[Sun Care] Best sunscreen for full body coverage?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm trying to find a high SPF sunscreen that I can use for my entire body. I am very pale and burn easily. I swim a lot. I need at least SPF 50.I already use Biore Watery Essence for my face, but it's not good for full body coverage. Can anyone recommend a good sunscreen for someone like me?

[PSA] Cerave Products Aren't Safe For Fungal Acne
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I switched to the beloved Cerave Cleanser and Cerave Moisturizer after reading this subreddit. I've been treating my fungal acne for months now and it hasn't gone away. Just realized that my Cerave products are sadly the culprit. Both products contain Cetearyl Alcohol which is not FA safe. They were counteracting the treatment.I should've checked the ingredients list earlier, but people loved them so much that I assumed they were good for everyone. People with FA had even recommended these products! To anyone who isn't seeing progress, check your routine for Cetearyl Alcohol.

[Routine help] Advice for insanely oily skin that literally melts makeup off within an hour
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have the worlds oiliest skin and nothing I do seems to help, it’s got to the point where whatever foundation I wear starts to melt off pretty much as soon as I apply it and looks awful in about an hour. I also have quite a lot of blackheads. It’s starting to really get me down and I’d appreciate any suggestions, including any primers/foundation/setting powders that anyone knows work well for stupidly oily skin!I currently use:AM - Biore baking soda makeup remover, Nip and Fab charcoal mandelic cleansing pads, Nip and Fab glycolic acid serum, Inkey list niacinamide serum, Nip and fab glycolic fix moisturiser SPF 30PM - Biore baking soda makeup remover, Nip and fab salicylic cleansing pads, Nip and fab salicylic acid serum, Inkey list niacinamide serum, Cerave moisturising cream,Then once a week the nip and fab salicylic face maskAnd makeup is benefit porefessional primer, mac studio fix powder foundation, glossier wowder finishing powder and urban decay setting spray

[skin concern] I think a product might have made my acne permanently worse?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
When I first started skincare around January of this year, my first products I bought were the cetaphil soothing wash and eczema soothing moisturizer. A couple days later I had the worst breakout I’ve EVER had. My skin looked terrible. I still don’t know which of those products was the culprit but I obviously just stopped using them both. What I noticed when I broke out was that I got acne around my jawline instead of just around my chin where I usually get it. I NEVER got acne on my jawline. My skin eventually calmed down but I still get occasional acne there and I don’t know why. It had to have been caused by that somehow, right? It couldn’t have just been sudden hormonal imbalances, because if that was the case it wouldn’t have only started appearing after the breakout. That just makes no sense. So I’m trying to figure out what is going on and how to fix it but I haven’t found any info about this online and haven’t heard about it happening to anyone else? The acne that I get there is different too. It’s smaller, itchier, and more irritating. It’s wouldn’t drive me as nuts if it wasn’t for the last two things. Do any of you have any idea what’s going on?

[Sun care] Physical SPF for dark skin that has a semi matte or matte finish?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
SPF has become such a headache for me that I just haven't been wearing it lately :/ Every SPF I own leaves me too shiny and most of them are chemical SPFs which I just don't trust any more. I do have a physical SPF that a black derm recommended (Pipette) but it makes me purple and does not sink in.I can't afford to purchase a bunch of SPFs to try out so I'm hoping someone has a good recommendation that's physical, has a minimal white cast, and is semi matte at least. Does that even exist? I've heard some thing about Amavara so I'm curious if anyone can speak to that specific one but any recommendations are appreciated :)

[Miscellaneous] PSA: You have to reapply all types of sunscreens every two hours, whether its mineral or chemical, whether it's in foundation, tinted sunscreen, regular sunscreen, moisturizer with SPF, primer with SPF, etc.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
If you don't reapply, you basically aren't wearing sunscreen anymore after those two hours.I made a post asking for recommendations for a tinted sunscreen that is easy to reapply and doesn't make your skin tone darker when you reapply 2-3 times, and someone posted unaware that mineral sunscreens have to reapplied at all, thinking that was only chemical sunscreens.Chemical sunscreens and mineral sunscreens are the same in their need to be reapplied every 90-120 minutes. Their differences are just in how they protect you. Mineral SPF sits on top of your skin and works instantly, chemical SPF sinks in so it takes about 15 minutes to be effective. If you have SPF in your foundation but don't reapply any SPF products after two hours, you are no longer protected, so if you're looking for a product with sun protection in mind, make sure it looks good after reapplication. If you didn't care about the SPF in the foundation and just like it for the sake of the product, then no harm no foul. And a final word to the wise, you should not be using the "pea-sized" amount you use for serums for SPF. You should be using that amount on each quadrant of your face to achieve the full SPF protection marketed on the product. If you use less, you're likely getting less protection than the number on the bottle.Just thought I'd spread the word for the summer time in case anybody else fell through the cracks in terms of sunscreen knowledge.Happy Summer!

[Sun Care] Review of Paula’s Choice sunscreens
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My skin is oily and sensitive with large pores and some fine lines. All sunscreens were applied on top of First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner.Paula’s Choice RESIST Supper-Light Daily Wrinkle Defence SPF 30Filters: Zinc Oxide 13%Colour: The sunscreen is advertised as having “sheer, natural tint for all skin tones” but I don’t think its truly universal. The level of pigmentation is similar to that of a light coverage foundation, so unless it matches your skin tone, I don’t think it will look natural. For comparison, it is lighter than Australian Gold Fair/Light and is also less pink/peachy. The shade happens to be a very good match for me, however because it is quite pigmented, it looks a bit weird if worn without makeup.Texture: Silky silicone cream that is lightweight and matte. While not as mattifying as Australian Gold, this sunscreen is still more matte than 90% of other sunblocks that I’ve tried over the years. I only blotted once during the day after work, and it still looked great by the time I was washing it off before bed. It also did not peel when I was applying it and didn’t look weird around the hairline or eyebrows.Burning around eyes: Zero.Verdict: Great matte sunscreen if it matches your skin tone and if you wear makeup.Paula’s Choice RESIST Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50Filters: Avobenzone 2.0%, Octinoxate 7.50%, Octisalate 5.0%, Octocrylene 2.0%Colour: Absolutely transparent, not a hint of whiteness.Texture: Milky liquid. Historically I’ve never had a good experience with milk type sunscreens and unfortunately this is not an exception. Like all other liquid sunscreens that I’ve tried, it looks greasy upon application and has to be set with translucent powder. It started looking shiny around 3 hours into the wear and I also noticed that it was settling into my pores and fine lines. It performed better than LRP Shaka Fluid which looks terrible on me after only an hour, but still not good enough to buy full size. Also like with all liquid sunscreens it comes off when blotted with a tissue, so I don’t trust the coverage if I blot.Burning around eyes: There was no burning which is better than LRP Shaka Fluid and most other chemical sunscreens, however when I was washing off my makeup in the evening I noticed a little bit of redness around eyes and nose.Verdict: Performs better than most other liquid sunscreens but that entire format rarely works for me, so it is a low bar.Paula’s Choice Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30Filters: Titanium Dioxide 5.25%; Zinc Oxide 6.12%Colour: This is another tinted sunscreen but the tint is totally different from RESIST Supper-Light Daily Wrinkle Defence SPF 30. While RESIST was so pigmented it looks like makeup, this only has just enough greyish beige tint to offset the whiteness of the physical filters. Because the tint is so transparent, the whiteness still comes through, but at least it doesn’t give that weird lavender/blue cast to warm skin tones.Texture: As the name suggests, the sunscreen is glowy. It is not unpleasantly greasy, but given that I have oily skin, I needed to set it with translucent powder. It is also one of those sunscreens where you need to be very fast with the application lest you end up with streaks on your face. It wasn’t as bad as EltaMD UV Clear where the streaks also peel if touched accidentally, but not cosmetically elegant nonetheless. On top of the streaks, a couple of hours in, I started seeing the sunscreen settling in my pores and fine lines.Burning around eyes: Zero.Verdict: RESIST Supper-Light Daily Wrinkle Defence SPF 30 was a better choice for me in every aspect.Paula’s Choice CLEAR Ultra-Light Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 30+Filters: Avobenzone 2.0%, Octinoxate 7.50%, Octisalate 5.0%, Octocrylene 2.0%Colour: Absolutely transparent.Texture: Milky liquid, very similar to RESIST Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 but more elegant. I still needed to set it with translucent powder after application, but it lasted longer without looking shiny or settling into the pores or fine lines. It also did not look weird around the hairline or brows although I noticed a tiny amount of peeling on the neck where I did not blend it well. It is a kind of sunscreen that looks best when applied quickly but it is much more forgiving than EltaMD UV Clear or Essential Glow Moisturizer.Burning around eyes: Zero.Verdict: Probably one of the best sunscreen liquids that I’ve tied although I still prefer RESIST Supper-Light Daily Wrinkle Defence as it’s more matte and doesn’t peel no matter how it is applied.

[Sun care] [Misc] Any tips on how to clean sunscreen marks off car, purse?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’ve been trying to be better about covering up and wearing sunscreen regularly, not just on my face but my chest and arms as well. I’m pretty fair-skinned and live in a sunny climate where the UV index hits 10-12 on a regular basis. I’ve been using LRP melt-in milk spf 60 on my body and in general I like it, but I’ve noticed white spots on my black car interior and on my black leather purse, where my skin touches them. I’ve touched them up with some dawn dishsoap (I figure if it’s good enough for baby ducks it’s good enough for my purse) but I don’t want to have to do that every day! Does anyone have other recs for sunscreens that don’t do this, or any tips for how to keep my car and belongings clean on the go?

[Product Question] Undereye filler - worth it? Does it actually dissolve?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone,I'm planning on getting fillers for my undereye area because they're so sunken in, and to be honest, my self-esteem is not that good. I always look so tired.Within the past few days, I've been reading a bit before going ahead and getting a consultation (context: I live in Toronto). Some issues I've seen mentioned that concern me are:Needle used instead of a cannulaFiller not really "dissolving"Filler migrating or becoming lumpyBruising that does not go away for monthsSo, anyway, I'd like to hear from you and how things went, what type did you use (e.g., Juvaderm), what qualifications you looked for in the injector ... etc.

[Routine Help] Does anyone have a tinted sunscreen of SPF 50 or higher you like that you can reapply without each layer making your tone darker and darker?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I recently found the Australian Gold Botanical tinted 50 SPF sunscreen and upon first layer it looked fantastic. Perfect for my fair skin tone. But you need to reapply every two hours, obviously, and the second layer looked bad, while the third made me look like I should be on the Jersey Shore with Snooki. Is this all tinted sunscreens? Or just a bad brand? The whole point of sunscreen is to reapply! If I just wanted it for the tint I'd simply wear foundation...

[product question] licorice extract - does it help to fade dark marks?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Does it actually work? I've read on other reddit subs that putting licorice extract on dark spots helps to fade them faster, that it's equivalent (or better, even) than licorice in skincare.

[Product Question] Looking for independent brand recommendations that aren’t owned by conglomerates.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My question isn’t limited to skincare but given the nature of this sub, that is my current focus.Brands / products that I’ve tried so far: - I love Stratia’s Liquid Gold. I tried their Rewind serum but it burned me in the winter. It works for me in the summer though. - I really like Cocokind’s sunscreen and find their matcha moisturizer ok for me. - Timeless CoQ10 and vitamin c - I wanted to adore Kinship but their products didn’t work for me. - Overt’s products didn’t work for me either unfortunately. I kinda want to give them another try though in the future. I tried their EGG, HA, vit C, and peptide serums. - I’m a little put off by Krave Beauty given their lack of transparency with their sunscreen. I did like the Beet Shield though until the protection came into question. I did not like the matcha cleanser or the great barrier relief - I love Ecoslay and Alikay for hair. - I live by Pat McGrath’s liquid eyeliner. My current product wish list: - Dr. Sam Bunting’s Flawless Moisturizer - Stratia Vitamin C / CoQ10 serumWhat else is good? I’m trying to limit what I buy from the big multinational corporations.Edited to add products I forgot.

[Personal] I think my acne has started to make me depressed again.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys,This is a bit of a vent and a reach out to many others who might be struggling with their skin.I (28f) don't remember ever having a completely clear face. Since I hit puberty at 13, my skin started to break out and I was trying to cover it up since then with make up.I then got into college at 18 and I went through a couple of years where I became completely obsessed with the idea of clearing my skin. I saw a dermatologist, but I also went a little too OCD with everything (food, exercise, sleep) in hopes that I can one day have clear skin and be confident in my own skin (pun intended). My skin did get better around that time with the dermo prescription, but what got a lot worse was my mental health. I was obsessed with eating clean and I think I experienced depression. I wouldn't go out and socialise, or go out for drinks with my new friends because I was worried that alcohol might break me out, or that eating food out will break me out, or that I won't be able to do my night routine. I missed out on so much because of the effect that my skin had on me.I then got onto birth control, and my skin began to change. For the years I was on birth control and in a good relationship, my skin was pretty much clear. I eventually got off birth control a couple of years after, and in about half a year my skin started going a bit downhill again.I also slowly started experiencing acne on my cheeks and jaw, while my forehead acne and overall T-zone was clearing up on its own. I remember when I was younger, one of my mother's friends told me that acne tends to travel down with age. You start from the forehead, and it gets to the jaw. I think I'm at the stage where I am battling with cheek-jaw acne and it's honestly the worst kind of acne I've ever had in my life, at 28.It just scars so badly. I'll get 1 pimple that I can see is forming under the surface which will then turn red and inflamed af. If I leave it, I'll have it for a good month and it's persistence will scar me. If I pop it, it will scar again. There's no turn around. If I see this kind of pimple form, I feel like the ground is opening to eat me up alive. I know it sounds dramatic and tragic, but this is the amount of control my acne has on me.I'm currently at my 3rd week of Tret 0.05%. I've seen a big change on my comedones, I basically have none - but God forbid I apply too much sunscreen, or go out and use my facemask. I break out no matter what, and my bigger more inflamed pimples seem to always get worse when I'm on tret. They are SO inflamed and red, and leave the worst hyperpigmentation which takes a good YEAR to go away, if not more. The COVID face masks have been the worst thing for my lower cheek hormonal acne. And this is the thing that I hate most about my acne, it controls my decisions because I don't want to break out. Because of the use of face masks during COVID, I know it will break me out. So I choose to not go out and socialise, because I'm scared I will break out. Moreover, if I do break out badly, I don't want to even look people in the eye, so even more reason to stay indoors. A never ending cycle.I am so sick and tired of it. 2 of my dermatologists have told me to go on Accutane so that I prevent further scarring, and I'm seriously considering it for this winter. I want my life back, or to even start it that is. I never had an issue with anything else on myself. I love my body, my hair, my everything, but my skin... I'd slice it off if I could. My friends and family tell me that my acne is not even "that bad", but I grew up with my family constantly pointing it out. I think my self value is so linked to clear skin. Others might put it on weight, or anything else... mine is skin. And I think what makes it worse is that the average person doesn't know why we break out. They might look at you and assume that you treat your skin terribly, or never wash it, when this is all we do to try to get rid of this thing.I feel helpless and alone, I have the worst skin out of all my friends. I know there is worse things in life, I do. I know that I'm blessed in so many other ways, but I just can't seem to get out of my own head when it comes to my skin. If it's good, I'm happy. If it's bad, I don't want to leave my room. I might just go on Accutane in the winter and be over and done with. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

[SUN CARE] Alba Botanica fragrance free mineral sun lotion review
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I got this sunscreen 2 weeks ago for about $9 on Amazon and have been testing it almost every day.Ingredient highlights: lots of emollient oils, shea butter, 14.5% zinc oxide, 2% titanium dioxideTexture: It's a very thick cream that remind me of heavy paint, and it makes application a bit of a pain since there's so much friction. It doesn't get thinner when warmed up on the fingers.White cast: Straight out of the tube, it's a very opaque chalky white. After working it into the skin (which takes some time), the cast is mostly gone, but it leaves a slight "tone-up" effect on me, which isn't what everyone wants. I think the cast does get better when it sets down.Finish: On me, it's a velvety natural finish: not dewy, not matte either. It starts off quite tacky and sets down eventually. I use a thin layer of moisturizer underneath, and my skin feels moisturized with the sunscreen on. It wears well under the super light makeup I wear (concealer, blush, a bit of eyeliner). It's definitely not bad for the $9 it's worth and is probably better than a lot of sunscreens in the sub-$20 range (in terms of white cast etc). I'll probably use this on my body this summer.

[Routine Help] Middle of the day exercisers, how do you manage your routine?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm wondering if anyone else thinks about this! Quite often on my days off I'll exercise either outside or in a gym in the middle of the day/early afternoon.I want to do my AM routine (below) when I wake up so I have sunscreen on for the morning, but then I always shower after I exercise!Sometimes I "redo" my AM routine after my shower because it's too early for my PM routine particularly if I'm going out later, but I don't know if it's overkill! How do you guys handle this if you're in the same situation? Would love to know what everyone thinks!Currently my skincare routine is as follows:AM:Quick rinse or Cerave Hydrating CleanserIsntree green tea toner (I know I don't need it, it just feels very refreshing)Vitamin C serum (currently using Derma E, about to try Essano as I'm running out of the Derma E)FAB Ultra repair creamLa Roche Posay Anthelios SunscreenPM:Double cleanse with Muji oil cleanser and Cerave cleanserIsntree green tea tonerRetinol 4 nights a week (currently buffering with TO, have differin on standby which I might try soon)PC BHA 2% solution 2 nights a weekNo actives 1 night a weekCerave Moisturiser in the tub

[Sun Care] Sunscreen Review: Cotz, Cerave, Canmake, Blue Lizard, Every Man Jack
Beauty Tips For Body Care
TLDR: The sunscreen I use is the COTZ Face Moisture Lightly Tinted SPF 35 which I have found to work for my fair to light skin tone.I have had a very difficult time finding a sunscreen I can use everyday so I thought I would review the sunscreens I have tried. I have sensitive combination skin but am not acne prone. I have fair to light skin with a warm/neutral undertone.Cerave Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 Sheer tintThis was the first sunscreen I purchased with the intention of using everyday and found it pretty horrendous. The tint is very orange and was not sheer when I used 1/4 teaspoon on my face. Ironically I found the formula to be drying but I think that might have just been my skin reacting to something in the formula.Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV SPF 50+ PA++++This is a combination sunscreen which was very cosmetically elegant. It left my face a little shinny but not greasy. Unbeknownst to me at the time I used this sunscreen I cannot tolerate chemical filters so this made by face itchy and red. I would say that it had a very slight white cast [I bought the clear version] which on fair to light skin is not noticeable. I would caution against this sunscreen if you find yourself sweating on a daily basis. This sunscreen is not waterproof so any amount of sweating while using it will compromise the SPF protection.Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+Although I found the formula non irritating the white cast is very severe . This is not wearable for the vast majority of people who need to go to work or be in public. The sunscreen also pilled by the end of the day despite being on bare skin which I found strange. This works better as a body sunscreen on occasions where white cast doesn't matter.Every Man Jack Face shield SPF 50This sunscreen dries completely transparent on my skin tone which makes sense as it is a purely chemical sunscreen. It was this sunscreen which made me realize I don't tolerate chemical filters as it also made my face itchy and red. It leaves a normal amount of shininess.COTZ Face Moisture Lightly Tinted SPF 35This is the sunscreen I currently us. It is a tinted mineral sunscreen which works pretty well with my skin tone. After initially putting it on it looks as if it will leave a white cast but over an hour it becomes invisible on my skin tone. I will caution that the formula is essentially silicone and zinc oxide so if the silicone texture bother you, you will not like this sunscreen. It is also stays tacky throughout the day which I know some people have an issue with.

[Misc] I love this face sunscreen but it’s a little pricey. After trying to get everything I can out of it normally, I cut it open and put it in and old lip gloss container. Gives me about 2 weeks of additional daily wear. Amazing how much waste there is in beauty product packaging.

[PSA] SPF "duping"
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was planning to ask if anyone has already tried (or will try) Avene's new Solaire UV Mineral Multi-Defense Sunscreen SPF 50+. I really wanted to read a review before I shell out money for it until I saw the ingredients:ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: ZINC OXIDE (12%) INACTIVE INGREDIENTS: WATER, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, PROPANEDIOL, JOJOBA ESTERS, TRIDECYL SALICYLATE, METHLHEPTYL ISOSTEARATE, POLYGLYCERYL-4 DIISOSTEARATE / POLYHYDRIXYSTEARATE/ SEBACATE, NYLON-12, NIACINAMIDE, METHYLPROPANEDIOL, COCO-CAPRYLATE, SILICA, AVENE THERMAL SPRING WATER, SODIUM CHLORIDE, POLYGLYCERYL-2 DOPOLYHYDROXYSTEARATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, BISABOLOL, ALLANTOIN, ORYZA SATIVA (RICE) BRAN EXTRACT, LECITHIN, PHENYLPROPANOL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) EXTRACT, TOCOPHEOL, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF EXTRACT, TETRASODIUM GLUTAMATE DIACETATE, ISOSTEARIC ACID, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE.This all looks great without the silicones that some of us can't stand but I just couldn't get over the fact that Avene claims SPF 50+ with just 12% zinc oxide! I fell into the rabbit hole of online research and finally pulled up this article:The Purito Sunscreen Controversy: what does it mean for the state of sunscreens and what do consumers need to know? | by The Sunscreen Company | MediumIt was authored by the CEO of The Sunscreen Company who decided to respond to the Purito controversy. It's a pretty long read but fairly detailed and it's just really eye-opening.Some important tidbits from the Medium post:If you have 2% zinc oxide in your formula then you can expect it to contribute roughly 3 SPF points to your formula. Inorganic/mineral filters like zinc oxide can be relatively inefficient in terms of SPF protection so you therefore need a lot of it to get reasonable SPF’s and protective UVA Protection Factors. Can formulators improve on the metrics provided? Absolutely. Within the formulators tool kit, things like dispersion techniques, particle size and distribution, coatings etc. can improve the performance of the filter. Your 1% concentration of zinc oxide starts contributing 2 SPF points to your overall formula. Congrats! Can your innovations in formulation technology improve your efficiency by a magnitude of 20x. No!Many sunscreens contain anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories that reduce skin redness. Some of our most beloved ingredients like Niacinamide or Centella Asiatica Extract (both are contained in the Purito product) are designed to remove skin redness. Less commonly known are ones like Bisabolol (derived from Chamomile) and Butyloctyl Salicylate (chemically similar to Aspirin). They do not make them more efficient or effective. Rather they simply mask the biological end point that is used to determine their effectiveness. Duping.Customers do not have easy access to what type of testing was done on any given formula. The ingredient listing of the actives and in-actives are an important source of information for them as the accuracy of the claims on the front of the bottle are called into question. If their given formula seems to include a low amount of filters but has a high SPF and does include ingredients like Niacinamide, Centella Asiatic Extract, Bisabolol, and Butyloctyl Salicylate, then it’s something reasonable for them to question.Avene's formula has niacinamide, bisabolol, and tocopherol which are anti-inflammatories and are contributing to the high SPF value while not providing actual protection from UV exposure. Even my favorite mineral formulas from Supergoop contain butyloctyl salicylate. This is concerning, to say the least and I just find this whole industry frustrating when we can be deceived into thinking we're getting protection that's not actually there simply by spoofing formulas. Are there any brands left that we can trust? Please, help me find them.TL;DR: Sunscreen makers keep lying to us about protection levels. They spoof formulas because we let them get away with it.

[misc] inability to find sunscreen causing agoraphobia
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all. I’ve spent the majority of spring trying to find an SPF that suits my skin. In the process I’ve had 3 allergic reactions and countless breakouts (and wasted cash). At this point, it’s getting sunny outside and I’m becoming afraid to step out as I don’t want to burn over the contact dermatitis. It’s made me really anxious about burning my face/leaving my house - 2 months down the road I have not found one I’m willing to use on my face daily. Not really looking for advice, I suppose just be aware that being addicted to skincare can sometimes lead to unwanted mental health results, as any addiction can.

[Skin Concerns] Contact dermatitis help?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I suspect I have contact dermatitis that appear as these small red patches with a small bump in the middle. When they appear, they feel really itchy (though I don't scratch them), but they aren't anything severe and they usually disappear within a few minutes. The time of day I get them is completely random, and I can't find out which product might be causing it because it my skin doesn't react to it right after application. Does anyone have experience with these red patches? and I would be eternally grateful for anyone that can help me identify their cause. Thank you!A little background on my skin and current routine:oily skinI'm a teenagermy whole routine is pretty simple consisting of: Krave's matcha hemp hydrating cleanser, Paula's choice BHA (0.5% salicylic acid only), Laneige cream skin, and Cosrx's snail creammy routine is fragrance-free and essential oil freebeen using this routine for months already, but I've been having the patches since early adolescencecurrently living in Philippines where the weather is humid and hotlooks similar to a bug bite but the raised center is much smaller

[Acne] What is a great face moisturizer that comes closest to the skin’s own natural oil?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I’m looking for a clean, natural moisturizer that won’t feel greasy and will just feel like its part of my skin without harsh chemicals ? This is for an acne prone skin that’s in its healing phase. My skin tends to be dry after the shower but then very oily after a long day. Any good recommendations for that skin-type ? I’ve used some serums that felt very lightweight but I wanted to consult you guys, the experts

[Skin Concerns] Tips to stop picking at skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! I have a habit of compulsively picking at my skin. Wounds, acne, mosquito bites, etc., none escape my fingers. It's gotten to the point where my skin is basically patterned. Does anyone have tips to break this habit, or at least calm it down? I've taken to sleeping with my hands under the pillows to remind myself not to pick at my face...(sort of a repost, the other one got removed. I think it's because it was missing a tag?)

[PSA] You can sometimes stack CVS and manufacturer coupons in crazy ways, esp with CarePass free shipping. Got Cerave face wash for normal/oily skin, 12 ox, for 99 cents.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This isn't an add for CVS, but I've been able to pick up some halfway decent deals online. With Carepass free shipping, it makes it super helpful because I don't need to actually go to the store to get it. In this deal, the item is on sale for 10.99, so $4 off their regular price. I stacked on a manufacturer coupon for $2 off, then $4 off any Cerave facial product, and another generic CVS $4 off any facial or hair care purchase. In the end, I payed $1.48 with taxes and the shipping is free, for a product that usually runs about $15.It isn't hard to do, either; I didn't manually add up or apply these coupons, it's done automatically if the coupons qualify to stack.

[Skin Concerns] Chemo, Collagen, and my worn out face
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Three years ago I received buckets of chemo. The impact on my skin was drastic. I’m 63 but suddenly my face appeared 75. My chin looks like a jigsaw puzzle of wrinkles. I have any appointment coming up at a derm office that has a medical spa to discuss microneedling, or whatever else they recommend.Any suggestions or words of wisdom? TY.

[Sun Care] SunBum SPF Test and Review
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I contacted SunBum about two of their popular products recently and thought y'all might be interested in the response. I asked specifically for independent lab test results and what year the products were tested. Here's their response:"Thanks for your patience. Here is the info you requested;SPF 30 Mineral Tint: 2019 Avg 36.18 (40min WR), 33 SPF Label ClaimSPF 50 Lotion: 2021 2. Avg 58.05 (80min WR), 54 SPF Label ClaimWith love, SB"I own both both the mineral face tint and the spf 50 body lotion and plan to repurchase the body lotion. The face tint was too dark for me and had an oily texture that sat on top of my skin (and I have very dry skin) plus I have Japanese face sunscreens that are nicer to apply.Sun Bum SPF 50 Body Lotion Review:I've been using this for approximately a month and it's my favorite body spf so far. Packaging is a sturdy bottle with matte wood grain paint. It has a slightly thick cream consistency, I've used thinner body sunscreens before but I think I prefer this consistency because I it gives me more confidence that I'm applying enough. The white color of the cream fades quickly. It smells like coconut but in a subtle way. I think the fragrance is more elegant than the typical Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen scent. I haven't been out in hot long sun because I live in Oregon and it's been rainy but I think based on the response from SunBum the product is doing its job in protecting my skin from UV damage. Pros are the scent is pleasant, it doesn't take too long to rub in and for the white to fade, and the cost it's not terribly expensive for what you get. Cons for some may be the thicker cream consistency if you prefer a thinner or gel like formula. I have dry skin and overall this product helps keep it moisturized and protected.

[PSA] This simple skincare technique & tip made a HUGE difference to my skin ✨
Beauty Tips For Body Care
When washing your face, make sure you wash thoroughly for 60-80 seconds. That’s it. That’s the tip. Many people tend to underestimate the time they actually wash their face, and a majority of people wash for 15 seconds or under. Washing with a simple gentle cleanser over a minute really helps unclog all of the gunk and dirt in your face. Just remember, you don’t need any fancy products or brushes (if anything, over-exfoliating is counterproductive and can leave your skin feeling irritated). Using your fingers to gently exfoliate your skin should be more than enough.I’ve been applying this technique for three weeks and it made a vast difference to my face. I noticed my skin to be significantly more evened out, glowy and radiant I.e slightly reduced breakouts and hyperpigmentation. The product I use is the gentle cleansing foam from Avene.

[Skin Concern] Will I be okay without sunscreen?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Will I be okay without sunscreenI live in my house during the pandemic and I do spend some times near a window. I don’t really go outside, as most of my work is done inside.TW: In all honesty, I’ve been dealing with some health issues and severe depression. I’m trying to take care of my life as well as my skin but in all honesty I skip sunscreen just because I’m trying to do the bare minimum to get through the day. However, I’ve been seeing so many warnings on this sub, and it’s kind of scaring me into thinking that I’m really going to end up ruining my skin if I don’t use sunscreen constantly. Will I be okay if I continue my routine the way I am?

[Skin Concerns] The Ordinary peeling solution on underarms
Beauty Tips For Body Care
This is kind of weird and I don't know if it will help anyone. I recently waxed my underarms and saw that I had flaky skin (I always have dry skin on my underarms) and ingrowns. I didn't know what to do and decided to put the ordinary's AHA BHA peeling solution on my underarms for 10 mins. It's the next day and my ingrowns are all gone!Hope this helps someone

[skin concerns] Dull, dehydrated skin with large pores and closed commedones
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been so unhappy with my skin lately. I deal with hormonal acne along my jawline and closed commedones on my cheeks and chin area. Aside from that, I have huge noticeable pores, my skin always has a dry and dull appearance and I have random freckles/sun spots that make my face look dirty.See photo https://imgur.com/a/pJnakWJHere is my routine:AM:- Cleanse with Cerave Hydrating cleanser- Inkey List hyaluronic acid- La Roche Posay Tolerane Sensitive Creme- La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 60 sunscreen or Vichy Soleil Ultra-Fluid SPF50 sunscreenPM:- Double cleanse with Bioessence cleansing oil- Followed by Cerave Hydrating cleanser- Paula's Choice BHA exfoliant (3x a week)- Paula's Choice AHA (1-2x a week)- Inkey List hyaluronic acid- La Roche Posay Tolerane Sensitive CremeI also use Paula's Choice retinol 1x a week. I have sensitive skin so I stick to gentle products (aisde from the chemical exfoliants which I need)Does anyone have similar skin as me and was able to combat the visible pores, closed commedones and dull appearance?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Paula's choice has a 20% discount on all products today in the UK and I'm in need for a new cleanser. I have cog-prone alone (lots of tiny bumps/closed comedones and quite a few blackheads) but not oiliness.I have normal-ish skin really; sometimes dry. Which one should I for?

[PSA] La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 has been DISCONTINUED.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
LRP (EU) have had a 25% off sale for a while now and I always wondered why I could never find the Cicaplast Baume and just thought it was out of stock so I waited patiently but it never came back. So I messaged them (LRP ambassador via live chat) today asking when it will be back in stock and this is what they said:“Unfortunately, the Cicaplast Baume B5 has been discontinued, I do apologise for the inconvenience.”I then asked why I can still find it in some shops and other websites and if it was just leftover stock and they said this:“Yes, unfortunately, that is correct. Yes, that would be remaining stock and when it sells out it will not be replaced. “Lastly I asked what was the reason for it being discontinued and if it’s being reformulated and they replied:“Unfortunately, the reason has not been disclosed to us and we are not able to say if or when a product will be reformulated and reintroduced, I am sorry about that”Absolutely devastated!!! Just stocked up but very sad since this is the only thing that’s been helping me repair my moisture barrier :(

Do you want to stop buying new items entirely? Are you only allowed to buy a specific product? If you want to dig a bit deeper, you can share WHY you want to do this. What's your motivation? There will come a point in this process where you want to cave, so formulating a clear reason about why this is important to you will help you stick to your guns. [Sun Care] This might sound weird, but do you all oil cleanse the SPF off your body?!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I feel like there’s so much sunscreen residue left on my body after I shower and it just feels so icky, so I was wondering how you wash off your body sunscreen to avoid being left with a film on your skin...?I just use a normal bodywash (currently using Necessaire but I rotate between that, Aveeno, or Fresh) and clearly they don’t seem to work well enough! So do you exfoliate your body? Use a shower pouf/lufa? Oil cleanser?Share your body routine because I need some guidance lol!

[research] How do bleaching creams know the difference between hyperpigmentation and your natural skin tone?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
What is the difference between pigmentation acquired due to inflammation vs your natural skin tone? Why do hyperpigmentation products only work on hyperpigmentation and not on your natural skin tone? I thought that the melanin cells are the same. Please note that I am only asking this question out of curiosity and I don’t believe in lightening natural skin color.

[Acne] Trying to find a new cleanser for closed comedones that isn't too stripping
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi, this is my first time posting here, so thank you for reading this.Im currently using hada labo gentle hydrating foaming cleanser, but I'm starting to run out of it and want to try something new.I have been using it for almost a year and even tho I like the way my skin feels when using it, it does feel sort of stripping if I don't use it over the l'oreal makeup remover (after I take off my makeup in the evening I use the cleanser right over the makeup remover). This way my skin feels fine. But whenever I don't wear makeup and try to use the cleanser my skin starts to feel tight and sort of dry. Also I tried using the hada labo skin plumping gel cream and it broke me out. I tried using it for about two months and the breakouts never went away. As soon as i switched back to my previous face cream my face cleared up to the way it was before. So I'm worried that the cleanser might have a similar effect on my skin (Can't remember if I had closed comedones before using it as only really noticed them a couple months ago).So I really want to try a new cleanser. I guess it would have to be very gentle and could help with the closed comedones I have on my forehead. I've been using a BHA in my routine lately. Now when I'm looking for a new cleanser I don't want the ingredients to clash. A lot of the popular cleansers also have BHAS and AHAs, and I don't want to compromise my skin barrier.Ps. English isnt my first language so sorry about any mistakes. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer.

[Sun Care] Is double cleansing necessary after wearing just sunscreen?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don’t wear makeup but I do wear sunscreen daily... is just one wash with a regular foaming cleaner enough to get the sunscreen off and properly cleanse my face? Should I be doing a double cleanse with an oil cleanser every day?

[PSA] Benzene, a known carcinogen, found in 27% of Tested Sunscreens
Beauty Tips For Body Care
A recent test found various brands and batches of sunscreen and after-sun care products contained benzene, a known human carcinogen. The benzene found is not a result of the filters themselves, but rather a contaminant in specific batches of sunscreen. This isn't fear mongering from "chemicals are bad people." There is no safe level of benzene, and it can be absorbed through the skin. If you have any of the suncare products with benzene detected, please opt for another kind! You can check if a sunscreen you have has been found to have more than the allowed benzene here.A dermatologist on TikTok has a quick video explaining what this all means.

[Sun Care] Dermatology times article about carcinogen benzene found in sunscreen products
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I found this study today that found high levels of benzene in some sunscreen and after sun products. Most of them are spray which I know isn't super popular here but there are some lotions and even EltaMD products on this list. Good information to consider so you can make an informed decision about what you're putting on your skin! Dermatology times link with list

[Skin Concerns] Looking for advice on facial scars from an auto accident.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I got into an auto accident as a teenager and hit the windshield. I have some deep scars on my forehead and a couple smaller ones on my left eye, but on my cheek, there's one long raised scar. I have gone to a few different surgeons and they recommend cutting the scar to make it smaller, but I don't want to go through that process again. It was a hectic time for me the first 2 times (they did it a few months after the accident to try to reduce the thickness). As for my eye, they can't guarantee that it'll heal properly and my eyes will most likely be different sizes or droopier on the left.Sorry if I'm all over the place - I get a bit self conscious we hen I talk about this. But I would really love some advice for some great skin care products that could help me reduce the appearance of these. I can post photos if it helps!

[Skin Concerns] I FINALLY found a solution to improve the seborrhea dermatitis on my scalp.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I been suffering from pretty severe plaque and flaking on my scalp for the last 8 years. I also have some mild OCD, so I pick at it a lot. I would have big chunks of flakes come off and get stuck in my hair, so it was difficult to keep my hair clean. My scalp was sore and scabby from it. Pretty embarrassing I've seen doctors and a derm for this, and tried anti-fungal shampoo, topical steroids, and anecdotal solutions like honey, salt water, MCT oil (which stinks something awful) and other expensive solutions. It either didn't make a difference, or made it worseSomeone on the sebderm forum said a chlorine filter on their shower helped. I ordered a simple one from Amazon, which I installed a week ago. A week later, the sebderm has gone from pretty severe to mild. Nothing else has worked even close to this well. I recommended it to my mom, who also has it, and I think I will get one for my dad, who has psoriasis.

Sun safety can help us enjoy outdoor activities more and for a longer time [SUN CARE]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I feel like promotion of sun safety can get a bad rep, and I understand how some can find all the tips online too preachy, or people feel like they are being told not to enjoy life. But here is how we can try to look at those tips. They can help you enjoy your time outside even more imo!Sunglasses: no more straining your eye muscles, better experience looking aroundHat: very similar, prevents the sun from blinding you, no heatlamp feel on your face that you get with just sunscreen, so you can observe the world on your adventures more comfortably!Covering up: honestly, I understand that long denim clothes may seem hot and horrible. But give it a try once. They can be surprisingly cool AND they prevent that annoying heatlamp feel you get if you rely on sunscreen. Upf clothing is also nice, I hope to get my hands on something lighter and cuter!Chilling in shade, reading or talking is very relaxing and we can all agree it's very nice.Spending a lot of time outside midday can make you very exhausted, dehydrated, can give you a headache etc. So it's actually nice to take a walk late afternoon, the golden hour is so pretty, the grass can look floursecent even. And the beach! Midday is just so hot and crowded, but evenings there hit different. Mountain sunrises/sunsets hit extra different. Also I didn't talk about sunscreen because there are already a lot of posts about it and we all know how to use it.
