[PSA] It Might Not Be Maskne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
PSA: It may not be maskneAbout three month ago I had redness and bumps appear on my chin and upper lip that were different from any acne I’ve had before. I figured it was either maskne or contact dermatitis. I treated it how I would treat normal acne but it didn’t get better and when I saw a dermatologist for another issue I mentioned it. Turns out I had developed a form of rosacea that is triggered by mask wearing. I was shocked because I have never had rosacea. Apparently some people can develop this form of rosacea and only have a flair once, for others it can come back. I was put on a new skin regimen and after a few weeks it’s finally fading. I could have started treating it properly if I would have seen a dermatologist once it appeared. Moral of the story, learn from my mistake and if you have an unusual outbreak see a dermatologist if you’re able to because you could be making it worse. Also I am in no way advocating for not wearing a mask, I still wear mine I just had to change my skincare routine to compensate.TL;DR: Thought I had maskne, turns out mask wearing triggered new skin condition.
