Hey, everyone! So Hyram just released info on the first product of his brand, the Retinol & Rainbow Algae Serum, and I have a few thoughts. Would love to hear yours too!!THE PRICE! It’s $30 for 1 oz, and I get that this has rainbow algae and sustainable packaging & ingredients, but it’s still pretty high compared to other retinol serums in the market (e.g. The Inkey List’s $9.99 retinol serum for the same volume). Nothing wrong with a higher price point, BUT THIS IS HYRAM WE’RE TALKING ABOUT!! He alwayysss talks about the importance of having access to affordable skincare but releases a $30 retinol serum? Pretty off brand for me, especially since he talked about offering fair prices in his initial brand launch video.Low rainbow algae concentration? Rainbow algae is a highlighted ingredient for this product, but it’s 3RD TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST! It’s also after phenoxyethanol, which is a preservative with usually less than 1% concentration. This shows that there’s actually not much rainbow algae in there! Again, this is not something I expected from Hyram, being that he’s super ingredients-focused. He’s also had several videos where he has educated his viewers on how to read an ingredients list, so dang. Did not expect this from him.Sustainable packaging and ingredients! Gonna give credit where credit is due, and I gotta say, Hyram went above and beyond for sustainability! Even if I don’t like a couple of things about this new product, I appreciate the sustainable efforts on both sourcing and production. Yay for protecting our home!Overall, this definitely isn’t what I expected from Hyram, but hey, I think the product itself will perform okay, as long as you're willing to pay $30 for 1 oz I guess. What are your thoughts?
