks and a bit of hormonal acne on my chin, with the occasional pimple on my forehead if I went crazy on the sugar 2 days ago. I also had ALOT of blackheads and cc’s on my temples and forehead too.I Skyped my brother and he noticed my acne and of course gave his unsolicited advice (he has perfect skin) and basically said stop using products and only wash your face with cold water at night. At this point, I had tried a million products and none had done anything, some made it worse, so I just thought I’d give it a go. And my skin has cleared up SO much since then (about a week ago now) and I’m only dealing with scarring. My point is, me not using skincare is going to bite me back in the future, but everything I used has not helped or has broken me out. I've tried CeraVe, TO, The Inkey List, Paula's Choice and basically every salicylic acid product out there. Every sunscreen makes me look as if I've dipped my face in a McDonald's fat fryer and even the most gentle cleansers feel stripping on me (apart from 1 which I can't get my hands on atm because the drug stores are shut in my country). I only do a night routine once per week which is a salicylic acid cleanser,TO Glycolic toner (to help scarring) and a CeraVe moisturizing lotion (I hate using this because it's not cruelty-free but it's all that works atm).I know I need to wear sunscreen and I need to moisturize but I really don't know what to do if everything is going to just break me out. Have any of you gone through something similar?

[Skin concern] Dry skin WITH clogged pore? Is my skin even dry type?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
All clogged pore recommendations and products say they target oily skin type. But somehow my dry skin still has tons of clogged pore and sebaceous filament. I’m starting to self-doubt like maybe my skin is secretly oily or like my perception is off. What’s your experience with clogged pore on dry skin? Pls share with me.

[Review] I tried the Hada Labo Perfect Gel and didn't find it quite so perfect
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Skin type is combination/normal.I tried the Hada Labo Perfect Gel because people were saying it was like the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream (my favourite gel moisturiser) but with better ingredients and cheaper. I will say now that I've tried both and they're nothing alike. The Neutrogena sinks into my skin and moisturises it. The Perfect Gel is thick, sits on my skin and does nothing. It's incredibly sticky, like I spread PVA glue on my face.Did I buy the wrong product? Is the Perfect Gel actually aimed at people with a dry skin type? I was under the impression that the Premium line was for dry skin types.I also tried the Gokujyun Milk, and it's much the same. Very sticky and shiny, but sinks in a little better than the gel.Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.I hope people don't get defensive/upset about this. Just because I happened to dislike this product doesn't mean you can't continue to enjoy it...just saying :) Thanks for reading.

https://ibb.co/2M1TSyYThe video is here: https://youtu.be/QeD01g41zII (starts at 05:30)The sunscreens tested are still censored in the video but from what I could make out they were as following (from left to right on the picture)Keep Cool SunscreenIOPE UV Shield Sun Protector XPBioré UV Aqua Rich Watery GelThe last 2 I listed met the claim of SPF50+: they were found to be SPF 58 and 55 respectively (though minor remark: I think I heard somewhere that in Europe a sunscreen has to be a minimum of SPF60 to claim "SPF50+". So in Europe these sunscreens would be rated SPF50? Someone please correct if I'm wrong! Nevertheless it's still good results). As expected the Keep Cool sunscreen didn't meet the claims, and the SPF is not revealed in the video either. They just state it's "not enough/immeasurable", which just makes it sound bad tbh 🥴. Bummer as I was anticipating to find out if the SPF would still be good enough for low UV/indoors use.But yes as she says at the end of the video, I hope this will make brands test their sunscreens more robustly! (and not just Korean brands but worldwide as the issue is not limited to there)

[PSA] Don’t wait until the day-of (a special event) to try out a new mask, product, etc.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
It’s a common thought to think “I’ll save this X until the night before/big day”. Don’t do this. If you have an adverse reaction, it’ll be too late.If it’s a product, always patch test an innocuous spot prior, and test its reaction to your other products, if you think that the ingredients tend to not play nice with each other on your skin. This is your usual rule-of-thumb when introducing new products. If a sheet mask, which may be most common as they are associated with special occasions for a lot of people, what I like to do is to squeeze out a little bit of the liquid and use that to patch test, followed by a full sheet of it (if I have multiples) well before I am planning on using it.
