[Product Question] La Roche Posay Cleansers: Toleriane vs Effaclar

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I just bought the Toleriane Purifying Foaming cleanser because I have combo/sensitive/acne prone skin. I noticed that the Effaclar line is also for acne prone skin but I’m confused about the difference between the two cleansers. It also seems like most people buy the hydrating cleanser from the Toleriane line if they have sensitive skin but use Effaclar if they have combo/oily acne prone skin. Has anyone noticed a difference between the foaming cleansers from each line?

[Acne] Why do zits take such a long time to go away (at least on my skin)?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Whenever I get a large singular pimple, it’s red for several days and doesn’t come to a head for almost a week. Then it calms down with some benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid treatment and then it is still bumpy, sometimes comes to a head a second time, bursts and then I put a pimple sticker on it. Eventually the pimple stickers stop picking up stuff and then the red mark is still there for awhile after (I am currently at that stage now after 3 weeks of this pimple on my cheek)All in all, it can take 1-2 MONTHS for singular zits to go away for me. Any way of speeding up that process? Products I use (and no more than 1-2x a day)-Benzoyl peroxide spot treatment -Clearasil cleaning pads -pimple patchesI also clean my face 2x a day and do a clay mask 1x a week.

[Product Question] Alternative to hyaluronic acid?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Currently using The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid. I work from home in Canada, and humidity in my house is usually around 34% or lower. I notice that every time I use it, even though I'm very hydrated, and I use it on damp skin with a thick moisturizer immediately following, after a few hours I notice my fine lines getting worse and my face looks dried out. I've ruled out my other products and it's definitely the Hyaluronic acid causing this. Any suggestions on a different product for hydration/targeting fine lines?

[Skin concerns] Is there anything that can be done to prevent breakouts due to periods?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Is there anything that can be done to prevent breakouts due to periods?Often times when I’m (17F) on my period I get one big pimple on my forehead. It’s never anything severe or anything, but it’s so annoying since i have hyperpigmentation now on my forehead because of these breakouts that my period cause.I take birth control now which i think has helped somewhat since i don’t break out on my period as much as i used to.But i still do occasionally and every time it feels like a step back since my hyperpigmentation does seem to be improving until i breakout.I think i also tend to eat and crave a lot of candy on my period which makes me break out as wellIs there anything else i can do to prevent these breakouts? My routine -Morning: 1) First aid beauty ultra repair cream of my skin feels dry2) Missha Sun Essence green capNight: 1) Micellar water if i have sunscreen or makeup2) Vanicream gentle cleanser3) TO Mandelic Acid 2x a week (using this for hyperpigmentation scars and uneven texture)4) Firsy Aid Beauty ultra repair creamMy skin type is dry.

[Product question] Salicylic acid body wash or salicylic acid lotion for body

Beauty Tips For Body Care
which one would be better for fighting body acne, i’m curious about a SA body wash because i’m gonna rinse it off pretty fast and not sure if i will get the benefits, a lotion will stay on my body over night, so that may help more than a SA body wash?

[Routine Help] What about body skincare?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Most of skincare is focused on facial products. But I have uneven body skin tone (i.e. dark underarms and knees), patchy dry skin on only some parts of my body while others are well hydrated, and sensitive skin prone to redness if I'm wearing tight clothing. My skin also picks up environmental odors very quickly (I start to smell like garlic if I'm at an Indian restaurant, or cigarette smoke if I go near a smoker for two minutes).Where can I start to address these things? I feel like it's so easy to experiment with different facial cleansers, serums, exfoliants, etc. Even with hair there are a lot of options like Prose for customizable hair care..Short of a universally safe body wash like Dove and then slapping on some Eucerin lotion after, what can I do to address my body skin issues?(Note: the only 'experimental' thing I've tried is Glytone exfoliating lotion which helped my ingrown hairs on my legs, but that required tons of online research before stumbling across it).

[acne] Breakup/stress acne breakout help!!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone! I’m 18, I’ve never had super bad acne, I usually have a few little spots that don’t bother me much but that’s it. Right now I’m going through a breakup and all of a sudden I have so so much acne, specially on my forehead, around my mouth, and on my chin (also a big spot on my nose yay I looked like Rudolph on Christmas). Luckily my bangs and a mask cover all these spots, but I’d still like to get this fixed asap (going back to college in 2 weeks and I wanna have a little confidence after all this sadness)I have dry skin, really not oily at all ever, and with it being winter that is even more true.I was getting lazy with my skincare before but now I’m using The Ordinary Glycolic acid toner and neutrogena oil free moisturizer. I also try using clean and clear salicylic acid spot treatment because salicylic acid used to always work for me, but now it doesn’t seem to be doing anything at all. I also have the ordinary hyaluronic acid and niacinamide but I’m not using them right now, if you guys think it’ll help I will. I’m willing to buy anything to help, but also I know just time will help too.Any help is appreciated! Thank you all so much :)

[Routine Help] Vet my routine! Targeting hyperpigmentation

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello! 22F here, dry/combi skin. I’m incorporating some new products into my routine to better tackle some stubborn PIE and even out my skin tone (natural redness around the cheeks), and wanted to seek advice on whether my routine would work. Products with asterisks are new products I’m incorporating into my routine.AM - CosRX Low pH Good Morning Cleanser - Hada Labo Premium Toner - TO Alpha Arbutin 2% - Hada Labo Hydrating Water Gel - SunscreenPM - CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser - TO Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution* - TO Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%* OR TO Lactic Acid 10%* (using 5% rather irregularly at the moment) - TO Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 - Kiehl’s Ultra Facial CreamMy main concerns are about the PM routine. Is it too much? For some context, I’ve always wanted to try AzA but it has always been unavailable on the third party site I get my TO products from (I’m from Singapore). It was recently made available (finally!) and I saw there was a pigmentation bundle that came with AzA, Alpha Arbutin (which I really like, and am also running out of) and the Glycolic Acid Toning Solution. Got the set because the AzA comes in a smaller bottle which I thought would be good in case I didn’t end up liking it, and I thought I could give the glycolic acid toning solution a shot too. Plus I had been intending on RPing the Alpha Arbutin.Specific questions - 1. Is the glycolic acid toning solution ‘strong’ enough that I shouldn’t be using any other acids (AzA or LA - not planning on stacking these two) in the same PM routine? Especially considering that I’m using a rather drying cleanser (it helps with Maskne though!) 2. Is Hyaluronic Acid considered an ‘active’, and can I use it with the glycolic acid toning solution or AzA/LA?Thanks so much for the help everyone!

[SKIN CONCERNS] Is this seborrheic dermatitis or perioral dermatitis or something else?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
About 4 months ago I started getting a really bad red rash around both of my eyes and the very back of my neck. Around month 2 I went to my PCP and he said it was likely dermatitis and have me a steroid cream to use. I only used it for about a week or two because I know how it thins skin. The rash got a lot better but didn’t completely go away. I then only used the cream once every few days if it flared up. I stopped using it almost all together a week ago, and now I have the rash on my cheeks, neck and ears, as well as still some around my eyes. I’m going to make an appointment with the dermatologist, but they’re booked for a few weeks, so I’m wondering if anyone can help me in the meantime. [Anti-Aging] Any advice on reversing what I think is burn damage?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was born with eczema and have been using Eucerin my whole life. I'm working with a friend on creating a regimen, but I'm wondering if there's anything that could be used to reverse really wrinkly hands? The backs of my hands look (relatively) fine which makes me think the issue with the fronts of my hands stem from a second-degree burn I received when I was three (long story short, on a hot summer day I put my hands on a light built into the sidewalk way longer than I should have).PicsI have an appointment with a dermatologist for other issues in a month. Do any of you guys know if there's something else that could be done about this? Thanks!

[Trigger warning] Dog bit face, on accutane. Prevent scarring?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My brothers dog bit me on the face tonight, merry Christmas am I right??? I’m not posting this in r/dogs or r/reactivedogs for a reason, I’m well aware of what should probably happen with the dog but unfortunately it’s not mine and I don’t live with my brother/parents. He’s always been fine with me and I’m pretty shaken up and scared right now, the best I think I can do is leave in the morning and not deal with any dogs for quite a while. I’ll be seeing my derm ASAP and right now I don’t frankly care what gets reported to the authorities. I’m not looking for anyone to tell me the dog should be put down because I’m well aware. I’m just trying to keep my face from being scarred.I’m currently on accutane which is making me freak out so much worse. I have a probably 1/2-1/4” chunk out of my cheek. It’s not super deep, less than an 1/8” I’d say. I don’t think stitches will help much, there’s nothing to stitch. I haven’t gone to the ER or anything, which i know I probably should have as soon as it happened . I know the dog is up to date on his shots so that’s good at least. I washed it for at least an hour with soap and water before I could stop it bleeding. I currently have it slathered in Neosporin, a CVS brand bleed stop bandage, and then a big 3x4” bandage on it. I’m extremely worried about scarring, and it’s making me so nervous cause I’m on accutane, my fifth month currently.I do have a dermatologist because of the accutane, who I plan on calling this week to see me ASAP. I’m sure my family will freak out cause then someone will know the dog bit me in the face, but I really could give less of a f*ck.I’m wondering if anyone has any help for me in the meantime. I’d really like to prevent scarring, I know not letting it scab over will be a big thing which is why I have it slathered in Neosporin. I think in the morning I’ll have to wash off the bleed stop bandage and slather some more Neosporin on it. If anyone has any advice for this I’d appreciate the help.I’ve always loved dogs so if anyone has any help with that too I’d appreciate it, I’m pretty shaken up. This dog has been around me so many times and never had a problem. I just reached down to pet him on the head, I don’t know what I did to make him jump up and bite me. He’s let me pet him all over and never had a problem. I know there’s really no bad dogs, just bad owners but I’m having a hard time feeling like I can go in the same house as a dog again. It happened less than two hours ago so I’m sure it’ll get better but I’m having a hard time right now.I’d appreciate any help until I can get to the the dermatologist. I know Reddit isn’t where you usually go to make yourself feel better but I’m hoping for a Christmas miracle. Thank you r/skincareaddiction 😢

[ANTI-AGING] Lost in the sea of retinol/retinoid/retinal options!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm looking for an OTC suggestion, don't want to go to a doc! I've got my routine down to a point where I really like how my skin looks, so my only goal with the retinol is anti-aging. So what is the best and most cost effective product?I've been using the Cerave anti-wrinkle retinol and it seems like it is doing well, but the fact that it doesn't tell me how much retinol is in it and that it is so cheap makes me suspect it might not be all that effective at preventing aging. The Ordinary has a bunch of stuff but i've heard retinoids may not be as effective. Should I just get like the 1% Paula's Choice retinol? Or am I okay to just continue using the maybe weak Cerave? Help!

[Acne] Reasonable child routine?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My 9 year old is getting clogged pores and blackheads, which makes her very self conscious. I mostly gave her what I use: 1. CeraVe SA cleanser in the shower (every other night) 2. Differin on shower nights (just started) 3. OXY pads for non shower nights 4. LRP cicaplast baume for eczema spots.Nothing in the am.I still have to remind her about deodorant, so I want to set her up with basic habits without much fuss. Are there better products that kids are using now? What’s a better one-step option for non-shower cleaning or mornings (micellar water)? Also would love a zero weight sunscreen- she currently refuses to use any because feels gross.ETA: I don’t mind paying for quality products, if they work.

[Personal] Does anyone else just feel like being done with it all sometimes?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know how the title sounds lol. But what I mean is if anyone else ever just feels like being done with skincare in particular?Dgmw, I love this sub and I've learned a lot from it as far as actives and routines and holy grail products are concerned and I am so thankful that there is a community like this where I can usually come with all my questions and concerns. But after being (semi-)seriously into skincare for a couple of years now, I more and more get the feeling that it's all kind of for naught? At least for me it feels that way. My forehead lines are getting deeper every year, my skin often still has that grainy feeling to it and any "glow" or plumpness a product may provide is usually only very temporary as well. I do feel like I've figured my skin out for the most part by this point but still it often just feels like I'm throwing things at the wall (the "wall" in this scenario being my face) and see what sticks. And countless serums, creams, exfoliators and sunscreens later I feel like none of them make so severe a difference that it's all worth it. The only things that I ever feel like truly affect my skin in a noteworthy way are my age and lifestyle. A week of unhealthy eating and drinking a bit too much will immediately be noticeable, just like a month of healthy living will be visible quite clearly in a way that nothing that comes in a jar ever provides and to be perfectly honest, I get the impression that my skin was tons better a few years ago when I was a vegan yogi and all up in natural skincare when I took off my makeup with castor oil, moisturised with grapeseed oil and wore a daily sunscreen. These days I have all these products that I've seen recommended, I've separated the wheat from the chaff and know what my skin likes and doesn't but it still feels like the overall difference is... well, pretty negligible? And I don't want to offend anyone here who spends so much time educating themselves on this subject and this post even feels lowkey disrespectful to them which is not my intention. I also realise that this post might be downvoted pretty badly but it's an honest question I have been pondering for quite a long while now and just wanted to know if anyone ever feels the same? To just... throw everything out except a moisturiser, a sunscreen and an exfoliator and be done with it?

[Acne] starting to think skincare industry is a big scam

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ive always had combination skin that was oily always except winter when it gets dry. I had mild acne and was prescribed epiduo forte( .3% adapelane and 2.5% benzol peroxide) and used it for years in highschool never saw results. Figured retinol and benzol peroxide didnt work for me so i got paulas choice 2% bha for over few months and all it really did was make more whiteheads around my nose and my sabeacous fillaments on my nose more prominent (like they couldve been scrubbed off which i never did). Then i tried paulas choice azaleic acid booster which helped a little with redness but still got the dame amount of whiteheads .Im at a loss… i dont know what to do now, I dont know who to trust or if my acne will ever get better. I want to try removing maybe dairy, sugar, and refined carbs to see if that affects me but i doubt it (as i am not lactose intollerant and dont notice a difference in my acne around when i eat sugar)Sigh thanks for listening to this rant, i just feel like ive been dedicating way too much energy for my skin and listening to everyone like a good boy and i get the sh*t end of the stick. I wish my skin was bad enough so i can take accutane and never worry about finding the next fake fix again and falling for all these scam thanks for reading

[Routine Help] Finally figured out my skin is dehydrated and oily, not just oily! Now I just need help figuring out how to repair my skin and work on my acne!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Sorry for the plethora ang length of posts lately, but I feel like I have learned so much about my skin in the past few months, and I contribute a lot of it to this sub. So thanks for bearing with me!But I recently discovered that my skin is dehydrated and oily/acne-prone, not just oily! I am 22 and have been using what I now realize to be harsh products for my skincare for years. I was on Accutane when I was a freshman in high school, and my skin only stayed clear for about 6 months afterwards. I used the Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Face Wash for years and it most definitely stripped my skin. I also religiously used the Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Treatment 2x a day all over my face for about the past 4 years (at least) and never thought to stop after I didn't see improvement for some odd reason. I even recently switched to the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, and didn't realize why my skin felt so tight and dry after using it, and then why my face was oily as could be an hour later. Here are some pics from the past 2 days: https://imgur.com/a/6zq2B7jYou can see that my skin is flaky, especially around the nose, forehead, and eyebrows (I also realize my hair and beard are not looking the best right now, but finals just ended and I haven't had the chance to get to my barber!)Here is my current routine:AMCeraVe Gentle Hydrating CleanserPC Pore-Reducing Toner (recently started applying with hands instead of a cotton pad and it seems like my skin absorbs it much better)TO Niacinamide + Zinc Serum (recent implementation about 2 weeks ago and has controlled the oil really well and soothed my skin)CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 (just doesn't moisturize well and is really greasy)PMCeraVe Gentle Hydrating CleanserPC Pore-Reducing Toner (recently started applying with hands instead of a cotton pad and it seems like my skin absorbs it much better)TO Niacinamide + Zinc SerumCeraVe PM Moisturizer (really like this)This post has given me a lot of inspiration too!A little over a month ago I cut out all actives (like using an SA cleanser and the spot treatment) and my face definitely has calmed down and my acne hasn't really gotten worse. It may have gotten a tad better though. I just feel like SA hasn't really done a lot for my skin, and I have never reacted well to BPO.I decided last week it was time to start treating my skin like it was dry, and that started with the cleanser. I went ahead and bought a travel size of the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and my face has responded really well to it so far. After cleansing, my skin doesn't feel tight and dry, but rather refreshed and even has a squeak to it towards the end of washing the cleanser off. I am still open to trying some other, more gentle and hydrating cleanser like the LRP Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser for Dry Skin, so please leave me suggestions! So overall, I need help with what I am going to do about keeping my skin hydrated and my acne. I may just end up going to my derm and getting a tretinoin script, but I'm not sure yet. As for products I am thinking about introducing/using to replace current products:CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser or LRP Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser for Dry SkinCeraVe Resurfacing Retinol SerumThe Inkey List HA Serum or TO HA SerumTO Natural Moisturizing Factors + HAISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel SPF 50+TO Lactic Acid 5% or TO AHA + BHA Peeling Solution (want to simplify exfoliation)Adding a layer of petroleum jelly to my face before bedI really need some recommendations for helping rehydrate my skin, exfoliation, and SPF (which I would like to be mineral). Thank you so much!

[Product question] Is this a fake product ? 2% BHA Paula’s Choice gel

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I’ve been using for quite some time the paula’s choice 2% BHA gel and I wanted to buy another one cuz it’s nearly empty. I bought it on cosmeterie.ch and I’m pretty sure it’s a genuine product. However, this time I ordered on niche-beauty.ch cuz it was cheaper lmao but the bottle is very different to the first one I got :(. No signature on the back. Product was sent without a box, a seal or anything. And the layout is different. There’s a batch code on it but I don’t know where I can check it.Did they change the design again or I have a fake product with me ?Here’s some picture (LEFT is the genuine one ? And RIGHT is the supposed fake one) : https://imgur.com/a/pgxJF2y

[Product Question] What is it about niacinamide that can cause acne? I've been told to use it for scarring and PIE but since I stopped using it my skin became clearer - any way to use it and not get acne?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I want the benefits of using niacinamide for post acne scarring and marks but after I stopped using it a few weeks ago (because I saw a lot of comment about it causing acne) my acne did reduce. What is it about niacinamide that causes acne? I was using The Ordinary's Niacinamide and Zinc solution. Is there a way to use it (maybe just using less at a time?) that doesn't cause breakouts?Thank you in advance :)Edit Could it possibly be used directly on the PIE/scars (and only those specific areas) to reduce them without smearing it all over your face? Almost like a spot treatment but for blemishes?

[Skin Concerns] Body breakout after B12 injection

Beauty Tips For Body Care
All, 32yo Male hoping for some advice (if possible) about body acne triggered by hydroxocolbamin (B12) injections. Background: Was severely deficient in B12 so had several (6 x 1000 micrograms) injections back in July this year over a 2 week period. Everything seemed to be ok and levels came back to normal. Had a follow up injection (just one) in early November and within 2 days, I developed back acne and shoulder acne and some on my chest too (none on face). For reference, I have one or two pimples every so often on my face and rarely one on my back but never shoulders, chest or other weird places like behind my ears and have never suffered from severe body acne or face acne so this has thrown me though a bit of a loop. It's summer here in Australia so I would love to go tonthe beach but too embarrassed at the moment.Treatment: Went to my GP and he said it was folliculitis and gave me a 7 day course of Cefalexin (antibiotic) which didn't do anything. I also bought a benzoyl peroxide body wash (5%) and have been using daily for just over a month but it hasn't made much difference yet. Just started using a Salicylic Acid wash too. Most of the red bumps aren't painful (but the ones around the shoulders are a mix of papules and pustules).I went back to the GP and this time he said it was acne and prescribed another antibiotic (Doxycycline) for 6 weeks (currently 2 weeks in) and said if there has been no change in 6 weeks, he will give me a referral to a dermatologist.Has anyone ever had the same reaction to B12? Should I be doing anything different etc. Any tips, tricks or wisdom appreciated and sorry for the long post.CheersPicture body acne - back

I went to my derm who told me it's best to put a lotion with spf than a moistuzer+spf apart because you can end up diluting your spf.I always make sure to wait at least 10 minutes before putting generously my spf, but I'm kind of worried about what she saidWhat's you opinion?

[Routine Help] Is water enough to wash off BHA/AHA's?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have slightly OCD tendencies when it comes to exfoliants due in part to my very dry, acne prone sun damaged skin.I usually race to the bathroom and wash my face with a soap free body wash or makeup pad, sometimes twice, to make sure I've not let any on my skin. However, this isn't great for my dry skin (or stress levels). Is just water, a 99% water baby wipe, etc enough? I've also briefly looked into acid neutralizer but I don't want to weaken my other products.

[Product Question] What drugstore foaming cleansers would you recommend?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
ATM I’m using the B Lab matcha cleanser but I’m nearly out and trying to avoid making an order from Korea until the holiday shipping surge is over lol. This will also be controversial but I’ve had great luck using regular antibacterial soap after oil cleansing and I tend to use it when I take off my makeup, while I use the B Lab cleanser in the mornings. In the past I’ve used the cetaphyl cleanser and it absolutely destroyed my skin and felt burny when I was using it so I assume I was allergic to some ingredient. I’ve just avoided non-foaming cleansers ever since due to this.My skin is on the normal-dry side so something a bit hydrating is great if possible, but understandably most foaming cleansers tend to be marketed towards oily skin. Also I’m in Canada if that’s helpful.Thank you!

[Product question] Please help me incorporate an ok smelling sunscreen into my routine

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I hate sunscreen. I know I have to wear it but even if I remember I have such a mental rejection of it that I won't wear it unless I'll be exposed to a lot of sun. I know it's not ok for my skin health and I really want to get over it.I've been using the Biore one that a lot of people recommend but even that is hard for me because of the smell. (Note that I am extremely sensitive to smells and lots of things make me nauseous, which is why the sunscreen thing is such a big deal. I think I also associate the smell of really crappy kid sunscreens I used as a kid with any sunscreen and I really want to find something as a start to help me get over that)Is there any sunscreen that smells like truly nothing or fresh (not dusty or anything)? I was considering getting the Glossier one but have heard really bad reviews of it based on it not having accurate coverage but is that something that may be okay to start with? I wouldn't get it if it's truly harmful but if it's better than nothing until I get fully in the habit of wearing sunscreen would it be ok?

[Anti-Aging] Do I need to wear sunscreen if I'm indoors sitting at a desk near a window all day?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've never really thought about this but it recently hit me that I've been sitting by this window in my room for basically all my life and I've never bothered to put on sunscreen because I was indoors, not out doors (also for what it's worth we had some special expensive windows installed that does a bunch of stuff and also blocks 71% UV rays). Am I being randomly worried or should I have been using sunscreen all this time? If yes like do I need to get a strong one or something? Thanks!

[Product Question] Is Johnson&Johnson's baby powder safe to use?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello, só I was recently gifted a Johnson and Johnson baby powder among other things in a baby shower. Knowing the suits against the company about the asbestos traces in the powder and how they caused cancer I was hesitant to use it. I have no idea if the baby powder was discontinued in US or no but in African countries like mine it is used regularly and nobody seems to know about any problems regarding it. So is it safe to use on my skin? PS. My country doesn't seem to have strict regulations so I can't really depend on quality control here + sometimes we receive third world country level quality so I won't be surprised if it was the rejects from somewhere else.If not, do you have any suggestions on ways to use it? I received too many to just throw away and I feel too guilty to regift it.

Skincare recommendations for an airline pilot [Anti-Aging],

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello r/SkincareAddiction,I am an airline pilot and have some unique needs due to my workplace. I spend nearly 80 hours a month in the awful airplane environment and have three concerns: sun exposure, dry air, and dark circles from body clock changes.I'm presently using Lumin moisturizer and cleanser, but I don't like how the moisturizer makes my skin feel waxy. Their dark circle defense product is good, so I will probably keep using that. Lumin for me is really just a starting point because I'm just getting started with skin care.I'm new to the skincare world and could use some recommendations from the experts here for products to use in dry, sunny environments. [Review] Food sensitivity test from Everlywell, thoughts on progress after 4mo (crosspost from r/acne)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I tried Everlywell’s Comprehensive Food Sensitivity Test in August. The product shipped quickly, the test was easy to take, and the results appeared in my inbox a few days later. I never thought a food sensitivity test could also be helpful for treating my acne. I haven’t seen much discussion here about these tests, so figured I’d share some thoughts on my progress four months later.BeforePrior to this test and temporary elimination diet, I had struggled with congestion and cystic acne for years. My skin would be clear-ish for a couple of days, congested with a bump or two, then working through a cystic blob for a while… and then repeat the cycle. My dermatologist gave me Dapsone and Tretinoin, which cleared up my skin … and left it very, very dry.ResultsMy test showed a high reactivity to egg whites, a moderate reactivity to almonds, and a mild reactivity to apples. Everlywell says foods in these ranges “ are good candidates for a temporary elimination diet to help identify your food sensitivities.” So, with that in mind, I decided to cut out eggs and almonds for 30 days.AfterWithin those 30 days, my skin improved a *lot*. No more cystic acne, no more bumps, and less congestion than before. I’ve since experimented with reintroducing eggs and almonds in various forms (e.g. croissants, almond milk), which sometimes resulted in an outbreak and sometimes not. I’m still working on figuring out what I can have and how much.I’d recommend a food sensitivity test if you’re struggling to figure out what’s causing your acne and how to best treat it. I wouldn’t say it’s a perfect science, but I consider it yet another tool in the toolbox that we can use to figure out what the actual fuck is going on with our skin. I’d love to hear from folks who have taken similar tests and how that’s worked out for them.

[review] This cleanser + moisturizer improved my skin texture in literally one night

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have been frustrated with my skin’s progress since beginning treatment for my acne. The retinoid is doing its job, but my skin texture has been AWFUL. Dry, flaky, and it has been super congested. I was using CeraVe’s SA cleanser, but my skin doesn’t respond to it anymore. I was at Meijer with my mom yesterday and came across an all-in-one daily acne scrub by Neutrogena that’s supposed to clear all signs of past, present, and future acne. I used it last night in the shower and was pleasantly surprised to find that it did not irritate my skin, and then I paired it with Neutrogena’s hydro boost moisturizer and went to bed, thinking nothing of it. I washed my face this morning and was SHOCKED to actually feel a difference in my skin texture. It felt exfoliated and smooth, no more congestion or dry skin flakes! There was no change in my acne, but my skin itself certainly felt better. Not bad for a cheaper cleanser!

I use the hadolabo oil cleanser and the vanicream sensitive cleanser which does not cause redness so it's only the moisturizers.
