[Sun Care] what is your favorite everyday sunscreen for your body?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I would like an everyday sunscreen that offers both uva and uvb protection and has a pleasant scent and is moisturizing enough to apply after getting out of the shower. Any recommendations?

[Product Question] Under the Radar/Local Holy Grail Products

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Does anyone have a holy grail product that is made by a small company or under the radar brand?I found a moisturizer made by a local architect over the past few years and I'm hooked... nothing else does it for my dry skin. Does anyone else have a HG made by an "unknown" or atypical brand?edit: This is my local/under the radar HG product; I have dry skin with hormonal acne

[Acne] Tiny bumps from being out in the sun, is this even acne?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
http://i64.tinypic.com/4r49xy.jpgSo while most of my acne is on my cheeks and chin, for whatever reason my forehead remains nice and smooth nearly all year long, except for during the 4 warm months we experience in the climate where I live. Basically as soon as it gets sunny and I spend any time in the sun, I get a million little bumps on my forehead, as pictured above. They don't hurt, and they're barely visible from afar. They're not red, they don't produce whiteheads. They also heal relatively quickly on their own if I avoid the sun for a few days. My forehead can be smooth one day, and then BAM turn into this a few hours later. It's also much worse in hotter climates. I went to Japan one summer and basically my whole face became like this. My Japanese friend told me she didn't think it was acne.My routine is currently Am: cerave foaming, Paula Bha liquid, cerave am lotion spf30 Pm: cerave foaming, Bha, cerave pmI tried Paula's 7% aha and it broke me out terribly even after only using it a few times a week for a few weeks. I don't think it is purging because I was getting inflamed acne in places I don't usually get them, almost instantly. My skin has been clearing up consistently with this routine, does not feel dry or tight, and does not get oily slick in the middle of the day like it used to with previous routines. It feels calm and not irritated. My question is this: is this a heat rash? Is this acne? Is there a product that can prevent this from happening? It doesn't even produce discoloration but the texture is so awful up close :( putting makeup over it looks terrible as well, makes it more apparent of anything (I very rarely wear makeup but even if I were to try)

[Product Question] Sensitive skinned peeps of SCA, What are your three desert island products?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm always looking for great new products when my skin is feeling or looking blah. I don't have any major skin concern right now, but I'm interested in the products that you can't live without! Especially if you've settled on. Particular brand. Mine are sunscreen (currently using Neutrogena DryTouch SPF50), cleansing oil (my favorite to date is Tatcha's), and a facial spray for planes/hot days (my favorite is Caudalie's Elixir.)

[Product Question] Cheaper Alternatives to Murad Oil Control Mattifier?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all, I lurk occasionally but don't post a lot, so it's nice to meet you all :)I have oily and sensitive skin, in such a way that without any product in the morning I would be slippery and shiny on my face by mid day and any bit of stress would send me into acne oblivion. I've been using Murad Oil Control Mattifier with SPF 15 for a long time now because it was the only moisturizer that I could find that didn't make me break out immediately after. I use it both in the morning at at night time, and a tube runs me about $40 and lasts probably 2-3 months. I was wondering if anyone knew about any other cheaper moisturizers out there that kind of acts like Murad or really just anything that has worked well for people with oily and sensitive skin. I'm generally hoping to find something up to about $30, but anything that's a good bang for the buck is good for me.(If it also helps, I use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser in the morning and the evening, Algenist Triple-Action Micropolish and Peel once or twice a week, as well as some Sephora face masks once or twice a week.) Thanks <3

[Anti-Aging] I need recomendation for Vitamin C Serums that won't cost a kidney.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi! My dermatologist recommended I start using vitamin C serums to reduce wrinkle lines, and coincidently my Sephora Play for that month gave me the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum and I LOVED IT! Saw some improvements already and would love to keep the Vitamin C routine. The only problem is this serum is SUPER expensive, and so is the Drunk Elephant one. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good Vitamin C serum that won't break bank while still giving me results.

[Product question] Has anyone tried SwimSpray as a vitamin C serum?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was Googling chlorine sensitivity because I pretty much can't go swimming any more and I suspect my skin's dryness is related to my city's highly chlorinated water. I found a product called SwimSpray (I won't link in case this get spam filtered, but you can Google) that is $12 US for a 6 oz aerosol can of what is apparently "just vitamin C" used as a chlorine-neutralizing treatment for skin and hair. The website says that "SwimSpray is packaged in an air-free environment, which enhances its shelf-life and stability. SwimSpray is very concentrated and is effective for at least two years without any decrease in performance." (It is an aerosol can so it wouldn't get exposed to air when you use it.) And "It may turn brown or yellow over time. Here, we make sure to include plenty of vitamin C, so that even the small amount of degradation that causes the amber/brown color does not lessen SwimSpray's effectiveness." There's no % active ingredient info, and I'm skeptical of the shelf life claims. Maybe emailing the company would help here.My questions are:Does anyone know if vitamin C actually has this chlorine neutralizing effect? Is this more cost effective than a vitamin C serum? It seems that way.If so, would it be worth it to use this instead of a vitamin C serum (assuming the alternative is not using vit C at all)?Do you believe what it says about shelf life?

[Miscellaneous] People should be taught about skincare at school.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Every day I see people on here who are suffering immensely, and I can't help but think that so much of their suffering could have been prevented, or lessened, if they had known from a young age how to react to problematic skin. I am by no means saying that skincare is entirely down to a routine, and in no way am I saying it's the 'fault' of the individual, of course it's hugely genetic too, but I think it helps a hell of a lot to know about solid skincare routines. Our faces are what people first see when they look at us, and it is integral that we are able to face the world confidently each and every day in order to be happy and healthy people.Personally, my parents never knew much about skincare, which meant that when I first got acne I never knew what to do, and it was soon out of control. I know this is the case for many others and if we had some kind of class, even just a literal one off health class related to dermatology, so much suffering could be prevented. Kids should be given the knowledge of what a basic skincare routine looks like, and knowledge of what to buy and who to see if their skin begins playing up. Schools could even have a stash of Benzoyl Peroxide (?) to help out those who can't afford it? (Maybe some already do this)Skincare is not vanity, and I believe strongly that the stigma that it is needs to be gotten rid of, so that many more people can get the help they need. SCA is a seriously wonderful resource, but the fact that there are hundreds on here asking for, let's face it, potentially dubious Internet advice (no diss, just being real), suggests that we are facing a real lack of skincare education somewhere along the line. Do you guys have any thoughts on this?

[Review] Mini Review of The Ordinary...

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone! I've been on a few TO products for about 3 weeks now and thought it would be a good time to share some thoughts since I've definitely seen some major changes.I've never had super bad skin, only the occasional zit, but I had lots of blemishes left over from the acne that never seemed to fade, plus bumps and stuff on my cheeks and forehead, and was going for clearer, generally "nicer" skin. My skin is oily, but also needs a good amount of hydration as it gets dehydrated fairly easily. Overall, ill say that I've been incredibly happy with the results from 3/4 products I've tried! At the moment, I've been using them daily, but only in the PM. I added them in with a few days in between with the order below.Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Oh my gosh. I LOVE this stuff. I've heard a lot of complaints about this being sticky and not absorbing but I don't find that in the slightest, it's easy to spread around and is dry to the touch in 30-45 seconds. I love how hydrated and plump it makes my skin though, I used to have problems with my face being dehydrated in the mornings unless I literally slathered myself in moisturizer before bed, but not any more. I would definitely consider trying this out in the AM as well to see if I could get away with less moisturizer under makeup. I noticed results with this from the first time I used it, and I highly highly recommended it.Niacinimide + Zinc This was the one product that didn't work out for me. I've heard that either people love it or it breaks them out horribly, and unfortunately I was in the latter. I spot tested it first with no bad results, and used it for a week completely fine until I started getting awful, painful zits in places I never get them (chin, nose, cheekbones). As soon as I stopped using it and spot treated for a few days using a 2.5% BP, they disappeared. I tried it last night again after two weeks without it and it burned literally on contact, had to wipe it off immediately. Also while I was using just it, I got my eyebrows waxed as I normally do, and I guess due to increased sensitivity I tore the skin from the entire underside of one of my brows? Yeah, not pleasant. Gonna let my sister give this one a try in case it works for her though.Alpha Arburtin + HA This stuff has worked MIRACLES on my blemishes. I never used to even run errands without base makeup and being away atm, I haven't worn foundation once. Though it's not completely gone, it's faded so much, and I can hardly believe how clear my skin is looking. It was a bit slow in the beginning, but I think that adding in the azelaic acid is what kicked it into gear. I've used this every night and it's just made me so much more confident in my skin in such a short amount of time. Absolutely recommend it if you're struggling with pigmentagion.Azelaic Acid Suspension The final incredient to this skincare concoction. Again, a definite recommendation. I haven't been using it as long as the others, and I've used it more every other night than consistently, but it's worked so well in bringing down the small bumps and texture on my forehead and nose especially. The texture is definitely off-putting as it sort of dries on the skin and is hard to spread on evenly, and the tube probably won't last too long because of that, but the effects are super worth it. It's also really mattifying, and I'd for sure consider trying it out under makeup for oil control. So all in all, my current routine is:AMPixi glow tonic (to wipe away all the gunk from the night before)Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Water Light SPF 60 (been trying this out, not a fan)MakeupPMMakeup removal with Garnier Micellar WaterCleanse with cetaphil, twice weekly with ClarisonicTO Hyaluronic AcidTO Alpha ArburtinTO Azelaic Acid SuspensionLush Celestial MoisturizerAlso, I have to say that shipping was crazy, I placed the order close to 8 pm Sunday night, and it was literally in my mailbox Monday morning at 10 am. Granted, I do live in Toronto where they're based! Plus, the packaging is great, I've been away for the past couple weeks and it's been so easy to travel with since the bottles are so compact. Of course the downside is that they don't come with a lot of product, but I'll probably only use these consistently til my skin clears up completely, then switch back to a simpler routine and keep them just for flare ups and breakouts.Anyway, I hope this might be helpful to someone interested in any of these! This was my first time using actives other than a BP gel for spot treating, and really loved that I got to test it out really easily while not blowing a million dollars. Probably gonna do another order for the Argan Oil (use the wayyy overpriced stuff right now for hair lol), Caffeine Solution, SPF (when it comes out), and the Serum foundation!Edit: a word

[Product Question] NIOD CAIS vs Mizon Peptide 500

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Given the high expense of NIOD CAIS, I was wondering if anyone has tried both of these peptide serums.NIOD does give an exact percentage of 1% for the Copper Tripeptide-1 in its CAIS serum. http://niod.com/product/copper-amino-isolate-serum-1pct-15mlMizon, on the other hand, only gives a total percentage of 45% for all the peptides in the Peptide 500 serum. That being said, Copper Tripeptide-1 is the first listed ingredient after water. http://eng.mizon.co.kr/product/product_detail.asp?v_ProdNum=3320&v_prod_CateNum=0 https://www.peachandlily.com/products/peptide-500If Mizon's works close to as well, it would be a great, cheap dupe.

I've been searching for the best sunscreen for me for about 2 years now probably? A hella long time anyway.I've tried Asian favourites such as most of the Biore (Watery, Milky, Juicy, whatever) range, and then western ones such as LRP (Anthelios), Bioderma (Aquarich), Elta MD (UV Clear) the list goes on. My current solution is the Korean "Hera Sun Mate Leports SPF50" and this is great, apart from it makes me incredibly shiny - and not the "Oh wow that dude looks dewy and cool", its "Oh wow that dude looks hella shiny is that PVA glue". I suppose I can't really blame the sunscreen as its a pretty heavy one intended for sports use but I haven't really found an everyday alternative. Oh and another twist of the knife, I'm UK based and the buying potential here is appalling.Any hidden gems I haven't tried? I know for a matte finish I'm probably looking at something which does contain some alcohol in it, and I think I'd be ok with that.tl;dr, looking for a Physical, non Glycol, non fatty alcohol, non perfumed, non shiny, high spf, matte finish Sunscreen

[Routine Help] Pigmentation due to backne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have really bad pigmentation due to backne. It's thankfully dried up but the marks are still there and it makes me very self conscious. Currently, I use a "bleaching" soap and "bleacing" toner my dermatologist gave me but I've moved countries and it would be difficult for me to go see a dermatologist now. This routine has worked in the past but I've been on the Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation wiki on ScA as I want to maybe speed things up or look at trying a more effective routine. I was just wondering if there are any products any of you out there are using to deal with this? I have also looked at The Ordinary products and I'm wondering if any of you are using that to deal with backne? It's literally my whole back and so quite hard to spot treat so I usually just try and slather everything on as a whole. I don't live in the US so some products may be hard to get but if it is effective I wouldn't mind investing in them.Oh and as a side note, some of the backne has dried up but have left little tiny bumps which is annoying cause they are basically dried up. Any solution to this? Thanks!!

[Routine Help] [Review] COSRX 10 Step Skincare vs any other packages? Beginner here!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Looking for a full skincare package that won't break the bank. Looking at the COSRX ones ($200 for 10 products is about $20/piece, plus a 10% off coupon, covers AM and PM).Are there any alternative brands/packages you recommend? I figure once I run out of the COSRX I can start to research alternatives to each step if I didn't like theirs, and evaluate if I need certain products or not.So, which package of COSRX should I do (details below), or do you know of any others?I currently use makeup wipes/a Norwex washcloth and sometimes moisturize. Sunscreen is only worn in direct sunlight. I have been bad! This will be a big change, but I want to take my skin from bland with some issues, to fab.Issues: Skin is somewhat sensitive. Was acne prone before starting the pill, now just get the little cosmetic bumps (I want to stop wearing face makeup once I start skincare, although I might still wear light makeup if my new routine helps a lot). Redness in certain areas. Dark undereye circles and puffy eyes. Combination skin, mostly dry.I live in Colorado, which is dry always, sometimes hot, sometimes very cold.Thank you!

[Personal] Am I the only one here who is so paranoid about germs that I can't do other things during my skincare routine?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
For example, I know that I should let my skin fully dry before applying retinoid and that I should let it fully absorb into my skin before applying moisturizer after it, but I can only wait for a maximum of maybe about a minute before I move on to the next step of my routine. I get too impatient, and I can't understand how people say they just do other things while waiting for 20 minutes and then they apply their next layer, like what about all the stuff you just touched doing other things? I know I can just wash my hands again, but I don't want to wash my hands 3-4 times just to put some stuff on my face because it's a waste of water, a waste of soap, and really drying for my hands. Also I cringe so hard when I see people on YouTube doing their skincare routine while reading comments or stuff on their phones, like that's really disgusting. I never touch my phone AT ALL after my evening routine (unless it's an emergency) because I know how disgusting my phone is and I don't want any chance of touching my face while I sleep after I've touched my phone. Maybe I'm just being unnecessarily paranoid of contamination because my acne-prone skin still breaks out after all these precautions while my cousin with normal-type skin doesn't really give a shit about that stuff rarely breaks out.

[Personal] Have had extremely chapped lips for over two weeks and won't go away :(

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I recently moved back home from school and three weeks later I got a cold. After my sinus congestion went away, a day later I woke up with extremely chapped lips and have had it since. I first used my chapstick of burts and bees but have stopped using and started to use petroleum jelly. The petroleum kind of helped just to keep my lips from cracking more but that's it. I'm just really frustrated because my lips have just been extremely painful with cracks occurring and even one on the side of my mouth so it hurts to open all the way. They also have been very itchy and red and it just looks gross and embarrassing. Just yesterday I was in summer school and I couldn't reapply the petroleum jelly so my lips were drying out and becoming itchy, I felt this liquid come out all around my lips but it was a clear liquid. I had gone to the doctors a few days ago but all he said was that I had chapped lips and i probably got it when I had the cold in which I could have been breathing through my mouth. So I'm still back to having chapped lips but I've bought this chapstick called aquaphor just yesterday afternoon and it seems to be working okay, my lips weren't as bad as yesterday but they're still pretty bad :( I'm just at a lost of what I can do to fix my lips because before getting sick my lips were perfectly fine even when I was at school in SF (live in LA). Please help :(

And by cadavers I mean formaldehyde-preserved donated bodies to be used in medical research/learning. If you have any experience in medical school, PT school, and nursing school (probably, I'm not sure about nursing), and/or have done any kind of human anatomy dissection before, BR p50 1970 SMELLS EXACTLY LIKE THAT.I was warned that it smells "bad" but I did not expect it to take me straight back to first year med school anatomy lab.Whatever it works amazing. I'll probably switch to the "new" formula after I finish this bottle.

[Product Question] Who believes in NIOD?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
As someone who "left" luxury skincare after discovering the obnoxiously high margins, and becoming disillusioned with the industry as a whole, The Ordinary was an exciting breath of fresh air. Based on actual, peer reviewed science, using ingredients that are widely agreed upon to be extremely effective.I thought I was continent, and then I found out about NIOD (Deciem's long-term goal, I'm sure). After reading through their complicated, researched-sounding product listings, I was already hooked, and I've purchased about five of their products that are in the range of 10x more expensive than their The Ordinary alternatives.I am now left wondering, did I just get swept up in yet another luxury marketing ploy, or is there any legitimacy to NIOD's claims. From what I can tell after doing some of my own digging, the ingredients in their products range from some research to none.It kind of feels like they took the copper peptide product (which does have a "medium" amount of research), and built a brand out of it to only bring out a bunch of other products with much less research (hoping that their customers would assume these other products have as much actual research behind them).I'd love to proven wrong by someone who has done more research than me. I want to love NIOD, but I am forcing myself to re-evaluate and not get swept up again in another marketing campaign for snake oil.On a side, I find it really disingenuous that Deciem insists that their margins are consistent and "fair", but then sell the Hylamide Booster C25 for $33 and the NIOD Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid 30% Network for $70.

[Misc] The lowdown on Caroline Hirons - WHY and HOW did she become such a revered skincare guru?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Anytime I see someone post about her on Instagram - it's total and utter adoration. She's regarded as skincare royalty. My question is why?? And how?? Not to be mean (honest!), her skin isn't the best. She often recommends this Tata Harper eye cream and her eyes are... not exactly the best advertisement for it. I tried using the P50 twice a day based on her recommendation (and also exactly how she recommends using it which is buff quite vigorously with a cotton pad) and it didn't work for me at all. I'm quite new to the skincare thing so I'm genuinely curious at how she gained her reputation as a skincare expert.

[skin concerns] what is this mark on my cheek?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi everyone, I'm new here and I was wondering if someone could possibly tell me what this mark is on the top of my cheek/how to get rid of it? It has no scab, head or anything. I thought maybe it was a blind spot, but I've had those before and it doesn't feel or look the same to me. I've had it about 2 months now and no matter what I do it won't fade/go away. I've tried washing it, putting creams on it and just leaving it be, nothing works. I don't really have a routine I keep up with daily, but I wash my face with water or a face wipe and sometimes I'll use cream to fade spots, that's about it. Sorry for the picture quality. Any help appreciated :) http://imgur.com/a/rxmnH

[Skin Concerns] Weird symmetrical spots/marks

Beauty Tips For Body Care
My gf has these strange marks on her skin in various places on the body. They started to appear roughly 2 years ago starting with her left foot. After that she got them on her elbows, knees, near the armpits, 8 in total as of right now. They are the size of a coin, don’t cause any irritation or discomfort, do not disappear over time and, what is weird about this, they tend to appear symmetrically e.g. on both elbows in the same spot. I am not an expert on skin care by any means, I’m just asking for her sake. We have booked a visit at a dermatologist but I want to give her some piece of mind in the meantime. If someone knows something about this condition, your response will be appreciated.

[Hair Removal][Humor] Holy shit I just had my first "Brazilian". How do you get through it?!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
(First time poster here, long time reader.)So I have super thick hair. It's always a compliment when I go get a haircut, but hair removal has always been a pain in the a$$.Recently I bought some brazilian wax (Gigi hard beeswax) and tried to do a bit myself. Normally I epilate my legs and thighs just fine, but about 1 square inch in I decided to go to a professional. My appointment was about an hour ago, and holy hell that was insane. They used body sugar and the pre-rip tugging was intense. I screamed, I yelped, and there was no AC so I was sweating like crazy. Luckily the lady sugaring me was nice and funny so it was mostly laughing. I had to take a few minute long breaks, and the entire sesh lasted only 25 minutes. Feels like I just did an hour at the gym.Now I feel like I'm high (I guess endorphines or dopamine?) I took an aspirin about an hour before my appointment but I don't think it did anything. How do you ladies (and gents) deal with it?...Also she told me something pretty hilarious. Right at the end, it was time for my rear, and she said, "don't worry, that part is the unicorn". It was the one place in that whole mess that didn't hurt at all.Thank you if you actually read through all of this. <3

[Personal] Rant - Horrible experience at my wedding makeup trial. Sales associate put irritating products on my face and tried to lecture me about skincare.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Tl;dr - Before my makeup trial, a sales associate came over to "prep" my skin for the makeup trial. Proceeds to treat my oily, sensitive skin like it's the resilient and dry. Ignores my product list, layers on tons of products I have not tested. Refuses to answer my questions about ingredients until after they're on my face. Lectures me about using "chemicals."Okay, sorry about the upcoming rant.To preface this, I want to say that I'm very shy and non-confrontational. I have never in my life had any "beauty" services performed on me (mani, pedi, massage, makeup, etc), and I was very nervous but trying to stay in a really optimistic mood for my trial, which was done at a popular makeup store that starts with an "S".To prep for the makeup, I exfoliated and moisturized really well last night, and then wore a really light layer of sunscreen and foundation in the morning beforehand (I'm really self conscious about scarring, and when I scheduled my appointment they said I could wear makeup and remove it when I got there). I also prepared a list of products like toners, moisturizers, and primers that work well on my skin and are available at that store.I arrived to the trial about 10 minutes early, and while the makeup artist was getting her supplies together, another employee directed me to get my "skin prepped" by a sales associate who was there representing a specific skincare line. This immediately was a red flag, but I was already feeling out of my comfort zone and intimidated by all these gorgeous employees, so I went with it. I gave the woman my list of products, and explained that my skin is oily, somewhat dehydrated, and very sensitive. She wouldn't let me remove my own foundation, and she attempted to remove it with a small amount of an unspecified cleanser (maybe water?) on a cotton pad. Obviously this did not work, and she started complaining that my makeup was way too heavy and this was bad for my skin. She then began wiping my face with another cotton pad, saying "This is an exfoliant that will really help you with all your flakiness. You really need to exfoliate. It solves all your skincare problems. Too many girls just cover up everything with makeup without trying to solve their skin problems."I did heavy chemical exfoliating this week, and did NOT have any flakiness or need exfoliation. And I was absolutely infuriated that she assumed I didn't know anything about skincare because I have shitty skin and wear makeup (and she was wearing a full face, btw).At this point the exfoliant was starting to burn my drier regions, and I asked what the exfoliating ingredient was. She starting listing off all these random botanicals that are not exfoliants. I clarified and told her that I am familiar with exfoliants and mentioned several of the active ingredients I use at home. She got really flustered and started talking about how this has lemon extract and is way healthier for my skin than "all those chemicals." She then showed me the cotton pad she had used for the exfoliant, which was covered in the foundation that she had failed to effectively remove before, and said "see, look at all the dead skin that it was able to get off your face."I was really trying to stay optimistic about this whole thing, and being really shy, I tried to just retreat into my shell until this whole experience passed. As I was recovering, my face was attacked with an absurd amount of an ambiguous "serum" from her product line (I think it was Vit C? She wouldn't say, she just kept saying the active ingredient was "antioxidants"), which left me sticky and my skin burning again. She was moving and talking incredibly fast, and before I knew it, there was moisturizer with unspecified ingredients being slathered on my face. She told me it was her personal favorite (being 30 years older than me with very dry skin). The serum pilled up under the moisturizer, and she was like "Oh look, more dead skin! Imagine how much there would have been if I hadn't exfoliated!"And then she disappeared, leaving me in shock and trying to buff off the pilled up mess on my face.By the time my makeup artist got there, the pilling was gone and I had talked myself back up to feeling optimistic about the future of this appointment. This MUA was amazing and we really hit it off. She made me feel comfortable and listened to my skin concerns and product/ingredient list. Then, about halfway through, she actually complimented my skin, saying that I had a nice skin texture and had exfoliated well, so it was easy to apply the makeup. This was so meaningful to me because I've struggled for so long with texture, flakiness, and scarring. At this exact moment, the skincare "specialist" popped up behind us and overheard. She chimed in with, "yeah, I'm so glad that I exfoliated her face before you got to her! You wouldn't believe how much dead skin I got off of her! It would have been a mess otherwise!" Throughout the rest of the makeover, she kept popping up randomly and patting herself on the back for how well the trial was going (even though we had to use extra product to conceal the redness around my nose/lips due to the irritation from her products). At the end of the makeover, when she left, I told my MUA a watered down version of what had happened, and she was mortified. The makeup only held up for a few hours after the trial, and I'm pretty sure it was due to the heavy serum and moisturizer (which makes NO sense for a daytime, outdoor, mid-summer wedding). I included this in a follow-up note to my MUA, saying that the makeup looked incredible, but next time I'll be bringing my own skincare products and doing my own prep, and this is non-negotiable.Tonight I'm trying to wind down, drink a lot of water and green tea, and do anything else that I can think of to soothe my ambushed skin. I really wish I could have put my foot down and told her to stay the heck away from my face. Lesson learned.

[Misc]Are cleansers bad for the skin? Brandon Truaxe doesn't like them.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Brandon Truaxe, founder of Deciem has said in interviews he doesn't like cleansers, "I don’t use cleansers and never have. The benefit cleansers offer, more than water would generally, does not justify the harm they cause in removing all the protective substances that act as skin barriers. In fact, people in very poor countries who never wash their face with anything more than water generally have very dense, healthy skin because the skin is less exposed to the environment. Having said this fact, I also don’t wear make-up and it is important to remove makeup completely if you do wear it and so good cleaners are very necessary." I wonder if there is any science to back that up, that cleaners damage the skin. Or I'm curious to know if water works just fine without as he says irritation or removing protective layers and what not. I've been looking around for studies on google scholar and haven't been able to find much. I haven't been able to find actual science that says cleansers are really all that beneficial or detrimental to the skin which makes me wonder if I should even keep washing my face with a cleanser. Because he does seem to have a point about people in less developed nations tend to have better skin, as anecdotal as that may be.https://www.victoriahealth.com/editorial/gill-meets-brandon-truaxe-againhttps://thefruitcompote.com/2016/09/01/a-10-minute-read-on-brandon-truaxe/

[Review] My HG Sunscreen - Biore UV Perfect Face Milk (and the alternative Bright Face Milk)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello! This is my first review here :) I have been sharing in bits and pieces all over ... I figured I might as well consolidate it into a proper review since there isn't already one for these under the review tag.Skin-type : Oily all over, especially t-zone.Product : Biore UV Perfect Face Milk (blue/white cap) http://www.ratzillacosme.com/sun/biore-uv-perfect-face-milk-4-plus/Alternative : Biore UV Bright Face Milk (pink cap) http://www.ratzillacosme.com/sun/biore-uv-perfect-bright-milk/Images of their packaging and etc in Singapore : https://imgur.com/a/gbO2XImportant : Contains alcohol!! I personally don't mind because by the time I use it, I've had all my skincare and moisturizer on and I'm sure it helps dry it up quickly after application. If you are sensitive to alcohol though, then please do a patch test or avoid altogether!Review : A friend pointed me towards this brand, and the local drugstore carries variations of it and I narrowed down to these two. Looking at the packaging (imgur album), it was easy for me to decide which to get - "Effective Shine Control" ... "Contains sebum-absorbing powder to control oil and shine ..." pretty much closed the deal for me. A bonus is that it also contains Hyaluronic Acid for moisturizing! It's a handy sized bottle and I now have several in various bags and places. There a ball inside to help mix the product and you have to give it a good shake every time. The sound helps you gauge how much product is left since there is no way to see into the bottle - it sounds more hollow as it runs out. The sunscreen itself is white and liquid. The dispensing spout is very thin and minimizes accidental spills or over pouring.I use it daily after my skincare, before makeup (if I wear any that day). I squirt about a half-inch circle into my palm, carefully rub both palms together then slather it all over my face, going over my eyes and ears, making sure to cover right up into my hairline and down my neck, up behind my ears. I know the instructions say avoid eye area but I have sensitive eyes and I've yet to tear or get red eyes from this. There is a slight white cast and I use that to determine my coverage. It's not really noticeable and I'm about NC35 neutral olive. Depending on my outfit, I may use more to cover my collarbones. I give it time to soak in and dry while I do other things (like get dressed). It dries to a matte, powdery finish in under a minute. It isn't tacky and has a mild baby powder like scent. For my makeup, I use my primer and foundation (current daily work options: TO Silicone Primer and Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless) and everything goes on smoothly, no pilling. I recently improved my skincare as well but now I don't get shiny till way past lunch time. There is no icky feeling or separation or discomfort.I work indoors in an office without windows so I usually don't reapply. Otherwise I would reapply tapping over my makeup or use the spray version.I'm lucky enough to find this at a local drugstore (Watson's) and am always looking out for promotions to stock up on it cheaply. It's about USD11 for the 30ml bottle. If you buy online, please look for trusted retailers!!Thank you for reading this far and hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it !!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have dealt with acne for so many years and tried what feels like everything - bp, salicylic acid, endless prescriptions, tretinoin, you name it. Birth control finally took care of MOST of my acne, but not all of it. The thing that has really helped has been using nothing but face wash and makeup. Every acne product I seem to put on my skin breaks me out. It sounds nice actually, to just wash your face and be done, but I'm in my 20s and need to start moisturizing and getting rid of the non-inflamed acne. Does anybody else feel this way? My giant cysts are gone but I'd like to treat the occasional pimple and dryness, but I just can't. Nothing I do works. It's so frustrating!

[Personal] I want to stop taking birth control. But I'm really worried about my skin.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am 17 years old and I have been taking birth control (Diane 35, oestrogen-progestogen combo, anti-androgenic) since nine months now, mainly against my hairiness and acne. Before I discovered this subreddit I thought the only solution for my skin concerns (which weren't even that bad, tbh) would be birth control and yes, it completely got rid of my acne. And when I established my current skin care routine (double cleanse, tone, essence, 10% lactic acid, 23% vit c suspension, moisturising and sunscreen every day) I noticed how glowy, healthy and even more supple my skin got. But I don't see the point of taking birth control anymore, since I'm not sexually active and especially since understood the meaning of proper skincare. So I've quit smoking and stocked up on evening primrose capsules, spearmint tea and cosrx pimple patches. I really am scared of "losing" my skin because of how much I love it right now. I'm planning on finishing my packet right now, so I want to be off birth control in 2 1/2 months.Has anyone experienced the same kind of problem I'm facing right now? I know I'm kind of making a big deal out of it, but for me, my skin is directly tied to my confidence. I'd really appreciate some advice.

[Sun Care] The Ordinary's upcoming sun protection products (5 products, mineral/mixed/invisible, going up to SPF 50)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know I just posted about the NIOD Survival line but I just noticed that The Ordinary will get sunscreens too (and they go up to SPF 50!).Super surprised as only weeks ago, they said on Twitter that they weren't going to release sun care products as part of The Ordinary because there weren't any "integrity" concerns with those products' pricing. They had said only NIOD would get sun protection products. I'm shocked at how quickly they've changed their tune.https://twitter.com/deciem/status/841310165488021504Pop over to http://theordinary.com/about and check the new Sun Care category on the left. No product pages yet:Mineral UV Filters SPF 15 + NMF (coming soon) Mineral UV Filters SPF 30 + NMF (coming soon) Mixed UV Filters SPF 50 + NMF (coming soon) Invisible UV Filters SPF 35 (coming soon) Mineral UV Filters SPF 30 + Oil Control (coming soon) I am so excited to see the pricing on these! As an aside (as I don't want to post a third Deciem post in 24 hours), I wonder what their "coming soon" Matte Watercolours products will be?

[Anti-Aging] What are your experiences with "Botox alternatives"?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Argireline, Syn-Ake, and their ilk - what have been your experiences with ingredients that claim to inhibit muscle movements and smooth out wrinkles? The creators of Argireline describe the peptide as being "The first hexapeptide that is a replica of the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 and competes in vitro with the natural protein for a position in the SNARE complex.". This is comparable to Botox's mechanism, which also acts on SNAP-25 and prevents neurotransmitter release. The idea is that Argireline will prevent muscle contractions that cause skin wrinkling. Syn-Ake is a replica of a peptide from the temple viper snake (Waglerin 1), which also interferes with neurotransmission.I'm particularly curious about Argireline products, and I'm considering The Ordinary's 10% Argireline Solution as it's not a huge investment. I believe TO's Buffet also contains some Argireline and some Syn-Ake, but I'm not sure of the concentrations.I've heard concerns that these ingredients can cause skin sagging in the long term if you apply them all over the face. I've also heard of some people claiming these gave them "brain fog" as a side effect. I'm not a chemist, so I'm not sure of the validity behind the claim that a peptide could enter your system and affect your cognitive functioning.I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on these products - have they worked well for you, or have they had zero effect? Do you feel they compare to Botox? Did you notice any side effects? Should we all stick to retinoids, sunscreen, and Frownies instead?

[Acne] I need help from you guys

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, I've been lurking here for a while and would like some opinions. A little about me: I'm a 24 year old Canadian, relatively healthy, athlete, and have had acne for 8 years. My skin type is definitely dry and I have a tough time keeping it moisturized. The past 3 years my acne has been very mild and manageable... until 4 months ago.I was experiencing a breakout during finals and on an area of my forehead. It was worse than anything I've seen in years so I decided to come here. I read about Cerave and went out and bought the cleaner and moisturizer.Cerave completely ruined me, giving me closed comedones all over my forehead, making my breakout area so much worse. The last couple months have been me just watching those closed comedones come out, while creating multiple scars in the area.Once I figured out Cerave was breaking me out, I started looking for new products and was researching everything I could here. My skin was never perfect so I didn't want to go back to my old routine. My current routine:AM:Splash face with waterCliniderm soothing lotion(Sunscreen if going in sun)PM:Green beaver moisturizer5%BP spot treatment (pretty sure my skin doesn't like it)Cliniderm soothing lotionDerme E AHA (2x a week)I decided on those products after receiving help from here and checking cosdna. I am starting to think the soothing lotion is causing issues, as now I'm breaking out more in my cheek and the zits are different than what I was experiencing before. My AM routine doesn't involve much because I don't want inflamed problem areas at work. Also, I cut out stridexred.I guess my question to you guys is pretty open: What do you think I should do/try? I would love to have a conversation with some of you. I think I will see a dermatologist soon but the wait time is 4 months.Obviously, my ultimate goal is to get rid of my acne and scars/dark spots. I also need to find a moisturizer that won't break me out and also won't make my skin look worse when applying.I hope I provided enough info. Here is a picture I just took - the scars are not nearly as visible in the picture but yeah, I'm really looking to fix myself up. My skin hasn't looked this bad in years.https://imgur.com/a/BrXXQ

[cringe] I'm so fucking sick of my doctors bringing up my acne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have had a very, very long skincare journey. I've been seeing a derm since I was fifteen (I'm now almost 30) and have had severe acne for most of that time. I've done pretty much any treatment you could think of. Accutane, antibiotics, retinoids, sprinolactone, in fact I took doxycycline for five years for acne. A year ago I decided to visit this subreddit and take matters into my own hands because I didn't feel like my derm was helping me at all. My doxy was $130 a month, likely destroying the environment of my colon and I STILL had bad acne. After many many months of trying products, strictly keeping a routine and ending birth control, I started to see a huge change in my skin and my self esteem went up tenfold. Not only was my acne clearing up, but my rosacea drastically improved as well.So imagine how shitty I felt when I went in today for my annual PAP smear and the first thing out of my doctor's mouth is, "what are you doing about your acne?" Seriously? I tell her I've seen a derm for ten years, taken accutane and all kinds of things and I'm very happy with my skin now, just have a few zits because I'm ovulating. Then she says, "have you tried zinc? That'll clear you right up". Are you fucking kidding me? If that isn't the biggest "just wash your face" I've ever heard then I'll eat my hat.I could almost understand if I had been seeing a dermatologist and they brought it up, maybe. But have some fucking tact and mind your own business. For reference, this is my skin today. I have like two zits. This isn't the first time I've had a doctor do this to me, either. Every time I start feeling good about my skin, someone knocks me back down again. I'm at the point where I wish my doctors would bitch at me about my weight instead of my skin. Ugh.

[Misc] Severe/Rare Acne Types

Beauty Tips For Body Care
After seeing a lack of posts describing more severe forms of acne and other rare conditions I figured I make a post giving a brief outline on what I've come to learn over the last couple years. Disclaimer: this post is in no way an attempt to diagnose individuals, spark fear or make you question your own condition. It's merely to give those suffering or curious a resource.Let's start with the basics.ACNE VULGARIS: Your most common form of acne. Most teens or young adults with deal with this at some point and I'm sure most of us have! Usually small whiteheads accompanied by minor redness and swelling. In more severe cases you may experience cystic acne though I'm not 100% certain cystic acne is always under the same category.Common Treatments include: Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, topical and oral anti biotics, Retin A/tretinoin, sulfur topical, Accutane. In cases of hormonal acne birth control may be considered. (please let me know if I forgot any!)http://www.news-medical.net/image.axd?picture=2016%2F11%2FTypes_of_acne_shutterstock_248595325.jpg Decent info graphic showing differences between white heads pustules and papules.Acne Conglobata: This is a fairly uncommon and severe form of acne I'm sure some have heard of. Its almost always a combination of pustules, closed comedomes, papules, cysts, general swelling and almost always scarring. This can progress to the point where said inflammation can begin effecting surrounding tissue such as muscle, joints and bone. Though this is more common in acne fulminans which I will discuss. This form of acne is aggressive and progresses quickly requiring treatment with prednisone followed by Accutane.https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/aa/e6/6a/aae66a18456b75b695f6a77126d2e4fb.jpghttps://ozarkderm.com/media/k2/galleries/22/8765962814e470e7814bbf.jpgAcne Fulminans: The big player of three. Usually takes hold after failed treatment of acne conglobata such as in my case. Almost all active spots have progressed to large pustules, hemorrhagic lesions develop, and some surrounding tissue actually dies. Inflammation is widespread, effecting more than skin. Lymph nodes are enlarged, joints are inflexible and tender, loss of appetite follows and bone lesions are often detected on bone scans.http://www.regionalderm.com/Regional_Derm/RD_Large/Acne_FulminansT3.jpgThis one is extremely severe and may be considered graphic! NSFW http://www.scielo.br/img/revistas/abd/v87n4/a15fig01.jpghttp://ee_ce_img.s3.amazonaws.com/cache/ce_img/media/remote/ce_img/https_ee_channel_images.s3.amazonaws.com/article-figures/6893/article-g01_400_246.jpgWith inadequate treatment scarring of deeper tissue may occur along with fibrosis. It's suspected acne fulminans is caused by an immune response to high amount of acne bacteria. More or less an auto immune disease. The Wikipedia article actually describes all this quite well. I can personally vouch for much of what is described.Treatment options include: steroids and preventative anti biotics.I hope this was somewhat enjoyable. This is fairly unedited so there will probably be errors but my main goal was an attempt to bring attention to conglobata and fulminans. I find both very interesting to read about!I apologize for any improper terminology used and for the informal writing style. I will continue to update this post with community feedback.

[Humor] An encounter with a skincare-illiterate friend

Beauty Tips For Body Care
A lot of my friends at college are guys. Most of them are fairly-masculine-engineering-student type and don't have much interest in skincare (I don't spend a ton of time looking at their skin, but from what I can tell it's perfectly fine for the most part, which likely is one of the reasons none of them have pursued it)A while ago one of them said to me "Y'know, my [face] skin is usually pretty oily, but it's been kinda dry lately."At the time I still had a big tub of Cera Ve lotion and had been getting good results from it (I've since switched over to a different moisturizer) so I considered letting him try some. So I asked him what kind of moisturizer, if any, he was using on his face currently. He looked confused for a moment and asked"There's more than one kind of moisturizer?""

[Product Question] La Roche Posay Toleriane moisturiser -- which ingredient(s) make it comedogenic?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello everyone,I've been trying to up my moisturiser game, without much luck. My skin is oily/acne-prone, but tends to have dry/irritated patches from BHA and adapalene use (which do, however, keep my acne in check, for the most part). So far, I have been using the LRP Toleriane Fluid, but it's not enough. My dermatologist suggested I try the LRP Toleriane moisturiser, but while it really helped with my dry/irritated patches (they basically disappeared within 2 days), it gave me plentiful comedones (including in places where I have never had any, e.g. on my temples) within one week of using it, and a horrible breakout on my chin/the sides of my mouth and on my cheeks (where, again, I haven't had a breakout in probably 10 years, since before taking Roaccutane).I discontinued use after 7 days, and over the past 10 days the breakout has cleared up, and half of the comedones I would say have disappeared. So I'm positive that it was the Toleriane moisturiser that caused this.I've been trying to find the culprit among the ingredients, but none of them seem to be comedogenic, at least in theory. I was wondering if any of you might have an inkling as to which one(s) the culprit(s) may be, so I know what to avoid moving forward.I'm including the ingredients for both moisturisers as well as my routine.Thank you!Toleriane moisturiser (gave me a horrible breakout): AQUA / WATER CYCLOPENTASILOXANE ISOCETYL STEARATE SQUALANE GLYCERIN ISONONYL ISONONANOATE PENTYLENE GLYCOL ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE CETYL ALCOHOL PEG-100 STEARATE GLYCERYL STEARATE DIMETHICONOL ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER SODIUM HYDROXIDEToleriane Fluid (causes me no issues, but isn't moisturising enough): AQUA / WATER SQUALANE GLYCERIN DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL CARBOMER SODIUM HYDROXIDE ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN CAPRYLYL GLYCOLRoutine: AM: Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser; The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%; LRP Anthelios SPF 50 Fluid; Laura Mercier Tinted MoisturiserPM: Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser; On alternating nights: Differin 0,1% Creme / Paula's Choice BHA Liquid; LRP Toleriane Fluid

When I was on a BC pill in the past, it had actually helped reduce and control my acne. So it was a total surprise when I started developing severe cystic acne, mainly around my mouth, jawline and cheeks. I've struggled with acne since I was 13 but it was never these deep, painful cysts that were now covering 60% of my face!I was so embarrassed by the acne on my face, I didn't even want to go outside without makeup for a run, which had been my main source of stress relief and meditation. I stopped going out with friends and being social with people at work. My confidence had plummeted. I remember crying every day for a week or two straight. It all felt so futile and uncontrollable. I knew that it was the BC pill that had caused this hormonal acne, but I was terrified my acne would get even worse if I stopped taking the pill. I switched between three different BC pills, hoping that would finally end this vicious cycle of cysts.I wasn't able to get an appointment with a dermatologist until March 2017, who prescribed me the Clindamycin and Tretinoin, along with a few months of oral antibiotics. Around the same time, I also ended a relationship that was causing me more stress and anguish than happiness and joined a CrossFit gym.I noticed a difference within a few weeks, all the red, angry cysts were flattening out and no new pimples were appearing in their place. I stopped taking the oral antibiotic after 3 months and that's also when I really started noticing the redness reducing and the scars the acne had caused to become less noticeable. I'm now hoping to work on the scarring this acne has left behind and I'll be working with my dermatologist to come up with a personalized routine to address that.I am so much more confident, I've made so many new friends at my gym and at work. I've also begun dating again. Even going on active, outdoorsy dates where I don't wear any makeup at all!I have been browsing this sub since November 2016, when this all started for me. I honestly couldn't say nicer things about this community and all the advice, love and support you guys were able to offer me when I was struggling the most.Thank you <3

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I thought this might be a fun thread (I don't know if it's been done before), but I keep thinking about how one time before I was educated on skincare, that I straight-up took rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad because I thought it would kill my acne. [Misc] Another occlusive option that's not Vaseline or Aquaphor

Beauty Tips For Body Care
So few weeks ago I went a bit BHA and BP happy and overexfoliated my face. I looked up ways to increase hydration, and decided that I needed an occlusive layer to seal in all the hydrating products.Tried Vaseline - oh big mistake. It clogged me right up and broke out in big zits on my forehead which usually never happens. So next up Aquaphor...better, but still clogging. Also it made my skin very itchy and uncomfortable.I was desperate at this point now and didn't want to spend a ton of time and money researching and purchasing products (I use mostly AB products), so I went to my local pharmacy to look for Cerave Healing Ointment to try this. But no! Canada blows and we have no Cerave Healing Ointment, but next to the Cerave products, I see Cetaphil Barrier Cream with Meadowfoam Oil.I thought, what the hell, if it doesn't work at least I can still use it for my dry, cracked hands (thanks, rockclimbing!). That night as last step of my PM routine, I mixed in equal parts of Cetaphil Barrier Cream and Cosrx Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream and slapped them on my face.Guys. This is wonderful. It's a little bit thick and greasy in my hands, but as soon as it's spread on my face, it actually sits very nicely. I don't feel like it's suffocating my skin, and none of that itchy, irritating feeling as well. I have no clogged pores/CCs the next morning, and my skin is now slowly coming back to life. The ingredients may not play well for some people, but my skin loves it.AQUA, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, LIMNANTHES ALBA (MEADOWFOAM) SEED OIL, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, GLYCERIN, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, NIACINAMIDE (VITAMIN B3), PANTHENOL, SQUALANE, CETETH-10, STEARETH-20, DIMETHICONE, TOCOPHEROL (VITAMIN E), DISODIUM EDTA, POLYAMINOPROPYL BIGUANIDE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE F.I.L 0778.So for Canadians that are looking for Cerave Healing Ointment alternatives, this may work for you. Obviously with all skincare products, YMMV!Edit to add a comparison of the Cetaphil Barrier Cream with Vaseline and CeraVe in the tub. It's hard to tell from the picture but the barrier cream is less viscous than Vaseline but denser than CeraVe.

For context: early 30's, normal skin that isn't overly oily or overly dry but acne-prone, texture issues and large pores from years of picking (don't do that!), natural redness in skin, some fine lines, and in a hot/humid climate where a lot of sunscreens can slide right off.Paula's Choice RESIST Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30: Creamy lotion texture that blends and spreads well, dries down matte. I find this to be unique in just how well it dries down. Mineral sunscreens, for the most part, still tend to sit in greasy, uncomfortable layers on the skin that wipe off easily or melt off in my climate. If you have dry skin, this may not be for you, although I haven't tested it with a serum underneath. This is fairly tenacious without being water-resistant and I've probably gone through 7 or 8 of them at this point. There is a tint, and if you have fair skin, its going to be pretty obvious which keeps it from being HG for me, but as it is, this suits my needs the best, I think. Also, it has a reasonable amount of antioxidants midway through the list of ingredients. 4/5Bare Minerals Prep Step SPF 50: Holy hell, this has 23.8% zinc oxide, Batman. This is a very runny, liquidy texture that might be something to consider if you have oily skin. It's incredibly comfortable (more so that the PC), although I wish some antioxidants had been included. There is a hint of a white cast but its nothing crazy, and I'm shocked that they were able to do this with such a high percentage of zinc oxide. This doesn't dry down as much as the PC SPF, and you will find it is still a bit tacky. I haven't tried powder over this though HotandFlashy (YouTube) has and she claimed it layered beautifully. I did layer the PC SPF over this and it was acceptable, though not ideal. In a hot an humid climate, this is tenacious though does sweat off easier than I would like. (Basically, at the end of the day, its still there and requires a double cleanse, but the slight melting off is problematic) Still, I think this is incredibly underrated and would probably make someone in a less humid climate very happy. 3/5Murad City Skin SPF 50: This is another new generation liquid mineral SPF and I think it's beautiful. This has NO white cast, but has a peachy tint that virtually disappears on lighter skin tones. This has 10% zinc oxide, so it's more of a "running errands" SPF. It does contain antioxidants and will leave some shinyness, though it isn't anything excessive. I had to powder my t-zone but otherwise, it was fine. I layered the PC sunscreen over this and found it layered better with this than the Bareminerals, so you might want to keep that in mind if you layer makeup over your SPF products. Like the Bareminerals, this doesn't dry down completely matte so that is something to be aware of. 4/5Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinge SPF30: Unusable. In fact, the more I used it, the more I disliked it. This balls, pills, and offers patchy coverage. When I tried to build on top of the patches, it balled and pilled again. I even tried using less than a 1/4 tsp, and used a pea sized amount and couldn't get it to work. I tried patting it, rubbing it, etc. This has a dark tint that is very obvious on lighter skin tones, which should be something to celebrate for PoC but honestly, you can't even celebrate that because it is so damn useless. It is also VERY shiny, like disco ball shiny. It's thicker and uncomfortable, and the natural scent does linger for a while and I found it unpleasant (kind of like burnt play-doh?) 0/5
